Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Apr 2016 23:13

It always puzzles me how men can always know where to find something but can never put it back where they got it from. Well mine does that.

Hope Jane enjoyed the exhibition today and the weather was nice for their day out.

I have the dentist tomorrow afternoon at 2.25pm. So we will see what this new set is like...

I have been doing jigswas online again. I geet really into them and don't realize what the time is. Jigswa Planet I find the best.

Well we had such a lovely evening! It was cold but we'd wrapped up well, and there was such a fantastic atmosphere that no one minded a bit of chill! I'm so glad we went as it did us both good! OH is now fast asleep so no tea this morning! Cas has been out for her early morning wee, so she's tucked up again till we get up.
Nothing doing today except keeping warm! Good luck with the dentist Mel! Let's hope they've got your teeth correct this time!!!

Morning Liz and All
Glad you enjoyed last night Liz.Thank goodness is was a dry night for all the Celebrations.

We had a lovely day yesterday in Cambridge. I thought the Exhibition was really interesting. Most of the coffins were not behind glass so you could get right up close and see everything. It was fascinatiing seeing how they were made and some of the colours are still so bright(3,000 yrs later) !!! amazing.
Lunch was really nice.I had the best Burger I have ever tasted .Normally I wouldn't go for a Burger but I saw someone eating one and it looked so good I couldn't resist. It was a good choice :-DI never have the bun though.

Hope your visit to the dentist goes fine Mel.Is this to 'sort' out your plate?

I will have to read back through yesterdays posts later as I am out this morning
Quite a change in the weather today.I think it may be a day for lighting the woodburner later.

Morning all

Just a quicky as I'm seeing mum shortly.

Just to let you know that both OH's and my mum have been taken ill. My mum was taken into hospital on Tuesday with heart problems, she is home now but has to have more test done and OH's mum has got a DVT, plus her kidneys stopped working after she contracted food poisoning and stopped eating and drinking properly. OH and I have been splitting our time between them both over the last few days. OH's mum was on a drip which thankfully she doesn't need now, but is still very poorly and to top it all I had an accident yesterday and hurt my ankle and back.

I will catch up with all the post as soon as I can.

Thank you for the cards some of you have sent for Sandra's birthday, I have put them to one side ready for next Thursday.

Hope you are all keeping well.

Bye for now Gill <3 <3 <3

We've done all our outside jobs this morning already as it is starting to rain!! OH has cleared Merlins yard and stable, de pooed the field, walked the dog!! I've emptied a barrow full of weeds onto the bonfire, mowed the little lawn, cleaned out Cas's crate, fed her, packed the dishwasher and boiled the kettle for coffee!!
Sorry to hear about your family ailments Gill. Hope everyone feels better soon.
Mandy we had to put chain link fencing round every bit of our garden to keep that little monkey off the plants, particularly the veg patch! She is better now, but we won't be taking it down in a hurry!! You sound as if you are beginning to win though on the sleeping arrangements. Once Max sleeps in the crate, you'll be home and dry! (literally, hopefully!)
The exhibition sounds really interesting Jane, just our sort of thing, have you any pics?
There's a new Mary Beard series coming soon on TV that looks like it'll be well worth watching.
We're having that coffee now, then I'm going to clean the insides of the windows, and fly pen them ready for summer!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Apr 2016 11:02

Morning all and evening Kim,

I see everyone is around this morning. There was only Frank and I yesterday.

Gill sorry to hear your mum has been taken ill again with her heart and Glyn's mum poorly as well. It never rains but it pours does it and I bet you hav'nt got everything done this week that you wanted to. Hope the ankle is better soon and your back.

Mandy he is getting there is'nt he. Dear little chap attacking all your plants... you have to watch them all the time except when they are asleep.

Liz you have been busy this morning.

We've had a little rain here so the ground is wet for the first time in ages.

Jane sounded as if yesterday was a great success and you both enjoyed your day in Cambridge, a lovely city. Always used to go there with my friend at Christmastime when I lived in Suffolk. Deirdre and I would go off for the day and have lunch out and come home with lots of nice things.

I think I get the new set of teeth today and then have tosee how I get on with them till the next appointment which I need to change because it is far to early for me to get everything done here and to get to Torrington.

Frank

Frank Report 22 Apr 2016 11:58

Morning you lot, evening Kim,

I am tired out just reading what you have been doing. Liz the way you are going you will meet yourself coming back ;-) ;-) ;-) You get more like my Ros, she's never still for a moment.

I was in bed by 9.30 last night, before Ros got home from choir practice. She couldn't believe her eyes when she came in the bedroom. I was all settled down and asleep by 10.00 pm I didn't feel her come to bed or get up this morning. I didn't wake until 9.00 am.

Last night she sorted out a vase of MINT that sits on the window sill. She picked three storks which had roots on. Ros put then on the side and when I found them this morning I THREW THEM AWAY. She had replaced some flowers yesterday, and I thought these were the trimmings off of some flowers, she went to look for them and said WHAT YOU DONE WITH THE MINT. I am just about to sort out the mint outside, and was going to put them in the sink (it has the mint in ) by the back door. I retrived the storks, and she has planted them. I must ask before throwing things away.

The car is at the garage having the new door lock fitted (the one Carolyn broke) Valerie was kind enough to bring her home, and the garage will bring it back and Ros will take the driver back. So all the stuff she keeps in the boot can go back in there. SAT NAV, jump leads, wheel brace and her bits and pieces.

Sorry to hear about your MUM and MIL Gill. I wish them a speedy recovery.

It does seem that a lot of Celebs, are falling of the perch of life. (My Nephews saying) Valerie said to Ros this morning, all you hear lately is people dying. Ros replied it's the way things go !!!!
you would have tipped one over and broke it.

I see MY little boy is being naughty, biting the plants, I wonder what goes through their little minds to do things like that. ???

Glad Ian's eyes are alright Liz, Harvey and Conrads G father had that eye trouble. Ros is ever lasting getting on to them to get their eyes check regulary. I don't know if the do.

My Lewis takes his driving test at 1.35 this afternoon, I have told him to ring as soon as he gets the results. (ABOUT 2.30 ish)

Ann, I will have to get Ros to get one of those smoke thingies. You never know what's in the greenhouse over winter.

I have just got lumbered to water and feed all her plants on the patio table, while she pops up the doctors. Roger is taking her and will wait to bring her home.

Good afternoon all

Gill, So sorry to hear about the two Mums and hope they both get better soon also your ankle and back.

Jane it sounds as though you had a really good day out, do you live very far from Cambridge ? I have only been there once and thought it was a lovely place to visit. We have been to Oxford a lot of times in the past as it isn't all that far away.

Mel Good luck with your teeth. I hope they get the fit right this time.

Mandy so the little scamp has taken a liking to gardening, Jenny one of our boxers used to do a lot of pruning when we had a garden with a lot of shrubs. It does sound as if he is settling down to a routine now bless him,

We are looking forward to watching the new Mary Beard programme too Liz. Last night we watched Master Chef one of my favourites is still in the running, then we watched the 5th episode of Line of Duty, final one next week but it will be on for hour and a half.

Frank you must have needed that sleep, good luck to Lewis with his driving test. I expect right now he is feeling a little nervous.

My dad always said someone had popped their clogs when they passed away.

Becky is staying for the weekend as her Mum and step father have to go down to Devon as Neil's Mum Caroline has been taken very ill after having a bad reaction to Immodium [sp]. Abby has Aiden her boy friend coming up for the weekend to stay at her home but they won't be on their own as her stepbrother will be there.
Richard is going to Manchester tonight and returning on Sunday evening.

Frank, my mother used to say that to me donkeys years ago, usually when I was late going somewhere!! We both try to keep busy as boredom can be the enemy! The rain has petered out now so I went out to the veg patch to find a spot for the rhubarb we bought yesterday, we've dug a hole and hopefully it'll like it and grow well. rhubarb crumble is a favourite here so fingers crossed!!
Line of duty was SO good Anne wasn't it? Can't wait for next weeks finale!!
Cas has had a good game with her ring(!!) gave me a hand with the digging, and is now in her crate! She's much easier in the garden his year Mandy, no stones, and as she has a fixation for that ring not much digging either! She just runs round chucking it the air and catching it, throwing it up and down the path and chasing it!!
Farriers arrived to do Merlins feet, so had better go and take an interest!!!

Brightened up a little here now but the wind is still a bit keen .

I'm sorry to hear about your mum and MIL Gill i hope they'll soon be feeling better and your back and ankle too.

Oh Frank i hope Lewis has good news for you when he rings ,he'll be popping to see you in his car if he passes.

Hope you get on ok at the dentist this afternoon Mel, and the teeth are a comfortable fit this time .

We have the job of doing this fencing this afternoon ,it's just short fencing to go on the little wall gardens they are like little raised beds really, about five bricks high ,two and a half bricks wide ,six foot long with copings on the top , i have flowers in one and we grow the runners in the other one .

Gillx

Gillx Report 22 Apr 2016 15:50

I'm so pleased Lewis passed his driving test Frank, they'll be no stopping him now. Has he got his new car yet?

Glad you had a good day out Jane, it all sounds very interesting. Congratulations on the birth of Fitz's granddaughter. I'm sometimes called Tilly, which is a shortened version of my surname ;-) ;-)

Mum is looking a lot better now, although she has a lot of bruises where they took blood and one on her tummy where she had to have an injection. She's still having problems breathing but thinks it might be the new meds the doc put her on, so she'll have to make an appointment to see him.

OH will ring his mum later when he gets in from work, or me if he has to go to her quickly. He said he'd come here to pick up Sandra and I if his mum takes a turn for the worse, but I said to just go straight there from work if he needs to and just ring me to let me know that's what he's done.

We didn't get all the boxes sorted properly, but did manage to sort out what was going to the charity shops and the tip, so at least that bit's out of the way now, the rest of the boxes are in the back room where they can be sorted bit by bit when we have the time.

Well, I'd better get something to eat now as I haven't eaten properly all day. My ankle is a lot better but my back is still sore, hopefully that'll be better soon too.

Jane Report 22 Apr 2016 17:48

Afternoon All

CONGRATULATIONS TO LEWIS on passing his driving test today <3
When is your first outing then Frank? :-D :-D

Gill,I'm sorry to hear that both your Mum's are ill.Hopefully both will make a swift recovery. That must make it quite awkward for you both with visiting. But I notice that your Mum is back home again now so that is a relief.

Sandras card has gone in the post today here :-).Is it still on the cards for the trip to the Zoo (weather permitting? )That would be a lovely treat for Sandra.

Anne we are about an hour from Cambridge.Sometimes slightly less.It just all depends on the traffic.
I couldn't take any photos in the exhibiton as it was not allowed.I had hoped to have got some good pics too.

LOL Mandy you have your work cut out with Max then in the garden .Little devil.A little fence around your plants sounds a good idea. You don't need chunks taken out of everything !!

Frank I seem to remember once before Ros left something else with roots in the kitchen like the Mint and you threw them away too !!!!!!(That is just the kind of thing I would do to )But Chris knows not to leave anything like that within my sight lol .

I think Chris smoked out the greenhouse a while back.He has little things growing in there now so I guess it must have been done.

Liz you were like a whirlwind this morning !!!!!. I take it that its Ians job to de-poo Merlins field.I watch them doing this job in the couple of fields opposite us.It is a never ending job by the look of it.The weekends seem to be the time when it is given a good clean up.I suppose thats the days when all the horse owners are there.I think there are new horses again as I don't recognise about 3 of them. They are all bit skittish too and looking a bit bolshy with each other :-S.Bucking and rearing.I am always worried they will hurt eachother when they do this.

The man came to look at my Rust Marks on the Bay Window Sill today. It was rust.He said it can happen sometimes but just on Bay Windows. It is where each bit of window joins(on an angle). There are metal posts on the main frame and where screws have been put in there can be loose bits of metal that can drop down through and onto the sill.Usually bad wind and rain can cause this.Anyway all is well again and I have a spotless sill :-D :-D.I checked the upstairs one too while he was here but that one is fine.

It is looking like fine rain outside now and a bit breezy.Time I booted Thomas out.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 22 Apr 2016 18:10

Glad to hear you have the rust marks sorted Jane and you now know what the reason was for them.

Well i really had to tell Max off earlier ,he is getting really bitey and he nipped at my leg
so i tapped his nose and scooped him up and put him in his crate ,i think he then knew he had done wrong as he just laid there for a while and was quiet when i let him out , he now had a go at the chair so he's back in again, but the look on his face, talk about puppy dog eyes

magpie

magpie Report 22 Apr 2016 18:14

No Jane , we share the cleaning jobs, sometimes one or other of us does it , another time we both do it. It's the same with the yard and stable. Luckily the water is piped automatically, and we have special mats in the stable which make much less work. We only have to clean the paddock twice a week as Merlin's on his own and comes in at night. Horses often rear up at each other and rarely hurt themselves. The two at the back of us often have faccas, but no harm is ever done!
Shame you couldn't take any pics, they would have been interesting. Sausages for our sups tonight, with smash and mushrooms. Tomorrow we've been asked out to friends at Cricklade, I'm really looking forward to it as we haven't seen them for quite a while so it'll be lovely to catch up.
