Back in my school days I never studied history in depth magpie, and I no doubt didn't pay attention for a lot of it.
Incredible what they would do to get an heir or a divorce !! Five hundred years on have we changed much?

Afternoon All,
It's been a nice day here too but not as sunny as yesterday. I expect Max will try it on a bit to get what he wants anyway Mandy, but sticking with it will pay off in the end and he will soon get used to the crate. I've read that covering the crate when you leave them in it when you go out helps them too......makes it like a cosy den! I meant to ask how the young man is that had the stroke a little while ago?
The latest new cat in the close, black and white, was stalking the grey tabby up the close this morning! Luckily the grey tabby is a 'hunter' and is always on his way to the fields at the back of us, so he didn't even seem to notice he was being followed!
The local paper has reported that all dogs must now be on leads in the nice old medieval deer park that I often photograph and go walking in. Every year there are more reports of dogs that ignore their owners and chase, stress and kill the deer. Anyway, after umpteen warnings in past years, this year a dog has chased and killed one of the ducks as well and afterwards, even when members of the pubic told the owner to put the dog on a lead, the owner refused!!
The ebay seller accepted my offer so my spare wheel should be here next wednesday. :-)
I went to a little art exhibition at the village hall at Peckleton this morning. I went last year and again there were some very good paintings and drawings. There is so much talent around that we don't usually get to see. There is one artist that does wonderful paintings of trains in different local stations. How he manages to paint the tiny writing on signs in his paintings I don't know!
Frank, mind your knee walking won't you! Don't overdo it. Has young Lewis been out in his car yet? Or should I say 'do ducks like water'. lol.
Jane I found rust marks on the plastic windows here not long after we moved in and that was from screws or bolts. We also had similar looking tiny brown spots from the varnish they'd flicked on when varnishing the soffits above. I ended up using a tiny knife to scrape that off!! I awoke in the early hours too with my nose stuffed up so I could hardly breathe through it and with a tickly throat. I went back to sleep and when I woke up later it had all gone so I think it must be the rapeseed pollen. I must get some more hayfever tablets.

So your Sons can tell everyone they are related to the Boleyns Ann !!!!!..WOW !
I think I am probably just related to neer do wells LOL..I have always been interested in History but on a small scale. There is just so much to take in.I remember my History lessons in Senior School. The teacher was Miss Ham.She was a right tarter. She made us sit boy girl boy girl in class so no two girls or two boys together .Then we had the awful tests of a whole list of 'DATES' that we would be tested on.If anyone got them wrong we would all have to go back to her class each breaktime until it was all correct. She was enough to put anyone off History :-S
Mandy if Lewis has the car he will be out and about for sure LOL..I think in a way that is the best thing.Just short runs just to get used to driving by yourself.I know when my 2 passed their tests and then went out straight away I was a wreck !!! just waiting near the front window until they came home.As soon as I saw them I quickly went in the kitchen and pretended I had been busy :-D
Glad you enjoyed your lunch out Liz.How long do you leave Cas? I know it is different when it is just one dog on their own .My Sister can leave her 3 dogs for hours. When they come to us her daughter or son will let them out for the toilet once during the day. I just spotted the big German Shepherd next door from my bedroom window. The whole of the left side of his back and hip looks shaved,so i wonder if he has had a hip operation. He was just lying on the grass so I didn't see how he was walking.I know that breed is common for hip and back end trouble. He must only be about 5yrs(if that)
Must get the Salt Beef in now .The veg is ready to to go in and the mash done so I don't have much to do now :-D..Chris informed me just now he doesn't want much :-S :-P

I think that it was only HenryV111th who was so paranoid about a male heir, and that was because his right to the crown was so tenuous. There were others who had a much better claim. Charles 11nd had no legitimate heir, but there was never any question of him divorcing his Queen, still less of him executing her!!! No monarch since 1535 has got rid of his/her spouse because of lack of a male heir. Katherine Howard was executed for treason, Ann of Cleeves was divorced, because Henry found her deeply unattractive. Henry had his marriage to Katherine of Aragon declared invallid in order to marry Anne, as she Katherine had previously been married to his elder brother Prince Arthur, who died shortly afterwards.

Jane , what a shame you were put off history! It's SO interesting, like a jigsaw puzzle!! I was very lucky to have a brilliant history teacher who made it all come alive and it was fascinating, full of if, buts and maybe's, We had to remember a few dates, but only in conjunction to what period we were studying. She even made the Corn Laws interesting!!! History was my favourite subject, closely followed by English Literature. We don't leave Cas any longer than three/four hours max. When she's older we probably will stretch it, but for now I think it's long enough!

I was off up the border this afternoon when Shelia our friend and local Reader called in to thank me for the chicks for the children at church on Easter Sunday and the Easter egg shaped wreath I put on the church door. I did'nt get up there till late and was enjoying cutting things down and pulling up that blasted bittercress and heard oh on the mower. Wehn I looked round he had brought me a COT up to the border on the mower!! It was just what I needed. He then informed me it was half past 6. I came down after emptying the wheelbarrow and fed the chickens and then let the banties out and swept them out and then came in and here I am all washed up and just going to cook our steaks.
Ann that pic of the little cottage is a jigsaw so I may have a go at that later. Its been a lovely day here but the winds been very chilly round the old ears.
I bet Lewis has been out and about in his car and probably washed it too. Had a look under the bonnet etc. I think light blue is a nice colour for a car and I can't see why he would want it matt black. It would get very hot in the summer. Still these young people want strange things. I can remember my son wanting to paint his bedroom black. I said NO WAY...

Morning all
Just woke up after not sleeping for almost 2 days. Mum had a heart attack midnight on Friday night so we've been at the hospital since then. She's on the cardiac ward now and is being transferred to a heart hospital in Liverpool where she'll have an angiogram, she may have to have another stent put in. I'm a bit concerned as there is suppose to be a doctors strike for a couple of days so I hope she manages to have the procedure done before the strike.
I've not read the posts yet, so will catch up when I can. MIL is on the mend, so that's some good news.
I hope everyone is okay. I'll try and get back online later <3

Morning all,
So sorry to hear your mums had another heart attack. I hope she gets her op before the strike but I am sure if it is anything to do with a heart they would not hold back on an op like that. I hope she is better soon. My oh has three stents round his heart.
Lovely day here sunshine and blue sky with a wispy white cloud here and there.

I am so sorry to hear your Mum has had another heart attack Gill , I am sure they won't hold up any urgent treatment that needs doing sooner rather than later. You must look after yourself too.
It's a very sunny day so far here but a lot colder than it has been. Becky is still in bed so will have to call her soon. David is watching snooker in his room so I'm having a quiet moment before Paul arrives for Sunday dinner. Richard is due back this evening from Manchester which will make Amy happy.

What a cold day it is ,we have snow and hail showers all the morning , it just brightens up and you think the suns going to shine then down it comes again.
We had the best night ever with Max ,in his crate at ten thirty last night just a little wimper and he settled without a wimper until just after five thirty this morning . I took the advice from those who said cover the crate ,i also put one of my old T shirts in with him and left the radio on low and as i said it was a good night.

Oh Mandy that's wonderful! I think you've cracked it!!! Once Cas went into her crate at night without a fuss we didn't look back, so I can't see that you will have anymore broken nights apart from genuine ones! i.e. illness! At first we wee'd her at about 5, but it soon got later and now it's between 7/8, then she goes straight back while we have our COT, shower and dress. One of us takes her for another quick piddle and maybe a diddle(!) before our breakfast, and that's that till her walk after we've had breakfast. Once you've got your particular system going and he knows what you expect of him it'll become easier all the time! . O H has been getting one of his chain saws back in order as we have a load of timber to saw up for the fire. I think it needs a new cabarettor, which has caused a bit of cussing!! Roast beef today, sweetheart cabbage and roast spuds, so better get on!

Afternoon All Oh Gill,I am sorry to hear that your Mum had the heart Attack. When is she being transferred to Liverpool? Is it a long way from you? Will you be able to get there easily enough to visit her? (sorry lots of questions there). What a worry for you.Thank goodness that MIL is getting better now.At least you won't have the double worry.
Mandy,as Liz just siad it looks like you have cracked it now with Max :-D :-D.That is brilliant. He is a good boy.It really doesn't take long does it especially when you don't give in(like we did :-S )
Mel I didn't know that OH had 3 stents !!.He must have had them in a long time now as I don't ever recall him having them fitted since the thread has been going.
Well it never rains but pours with my Sisters family. It seems that her Daughters Husband has walked out. This happened on Friday.Up until last night no-one knew where he was.I still don't know if my Niece has managed to find out.I am not sure he even told Finn and Amelia he was going. There is no-one else involved. So I am waiting to hear from Janice as to what is happening today.
It started off lovely today with lots of sun.But now is has clouded over and it's just looking all grey.I think I might light the fire in a bit.Once I have done this new dish.I am just not looking forward to handling the Filo Pastry and I'm sure I will make a right hash of it lol I bet Frank and Ros are tucking into their Sunday Lunch down at the Canal Restaurant .James has gone to his pal for his meal today. He bought some lovely looking Steaks to take and I have bought all the extra bits.Parsley,Chilli Flakes,Sweet Potatoes,Red Wine Vinegar (He picked Fresh Oregano from my new herb bed)..it all sounds interesting but I've no idea what he is going to be doing with those ingredients. I think I had better crack on wth this dish.I'm just waiting for the Spinach and Onions to cool down before I can get on with the next bit.

Just had our big breakfast.
The suns still shining here and it is still beautiful out there. The sky is as clear as a bell now, just blue as far as the eye can see.
Mandy I bet the tea shirt helped last night. I told you to give him something that smells of you like and old jumper etc. I am glad you had a good nights sleep and lets hope you have now broken the back of it and every night will be like last night. There again you could have a bad one tonight and then a good one tomorrow you just never know.
Going out in the garden now to work off this breakfast.

Mandy, you must feel pleased with Max settling down well last night, I think he is learning fast, he is only still very young bless him and not been with you for very long.
We have just finished our roast dinner, I did chicken for a change with all the usual veg, Yorkshires etc.we have chicken in the week a lot but not very often at weekends.
Jane, what a worry for your niece having her husband walk out like that, has he done it before? Hope the meal you are trying out turns out ok and it all gets eaten.
Frank, hope you had an enjoyable meal out, both you & Ros deserve a break from your usual routine.

Ann, no he hasn't done it before. But from what my Sister has told me things haven't been good for years.I just wish he would let my Niece know where he is and that he is ok.I don't think she wants him back now.It just all sounds a horrible situation at the moment. The children are fine and Finn says Daddy was horrible to Mummy so he is glas he has gone !!!!! It is just very sad :-( Janice will keep me up to date as things happen.
I have finally got this Filo Spinach,Pine Nut, Feta thing in the oven...Gawd knows what it will be like.So I can sit and relax for 30 minutes while it cooks :-D...and then see the disaster LOL
It has come over as black as your hat here now!!!!! I need to put a light on :-S Washing on the line needs to come in.I doubt it is dry .But I can see spots of rain so will get that in now. Mel what do you both have for your BIG BREAKFAST on a Sunday? The full works?

Afternoon All,
Managed to get the towels dry this morning but it looks like it might rain soon now.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mum Gill. You must be so worried what with all this doctors' strike etc. At least good news about your MIL though so that's one thing less worrying.
Jane, I can't believe all the things your sister has had to deal with the last few years! Just as things seemed to have settled down as well. Hopefully he will come back and they'll sort things out one way or another. I forgot to say we had rust specs on our window sills after we moved in here. They were from the metal fixings in the frame too. I thought they were specs of brown varnish at first as there were plenty of those on the frames too from when they varnished the wooden soffits above etc. I have been so stuffed up and itchy in throat and nose at night with all this rapeseed pollen. I have to have the window open or I'm too hot so that doesn't help. We are surrounded with fields of it this year, more than ever.
What a good boy little Max is being and is responding well to how you are dealing with him Mandy. They say covering the crate like a little den when you have to go out for a while helps them to be calm and settle too. I could just picture you tiptoeing up the path like Tom in Tom and Gerry, listening out for Max when you got home!! lol :-)
I eat more roast chicken or turkey than any other meat Anne and love it so would have enjoyed your lunch! Your FH sounds very interesting!
Mel, I like that.........having tea brought by mower! The hogs have obviously all woken up now and are feeding well. Do you recognise any individuals?
I noticed a 'lady of the road' on a bench seat on a main road about 3 miles from here the other day. She was surrounded by her belongings in a few plastic carrier bags. I passed by again (deliberately!) a couple of days later and she was still there. It reminded me of the lady in the van and now I can't stop thinking about her and if she is ok. I suppose I'd probably get a mouthful if I asked and lots of people pass by where she was sitting so I expect some have already asked. Why do these things prey on my mind? :-S

Ann,I got a 'mouthful ' a while back when I saw this man going through a bin .He had no seat left inthe back of his trousers and I could see his bottom .I only asked him if he would like for me to buy him some Fish and Chips from the shop right next to him. He just kept saying "Stay away ,Stay away".Poor chap obviously had mental health trouble...........I have seen him since and it appears that he must have had help from somewhere as he had proper clothes on and didn't look so dishevelled . Your Lady may be just like this man :-(
I too am finding my nose being stuffed up and throat itchy at night.I know they say that the pollen is bad towards the morning and to keep windows shut. But like you I just have to have a window open at least a little bit.We have a lot of the Rapeseed around us :-S.It is just about coming into full bloom now.I am spending more nights in Hannahs bed because of the arguments of having the window Open/Shut in our bedroom. It is a real pain :-S.I have stocked up today on Zirtec.I got the last big box from the Pharmacy in Asda.
