Evening all,
It's been quite a nice day here ,no rain ,a few black clouds now and then but the sun has been nice and we did sit out when we hsd our coffee.

Frank i'm glad to hear you can have your knee done, it will be a race between you and hubby as to who gets there op first ,they told hubby in the summer .

Gill glad to hear your mum if feeling better on the new meds ,hope you hear from her soon to say she is home.
I think you have made the right decision not doing the Zoo visit tomorrow ,the animals won't be out if its cold and I'm sure Sandra will enjoy the shopping trip just as much.

Ann i hope OH is feeling better now ,did you get out for a meal ?

Oh Jane you'll have to make sure every things locked up with the break in next door ,did you say they didn't get any thing ?

Today Max went out for his first wee on his own ,i usually go out with him saying Wee Wee but today as the back door was open he went out and did a wee and then hopped back in the door , he now knows the word biscuits when i say it at his meal time and he's still settled at night .
Oh just looked up and i can see its pouring with rain out now.

Sherbert Pips !!! Yes I remember them Mel :-D..If I remember right I bought them by the ounce and in a paper bag.Did they turn sticky? Lots of sweets used to end up all stuck together in those paper bags.Pear drops were one.I loved them but if I ate too many it made the roof of my mouth sore :-S..My favourite sweets still have to be the good old Balck Jacks and Fruit Salads.Even they would get sticky in the wrappers :-S

Ann ,that was good Gordon recovered well enough for you still to be able to get out for lunch.
Good luck getting to your Focus Group Meeting tomorrow in the rush hour. What is this meeting about?

Oh I have just seen on the news about the children who lay down in a field in the shape of an arrow to point a Police Helicopter in the direction of runaway Burglars !!!
How brilliant :-D :-D and quick minded of some very young children.(I think it actually happened at Easter but they have all been given awards. :-D :-D

Frank Report 27 Apr 2016 19:10

All you sweet toothed girls. Never having much in the way of sweets as a child, I never had a craving for them as I got older. I rarely eat sweets or fruit even though Ros keeps the fruit bowl full.

I did manage the back lawn after Madam got the washing in. My, it was so long, I was only getting up and down the lawn once before the box needed empting. Almost as soon as I got the mower in the garage. The clouds opened and we had a right old downpour.

How old is Sandra tomorrow Gill, if it's not a rude question to ask a ladies age ;-) ;-). I hope you have a purse full of money for tomorrow, it souds like you will need it.

Mandy, I went NHS to a private hospital about my knee. The NHS says about 20 weeks, but the surgeon said July which is a lot quicker.

We have been asked to have JJ from mid July to 1st week in August. I just hope I am not in hospital, and unable to play with him. So you see Jane I will have a King Charles to play with. <3 <3 <3

I have never suffered with a migrane, Harvey has them most years. He says they are not good. !!!

I feel just about wacked out now, so I think I will have a shower and put my dressing gown on. Master Chef on tonight. Then the two girls at 9.00 pm.

Jane

Jane Report 27 Apr 2016 19:21

Pineapple Chunks had sharp corners :-S
Oh little Max is being such a good boy now Mandy :-D..Any more pics of him?
It looks like it is raining SHERBERT PIPS here (HAIL) It's bouncing off the ground !!.
Getting heavier too now !!!!!.I wonder where Thomas is hiding. He won't want to be out in the open in this.

Mary Beard Programme tonight :-D.I'm looking forward to that :-D Liz this is the kind of History I enjoy.

We shall watch Scott and Bailey tonight Jane. Mary Beard we shall watch on catchup tomorrow. We love her progs. We booked Cas in for a week on Monday for her op. We have a fav vet and that's the soonest she could see to her. Also called into our insurance company to sort out our breakdown cover, and up Cas's insurance! Sainsbury's and home! Managed to dry washing outside, but it's got very cold now! That poor swan Jane, there are some really dreadful people about. I'm with Frank on the suitable punishment for all these sort of offences!!! Super vet in a few minutes, better not show Cas!!! Glad Max is settling so well Mandy, it's always a relief when everything begins to fall into place !!

Annx Report 27 Apr 2016 20:03

They wanted people who'd had any kind of heart problem at least 12 months ago Jane. They are looking to develop a support programme for patients.

Yum yum Black Jacks and Pear drops!! I found the Pear drops skinned the roof of my mouth too and the Black Jacks turned my tongue the colour of a Chow Chow's. I used to find those Spangles could sometimes cut the roof of your mouth as well. Were those floral sweets like little red gums Mandy?

Oh bless him Mandy, he's using his brains and taking note of what to do isn't he! Fancy him popping outside for a wee and then coming back in again. I bet you were chuffed with him. :-) He's doing well at night now as well isn't he.

My spare wheel arrived this morning and it's in the garage till I clear the car boot tomorrow. Then I can lift the cover off the storage compartment. Crikey, I tried to lift it and there's no way I could manage to get it out of the boot on my own. :-S In fact I think I may have set my back off!! :-S

We were saying this morning that you don't hear anyone saying 'no way Jose' any more. :-D It's funny how these things pop into your head when you aren't thinking of them.

David Report 27 Apr 2016 20:16

Annx, at our age changing a wheel is hard work and no joke.
That's why you have to AA or RAC do it for you <3

magpie

magpie Report 27 Apr 2016 20:16

I used to love pear drops well, but they could skin the roof of your mouth and be really painful! Acid drops did too!! Super vet is a bit gory tonight!!
OH is still able to change a wheel without any trouble. I could years ago and probably still could if push came to shove!!!

Jane

Jane Report 27 Apr 2016 21:03

It was that hard sugar coating on those pear drops that would rip the skin off the roof of your mouth. Then the acid bit in the flavour would make it even worse lol
Yes Ann I think the floral sweets were like te tiny gums.I loved those floral ones..Bit like Roses and Sweet peas :-DJust nice and perfumy.

Give me a spare tyre and I would have no idea what to do with it :-S(shame on me)
I know years ago I was taught how to change a tyre and I could have done it then .But not now.I doubt I would have the strength in my hands to undo the nuts.
I am sure you will be glad once Cas has had her op Liz.She might just feel a bit fragile for a day or too and then be back to her usual lively self :-D

OMG Thomas has just come in a bit wet and went straight to his food dish ...Nothing on the Menu outdoors tonight !!!

Mary Beard now.........See you all tomorrow

Annx

Annx Report 27 Apr 2016 21:28

Yes it will be the breakdown people who do it not me David! Liz, the knowhow is there, and I even carry a torque wrench with extenders to have the leverage to get the wheel nuts off. The obstacle is the sheer weight of the wheels on this car and to be honest, the wheels are getting bigger and heavier on most modern cars now and need more than a push and a shove!! lol. I have to confess that, although I would hate hanging around waiting for breakdown people for just a puncture, in most places now it's too dangerous to try and do it yourself with all the traffic and the speed it travels at nowadays. It's ok if you live in the sticks. I've recorded Noel to watch tomorrow.

Off to bed now. I'm just hoping the alarm clock will reset itself tonight. The battery went last night and although it has a new one now, it has to wait till 1.00am before it will correct itself. Why do these things happen on the one night in the year you need to rely on them to get up early? I think I'll set my phone alarm as well as a backup. ;-) Night All. xx

magpie Report 27 Apr 2016 21:34

Acid drops were different to pear drops Jane, they were wrapped and colour white. The effect if you ate too many were the same, making your tongue red raw! They were delicious though!! I can remember having something called Honey Comb Crunchy! They were big slabs like the inside of a crunchy bar!! lovely but death to your teeth!!!

magpie

magpie Report 27 Apr 2016 22:19

That's the joy of power tools, they certainly make life easier! We're off to bed now, everyone's tucked up, I'm just waiting for OH , then time to snuggle down!

Gillx

Gillx Report 27 Apr 2016 23:39

I thought you were getting someone in to cut your lawns Frank, did they not turn up and that's why you have done them yourself? You were lucky with the weather and the rain staying away until the lawns were finished. How lovely to have JJ stay again, hope it's not while you are in hospital, I know you'd be disappointed if you're not there to see him. How long will you be in hospital for, if it's not to long you'll still be able to see JJ for a short while before he goes back home?

I think you might be right about Sandra's post being opened Jane, you could tell they were cards so the postman probably thought there was money in them. As it is the ones that do have money in we've collected for her, so they weren't in the post.
Sandra is 31 tomorrow Frank.

It sounds like Max is getting the hang of things now Mandy, he's certainly quick to pick things up. I bet you were so chuffed to see him go outside for a wee then come back in again without your help. Pleased to hear he's sleeping at night now too.

Mum rang earlier and she did have a bleed so isn't coming home until tomorrow now. Not sure what time, so we maybe out with Sandra and will have to see her when we get home if it's not to late, if we can't see her tomorrow then we'll call in to see her Friday morning.

Mum understands that we might be out all day with it being Sandra's birthday. We're hoping to take Sandra out for a meal tomorrow as well as her shopping trip, but if it's not to late we can call in to see mum later in the evening if she feels up to it and doesn't want to go to bed, she said she hasn't slept very well in the hospital so might be tired and we wouldn't want to keep her awake. There's nothing like your own bed is there?

I'm feeling a lot better after my bath and think it might of been a bit of hayfever that was making me feel under the weather earlier, as most of my neighbours and OH have cut their lawns today, so there must of been a lot of pollen in the air. My eyes were red raw and very itchy, but seem to be okay now.

Off to bed now
See you all tomorrow
Night Night <3

I loved acid drops but as you have all said too many made your mouth very sore. Sherbert Lemons too. Floral gums... you got so many for 2oz. I used to use them for jellys in the dolls house. Some were shaped but some were just like a little sand pie, flat on the top. There is a sweet shop in Holsworthy that still sells the sherbert pips and old fashioned sweets like the cola cubes and pineapple chunks, buig humbugs and those army and navy tablets and cough candy. My mouth is watering now and I shall have to pay them a visit when next in Holsworthy. The shop is next to where I get my bird food for the wildies. I must take note of what else the lady has thats from times gone by.

We have a frost tonight and I have seen a hedgehog.

Gill I am sorry the card was opened but it may have been because I put those thick stickers in. They were supposed to be for Easter but I forgot where I had put them and found them with her card when I took it out to write. I should have put them in the card and not just in the envelope.

Little Max is learning quickly, what a good boy to go out and do a wee on his own.. Bless........

Off to watch some telly now to relax before bed.

Night night see you in the morning.

Oh yes, Sherbert Lemons, I remember those, they were lovely!! You could buy most sweets loose years ago so you could exactly what you wanted depending on the state of your finances!!!
Yes, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDRA. I hope you have a lovely day.

Good morning all, evening Kim,

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDRA" Enjoy your day out with Mum and Dad, And don't spend too much money <3 <3

Not a cloud in the sky but what a good frost. Half the lawn is white where the sun hasn't got to it yet.

Had a bad night, with my knee and right hip. I suppose the mowing didn't help. Gill the "GARDEN BUDDIES" forms haven't been filled in yet. Mu fault !!! After they get the forms it can take up to 3 weeks before they survey the work. Then another couple of weeks before someone comes. I must get the forms filled out.

Max is being a good boy. He will soon be going to the door and waiting for you to open it. Mine always did this. I would say to you want a wee wee, then their little tails would go 19 to the dozen. As the toy poodle got blind the Miniture (PENNY) would walk her up the garden and bring her back when she was ready. We never had any mess in the house.

I can't join in with the sweet conversations, as I don't know what most of the sweets are. I use to like mints. and still do.

You were late last night Mel, just like Ros, and David and Anne were about early. I was up by 7.15. sat and had two COT before putting the computer on.

Ro is still asleep, she must be tired with all this running around after everyone else, and doing the garden and sewing. I will let her sleep, as she hasn't anything pressing this morning, she has had a bit of a cold too.

Cherry tree just starting to show blossom, so that will look a picture in a few weeks.Haven't seen the blackbirds, the nest looks about finished, so hope they haven't abandon ship. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) Will keep a gentle eye on the nest area.!!!
