Afternoon All

I have just taken the Joint of Beef out of the oven for tonight.Ooh it does smell good.I had to slice a bit off the end just for a little taste :-D.I will slice it in a minute and cover it with gravy ready to warm when the Potatoes ,Parsnips and carrots have roasted later.

It has actually been a nice day here so far but the wind has a bit of a nip to it.All downhill for tomorrow I think :-S.

Oh Mandy I bet it was lovely to see Max and Jake tearing around the garden this morning
:-D..Hopefully one tired out Pup now :-D It all sounded great fun.

Gill no I couldn't see if it was the pool that was being cleaned.I did try my best lol,but the hedge is just that bit too high and I can only see a bit of one side of the pool.I wouldn't dare ring and ask LOL (not like you Mum :-D )I don't know Gina well enough to be able to do that.

Frank, you didn't hurt yourself did you with that tumble? Now if you had these Garden Buddies they could have moved those heavy grow bags for you !!!!!!...Done the forms???

What channel was the `Puppy Programme on? I might have a look at that :-D

I went past Wicksteed Park this morning and it looked really busy.I expect everyone was going today instead of tomorrow .

Gillx Report 1 May 2016 17:47

The puppy programme was on Channel 5 Thursday 9pm Jane. I think it's a two part programme, but you should be able to see the first one on catch up. It's well worth watching, although I did get a bit upset at the end when all the puppies were going to their new homes and had to leave their siblings and mum behind, but I suppose that's all part of a puppies life.

You did make me laugh when you said you couldn't see the pool properly after trying to take a good look. My mum says she's not nosey just curious, but how she gets hold of everyone's numbers is beyond me, I wouldn't have the nerve to ask. In a way it's good as it's all older people living in her street and sometimes they can't get to each other's bungalows, so it's a good way of keeping in touch and making sure everyone is alright.

What's on at Wicksteed Park? At least you have the nice weather, it's been raining here all day, but a little warmer than yesterday so that's not to bad. I'm hoping we get the good weather on Thursday that Frank was talking about before, then I can get into the garden with OH as he wants to cut the hedges and I'd like to paint the bench.

Have you got used to the grey colour on your bench yet Mandy? If you don't like it you can always paint a different colour over the top with one you do like. Paint tends to dry a slightly different shade, is that what happened with yours, did it make a difference?

I'm just catching up on all my emails and messages before the F1 starts. Sandra did us a lovely chicken dinner so we'll have something light to eat later. Your beef sounds nice Jane. I guess you got the timing right for thawing it out this time? <3

OH went out to buy the cupboards I fancied before, but they only had one in stock and I wanted two, so he's had to reserve one to pick up tomorrow as they are having a delivery. They're from Argos and were £49.99, so we've decided to take the one he bought today back and buy the two together because if you spend over £50 in one transaction you get a £5 voucher, if we buy them separately then we won't get the voucher.

I'm thinking of buying three as I don't think two will be enough, it'll be better for the vouchers too because if you spend over £100 pounds you get a £10 voucher, which will come in handy as I lost one of my stud earrings the other day and could do with a new pair, so the £10 will come in handy off the price of them. I might as well take advantage of the offer as it's over on Tuesday and I need the cupboards and earrings anyway. I just need to remember to buy the earrings separately from the cupboards so I can use the voucher as that needs to be on another transaction. I'm sure I'll get it all right and won't be left with a voucher I have no need for. I just need to see if I have the space for three cupboards, otherwise I'll only have a £5 voucher to use off the price of the earrings if I only buy two cupboards, either way I won't be paying the full price for the earrings, so I don't mind. ;-) ;-)

Sandra and I were watching a programme called extreme couponing the other day. It's an American thing and Sandra thought it was great that they could buy lots of food for very little money, she asked if we can do it over here, so I'll have to look into it. Mind you the amount the Americans buy, if I was to buy the same I'd need to hire a shop to store it all in :-D :-D We might be able to do it on a smaller scale, shall have to look online.

Well, the F1 is on in 15 minutes, so I'd better get a riddle on if I want to reply to all my emails before it starts. I must remember to ignore the news this time as I caught the results for the qualifying yesterday, so I don't want to hear who's won before I watch the race and spoil it for myself. I've took the sound off the TV for now. :-)

O Frank when will you learn to do things a little at a tiem and not try to move everything together. I hope your ok. Did you fall onto the bags of compost to break your fall?

Well I have done nothing today except feed the birds late, cook the big breakfast and do jigswas on the pc. Its been a horrid day with that ver drizzley rain all day now and everywhere looks wet.

Sounds like Jake and Max will sleep well tonight Mandy. They must have had great fun chasing each other.

Jane

Jane Report 1 May 2016 18:39

Gill,a good idea to take the one cupboard back and then get the voucher for buying the 2 together. Isn't it annoying when you lose an earring. :-S..I have lost many over the years(just one at a time.) where do they go??? I have lost count of the hours I have spent crawling across my bedroom carpet smoothing it with my hands to try and find lost earrings :-S..It's a bit like looking for lost odd socks !! thet seem to vanish too.

I think this weekend is the time all the rides are open at Wicksteed Park Gill.It is a beautiful park and is a 'mini amusement park'.Not big like Thorpe Park or Alton Towers. So no big scary rides.Just a lovely park to visit.Lots of Green and the lake to walk around.I used to go there with Chester for nice walks. Also with my dog before Chester.Dodger.He was well loved by the park keepers. The security chap loved Dodger so much he did an oil painting of him and gave it to me after I had to have Dodger put to sleep.I can't even begin to tell you the tears I cried then !!.

Dinner is on target for 7pm.....my tummy is rumbling in anticipation and mouth watering.I must get the table set.

Gillx

Gillx Report 1 May 2016 19:52

What a lovely thing the security man did for you, I can imagine the tears you cried, what a nice gesture. The park sounds a lovely place. Yes I was crawling around my bedroom floor trying to find the earring, I found the back inside the bed, but unfortunately no earring. Never mind it's a good excuse to buy some new ones ;-)

I'm starting to get fed up at looking at all the boxes now and can't wait to clear them out of the way, hopefully I'll make a good start on them tomorrow. I've got Michelle visiting on 23rd May and she's bringing her new boyfriend with her so I don't want him to see all the boxes, they almost fill the back room, so not a good first impression of the place :-(

I'm just watching the end of the F1, Lewis Hamilton did well to get second after starting in tenth position, after his car had problems again. I hope his luck changes for the better soon. Hamilton is 43 points behind his team mate Rosberg, so he needs to start winning some races to catch him up if he want to keep his world champion status.

Yes he did well to get to second place.

Just catching up on Indian Summers.

Night night.

Good Morning from a rainy Berkshire

Hope everyone is having a relaxing bank holiday.

Not only is it raining but windy as well, this always seem to happen when the cherry trees are in blossom, we have a lot of them in this road, they must have been planted when the houses were built in the 70's.We don't have one in the garden as you do Frank

Is Max being a good little boy today Mandy, one of our boxers as a puppy took a liking to the kitchen chair legs.

Frank is your real surname Spencer? Joking apart I hope you go more carefully today and are taking it easy for a change.

Paul is going down to Dorchester today to pick Abbie up she has spent the weekend with Aiden's parents. Becky came here for the day yesterday with Paul, we had roast beef etc. I had bought a really large joint which was on offer at Sainsburys and cut it in half so there is still a joint in the freezer for another time.It worked out so much cheaper than buying 2 smaller joints.

I'm hoping the rain stops as Richard is going to clean out both the pond filters we have had a lot of tadpoles in the bottom pond but they seem to have met their demise as I haven't seen any this week.

We will be watching the finals of Master Chef later, both of my two favourites have gone out now so it will be interesting to see who the winner is.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 May 2016 10:40

Morning all and evening Kim,

Grey day here today. Plenty of cloud in the sky and some of it looks blue, the clouds not the sky... Its not raining yet but I think it is going to later on.

Seems funny not to put the bins out today.

My cursor just disappeared so nothing came up on the screen as I typed and its just as well I saw it or I should be rushing along and there would be nothing on the page.

I really don't know where Indian Summers is going now. So much vile goings on with that wicked husband and then Home Fires has one too.

Jane Report 2 May 2016 11:00

Morning Everyone
No rain here just yet.It is really very mild and I have the windows oprn to get a bit of air in.Shame your weather is rotten Anne.I think we are due some rain later today.

I hope that the little lanes down to Dorchester aren't clogged with may BH Tourists for Paul.We had a week down there a few years ago and spent a lot of time nose ot tail.

I'm going ot nip out to Dunelm now as i want a Black Dye.I have a favourite black cotton/linen top which has faded so much so I thought I would see if dying it will perk it up for a bit longer :-D

Frank

Frank Report 2 May 2016 11:21

Good morning my little dumplings, Evening Kim,

I've been up since 6.15 am, Woke and couldn't get back to sleep. Ros has just imerged at 10.45. !!! She must have needed the sleep, I did pop in twice to make sure she was still alive ;-) ;-) ;-)

Very cloudy here with the wind, not as cold as it has been so that's good.

Yes, I was lucky that the bags of compost broke my fall, but t did shake me up.!!!

I havwe filled in the forms, but not sure if I will join. All I will need is someone to cut my lawns, when I am unable to do them. Ros loves her garden, so won't want people poking around in her flower beds. Will have to see how we go on.

I used to spend many hours over Wicksteed Park, either playing on the swings etc with the children, or going over Sunday afternoon for a picnic. Also as we didn't live far from it, our LAB would often jump a 6 ft fence and make his way over there. I have often found him swimming in the lake, or cagging food from other visitors.

Gill if you are interested for Sandra, there is a full day of David Attenborough on Sky one Channal 106. All about nature.

Thanks Anne. "SOME MOTHERS DO HAVE THEM" is me to a TEE lol The times I think I can do something then realise I can't or shouldn't, but it's too late.

Our Cherry Tree is almost in full bloom. so there will be a beautiful show by the end of the week.

There has beed a "BIRD" singing in the back garden, that I just can't place by it's song. It was singing yesterday when Ros was on the patio. I said where is that bird ?? I keep looking for it. She saiD LOOK DOWN BY YOUR FEET. (sorry) cap locks again !!! There it was a tiny "BLUE TIT MODEL" that has a sun sensor, and plays a song every few minutes. Mystery solved ;-) ;-)

Nothing special happening here today. I might take Ros out for a meal later if she wants to go. If not I will prepare something later for the pair of us.

I did go to the pub yesterday afternoon as the match was on SKY. sports which I do not have. There's a good match again tonight so I might go down again. Chelsea V Spurs. If Chelsea win, Leicester become champions. (I know you needed that infomation) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Sun is trying to break through now. so it might turn out a nice afternoon.

Ii wonder if Ann's G supports Leicester Frank?

Those little birds I bought for the boys next door in their Christmas stockings but I see they have them in Morrisons again now.

magpie Report 2 May 2016 12:11

We've just rescued a tiny pippistrelle bat. Poor little thing must have been blown in on the strong wind we've got here this morning, and was lying on the ground by the bins! OH has popped it on a rafter in the barn out of harms way. Should be ok there.
Getting a bit dark here now after a nice morning, so must get washing off the line and put it on the airer under the overhang. It can go on blowing there but stay dry!!
Nothing doing here today, OH is busy stacking logs to dry for next winter, Cas is playing with her ring(!!) and I'm about to do a bit more family research before lunch, then a bit of catchup this afternoon (Indian Summers) then?!!!
Hope everyone has a nice day whatever you're doing.

Jane

Jane Report 2 May 2016 12:47

Well the temperature was showing 18 degs in the car !!!!.Feels like it too.It is just that very stronf wind spoiling things at the moment.Saying that there are some big black clouds building up now.I have just put some washing out so best keep an eye on that.

Oh Liz.I hope the Bat wasn't injured at all.maybe it just had the wind knocked out of it.Fingers crossed once it gets over its shock it will be fine.

Frank,Chester used to love having a swim in the lake down at Wicksteed Park.If he was off the lead he would be in there before I could stop him.He loved the river too,but almose got swept away once :-0 :-0..I never let him in there again unless he was on the end of the long lead.Fancy your Lab going off down to the park on his own !!!.I wouldn't be surprised if many a dog did that.Dogs have to be be kept on the lead now unless it is in the designated area where dogs are allowed to have a run.
I reckon anyone down there now will running for cover soon if these clouds are anything to go by :-S
Where will you go for a meal? it might be really busy everywhere with lots of children !!

We have a couple of Solar powered Butterflies in my herb bed which flutter about when the sun shines. One keeps flying off though :-S
This wind is making my eyes itch like mad and i can smell the strong scent of the Broom.(think I am going to have to shut the windows :-| )

Undercover was great last night.Just one more to go..Tonight it is Marcella :-D

I am not into Football Frank so haven't a clue about anything lol.

Hannah is on her way back to London from the Hen Weekend in Bath.No doubt I will hear all about it later.

The men will have the left over Beef tonight with Mash and Greens.Jess and I have a Lamb and Mint Pie.I haven't tried this before.Bought it at Beckworth Emporium and it has been in my freezer for ages so I thought it was time to use it.
I think it is going to be a bit of a lazy afternoon :-)

Frank

Frank Report 2 May 2016 15:17

Will try to post later as I have just lost another two !!!!

Frank

Frank Report 2 May 2016 16:04

What an afternoon it is now, RAIN smashing on the conservatory roof.

Jane I doubt you can have a lazier afternoon than me. I poked my nose out earlier ans soon came in. Sat reading and watching D Attenborough. I can hear that "Chopping block" has started, so will watch a bit later.

Ros is busy sewing the blankets, three more finished today. Tomorrow afternoon the sewing girls are starting to make new covers for the church pews. It's ongoing over the next three Tuesdays.

As Ros was late up this morning, and had her Weetabix late, she doesen't want to eat until later. So we will go out about 5.00 pm. Go to get some odds and ends at Tesco then go on to THE WALTER TULL. an eatery at Sixfields. The food is cooked to order and is always good and reasonably priced. As it's later in the day there shouldn't be a lot of children around. Well we can hope !!!

I will try to arrange the time home to coincide with the football at the pub, that will save Ros having to take me out a bit later. I will ring her when I am ready to come home, as my knee isn't feeling great, for me to walk.

That was the words I was looking for this morning "SOLAR POWERED"

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 May 2016 18:49

I put my solar powered lights up our hall and in the bathroom overnight and in the morning they sit on the bedroom window sill to recharge. In the afternoon I swap them to the west facing window in there so I catch all the light or sun.

Sun is out at the moment but we have a cold wind with it.

Oh has been working on hiding a hose pipe under the decking round the pond and I have been doing jigswas online.

Beef burger for dinner with chips for oh.

You're an early bird Jane! We've just woken up, OH has let Cas out and is making us a cuppa! We shall have that in bed, listen to radio 4 for a while then get up about 8.00, which is the usual morning routine!
Lovely day, but a bit chilly. Nothing planned but no doubt we shall think of something to do !! The pippistrelle disappeared, so hopefully it flew away.

It's a lovely sunny day here at the moment, just finished my 1st COT and trying to get motivated. I am just going to take Amy for a walk after that I have a few of the usual chores. I have the Hygienist appointment at 11o/c it takes about 20 minutes to walk there so I'm glad its not raining. Ran out of dishwasher salt yesterday so will pop into Sainsbury on the way back.
