Thanks Liz.......so it's not just me then! I have started looking at online videos and instructions. I know where the battery is now, but it's tricky to remove, you have to virtually dismantle it and some have damaged it doing it. I'm going to try charging it in the car tomorrow and see if that works! It did come up with a screen to start with and then a red battery shape and that's all I get now.

Off to bed for some tv now. OH went a while ago.

Mel I think we have been about 5 times in all now! I must look at the dates on some photos to check. Yes, I have found quite a few more places to go and see, but we shall still visit some of the favourites like the gardens at Trebah and Glendurgan. It's strange that I always sleep well there too. Maybe it's because it's pitch black at night like where you are.

When we used to come down here on holiday I always slept like a log. Same with when we moved to Suffolk I could go out like a light. Now I live here I do get a few nights when I just can't sleep but have found a glass or two of port helps and can usually go off quite quickly.

Morning Girls and Boys Evening Kim,

Bright blue sky's as far as your eye's can see. Cool breeze, but nothing to stop me getting out.

I was going to rotavate my "patch" but Ros has gone shopping and made me promise I wouldn't do it when she's not here. !!! PROMISE MADE <3 <3 <3 So I am going to set a load of seeds in trays. Ros will have to make room in the greenhouse for them, and some can go in the conservatory.

Was AWAKE again at 4.00 am. after 5 hours sleep. So maybe that's all my body needs. It was nice to sit and watch the sun come up. with a COT.

Ann, You are doing the right thing, plug the TOM TOM in thr cigar lighter, and as you drive it will charge it up. Just put the post code in for your destination, and off you go. I never knew you could charge them anyother way !!!

I have lost my email icon. so Gawd knows how many there is in my in box.

Spoke with Conrad last night. He is looking forward to seeing us on the 1st June. The Villa is all set for the 2nd week. Pool and all. It's very close to his office, so Ros said she will be able to walk over in thre morning with a "FULL ENGLISH" for him.
Where the villa is, it won't be close to the "AMIGO" the bar I walk to from his appartment. So I will have to find somewhere else for the 2nd week.!!!! Can't have NO BEER. can I ???? He is coming home in August for a couple of weeks, and hopes we can drive to Devon to stay with them. I said it will all depend when my knee op. is, and how well I am feeling. 4/5 hours sitting won't be good for my leg.

So you are off to Froggy land again Jane. Do you eat snails and frog legs ?? I love snails in Garlic butter, but never tried Frogs legs. Has anyone else ???

I have no idea what time Ros will be home, she out with Carolyn. I did tell her to bring something easy for tea tonight. to save me cooking. I don't feel that after being in the garden for a few hours, I will want to stand cooking.!!! Gives me a night off anyway
;-) ;-) ;-)

Hope you all had a good day whatever you are doing xx

Morning all,

Beautifull day today. Washing has just finished so that will go on the line.

I want to get out in the garden today and feed my plants and get up the border to sort some of that out.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 May 2016 11:00

Frank I don't think the stairs would do your knee much good either. You will need time for it to settle down after the op.

magpie Report 4 May 2016 12:23

What a fantastic day! Had a really good spring clean today, and am now sitting on the veranda soaking up the sun! I think it depends which make of TomTom you have as to how you set them up. Ours can be charged up through the computer which apparently gives a better charge than in the car. You can buy a separate battery charger too for a quick charge which works off the mains. We haven't got one, but M has as he doesn't use his that much so he finds it quick and easy when he needs to charge it in a hurry. I hope you've sussed it now Ann. There might be a YouTube which could help! Ours was a pig to set up, Carmin was easier but OH reckons T.T is much more efficient, (who am I to argue?!) so worth the struggle!!!
The birds here are so busy especially the swallows! and somebody is singing their heads off - all good stuff!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 May 2016 13:13

My bantams are layer eggs and kicking up a racket apart from that you can hear the birds singing when they stop.

Have done two lots of wshing which is on the line and hoovered the kitchen diner and part of the hall and then oh had finished mowing so everything stopped for coffee.

Now It is time to get some lunch and that will be another hour or two of the day gone!!

Frank

Frank Report 4 May 2016 14:04

It's a grand day to be sure, to be sure !! I have been in the greenhouse setting tomato seeds. Ros has plants coming on to plant in her pots, but I thought I would grow some also. Three blokes down the pub have said they would like some.
I have also watered the greenhouse and her hanging baskets that are still hanging in the greenhouse.

The cherry tree is in full blossom now, and looks so beautiful. The blossom won't last long, then it will be all over the lawn and pond..

I have printed off my boarding pass's for our Holiday, So that's another job out of the way. Only four weeks today and we will be off. When do you go Jane. ???

I think I will get my book out and go and sit on the patio in the sun.

Afternoon All,

Glorious weather here too so the washing is all dry and very quickly.

Liz, you have been busy this morning! It's nice to relax when you've got a load of jobs done. Our satnav is a Tom Tom Start 50. In the last half hour I've figured out while it won't charge!! It is so simple it makes you feel so stupid!!! There is a tiny plastic clip thing on the cable that was tightly fixed to where you push the cable into the connection on the Tom Tom and this was stopping it being pushed in properly although it felt as if it was in properly. I thought it was to stop the cable getting trapped against the Tom Tom. As soon as I turned the clip around and pushed the cable I felt it slide in a little further. Then everything whirred into action and it is charging on the pc, has downloaded updates to my pc then updated the Tom Tom. All I need to do now is work out the instructions to use it!! Phew!! I managed to type in a journey, but if you mistype I can't see that you can delete anything. It seems you have to go back and start again?? I'm trying it in the car cigarette lighter later Frank. I must remember to pop it in the boot when I park up though.....a new habit to get into.

Well I'd better get on with some jobs and some packing now.

magpie Report 4 May 2016 16:27

Our TomTom is Go 600. Ive just asked OH, and he's now updating it!!!!! Stand by for blue air!!! Ann I once tried to unsuccessfully push a plug into a socket only to find that it had a plastic cover that needed removing!!!!! So again, you're not the only one! Looks as if you should have good weather when you're away. I do hope so, after all your ups and downs you could do with some good relaxation. As I know I've said, we lived for a couple of years in Cornwall,l firstly Falmouth and then right on the Lizard peninsula, when we were first married, our son was born there, and I remember our time there with a lot of affection.
We've spent most of the day in the garden as its been so lovely!

Afternoon All
What a wonderful day.Sun all the way.The birds are singing away here too. They must like this weather :-D

So Ann a little plastic clip foiled you LOL. Hope you can get it all set up now ready for when you leave.I still didn't see when you go?

Frank we go to France on the 16th,and no I don't eat snails or frogs legs !. In fact I don't think I have even seen frogs legs on a menu in France.I know lots of people love snails but I couldn't bring myself to eat them.Another thing on he menu sometimes is Horse.I won't be having that either.I looked up te weather for the next week in Avignon and although the temp looks good it looks like rain for several days.Hopefully by the time we go that will have cleared. It better have.
Frank you will have to get a supply of Beer in for the villa when you can't get to the bar :-D.The villa sounds lovely with a pool.It is a shared pool with other villas or a private one?Bet you can't wait to get there.it will be good to have a nice holiday before your knee op.You might find the journey to Devon in August too much if you haven't long had your new knee. But then you can always have lots of breaks along the way. There are plenty of service stations on route.

I don't know where Thomas has been since 3.30 am until just now.I was getting a bit worried. But I reckon he has had a full tummy and has been asleep in the sun somewhere. He has only been in for about half an hour and has gone off again !!

I have had an afternoon of ironing :-S.Not really someting i wanted to do on a nice day like this. But the pile was getting too big.I'll do the rest on Friday as we will be out to lunch tomorrow and I doubt I will wanting to be ironing when we get back.So no cooking for me tomorrow .Just popping James's curry in the oven :-D
I have meatballs and Spaghetti tonight .I found some really nice Meatballs in Sainsburys. They look big and meaty :-D

Annx Report 4 May 2016 17:39

I did say after you asked Jane ( 20.16pm last night).........we go this Friday, starting very early so we can get to the show in the evening in good time. I think you will be off on your hols as we return!!

I'm hoping it will at least be dry Liz, but not too hot! Falmouth is just south of where we stay and we usually have F&C there one day and watch all the boats that are moored! It must have been lovely to spend the time you did down there. I must say I'm tempted to move there sometimes, but it is such a long way to travel from there to go anywhere else in the country. Also, we tourists must get in the way in the summer!!

Well, I've planted the tomatoes, cucumber and front wall pots. I'm trying the tomatoes in tall, big plastic plant pots this year as the water won't tend to run off like it does with them in the ground. Less far to bend to pinch out the shoots and the tomatoes won't drag on the ground either!

Jane Report 4 May 2016 17:55

Sleeping well always happens with me with a good dose of sea air :-D.I have heard a lot of people say that. Also Frank, they do say the older you get the less sleep you need :-D(not implying you are old of course ;-) )

Just had a chat with Hannah and she said the Hen weekend went really well in Bath. There were 13 of them in the rented house. It must have been a big one.She still needs to buy her dress for the wedding in Santorini, just 3 weeks away. She had better get her skates on I think.
I have sorted out all my summer trousers today.I just need to get all the tops to go with them looked out.Plus footwear. Now that is the big one SHOES.I always say i will just take 3 pairs of sandals/shoes.........but I know it is more likey to end up as 5 or 6 :-S

Liz I am pleased to hear the the little Bat had gone.It must have been fine :-D
I still haven't seen any Swallows here.I have a friend down in Devon who lives in an old farmhouse and each year on a certain week he opens a window somewhere so they can come in and nest as they have used the same place for years. He has to put newspaper down to catch all the droppings !!
There seems to be a lot of nastiness going on on the window feeder. One chaffinch has taken root and not letting any other birds on there!.It is looking a bit empty so I better go and fill it up again.

magpie Report 4 May 2016 18:05

Yes Ann, we thought long and hard after my parents died about moving back to Falmouth or thereabouts, but both the offspring were still only 19 and 22, and still living at home and OH was still working. We did think again five years later when they'd both left home, and we were ready to move, but it was such a long way for us to meet up that we decided on Dulverton in Somerset. We'd spent holiday time there and knew we loved it, so that's what we did, ending up here in the Cotswolds 19 years later!!!
I've eaten snails Jane, but not frogs legs!!! I thought they were a bit rubbery, but OH loved them!!! I'm not that fussy about eating horse meat, after all.we eat cattle, pigs (who are highly intelligent!) sucking pig, sheep, baby lambs, so I don't really see any difference!
The wind's dropped and its really warm here! Oh time for Egg Heads!

Received my Blue Disabled Person's Parking Disc today :-)

Jane

Jane Report 4 May 2016 18:48

So now you get a car David :-D :-D..No good having your blue parking disc without a car.Have you had any luck in finding a suitable car?

I missed your post Ann last night saying when you are going.I bet you will love the show :-D.Fingers crossed there will be no hold ups for you on your journey.

I love Cornwall, but would never choose to live there. As you said it is too far and not easy to get to other parts of the country.I found Plymouth bad enough when I lived there for getting places.Even though living where I do now is not my favourite part of the country ,I can go anywhere by train ,motorway etc.The worst thing is I am so far away from the coast :-(

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 May 2016 19:16

Glad you've sorted the tom tom Ann.

I have been a very busy girl today. Two lots of washing dried and ironed my bits his did'nt need it as they were socks and fleeces only his pants and I don't iron those now.

We looked for posts around the garden to put the netting up at my chickens to stop the rabbits biting through the netting. He derove the mower with the trailer and I sat in the trailer and had a ride around all the garden but he has put hard wheels on it and my botty got sore.

Hoovered right through except the spare bedroom. Fed the chickens and let the bantams out earlier as they were moaning and oh was up the garden cutting back our big yellow conifer.

Took our afternoon cuppa up the garden to oh and we sat on the back of the trailer and drank it till oh pushed me a bit and I nearly choked on my COT. After a lot of coughing and wiping of my eyes.

I pottered about round my shed having a clear up and turfing out the old composts from my big pots for the toms. I still have to clean out the soak tray and I may put the cover on the little greenhouse thing I have this year.

I am just having a little sit down now and oh is in the shower and then I am doing cold pork egg and chips for dinner. I was going to cook a small leg of lamb joint but don't feel like it now after all I have done today.

Frank Report 4 May 2016 20:48

Evening all.

So Ann is off on Friday, Glad you got the TOM TOM working. It's funny how A LITTLE BIT OF PLASTIC can cause so much trouble., so only two more sleeps now !!!

Jane,. I will have a supply of beer in anyway, there is.a private pool with the villa. I like to hsve a stroll around and find a bar for a couple of pints. (No one else drinks) then Conrad, Jan and Ros pick me up and we go off to eat somewhere. We don't tend to eat in the apartment. I expect there will be a BBQ at the villa, if so I can do one or two to save going out..

I was going out to see the football, but felt tired out, so had a shower and washed my hair, and was in my dressing gown before 7.00 pm.

Master Chef on at 9.00 so I will watch that. Can't do with the Paladium lot !!! I then turn over to ITV 3 for Law and Order.. Then I go to bed, and leave Ros with her Jewellery or QVC. By the time she comes to bed I am dead to the world.

Lets hope this weather continues for the time being, it's so nice to feel a bit of sun on your back.

Enjoy your lunch out tomorrow Jane, in case I am not on in the morning.

Annx Report 4 May 2016 21:13

Yes I bet you were pleased to see the bat had gone Liz. It seems it was ok! I'm glad your Tom Tom is up to date without any problems!! I still haven't tried ours in the car yet. I have a trip to the hairdresser tomorrow so will try it then. We said just the same the other night, that we just want a good relax for a week and just potter about as we feel like it. We still can't believe all that happened since this time last year and I think it's why we seem to have lost our get up and go!! lol These things set your mind awhirring about unpleasant things and I think mine's got a bit stuck!! I'm hoping the change of scene will help change that.

I'm the same as you Jane, the Midlands might not be as nice as where there is clear fresh air and the sea, but it is handy for so many places and lots of things like theatres, cinema and museums which is particularly good in the winter. The roads are getting really congested though which isn't so good and I do wonder how it will be in a few years with all the housebuilding going on.

That's good news David.........now for the car!! You must go and try sitting in some so you get an idea what will be suitable.

You have been busy too Mel. It sounds like you had a bumpy ride and needed a cushion! OH has done all the ironing today which was good. He seems a lot better today and went to another meeting this afternoon. No more now till we get back.

Frank it sounds like everything is about sorted now for your next holiday. It's good the villa has a private pool and hopefully you will be able to potter about a bit.
