Anne Report 12 May 2016 19:13

Sandra, Shadow is one of our cats she's tortoiseshell & white and her brother is Toby and he is ginger & white they are both 7 years old.

We also had stir fry tonight Frank ,Richard had beef strips with his, David is in later as he plays pool on Thursday, he likes Faggots so he will have them with mashed potatoes and mushy peas, its all cooked and only needs heating in the microwave.
Not to mine and Richards taste so it works well this way.

Jane not long now to your holiday have you got your clothes sorted out now? It is difficult not knowing what the weather will be like when choosing what to pack.

Evening All,

Mel we haven't got up till 11.00am every day since we've been here! We get up,shower, go for lunch then decide what to do. We have both slept so well though. I've told OH I'm going to try an eye mask when I get home. I said if it didn't help I could cut 2 holes in for my eyes and be the 'Lone Ranger!' lol. He gave me one of his 'looks'.

Today was really misty this morning and we bumped into Sam, one of the owners, on the way out. Typical, we were going up to the north coast and he reckoned it was bad up there, but clear in the hollows. Anyway, we went for lunch and both had fish, OH Sea Bass and me Salmon Wellington and there was an adorable little yellow Lab puppy there. He was allowed in as they've just had him to walk for the Blind. He was stretched full length on his own little mat, fast asleep and oblivious to everything! We had a bit of drizzle then and it was quite misty on the cliffs where we walked. You could hear the sea, but not see it which seemed odd. Then we drove down to Penzance and Marazion, where the sea was visible! I spotted a bead shop at Hayle so OH parked up so I could look. I already knew there was one there, but didn't know where it was and thought it was probably just an online shop, so spotting it was a bonus. The ladies inside were having a beading class, so I was chatting to them for a while and looking at the lovely things they were all making. One was wearing a beautiful silver lariat style necklace she told me she had made from a kit. A bit later, I found the same kit for sale so have bought one of those. I said OH could get it for my birthday, but he said he'd get it me anyway. :-) Now he's gone to another match just down the road as I said I didn't mind (I've packed my stuff in half the time it would take with him here!).

I'm hoping it will be easier doing it on my own Jane. It's hard when you plan what to say next and the person next to you goes off on another track.......or says what you were going to say yourself !! I'll never relish doing these things like OH does! He's all excited about it!! lol. We'll have to look out for Janice on the Antiques Roadshow.

What a sweet daughter you have Gill. I'm not surprised you were moved to tears. She always sounds so willing to help you as well. I see you are getting on with the garden! Some of the older slabs are very thick and heavy but 2x2s are not so bad and you can walk them along tilting them onto each corner. A straight bit of wood with a jam jar on top with an inch or two of water in is a makeshift spirit level. Did you get something valued at the Antiques Roadshow when you went?

It looks like your old girl won't last a lot longer Mel, but she sounds happy enough reaching some water and pecking at greenstuff. Your OH is doing well with outside jobs. Mine says he must get on when we get home. All we've done is weeding and a bit of planting up to now.

Frank, I think part of the problem is us ladies have a wider selection of colours and styles we wear and they don't all go together! It's also easier to pack for somewhere that the sun is guaranteed. We tend to take 2 small trolley cases for one week, but mine expands a bit!! lol. :-)

We'll have to be up early tomorrow to be out of here by 10.00am. We might call for brekkie on the way!

Gillx Report 12 May 2016 22:54

OH watered all our garden when he got in from work Jane as our plants were drooping a bit too. It's been so hot here today, I hope the weather holds out for another few days so we can sort out the garage and move the greenhouse, then I can finish off taking down the rest of the hedge. We want to put a fence up instead so the hedge doesn't keep growing over the greenhouse. I can't believe how much light there is in the greenhouse now we've cut the hedge back, it's so bright and the plants love it, although it's also a lot hotter, so I'm having to open the door more to keep it from getting to hot.

So James is into money laundering with leaving a £5 note in his pocket :-D :-D :-D, he was lucky it was still intact. I'm often leaving money in my coat pocket Jane and forgetting about it, I found a tenner once, which was a nice surprise.

I've let Sandra know that you will try and send a pic of Thomas but that it might be after your holiday. She loves animals and is still talking about her visit to the zoo...bless her.

I'm pleased the weather turned out nice for you in the end Mel and you managed to get some outside jobs done. That's the problem with the British weather you never know what it's going to do and it can be such a nuisance if you have planned to do something in the garden and it rains. I think we're the only country where we can get all four seasons in one day LOL.

Yes Frank 1954 was 12 years before I was born.
I'm sorry to hear Ros has a bad back and hope she feels better soon. She does do a lot so maybe a little rest would do her good. Sandra isn't confident around people she doesn't know and shy's away, keeping herself to herself. The thought of working would frighten the life out of her. She doesn't mind helping family and does clean my mum's place for her each week. She helps mum with her garden too which she is doing at the weekend. Sandra's always loved plants and keeps looking at her strawberries everyday asking when they will be ready. I have to remind her that the flowers have to go before the strawberries arrive and then she has to wait a bit longer for them to grow big and ripen. It's a joy to see her face when she can finally pick and eat them. I must get some ice-cream for her soon as she like that with her strawberries, she's not keen on cream.

I thought it was you Anne who had a couple of cats but I couldn't remember their names. I can let Sandra know now. I haven't had Faggots for years Anne, I think the last time I had them was when I was pregnant with Sandra and that's 31 years ago.

It sounds like you've had a great day today Ann, OH and I went to Marazion in 1999 to see the eclipse, unfortunately it was cloudy so we didn't see it properly but the place was lovely. We went up St. Michael's Mount, the views from there were breath-taking.

What a stroke of luck to find the beading shop and then to watch a beading class. How nice to be able to buy the kit of the necklace, I'd love to see a picture of it when you're finished.
I never thought to use a jar with water in it as a spirit level. I'm quite surprised 4 out of the 5 flag stones I put down were level with the original patio slabs, just one stuck up a bit on one side, it was the first one we put in and I didn't notice it wasn't quite level until I'd finished. I don't think the greenhouse will go that far over so I've left it. I'm sure it won't take to long to level it if needs be.
Yes I got my nan's necklace valued when we went to the Antiques Roadshow and was surprised it was valued at £1,200, mind you it's quite a heavy gold necklace and the price of gold was quite high back then. My mum passed the necklace on to me after my nan passed away so I'll never sell it, but for insurance purposes I thought I'd better get it valued. Apparently it's Italian but for years we all thought my granddad bought it her from the middle east when he worked there. I do wear the necklace but not very often as I'm worried I might lose it. I'm always checking it to make sure it's still there when I do wear it on a night out and put it away safely the minute I'm back home.

Well, it's getting late so I'd better sign out and go to bed, I've got another early start in the morning with lots to do, so I'd better get some sleep.

Sweet Dreams Everyone
See you all tomorrow
Safe journey home Ann
Night Night <3

Morning all

Sunny but not very warm today.

OH is off work for the next three days so we're just about to start emptying the garage to make some room for the pots and benches out of the greenhouse. The plan is to move the greenhouse while all three of us are here, we are hoping to move the frame in one go once the glass has been removed. Sandra is spending the day with her gran tomorrow so it needs to be done today. We've also got some rubbish to take to the tip and the shopping to do, so quite a busy day ahead,
It's Friday 13th, so I hope nothing goes wrong.

What is everyone else up to today?

Anne

Anne Report 13 May 2016 08:37

Good morning Gill and everyone

Good luck with dismantling the greenhouse Gill, fingers crossed there is no broken glass. If you have the same weather as us it will be perfect for the job in hand.

I hope Ann and her OH have a safe journey back from Cornwall with no traffic hold ups along the way.

I'm just about to take Amy out, later on I'm going out to the garden centre with Janet one of my friends, we usually have lunch there as well as buying plants

Morning you lot and evening Kim,

Its a beautiful morning here with lovely sunshine and hardly a breath of wind. Typical as its the day Ann and Gordon come home.

Safe journey you two and I hope you don't meet too much traffic on the way.

Just having some toast and then I am going to put the washing on the line and round up another lot.

Good luck with the greenhouse move Gill and be carefull. Let Glyn take the glass out.

Gillx Report 13 May 2016 10:46

Unfortunately Anne there are about three pieces of glass that are broken so we'll have to be careful with those. The greenhouse was here when we moved in and it's never been moved, the glass was already broken but on the side where the hedge was so we couldn't get to it, Now we have cut the hedge right back it's given us a bit more room to take the glass out. OH is taking the glass out as he won't let me touch it incase I get cut. Hopefully the glass won't break any further and come out okay. Enjoy your time out with Janet, hope the weather is kind to you.

We were just going to take a few things out of the garage so OH could get to his drill but now we've decided to sort the whole garage out. Rosie is getting very confident and is eating her nuts with all the things on the patio right by her, she's not even bothered with us carrying on with our jobs. It looks like she's just had her babies so she's probably very hungry, hence why she's more bothered with her food than us.

The sun has really come out here now and it's not so cold, so that's good, although there is a bit of a breeze so the empty boxes keep getting blown around, I've had to weigh them down with other things for now.

Well, I'd better get back to it, OH and Sandra are waiting for me
See you all later.

Morning all, Evening Kim,

Very overcast and windy here. So different from yesterday.

Safe Journey home to the travellers.

I have decided I MUST try to get the lawns cut. They seemed to have grown over night ;-) ;-) ;-)

J & C have just rung to see if we would like to go to our Chinese tonight. We haven't been for a long time. Sunday the girls are going to HAMPTON COURT for the day. In the evening when they get back John has surgested we take them for ANOtherR MEAL OUT. I am afraid they might get to use to it ;-) ;-) <3 <3 <3,

Ros has just had her shower and washed her hain. So the dryer willbe whirling away anytime soon, so I will get into the garden.

See you soon.

Gill I will try to find some photo's of Monkeys and U rangatans (sp) when we were in Borneo. Sandra will love them.

Frank

Frank Report 13 May 2016 13:38

Well I am back indoors safe and sound. Both lawns are cut and trimed, and greenhouse watered.

My little blackbird is running around the lawn picking up and insects etc. He lets me walk right pass him and doesn't bother to fly away. I have just opened a bag of meal worms, and sprinkled them around. I've just looked out, and it seems he has found them. So babies will be well fed.

Suns out now and it's getting warmer. Liz will be soaking up the sun now if it's out. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I going to have a sit down for a rest. Then I will have my shower and shave and sit down again !!! I might even go outside and read my book.

Frank

Frank Report 13 May 2016 14:06

I was just looking for the photo's for Sandra, when I came across another part of my Family history. I will have to sit down and work it out but it goes back to 1716.

Mel, do you still have my family tree. ?? if so I wonder if I sent this infomation to you you could sort it for me. You know what I am like putting things in the wrong order.

Gill I still haven't found the photo's. ;-) ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 May 2016 14:28

Frank I can't add to your family tree love, only you can do it.

What line is it and do you know where it ends and connects to your tree?

Gillx

Gillx Report 13 May 2016 15:44

Don't worry about the photo's Frank, I'm sure Sandra will understand that you'll send them when you can. What luck to find some more info for your family tree.

The garage is finally sorted. Sandra and OH have taken the first of two loads of rubbish to the tip while I start to empty the greenhouse now we have some space in the garage to put it all. It's only the plants pots and few other things plus a couple of benches, although I'll need OH's help getting them over the lip of the door.

I've just got an email off Michelle she is coming down for a visit on 23rd May so we're all looking forward to that.

Well, I'd better get back to sorting out the greenhouse, be back later

Frank

Frank Report 13 May 2016 17:22

Mel, It goes from 1716 with a John Peacock Who married a Ann ??? and goes through to Horace Edward Bedford died 17/04/1920.It came completely out of the blue. From who I don't know. I do have a printed Family Tree, so I can start be going back from Horace. It was just a thought when I asked you. Thanks anyway. xx

The Clemitas has grown into the Cherry tree again this year and seems to have gone further into the branches. So as the blossom has fallen you can see the Clemitas.

It's starting to cloud over here now, so I expect we will get a shower later.

I'm all showered and shaved and dressed up, ready for going out at 5.50 pm. I think I had better take a light jacket, as I don't want to get wet going from the car park and visa versa.

Have a good evening all.

Evening all,

There's been no sitting out here today it's been really chilly ,hubby has just lit the fire so it's much more cheerful now.

Gill you have all been busy bees today sorting out the greenhouse ,i hope you managed to get all the glass out without breaking any more panes.
You will be counting the days until you see Michelle ,i know you miss her .
How lovely of Sandra to help you and write the note for you i can quite understand how it would move you to tears ,she really is a loving daughter you should be so proud of her <3

Frank you will have gone by now but i hope you enjoy your Chinese tonight .

I expect Ann and OH will be home by now unpacking and sorting out the washing .

How is the packing going Jane ?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 May 2016 18:44

I keep trying to get up the border but have had to come down to put the chicken on. I have done it with lemon and onion. Its only a crown so won't take that long to cook. New pots brocc and runners.

Hope Ann and Gordon had a good ride home. As Mandy said I bet the washing machine is going full pelt and they have been out to water the greenhouse.

I have washed my big pots for the tom plants and potted up some more of my young strawberries three to a pot so we will see how they fare this year.

Evening Everyone
My goodness is is really cold now.The heating is back on .No fire though.I have only just finished clearing all the mess the basket of logs left so don't really want to muck things up just before we go away.
No packing done yet Mandy.Just piles of clothes on the spare bed lol I have done my toilet bag though.
I am just in from having my lovely eye treatment and facial.Ohh it is so relaxing.
But now I have to start dinner :-S.It is easy though ,as James has a Toad in the Hole and Chris and i are having F&Cs.They just all need popping in the oven.James is going to Chislehurst to Jess tonight.

Gill I bet you are all exhausted now after all the work you have done today.Time to put your feet up :-DIt is good that Sandra enjoys helping you.Fancy Rosie not being bothered wit hall the work going on around her while she ate.As you say if she is busy feeding babies she will just need to stock up on as much food as she can .But she knows you so well now that she must feel safe :-D.Not long now before you see Michelle. That will be nice.Is she coming to stay or is just a day trip?

Frank it will be nice to see the Clematis coming through once the blossom has finished.

Chris has spent about 3 hours cutting the grass today !!!!!.He has done all around the bottom too ,all around all the veg patches(which is all a bit fiddly). He's done other stuff too so is quite pooped now.

Gill I have sent a few pics for Sandra.
Must get in the kitchen

I had an appointment through today for October for an Ultrasound Injection ( in my hip)
Just looked it up :-S.The Ultrasound guides a needle right into the joint to give a Steroid Injection. Not sure I like the sound of that .But it is a long way off so I will forget all about it for now :-D
More important things to think about at the moment (holiday :-D :-D)

I expect Ann and Gordon are back home now.I hope the journey wasn't too tedious with any roadworks or hold ups.I am sure they will feel nice and refreshed now after a week in Cornwall :-D Trouble is a week just flies by so quickly. You are back home again too soon.
My friend Sue (an old childhood friend ) has just flown out to Corfu today for a fortnight. On her own. I told her I hope she has a Shirley Valentine holiday :-D :-D
