Yes Mel, we got lots done and apart from a little section we wanted to fence in we're finished for now and it looks okay for Michelle's arrival. The extra fencing is right down the garden so can't be seen very well unless you walk down there, so that can wait. We ended up moving the greenhouse back to where it came from after we'd taken down the hedge as it was so windy with nothing there and very cold in the garden. It's much better now the greenhouse is back and the bamboo screen is in place. We ended up putting the screen above the original fence to about 7 foot high. You can see through it a bit so we might add some more after Michelle's visit to give us a bit more privacy, I'm also thinking of putting some type of window boxes or long trough type pots where the fence and the screening meet so we can grow climbers up over the screening as a further wind break and for added privacy. I didn't realise how private it was with the hedge there, but the hedge had started growing outwards as well as up and was leaning on the greenhouse roof, we were worried it would break more glass and it blocked all the light out of the greenhouse too, which is why we took those out. Hopefully it'll look better once the job is finally finished, but for now it's okay for when Michelle gets here, which is what we wanted.
So you're a day ahead of yourself today then Mel ;-) Did you get your big breakfast in the end or did your OH stop you in time? Sorry to hear about the hog, but at least he had you there at the end.
Thanks Mandy for sending the email off Jane, it's a huge place, I wonder what it looked like inside? I forgot about the hat too, wouldn't it be good if Jane did take it and we all get a photo of it on it's hols? :-D :-D So Max is getting used to his walks now, they grow up so quickly don't they? Sorry to hear he's not well at the moment, hope he's better soon.
I hope you and Ros are okay after your falls Frank. Nice to hear the baby is on the road to recovery, it must of been a worrying time for you all? Hope Carolyn manages to get the treatment she needs to sort her heart and kidney's out. Poor Ros doing all this running around. I bet you'll be glad when you go away? You'll be forgetting what Ros looks like at this rate, she's hardly ever with you LOL.
Pleased to hear Cass's wound is healing nicely Liz. I've never heard of anyone brushing dogs teeth before, I don't think I'd have the nerve :-S I'm sure you can buy chew sticks, that's suppose to help with tar tar build up? I'm sure I've seen adverts for them on TV. It sounds like you've been as busy as me lately ;-) Hope your daughter has a great birthday <3
I'm just about to catch up with all my programmes I've recorded this week, there are a fair few of them, so I'd better make a start as Sandra is waiting.

I always used to brush our last dogs teeth all her life Gill. We brush and comb her most days so it's just part of her grooming g programme and it's's no problem so long as you start when they are very young. Those chews you mentioned are completely useless and very addictive, so I would never use them. Cas loves her toothpaste and regards the whole thing as a game! I heard from my Australian cousin today and she will be in the UK for three weeks in June and will be coming to see us for the night! We haven't seen her for about ten years so we shall a lot of catching up to do! I'm afraid she'll have to take us as she finds us, as there is no way I'm doing a lot of work in the house or garden!! It'll be lovely to see her though! What a wet and miserable day it's been! OH has done a bit more planting in the garden, but apart for on that, we've not done much today! Family tomorrow, so chicken for lunch, new pots, and cauliflower. Apple crumble for pudding!

For the last hour we have been trying to clear our drain to the septic tank. I think it is clear now just one more bath of water to wash down and I can start getting dinner as soon as oh has been in the shower.
I ran some water to wash my hands in the little loo tiny basin and the water did'nt go down. Thats when I told oh who was'nt very pleased. We have usually eaten by now.

We've had to use drain rods on occasion when we lived in Somerset, and once since we've lived here. It can be quite a performance!! We always keep them at the ready just in case!! We're watching a programme about the battle of Jutland, it's really interesting! Then The Hollow Crown, then bed!

You have my sympathy Mel, I remember when we had blocked drains and it's no joke is it? Hope it's all sorted for you now.
I didn't know you could buy doggy toothpaste Liz, it's good that Cass thinks of it as a game, she's such a lovely dog. I've really taken to her and love to hear all about her and how's she's getting on. I didn't know the chew sticks didn't work that well or that they could be addictive, but I suppose thinking about it I can see how they could be and would probably put weight on the dog if they had to many. How lovely to see your Australian cousin, that's something to look forward to. Are you taking your cousin out anywhere, or just catching up at yours? I bet you can't wait?
OH's just got in from work so I'm going to make him a cuppa and something to eat. Then I think it's an early night for me, I'm shattered with all the work I've done this past week.
See you all tomorrow Night Night

Morning all and evening Kim,
Sunny then heavy showers while the sun is still out. Now the sky is blue again with big white fluffy clouds. I thought today was suppose to be a better day but perhaps this is what they call a better day!!
Nothing planned as usual will just see what the day brings. Must look at my seeds and see if any have come up.
I bought a pack of busy lizzies yesterday at the shop. I have'nt had them for a couple of years so we will see how they do in my tubs.

Afternoon all,
Lovely sunny day here ,we've been out this morning called in to take Jake his birthday presants ,we will go later for a birthday tea , called at Homebase and they were selling trays of Pertunias for a pound so bought a couple of trays and i have planted them up in my wall planters , i couldn't see any thing wrong with them they are nice strong plants so that was a bargain.

I think it is the first time Gill has meet the boyfriend Mandy. I hope all get on well together. It will be great for Gill and Sandra to see her after this long while. They will have so much to catch up on.
Well afte rthis mornings rain it has turned nice again. We had our BIG breakfast with added sausages as oh said he liked a sauage with a fried breakfast. He got three small chipolatas, 4 mushrooms, two frank furters, tom, beans, 4 rashers of bacon two eggs (ours) on two slices and two hash browns and a glass of orange juice. After that he went and had a lie down and fell asleep while I watched a film on the tv.
He is now out sorting the new chicken run so I had better put in an appearance.
Dermo you made me laugh with todays story. I alway think what is on the communion goblet at church and what do they wipe it with on the cloth??????? in the same place each time???????

Family just gone as they had to get back in reasonable time as granddaughter has exams tomorrow and she wanted to get in some more revision! We've had a lovely day and it didn't rain!! So the dogs got a good run, and OH cooked lunch! Goodness Mel, that was a huge breakfast! I don't think either of us could eat that much!! Your post was far too graphic for me Dermot, to the point that I found it a bit disgusting. Peoples head colds don't do anything for me as a topic of conversation. Sorry! Thank you Gill for you kind words about Cas. I'll try and get a pic of her having her teeth cleaned to show to you and Sandra!!!: <3 No supper for us tonight! Hooray, just empty the dishwasher and that's me for today!

Evening All,
It's been a nice day here too, better than I expected with more sun.
<3HAPPY BIRTHDAY <3 to Jake! I hope he has enjoyed his 11th birthday. :-) Those Petunias were a bargain at a £ a pack Mandy. I wonder if our Homebase has any left? lol I remember you putting up your boxes last year and the plants will trail nicely over the edge and Max can't reach them!!! :-D How are the trots now? Better I hope.
Gill, I don't think I could have faced moving the greenhouse back again, so it would have to have stayed put! lol. Dogs don't mind toothpaste as it is meat flavoured! :-) I wouldn't mind if mine was chocolate flavoured! lol.
Liz, I would have enjoyed your lunch, especially the apple crumble........it's ages since I had one, but Mandy's success with her waistline means I mustn't weaken just yet, till I can see some success. It will be nice to see your Australian rellie in June. You will both have changed a bit in 10 years.
Mel, I couldn't eat all that either and neither could OH, it would be 2 days food for me, but your OH does do a lot of manual work to burn it off!! :-)
We went to see an open garden this afternoon. It was full of railway and other memorabilia so was quite interesting. It wasn't a large garden, but there was a signal and even a bit of rail track laid in it!! There were some plants I hadn't seen before as well, but I didn't get chance to ask about those. Then we went to a garden centre for a mooch round but I didn't buy anything. Some outbuildings there have little shops in them and one has paintings, glassware and craft things. I brought a leaflet away with me as they hold all kinds of craft classes there, including fused glass and felting and wirework.
I checked the local planning applications this afternoon and it's more doom and gloom for us! There's an application for a huge commercial development and it goes right from the new houses they built that we see from our front windows now and will be in the next 2 fields down to the park and ride. It goes way back to the M1 and across the back of the 2 fields at the bottom of our gardens!! I said to a neighbour how long before they build on those and she said the farmer that rents them for his cows found an estate agent walking across them the other day and when he asked what she was doing, she said she was doing it on behalf of a developer!!! The owner has told the farmer he has no plans to sell just yet........but for how long I wonder, especially when the price is right! :-S

No, don't go Dermot, you have posted some very interesting things on here before. I was interested in the cage birds you spoke of as when my paternal grandfather died, dad came home with his pet Goldfinch he had for me. It was a cock bird and sang so beautifully. Grandad was the grandson of a traveller so was probably used to such pets. I think the bird was ringed so most likely bred in captivity, but I often wondered how they caught them in the wild. I was a teenager at the time and remember when some gipsies came round collecting scrap, they wanted dad to sell them the bird.

No don't go Dermot you haven't upset me ,i like reading your memories .
Back from Jakes birthday tea and very nice it was too.
What a feast you have Mel :-D no wonder OH needs a lie down :-D Yes no Frank today ,i hope he's ok.
Thats not sounding good if that development gets the green light Ann ,money does talk doesn't it . Max is much better now ,the antibiotics help and the medicine too ,we just have to wait to hear from the vet how the test goes and then hopefully get the right antibiotics to treat it.

That certainly sounds suspicous Ann having an estate agent walking the field. They don't do that for nothing do they?
Oh has been on the digger this afternoon clearing up out the front up by the old workshop. He has brought the old veg barrow down to use as a shelter for the chickens. He is also doing their new run. Today he cut the grass in their run and repositioned the post for the fencing. He is going to put chicken wire up so the rabbits can't bite through it. I bought the wire a few weeks ago 50 meters of it.
Dermot please carry on with your posts as most are interesting.
Signing out now and hoping to hear from Frank in the morning as I do hope he is ok.

Good Morning Everyone
It's sunny at the moment here but quite chilly in the breeze. The rhodedendrums are fully out now and along with the whie flowers on the mountain ash trees Amy's walk is looking pretty.
We met Aiden, Abbie's latest boyfriend on Saturday they called in on the way to the fair which visits every year. He is such a nice polite young man even offered to make everyone a cup pf tea and washed his own cup afterwards, its a shame he lives so far away and has to change trains twice to get here.
Pauls due to pick me up shortly, we are going to the crematorium and then onto the garden centre to buy more plants for my pots and also have our lunch there.
Still no Frank, I hope all is well for him & Ros.
I stopped reading Dermots last post when I realised what the subject was but I hope he does stay with us as it was very interesting reading all about his childhood on his other posts.
Paul is outside now so bye for now

Good morning all, Evening Kim,
Posted yesterday and lost the lot, so gave it up. !!
Had a fruitfull day yesterday in as much, I got dinner prepared in the morning, had an hour wiuth the paper.
I then went down to my "PATCH" and planted some Brussels, lettuce, carrots, beetroots, and then left Ros to finish off. My legs were aching, as was my back. I DIDN'T FALL OVER ONCE !!!
Ann that is not the of thing you want to hear from the farmer. How many homes around you that could complain should it go to planning stage ?? Lets hope it dosen't come to that.
Glad you had a nice day with your daughter Liz, Lets hope her daughter gets on well with her exams xx
We had a cess pit when we lived at Gayton. It was for ever playing up, and needed roding on a regular basis. When we sold in the 90s out then next door neighbour told us that the pipes underground had COLLAPSED and they had to have the lot replaced.
Just had a nice interuption. MEL RANG, to check I am alright. Thanks all for thinking of me. xxx
Ros is going to hospital to sit with Carolyn, she has to have this biopsy and then lay for SIX HOURS on her back. So Ros will be able to sit and chat to her. Right I am posting this before it dissapears. Shower and Shave and get dressed.!!!
