Jane I'm pleased that Thomas is back but so sad he has been injured but at least no broken bones' I'm sure the vet can mend his injuries, I know when Timmy broke his front leg in two places he had to be confined for at least a couple of months We had him in a large dog cage in the kitchen with enough room for a bed, water & food bowls plus the dirt box. He was also given liquid pain killers. At night we used to partly cover the cage with a cotton cover..
I have only read Jane's post so far just to check for any news on Thomas.

I could get in this crate .It's BIG !. We are going to Pets at home in a minute to see if we can get a carrier that is easier for getting him in and out of with out hurting him.I also need a couple of smaller bowls for water and food.Must remember cat litter too.
My head is still banging :-S

So pleased nothing was broken Jane, although his hip will be sore for a while. I think you can buy clip on bowls for the crate, that way you can put the food and water at the right level for him to eat and drink without him having to move around to much. It must be such a relief knowing he's going to be okay now. Not long to go before he's home with you.
Thanks Mandy for the info on the Cana plant, I can't believe how quickly it's growing now, after such a slow start. Red flowers are my favourite, we got a 5 foot red Rhododendron and a purple one the same size in massive pots off MIL the other week. She didn't want them anymore and the red one is in full bloom and looks so pretty, the purple one isn't far behind flowering in full either. They're almost as tall as me. I can't put them in the ground as we don't have the right soil type so we are going to make some space at the bottom of the garden for them once we've finished all the jobs we have to do, at the moment they are outside our living room window where we can watch the bees taking the nectar and of course see the beautiful flowers :-) :-)

OH says to tell you Jane , that he's really please that Thomas has been found. I wouldn't think he'll have to rest for too long if his hip is not broken, I expect you may find that he won't wander as far in the future, which will be a good thing! Have just watered the garden, so I expect it'll rain tonight. Shopping for us tomorrow as I have my cousin coming for the day on Wednesday. Not sure if she'll stay the night but shall cater for that just in case!

Thomas is home.High as a kite (on drugs) and insisting sitting and sleeping in his litter tray !!!! The litter is all over the bottom of the crate now. :-D..I can't remember what I said in my last post so sorry if I repeat myself. My head is all over the place. Tomorrow morning I take him back to the vet for more pain killerand anti biotic injections. Then on Wednesday morning we have to get him to Northampton by 8.10am for an op later that day.Unfortunatley the vet who deals with bone ops here is on holiday ,hence having to take Thomas to Northampton .They will cut off the ball bit of the hip joint as popping it back in place won't work. Not looking forward to sleeping down here tonight though ..He will no doubt sleep and I will be watching tv..jeremy Kyle or some such rubbish LOL.I think he will have to be kept confined for quite a time after the op. I just wish he would sleep on his nice little bed bit rather than his litter tray. Not sure he is the full ticket at the moment. Thankyou everybody for all your concern and good wishes .I'm sure he will be fine in the end.Just not nice at the moment. His little back legs are all shaved ,and more shaved for his op.He is going to look a right honey :-S....I feel quite pooped. We haven't eaten yet .Dinner is in the oven but we have no appetite

It's good you're home Jane and Thomas is comfortable. Cas was as high as a kite after her op and it took about four days for her to be her old self again, so don't worry if he seems a bit odd for a few days!! I think you'll find he'll sleep like a baby, so I can see you going up to bed after a while!! We've just come in after spending nearly all day outside. Cas has had a good run in the field at the back of us and is snoozing! OH has just put on the TV, first time today :-D.hopefully tomorrow will be the same! Too much of it, and I get pretty irritated! so TV free days are - lovely!!!!

This is the first chance I have had to get on here as we have both been busy in the garden all day.
I am so pleased your neighbour managed to spot Thomas and now he has been to the vets and has pain killers etc. Jane you must have been soooooooo pleased to hear someone had found him. It sounds to me like he has been hit by a car from his injuries. One of mums cats was hit in the face and had to have her jaw sewed up back on her skin. She was in such a bad way but recovered fully which I am sure Thomas will. Perhaps he may stay in a bit more when he is better. Poor Thomas, thank goodness your neighbour was'nt on holiday!! XX big kisses for the poor boy.
I am about to go and shut the chickens in now and feed the hogs as its just gettig dark.
I'm so pleased he is home, I just can't stop thinking about it. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

He's got another G A on Wednesday Liz!! I have got my cushions sorted on the floor ,pillows and a duvet which is far too big ,so that will be kicked off soon.Just hope I am decent when James comes downstairs in hte morning :-S I have managed to get Thomas out of the litter tray and he is now half on his little padded bed. If he hasn't done a poo by the morning the vet said he will give him an enema just to help things move as it might be too painful for him to do any straining . Now going to try and settle down in my new bed. Night Night
Mandy have you heard how your DIL's dog is doing after that major op? I really hope he is doing well.

Pleased to hear Thomas is home safe and sound now and is in his bed, well, half way anyway. Hope you have a decent nights sleep Jane I'm sure Thomas will sleep well tonight after all the drugs he's had so please don't worry. I'm sure he'll let you know if he needs you.
Off to bed now, I'm really tired, it must be the heat. We're suppose to be getting some rain tomorrow, so hopefully that'll cool things down a bit. See you all tomorrow Night Night

My Canna seeds hav'nt come up yet, none of them. They won't come true to the mother plant from seed so may not be the same as Mandy's plant. They like a nice warm spot in the garden. I had them once up on the south wall in the veg top garden. They were the ones with dark leaves and orange flowers.
Oh screwed the new bit of decking down today and then made me a tower in sheep wire for my big half plastic barrel and I put the beans in. He then drilled hole in the tub and put cable ties to the wire so it won't blow over. I moved all the pklants from the front of my shed and tied my two sets of shelving together and put most of my strawberry plants on it and then I can cover the whole lot with netting to keep the birds off.
Shopping day tomorrow and then I want to get the tom plants onto the new decking so hopefully they won't get blown about there as its very sheltered. He's done it so the hogs can still get underneath and into the back garden where I feed them.
Into the shower now as it is so hot in here and I dare not open the windows as the midges come in and all the moths. I may just go and find a fan.

There was a cartoon in a national newspaper a good while ago which depicted a woman talking to a priest at the funeral of her beloved husband in a Church where a couple of hundred chairs were provided for the service but only a handful of mourners attended. “It’s strange,” she confided. “I expected a bigger turnout – he had hundreds of friends on his Facebook page.”
And therein lays the problem. Friends are only friends if you can turn to them in times of joy or trouble.
But Facebook encourages some sort of a Parallel Universe where I can be friends with people I've never even met and – if the truth were known – perhaps I'd never want to. Part of the Facebook phenomenon is to establish my own popularity by acquiring as many ‘virtual’ friends as possible. I accept all invitations and invite everyone I can think of to join my cyber club.
And then I might feel I have to justify this investment in digital friendship by making my life seem much more interesting than it actually is, revealing little things about myself and my adventures for all of the people in this select world to see, read & admire. Some even have pity on me. Our Government readily admits its ability to snoop into our cyber dalliances at their leisure. Mine will bore the Government Operatives to tears.
I sometimes post photographs I'd never show to these people if I actually laid eyes on them, of events they were never at and probably never knew had even existed. To make matters worse, the common denominator in all of these photo images is that almost everyone has 'red eye' – a sure indication caused by too much alcohol rather than the light-flash on the camera.
I desperately trying to focus on the camera while grinning like a madman at the person taking the mugshot, all the while looking more like a dirty old man with a sweat problem than a party animal living the high life abroad in Ibiza.
So it was no surprise to find out that a recent UK survey saw Britons admit to being drunk in three quarters of photographs posted on Facebook. Equally unsurprising was the admission by more than half of those surveyed that there were photographs on the Net they would not want colleagues, employers or parents to see. And while it’s all great fun to stumble into a picture with a passing hen party as you meander your way home after chucking-out time on a Friday night, it can be viewed in a whole different light by the morning.
Finally, just remember dear real or virtual friends, if you do not attend my funeral (in due course if I live that long!), I will not attend yours. So, with that piece of high quality Irish logic, I'll put an end to your misery of having to read anything more.
Away with ye now!

Morning, I managed to wash my hair this morning, desperate to get it cut, having an easy day to day, my Frank home at noon, great because Sofia will be here after school, she is no bother at all, when I could cope with having the grand kids around , she would understand and just sit and read stories to me. :-D

Morning all
Jane i hope you had a good night with Thomas and you manged to get him settled on his bed and out of the litter tray in the end ,i bet that was the best nights sleep he has had for a few nights ,the drugs would have helped.
Nice day here ,we're just going to have a coffee and then do a bit of shopping .
DIL'S sisters dog had to go back to the vets yesterday as the stitches had come undone so they were going to put staples in , don't think he's doing to well at the moment .

Morning Everyone and Fiona!
Glad you are feeling well enough to join in again Fiona. Getting your hair cut will give you a boost I'm sure. It always makes me feel better! :-) What a nice girl Sofia has been, sitting reading to you.
Poor old Thomas must be sore and he does look sorry for himself at the vets and in his crate Jane but he looked comfy with his soft blanket to rest his head on. It's a wonder nothing was broken if his hip is dislocated, but at least he won't need bones pinning. I bet you will be glad when his operation is done now and he is home recovering.
More truths from Dermot I see! I don't know how people manage to contribute to so many social media sites at once. It's probably why they walk into me on pavements and in shops!! Haven't people become rude with their use of mobile phones too. I was watching the GP surgery prog the other night and couldn't believe the woman who prioritised answering her mobile over the doctor dealing with her. What on earth made her think that was acceptable when she was delaying appointment times and there were probably people waiting their turn who may be seriously ill or in pain!
I used to have red and orange Cannas in our island flower beds and they are lovely showy plants. I seem to remember one had several colours in the leaves.....I must dig out some old photos to check.
It looks like I need to take back a couple of things I got yesterday to Matalan. I never seem to learn that sleeveless tops with large frilly edged armholes do not suit me!! lol.
Our window cleaner has become very unpredictable with what day he turns up and at what time. He used to be regular as clockwork but now it's 'who knows'. The trouble is I daren't have a shower till he's been and can be sat about waiting in vain like I have today today for several days. Also we can't lock the side gate if we go out in case he turns up :-S Then if we miss him he tends to come early Sunday morning for his money when we are usually up late. :-S

Morning All
Mandy he slept in the tray all night!!,and he must have done a wee in it too bless him.Must have been away with the fairies...He is like then again now as he has just had more injections ...plus an enema! I drove home as fast as was possible and got him in the house.Let him out of his basket by the litter tray and BINGO !!!..I was dreading it happening in the car. My sleep was dreadful.I think I will be having a bit of shut eye this afternoon. Have spoken the Vet in Northampton who do the op tomorrow and he reckons that will be in the region of £800..I may be able to bring him home tomorrow evening. If not he will be sent back to Our vets here over night for pain control. Thomas is crashed out on the floor .While he is out for the count he will be fine out of the crate. I now have to ring the GP..It's all go this morning.
