Morning All,
I didn't get far at the opticians, despite being there first thing......they can't see me till ten to six tonight so I'm going then. They tried two of their other branches for me and they were the same. :-S
Dermot our mayor in the city is much the same.........anything 'good' being done anywhere and his face will be in the photo!! lol. As for the post I'm sure ours gets held back till there's enough to make it worth walking up our drive. We can go 3 days with NIL then the floor under the letterbox will be covered.
I wonder if Mandy's got stuck into her book yet. How the time can drag with all the waiting there is at hospitals.

I hope it all goes well for Mandy and Colin today. Its not nice waiting around in hospital and Iv'e done enough of that with mum. Hope the books good andnot a failure as that would put the cat among the pigeons.
Talking fo cats is it today Thomas has his stitches out? If it is good luck Thomas I hope you get a good report. You know I still can't see how taking the end off his bone is going to make his leg better again? Does he have a new hip joint???

Morning all
After a couple of nice days, weather wise, it's looking very dull today with rain forecast. I hope it doesn't rain when the wardrobe arrives. It's suppose to be here between 12 noon and 2pm, I got a text at 8am this morning with the time slot and to say they will ring within an hour of arrival time. So I decided to have my morning cuppa outside while it was still dry and who turned up but Rosie, I haven't seen her for a while, probably because of all the work we're doing in the garden. The place is a bit upside down so it's probably put her off. She looked very thin, so I hope she makes more visits so I can fatten her up again :-D
Hope all goes well at the hospital for your OH today Mandy, I'll be thinking of you both.
Hope all goes well for Thomas too Jane.
I've been busy in the garden these past two days while OH was off work, so I've not caught up with all the posts yet ........ will do that now.
See you all later <3

Morning to you all, evening Kim,
Ros rang the doctors at 8.00 am to get appointments for both of us. When she rang yesterday they said they do not have any appointments for the next two weeks. ONLY emergency ones, and to phone at 8.00 am. We got appointments for 9.40 for me and 9.50 for her.
I thought I had trouble with my kidneys, but she thinks it's my bladder, and preasure on my spine from my bad legs. More tests and tablets Ros's left leg is giving her a lot of pain. This has been put down to siatica (sp) and she has to go for a MRI scan, and up her tablets. So all in all not great results.!! ;-) ;-)
Mandy I hope everything goes to plan for your OH at e hospital. This will be me next month. :-( :-( :-(
It's a very wet morning here. Not a clear patch in the sky anywhere. So no sun lounger again today. In fact it's cool enough to have a bit of heating on or to put a jumper on.
Ros has gome to get some odds and ends for the curry tonight. No doult she will have a nose around as she's on her own.
As for me it's a bacon sarnie and a coffee. <3 <3 <3

Well I popped into the surgery too this morning and they decided to give me an emergency appointment this morning. The doctor was very good and is taking precautions in case I've had a TIA. I have to wait for the hospital to ring me then go for a full day to have checks, scans done. In the meantime, like Frank it's more tablets to take!! If it turns out not to be a TIA, the doctor said it would have been caused by migraine. She did say that it is unusual for this type of migraine to start in my age group, usually it's much younger people. Even worse I can't drive the batmobile till I've been checked out!!!! :-S OH is going to have to be my chauffeur for a few days!! lol.

A Transient Ischaemic Attack Mel, otherwise known as a mini stroke. I keep wanting to go out now, then remember I can't drive!!! I'm not used to being at home all day. :-S I bet Thomas feels just the same. lol. I was going to a talk tomorrow night as well and then to another Focus Group next Wednesday so I hope they see me before then. Still, it's best to be checked out rather than leave things and regret it later.
What a problem the lorries are buzzing up and down the close now. When I went out earlier a big lorry was having a load of trouble getting out of the end of the close because a big van had parked on the road near the end. I thought he was going to knock the field fence down. Just now a massive concrete mixer had to do a 3 point turn at the end where our road joins the rest of the close. There were vehicles parked there too and then he had to let a big scaffold lorry out past our bungalows before he could reverse down to the new building going on. Our pine tree on the front has damaged branches one side where vehicles keep brushing past it and then there is all the beeping going on when these vehicles reverse past. It starts at 7.30am now and the men are shouting to each other at the tops of their voices.
The rain that was forecast here hasn't arrived yet, but it looks like it soon could.
I hope Gill's wardrobe has arrived and that she's managing to get some things put away in it and get a bit straighter. :-)

Afternoon all,
What a morning , we got to the hospital just before nine and got home about one thirty hubby had height, weight, blood pressure ,an ECG with one nurse we then had to sit back in the waiting room before seeing the Pharmacist to talk about his medication,we then sat back in the waiting room before seeing the nurse practioner who went through loads of questions and took blood ,we then saw the surgeon who explained what he would be doing ,it's going to be a four hour op ,taking longer than normal as hubby has to have a bit more done ,he has to have some wiring done to part of his bone that has broken, and he should be on crutches for six to eight weeks He also had to go for an x ray ,so quite a full morning . Then to top it all the car park cost us six pounds as we just went over the four hours !! He now has to go back on Monday afternoon to see the Anaesthetist .
You did the right thing getting checked out Ann ,not so good that you carn't drive lets hope it was just a migraine , i hope you soon hear from the hospital . Have you been ok today ? Will let Robin drive the "Bat Mobile " LOL

O silly me of course!!!!!!!!!!!! It was best to get checked out though Ann just to be on the safe side. Hope everything is ok. I bet you do feel grounded not being able to drive and go the places you want to go. Would G take you to the focus group and pick you up afterwards?
Been outside doing some potting on and oh has been up the top again. We just had a cuppa outside but then there was a few drops of rain so I brought the washing in as it had been drying quite well and I did'nt want it getting wet again.

Afternoon All Ann,I hope it is just a migrane that caused the vision trouble and not a TIA. Did you have any other symptoms? That is a blow not being able to drive until you have been checked out.It really did sound just like what I get with my vision every now and then
Oh Mandy what a long day you had at the hospital.Just one more visit for OH then before his op.
Frank that was lucky Ros managed to get your 2 appointments together.Just one trip for the both of you. it seems to have been a medical day for lots of you today !
Has the Cupboard arrived Gill? You will pleased when it is put together and in place. Did you say that you think Rosie might have had babies?(or was that another squirrel) She might be thin if she is feeding.
Mel, Thomas no longer has that joint. At the moment the femur will be quite loose, but once all the muscles and tendons heal they will hold the bone in place. One thing for sure is that Thomas will never get arthritis in that hip :-)..He was so good having the stitches out.He just stood there and didn't move an inch :-D.The vet is very pleased with everything and i will just need to take him back again on July 12th for another check up.I still will have to have him on restricted movement for maybe 6 weeks. So the harness and lead will be well used.He really doesn't like it at all. Neither do I but there is no other way of letting him get a bit of the outdoors .
I had a massive Hornet fly in through the befroom window earlier!!! Luckily I managed to flick it back out before it started flying around the room.
Are we all voting tomorrow?

Sorry to hear you can't drive at the moment Ann, lets hope it was a migraine and not a TIA. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
I'm glad Thomas was okay at the vets Jane. Six weeks is a long time for him but he'll be thankful of you using the harness and lead if it means he'll heal better. Good news that he won't get arthritis in that hip ;-) I think you might be right about Rosie, she has just given birth, so is probably thin because she's feeding her babies.
Bit of a to do today Mandy, but only one more appointment to go before the op. That's a lot of money for parking, can you claim it back, or at least some of it?
Hope the weather improved for you Frank and you managed to get outside on your lounger. We had a bit of rain earlier but it's sunny and hot outside now.
The wardrobe arrived safe and sound and is now in the front room waiting for OH to put together for me. He's in work today and busy tomorrow so it'll probably be Friday when it gets done. I can't wait, it'll be nice to make a start unpacking the boxes and putting things away at last. I was very lucky as thankfully the rain stopped just long enough for the fella to bring it in, then a few minutes after he'd left it started raining again.
Off to watch Celebrity Masterchef now, it's the first one of this series and is on BBC1 if anyone wants to watch it <3

You did have a busy time at the hospital Mandy and still another visit to go before hubby's op. The car park charges are hefty aren't they and it's annoying when you don't quite get back to your car before the next charging band applies. I expect I'll have a fair bit to pay when I get checked over. I bet you both feel worn out now and I expect Max was pleased to see you when you got back. :-) I'm not giving Robin any ideas about the Bat Mobile. :-) If I tell him it needs fuel, he won't be so keen! lol. ;-)
Yes Mel, he's already offered to take me to the Focus Group if I want him to and to the talk tomorrow which is good.
Jane, I didn't get any other symptoms and was grinning in the rear view mirror to check if my face stayed straight. No numbness or difficulty raising arms, just the visual problem. I've been back and had my eyes tested now and they are fine and the optician said from what I described she thinks it is most likely migraine too. I think if I hadn't noticed the number plates or road signs I might have just thought my eyes were tired or something. Thomas has been a really good patient with all things medical hasn't he. I bet the vet is pleased to treat such a good cat too.:-) How is Fitz doing with Podge and his injections?
Well I'm off to bed now as it's an early start tomorrow as the boiler is being serviced at 8.30am. I got the dog programmes mixed up yesterday and it's the one I said about before that's on tonight!

The days seem to have long departed where there was a concentration on ‘reading, writing and arithmetic’. They should surely be the basics of education, but newspaper reports lately seemed to indicate that standards are low in a key number of cases, and that the standard of teaching was also questionable in a minority of areas.
In one national newspaper, there was a report of a plan to ban calculators from maths tests. It follows in line with other recent more worrying stories in the UK where it was found that significant numbers of children were close to illiterate when they completed their first level education.
And now I’m embarrassed to realise I have run out of a couple of overused words, ’In’ or ’Out’, for example. Oh dear! Where’s my EU polling card?

Good morning all from a very wet Berkshire, I hope it stops before I go and vote, we had a thunder storm in the very early hours and then very heavy rain.
Ann I hope your tests at the hospital give you the OK to drive again, the optician can tell a lot with an eye test so it does sound like a migraine.
Mandy those hospital car park charges are so expensive these days, your OH is going to be pleased when its all over, a 4 hour operation, no wonder he is in pain. I expect Max was wondering where you both were.
Thomas is certainly a good patient Jane, poor boy will miss most of the summer on his hunting trips but at least you know were he is at the moment.
You are still keeping busy Gill, I have been watching the Instant Gardener in the afternoons this week, it's amazing what they can do in a day. I bought a few more plants yesterday when my friend and I went to the garden centre, we also had something to eat there. Wednesdays they have a discount card for the over sixties and you get 10% off bedding plants, every little helps. I bought a few more large begonias because the slugs and snails don't seem to eat them, they have completely eaten all the petunias and pansy plants . I also bought some other plants and a few birthday cards as they have such a good selection there, with so many relations on Peter's side and friends too of course there are cards needed every month
Frank, I hope you and Ros get some satisfaction with your visit to the doctors. how fortunate to get both your appointments so close to each over.
I am expecting Sainsburys to arrive with the weeks shopping soon, the time slot is between 8 & 9 and then the putting away of everything before I can take Amy out but at least it seems to have stopped raining now.
No Liz yesterday I hope she is alright..

Oh has gone off to see our friend and vote too.
I am about to go in the shower and then go up and vote too. Must put some washing in first as it looks to be a drying day.
Jane it just seems funny to me that the muscles will hold the bone in place. I hope he mends soon and makes a full recovery back to his old self. This little episode may stop him asking to go out at all hours in the morning and perhaps he will use his litter tray instead now.

Morning All,
No rain here yet Anne, but it will be soon I think as it's so gloomy!
Dermot, a report in our local paper recently said that 26 languages are spoken in our city schools. Even though it is said children pick up a new language quickly, I would think it is bound to have some impact on their learning ability to start with.
Ideas about teaching children and what is important to learn at school have changed so much since I was at school which is all well and good, but employers still require good knowledge of the basics when children leave school. I remember towards the end of my own working life, that despite the '0'level in English language that was a requirement, letters to the public written by new recruits were often not fit to be sent out!
Well, the gas boiler is serviced now by our cheerful local boiler man and we've been to vote too. I was surprised no one else was there, but many may turn out after work. I noticed the ladies dealing with things were well stocked up with biscuits and crisps! lol I always have a mild panic when voting for anything............do I put a 'cross' or a 'tick' and have I put it in the right box!! LOL. Next we will be hearing the fallout whichever way things go. I must admit that, despite listening to the arguments, I haven't been swayed from my initial feelings about it.
Still no phone call from the Hospital yet. When OH had double vision a few years ago (turned out to be migraine!) we went straight to A&E and they did all the tests for a TIA there and then. I can understand why people go straight to A&E instead of the doctors when you have this wait and can't drive anywhere or plan anything. At least the precautionary aspirin and statin I need to take haven't caused me any problems. :-)
I did this interesting little personality test earlier and came out as an 'advocate'. It made interesting reading and both I and OH could recognise the traits I have. It helps you to understand yourself and why you behave a particular way. Have a go if you fancy or want to while a few minutes away! :-)

Morning my little flowers, Evening Kim,
Who's been a busy boy then ??? Me, I have made 5lbs of Raspberry jam this morning. Ros found some punnets on the reduced stand yesterday, so bought 4 and the Jam sugar and pectin. As she had to take Carolyn to hospital, I thought I would give her a surprise. Hope it turns out allright.
Mandy you are cheering me up no end :-( :-( I have to go for my pre op examination a week before my operation, I hope I am not kept waiting that long. lol lol
Ann it's a fair bet that it wasn't a TIA (which is great) but please take care of the warning signs. I am sure Gordon will ferry you around as long as he needs to. It's marvelous how the OHs step up at times like this. I would be completly lost withour Ros bless her <3 <3 <3
Rain is in the air here. I went to feed the birds and could feel it on my bare shoulders. AIN'T IT MUGGY ???
We will go and VOTE this evening when I hope it will be quieter in the Village Hall. Where do you go JANE. It's been so long since I was there I have forgotton. Or is it OLD AGE ???
Glad young Thomas was a good boy yesterday. Give him a little treat from me. :-D :-D :-D
I still haven't had any breakfast, so will get something now with a coffee.
See you later, and enjoy your day. xx

Afternoon all,
Really muggy here ,we have had rain this morning but now the suns out so i have hung some washing out ,must keep an eye on it as there are a few very black looking clouds looming .
Sorry Frank , lets hope you get seen to quicker , it did say to allow up to three hours on the papers that hubby had sent , the young chap the nurse practioner was a leaner so i think he was a bit on the slow side but then everyone has to learn and it has to be right , our hospital is a teaching hospital too so most of the people we saw had leaners with them .
We will go and vote later ,it seems so silly that we have a polling station in the church house right close by but we have to go down to the library to vote .
Hope your shopping arrived and you got it all put away Anne , thats the bit i hate putting shopping away and if i let hubby do it i carn't find half the things . What a shame the slugs have got a lot of your plants ,all the hard work of putting them in and you end up with no pretty flowers , lets hope the keep away from these new ones .
Ann it must feel so strange for you to not be able to just hop in the car and go off to where ever , i hope you hear some thing soon.
