Afternoon All

Frank, what have you done?I wonder if you might have chipped a bone or something .You must be a bit frustrated with not being able to do anything at the moment.

Mel it is the same Dental practise you have appointments with or a new one? Lets hope this time they can get your teeth right for you.

Mandy ,I think that Park and Ride sounds a much better idea for you when you visit OH in the hospital.Easier and cheaper too :-D

Ann what a performance you have had with this appointment. That has been really bad service and it seems they either haven't a clue ewhat they are doing or someone has been telling you porkies :-S..Fingers crossed that nothing changes between now and Wednesday .I sometimes wonder if these referal letters end up in the wrong tray.Whatever..it is not good enough is it. :-S

Mandy, Thomas has been driving me potty. He is just not using up enough energy and is a bit stir crazy.I found a cardboard box in the garage and have put it in the lounge on its side with a couple of his toys in it.He played a bit and sat on the top of the box but now is ignoring it all :-S.Everytime he sees me go to the kitchen he is right behind me(hoping for treats).I have spent quite a time in the garden with him today. He really isn't interested in walking much and just likes to flop down and lie in the sun sniffing the air :-D..I wonder if his leg might be a bit sore still. It feels a bit warm to me but all the wounds have healed nicely and aren't red or inflamed. He doesn't like the leg being touched much.It is possible he might have pulled it a bit when he ran after that mouse.
He is funny though ,because when he hears me empty the litter tray and put clean litter in ,he gets straight in it to use it.That is one thing I won't be sorry to see go .The litter gets everywhere.I even find bits on the carpet in the lounge.I suppose bits get stuck in his paws and fur. He is fast asleep at the moment :-D

We have some lovely New Salad type Potatoes.Chris dug up some more for me .I am going to Saute them for a change. They are very versatile and are good just to have boiled, roasted or Sautéed .

WELL I MANAGED TO GET DINNER TONIGHT. I DID BEEF ONION AND POTATO IN THE OVEN FOR ROS. AND DID MYSELF COLD BEEF CHIPS AND BRANSTON PICKLE, BEAUTIFUL !!!

ROS HAS BEEN IN THE GARDEN ALL DAY, SHE HAS SHAPED ALL THE SMALL CONIFERS AND TRIMMED THE MAIN HEDGE. SHE MANAGED TO CUT THROUGH THE CABLE TO THE HEDGE TRIMMER, BUT ONLY WHEN SHE HAD FINISHED WITH IT. WHEN MY HAND ALLOWS I WILL REWIRE IT.

YOU HAVE HAD A RIGHT OLD TIME THEN ANN. LETS HOPE WEDNESDAY GET YOU SORTED !!!

POOR LITTLE THOMAS <3 <3 <3 IT MUST BE DIFFICULT FOR HIM AT THE MOMENT AFTER ALL HIS FREEDOM.

I WILL BE STAYING IN TONIGHT TO WATCH ENGLAND. IF I GO INTO THE PUB WITH MY ARM IN A SLING I AM BOUND TO GET SOME RUDE COMMENTS ;-) ;-) ;-)

ROS HAS GOT HER APPOINTMENT FOR HER MRI 0N THE 4TH AUGUST, JUST WHEN I WILL BE IN HOSPITAL WITH MY KNEE. :-( :-( :-(

JUST WATCHING THE ITALY V SPAIN MATCH WITH A NICE COLD BEER.

SEE YOU LATER.

How can there be an appointment one minute and then not ,surely the appointments are all done on the computer lets hope the appointment is there when you go on wednesday Ann.

Well lets hope this dentist will make your new teeth fit better than they last lot of teeth you had done Mel , i hope they are not charging you for this set .

Oh poor Thomas , you said you weren't going to use the crate again Jane but if you put him in it out side it might settle him for a while just being out in the air and getting the sun .

We used the park and ride for hubby's appointment this afternoon ,it was so easy ,dropped off right at the door ,we were a little early so stopped and had a coffee before hubby went in , the lady we saw was very nice ,told hubby all about the op, he will be put right out to sleep which is what he wanted he said he didn't want to hear them sawing his bones :-0
We were just in time to catch the ten past four bus back, hubby's appointment was for half past four !! so in and out before his time , got home about five ,lots of traffic today as its the Royal Norfolk show this week and the park and ride is right near the show ground .

Annx Report 27 Jun 2016 19:21

The park and ride sounds ideal for visiting Mandy and the buses they use usually run frequently as well. The situation at our city hospital has eased thank goodness now they have built a multi storey carpark for it. No I don't think I'd want to hear bones being sawn either! :-S I asked why there now wasn't an appointment after just a few minutes and was told 'I don't know!' I reckon if I hadn't been around to answer the phone they might have had to cancel someone else's appointment instead.

Mel, I should think you are used to dentists now with all these appointments. I hope the new ones they make are ok this time, otherwise you will end up with a set for each day of the week! :-D

Jane, if you have an ipad you could download one of those cat games, like they have on google play.com. I'm sure Thomas would enjoy batting his paws at those 'screen mice'. lol. Does he fret to go out at night?

You did well to manage to get the dinner Frank with your sling on. I bet Ros was ready for hers with all the work she's been doing today. OH is watching the footie, but no cool beer! lol.

Morning All

Love your pic Ann :-D

Frank how is your wrist this morning?,Any easier?

Mandy the crate outside is a good idea but it is so big and heavy it would be a pain having to keep moving it and bringing it in and out,If it was a bit lighter I would do that.So we will have to stick with the harness and me with my kindle lol
I think he has just used the litter tray...getting a whiff of something :-S..I better deal with that quickly.

Morning all,

Not too bad a morning here but I must confess to having just got up after a lovely sleep. I did get up at about 7.30am and went back to bed.

Mandy the park and ride sounds a really good idea for hospital visits.

Could'nt Chris move the crate for you Jane in the morning and back in in the afternoon.

Shopping day even though I did a bit in Lidl yesterday they don't sell a lot of the things I use so its two trips this week.

Frank

Frank Report 28 Jun 2016 11:27

Morning all, Evening Kim.
rang toI am trying to use my index finger on my right hand this morning, for the Shift Key.

The thumb and back of my hand are still sore to move, Ros want's to take me to hospital, but I said NO We will do it tomorrow if it;s no better.

Had some bad news last night. My nephew John rang to tell my my brother Ted has passed away. Not only was he suffering with CANCER he had a STROKE at the end. This information came to me via FOUR family members. Why his family couldn't have phoned, I just don't know. That now leaves his twin sister and yours truly. The remains of TEN CHILDREN.

Not a bad day here as yet. Ros has just changed the bed, so whites on the lane later, followed by coloureds. Where does all the washing come from eith only the two of us.

What a disaster the football was last night. The Manager will surely loose his job, and as for the Captain. He should loose that as well. He gave the ball away more than he passed it to his own players.

I am going to try to shower myself this morning, Ros is around if I need help. !!!!

Gillx Report 28 Jun 2016 11:35

Morning all

A bit dull here today but dry......so far

It sounds like you're having fun with your teeth again Mel, hope they manage to sort it properly this time around.

Sorry to hear you've hurt your wrist Frank, it's no joke is it? When I hurt mine a few weeks ago it was at the base of the thumb so I couldn't grip anything. You've done well to cook. Hope it's better soon <3 What a disappointment the England match was last night. OH was not impressed.

The park and ride sounds like a good idea Mandy, I think those services are great and it will save you so much money on the parking.

Well, OH isn't very happy at the moment, apparently he's going to get a warning at work for not turning up the other week. The handyman is off sick at the moment and has been for quite some time, so OH, when asked, said he would do some of the handyman duties as a favour for his boss. All was going well until the boss wanted him to go in one day but didn't tell him, as far as OH was concerned it was his day off as that is what was put down on his time sheet (Carers) but apparently there is another timesheet (Handyman) that said he was supposed to be in work. OH didn't even know about this other timesheet, so didn't know he was suppose to be in work. Well, one of the staff turned up at ours on the day in question wanting to know where he was. I answered the door and explained that it was his day off and he had plans for the day so couldn't come in. Bear in mind that the Handyman job isn't OH's job, he is contracted to work as a carer. Anyway he thought nothing of it, but was then told by Sandra last night, who is friendly with the staff member who came round, that OH was going to get a warning in the next couple of days because he didn't turn up for work. OH knew nothing about this, so has now decided that if that's how he's going to be treated then he no longer want to help them with the Handyman work. He's going to tell them today. He is so angry and thinks they are very cheeky, he doesn't agree with the warning as the Handyman job isn't his job, he doesn't even know if he was insured to do Handyman work. So it'll be interesting to hear how he got on at work today when he tells them he no longer wants to do the Handyman work. His contract is for a carer only, so he doesn't have to do Handyman work unless he wants to. I'm a bit worried he might lose his carers job as they obviously think of OH has the Handyman now, which of course he isn't, he's just helping out as the real Handyman is off sick with an injury and can't go back to work until the doctor gives him the go ahead. I guess I'll find out what's going on later when OH gets in from work.

Well, I'm off out in the garden again today before it starts raining, it's forecast for rain this afternoon and I still have lots to do.

See you all later <3

Gillx

Gillx Report 28 Jun 2016 11:46

It's gone very dark and cloudy so I've decided not to go out in the garden, it looks like it's going to pour down with rain and I don't fancy getting soaked. I only needed to cut back some of the dead hedge that is poking through the framework we put up yesterday, so that can wait for another day.

Sandra has just asked if we can watch the sewing bee I recorded, so we're going to watch that instead.

Afternoon all,

So sorry to read about your brother passing away Frank , will you be able to go to the funeral ?

Hospital just rang hubby's op has been cancelled !! The surgeon has three urgent ops to do in the next three weeks before he goes away on holiday so hubby's op will now be the 16th August.
Poor hubby was a bit done he was all geared up ready for it and what a waste of an appointment yesterday if they had only rung yesterday it would have saved a trip .

Well i don't see why hubby should get a warning Gill if his is not contracted for that job , he was only helping out after all , your sure it's not some one just trying to stir things up at work for your OH ?

Just took Max for a walk and we met a chocolate Lab ,boy was he a lovely boy and lively too !!

Love the new photo Ann :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Jun 2016 12:20

O Mandy thats not on is it? What with Ann having an appointment cancelled and now Colin with his I wonder who will be the third?

Gill do they pay Glyn the handyman wage when he does jobs for them? If he is not contracted to do handyman work and was only helping whilst the other man was off sick I don't see how they can give him a warning. They need to take a look at his contract before doing anything drastic. From what I have heard from you before he has'nt had that many days off work sick all the time he has been there.

Hope the wrist improves and it dos'nt mean a trip top the hospital Frank. Take care.... Sorry to hear about your brother may he rest in peace now with no pain.

Must get out or I shall never get back.

Oh keeps telling me he has brought me a present?????????? I wonder what it is????? Bet its nothing for me and its something for him....................

Gillx

Gillx Report 28 Jun 2016 13:04

Sorry to hear about your brother Frank. Will you be going to his funeral? Was he local to you?

Your poor hubby Mandy, how annoying that they didn't tell you before you went to the appointment yesterday. Let's hope the op isn't cancelled again.

I don't think anyone's got it in for him Mandy, but then you never know do you? They seem to think that the Handyman job is his contracted job. He's now thinking of changing jobs. He has been talking about down south again so we may end up putting the bungalow on the market again and seeing if there's anything nice to buy further down the country.

Mum's just turned up so I'd better go and let her in, it's pouring with rain here now and she's getting wet.

Gillx Report 28 Jun 2016 14:14

I've just tried to answer your question Mel and the site said it couldn't be displayed. The post I written didn't go through.

In answer to your question, OH works a set amount of hours each week so gets paid the same regardless of what he does. He only does the Handyman job if and when needed then goes back to his carers job for the rest of the day. You're right he doesn't have much time off work, in fact you could count the amount of times he's been off sick on one hand and still have fingers left over. He doesn't like to let people down and has even gone in to work when he really wasn't well enough to do so. I think it's going to be a shock to his boss when he tell them he's not willing to do the Handyman job anymore. I don't blame him, he shouldn't be getting into trouble for just trying to help them out of a sticky situation.

He's not contracted as a Handyman only a carer. Can he get a warning for a job that isn't his and if he does can he put in a complaint. Does anyone know???

So your OH has got you a present? Hope it is for you Mel and not for him LOL. When is he giving it to you? Hope it's a nice surprise <3 <3

Frank,I am very sorry to hear about your Brother Ted. :-(.. Where did he live? I have a feeling it is a long way from you.
Don't try and use your hand too much today.Rest is still probably the best thing at the moment.Don't put off getting it checked out.

Mandy ,what bad news that is for OH having the Op cancelled .You hear this so often.
Hopefully the next date will be fine .He shouldn't have to go for another pre op assessment Bet he feels down in the dumps now after gearing himself up for it.

Gill ,I think that is disgraceful of the home .OH's contract as you say is as a Carer and not a Handyman.Fancy someone actually coming to your door !!.I hope everything is ok and that his job is safe.I'm sure he would have good grounds to appeal should he lose his job .But that shouldn't happen.Maybe he needs not to offer to do any other work for the home other than his normal duties as Carer.I think they are taking advantage of him

:-S

Well Mandy ,we took your advice and put the cage outside today. We put Thomas in it while Fitz was here for lunch .He wasn't a happy cat at first and tried climbing the bars .But I put some food in and we sat just a few feet from him on the patio to eat and he settled down. There was a lot of miaowing going on for a while lol.
Now it looks like the heavens are about to open so Cat is in and Fitz has gone.We will leave the cage outside for now(I don't think it will go rusty just yet.(I can't give it back to the owner in a rusty state).
It is getting quite dark here now :-S

Frank wasn't the footie RUBBISH.I gave up watching in the end . Watching Murray now in the tennis.

Frank

Frank Report 28 Jun 2016 15:29

Thanks for your condolences. I haven't spoken to him since his remark about my stroke "YOU HAVE ONLY HAD A STROKE GET OVER IT" It seems he didn't :-( :-(
He lived in Ware, Herts, about an hour from us. As none of his family could be bothered to let me know, (a) I don't think I will be made welcome and (b) As nobody has informed me of any arrangements they can't be that bothered if I am there or not. His son did promise that he would let me know if the was any change in him before Christmas. Shows how some people keep promises. :-| :-| :-|

I have let my Daughter know, also my niece in Scotland. So I have done my bit.

Gill I would get your OH to go to the CAB to get advise on the way he is being treated my the Nursing Home. Or if he is in a UNION. Contact his local representative, for advise.
Ros has got all the washing dried outside and is ironing it as we speak.

Get the crate in Jane It's pouring of rain here.

I hope I won't be NUMBER THREE with the operation cancellation. !!!!

I see the England Manager resigned 20 minutes after the game finished. Looking at his proposed successor I don't hold much for English FOOTBALL. ;-) ;-) ;-

BBQd pork ribs with new pots a various veg. Ros is doing that, so I will sit back and watch.

Jane

Jane Report 28 Jun 2016 16:16

I wonder what your present is Mel.You will have to let us know as soon as you get it.
Chris often comes home with something 'for me' usually something to do with the kitchen :-S.I keep saying the thought is nice but here is NO MORE ROOM for anything .Now if he fancied buying me some perfume or nice bath stuff that would be very welcome lol

Gill ,I honestly can't see OH has anything to worry about. He is not paid to be a handyman and that won't be in his contract. Hope Mum didn't get too wet waiting to be let in LOL.

Hi Fiona :-D :-D..Good to see you again.I hope you don't have another bad flair up again. This one has lasted a long time.

Frank,as you say you have done your bit by letting your daughter and Niece know about your Brother.I know you fell out with Ted but I am sure you will still be feeling sad about his death. You must have had good times with him when you were young boys.

Mandy ,did Max enjoy meeting the Choc Lab? Some dogs get so excited when they meet another dog. Then the leads get all tangled when they jump and play with each other !!.

It is raining here too now Frank. The Crate is left outside for now.It weighs a blooming ton to keep shifting around.
Fitz was saying that he doesn't think Podge is doing well at all.Even though he is managing to do his Insulin injections. He feels there must be something going on which is causing the insulin to maybe not being absorbed.I have suggested he doesn't wait another whole week before his appointment with the Vet and get Podge seen a bit earlier.I have a feeling that dear Podge isn't going to be around for much longer :-(

I hav had to put a light on as it is so dark now !!

Anne

Anne Report 28 Jun 2016 16:17

Condolences regarding your brother Frank, I hope you are still resting your wrist like a good boy.

Gill your OH's employers certainly don't appreciate him enough, if his contract only state his carer's roll then they have no valid reason for terminating his contract but hopefully they haven't written in "and Ad Hoc duties} anyway I'm sure they realise good workers are hard to come by.

Ann, good luck with your hospital appointment tomorrow and they have got it right this time.

Mandy how disappointing that your husband's op has been cancelled and put back until August when it should have been over and done with by then

Mel good luck regarding your teeth lets hope they can fit them properly this time and you can eat with comfort again.

Jane you asked about Amy's little wee problem, she has medicine drops 3 times a day on food which helps but she still has the odd accident. These drops cost £61.03 a bottle and that lasts about 5 weeks, so thank goodness for pet plan. How is that beautiful Thomas to day ?

Good to see you popping in Fiona and I hope you continue to feel stronger.

Still no Liz, is she away or have I missed her post?

It's raining hard here at the moment although it has been sunny and I managed to do some gardening after taking Amy out for her usual walk.

The football result for England was so disappointing and I expect the Icelandic team aren't paid anywhere near as much as ours, I feel sorry for all the England fans that have paid their hard earned money to go to France to support them,

Jane

Jane Report 28 Jun 2016 17:58

I have missed Liz too Anne.I don't recall her saying they were going away again.Maybe she is having problems with the internet.
Sent you an email Anne :-D That is good that the drops on Amy's food is helping her 'problem' even if not completely .

Ann you asked me if Thomas was fretting to get out at night..........I have no idea LOL
as he is shut in in the lounge.I don't think he is, as there are no pulled up carpets by the doors or scraped walls..I think he must have a wander in the night though as the tray has always been used.He is always fast asleep in the morning.I will carry on shutting him in downstairs as I am getting really good nights sleeps these days :-D :-D
