Morning here I am Jane.
Don't you just find yourself thinking "I shall pop some washing in" I shall just rinse these mugs, or cook something for dinner later..... Its the same here when oh is in the shower. I will sometimes forget and turn the tap on and the water in the shower comes out cold. Mum was always doing it to me.
Its the same with the leccy if yiou hav'nt got it you don't realize just how much we depend on it.
Anyway safe journey to Ann and Gordon and I hope they really enjoy their break and Ann has a lovely birthday tomorrow.
Could I Sleep last night???????????????????? Never. I got up at 4.15 for a visit to the bathroom then back to bed where I was really getting cross with myself. Oh spoke to me when he woke up and then snuggled in behind me and eventually I fell asleep but it must have been an hour later. Got up at 8am for another visit and went back to bed. Woke up at 11.20am. and here I am.

Oh dear Jane, no water lets hope they manage to fix it soon as promised. At least you will be able to have a C.O.T. do you have a water butt in the garden you could use to flush the loo if needed?
Windy but sunny here this morning, Amy has had her walk and is now fast asleep. I'm a little concerned about Shadow, she slept indoors all day yesterday and didn't want to eat anything. She did eat a small amount this morning and is now asleep in the conservatory, I don't want to take her to the vets unless I have to because it would traumatise her going by past experience. I will see how she is today before I decide.
I hope Ann & Gordon enjoy their break and the weather is kind to them.

Afternoon all,
Bright and very breezy here today a nice start to Ann and Gordons holiday .
Hope they soon get the water sorted for you Jane it's surprising how many times you use the tap in a day .
Well yesterday i took the young chap in the churchyard a meal , he was so polite and very well spoken and grateful for a hot meal , he was camped out again last night ,i didn't like to ask how he had come to be homeless.
Off in the garden now to do a few jobs .

Mandy, that was so kind of you to give that young man a hot meal, I think it's so sad to see someone in that position in this day and age. Hopefully not for long.
We have had a lot of heavy rain here this afternoon with lightning and thunder '
Chicken Kievs for us tonight , new potatoes and vegetables, plus trifle for pudding,

That was good of you Mandy to give the young fellow a meal. Will you do it again? Think I would be tempted to feed him if he was so polite and well spoken and you have seen him each time you walk Max for a while now.
We've been to Holsworthy this afternoon as I needed chicken food and wild bird food and oh wanted some pipe fitting I would'nt have understood and washers and bits so he took me in his bumpy old car.

Water all back to normal now :-D.I have signed up with Anglian Water to be emailed in future if there any problems in my area.As soon as I realised the water was coming through a bit stronger I quickly washed my hair.It was so needing a wash that I wouldn't go out lol
Mandy ,I bet your hot meal went down a treat :-D.That was a really kind gesture. Maybe you might find out a bit more about this young man and learn how he has come to be in these circumstances.I think homeless people must be incredibly lonely sometimes.I love having a chat with the man who sits out the back of M&S.He is a lovely chap .He was explaining once how he became homeless and how difficult it is once that happens to get accomodation again. No address,no benefits . Is there a Soup Kitchen or any drop in centre in your town?
Anne ,Thomas has been a bit like Shadow the last couple of days. Not intersted in food or doing anything.I wondered if it was because it was so humid. He has picked up a bit today but has only had a mouthful of food but he is mithering me the whole time :-S I have the Vets in the morning for his next post op check . I hope Shadow is ok and soon perks up? How old is she?
Mel you haven't had a bad night like that in a while have you.Lets hope tonight is a better one. The wind here today has been so strong !!Lots of big dark clouds but also a fair bit of sun.Several times I thought the heavens were going to open but so far nothing.
Chris is carrying Thomas down the garden to the long grass he likes to lay in(Thomas not Chris lol ).I needed to get the cat from out under my feet while I am in the kitchen. Each time I turned around he was right behind me.
I would think Ann and Gordon will be settled into the log cabin by now.I quite fancy a holiday in one of those. They look so nice.
So we are going to have a lady Prime Minister again and it seems it could happen in the next few days!! I wonder what T May will be like. There was a time I wasn't keen on her but the more I hear about her I think she actually could be a good PM (if there is such a thing :-) ) Time will tell I suppose.

Well i just felt so sorry for the young chap ,he sat out there for ages with his head in his hand he looked so fed up in the wet the other day but i did notice he has some waterproof trousers and a good waterproof coat . I don't think i will make a meal every day ,i did think perhaps an odd packet of biscuits or some fruit might be ok .
Jane i don't think we have a soup kitchen in town ,there is the Salvation Army and they always do a christmas lunch for any people on their own but i don't think they do meals in the week . The nearest hostel and soup kitchen would be in Norwich . There is the Food Bank in town but you have to be on benifits to get any food from them.
Anne i hope Shadow is better tomorrow maybe as Jane said it could be the muggy weather that has put her off her food , i would just keep an eye on her there's no point getting her stressed out going to the vets if you don't need too .
Mel you'll have to try a cushion on the seat in OH's car it might help the bumpy ride .
We've had a few heavy showers this afternoon ,its tipping it down as i type !!

Evening all,
I didn't want you all worrying where I was <3 <3 <3 She always said it was better than tap water.
Jane, When I was young (yes I remember) Mum used to wash my sister's hair in rain water.
Mel, don't you start getting my habit. !! I was in bed and asleep before midnight last night, but woke 4.45 and had one hell of a job to get back to sleep.
Where is Ann and Gordon Staying.Would it be Thetford Forest. I can imagine that's the sort of place they would have LOG CABINS. It's between New market and Norwich. Lets hope the weather improves where ever they are.
Anne I hope your Shadow shows signs of improvement. I think the weather has a lot to do with it. It is so humid. I am in shorts with the fan on, and still too hot.
Couldn't be bothered with a lot of cooking tonight, so I did BBQ pork ribs, chips and baked beans. What a nice change from Roast and Veg.
I love hard boiled eggs with smashed up tomato's. I put the toms in the hot boiling water with the eggs to get the skins off, then all in a dish with a knob of butter and salad cream. A bit of cress goes nicely with it, if we have any in the fridge.
Oh dear, no more football or tennis for a few weeks. The Premiership starts again in August.
Today they buried my brother, where or when I have no idea. I doubt anyone will tell me either.
Where do you think Ros has been again today.?? Yes, after a basket of ironing to do. she went in the garden.
Have not seen Tony or Val next door, so have no idea how she is. I expect he will be out this evening as usual.
Have a nice evening folks. xx

Pleased to say Shadow is back to her usual self, so it probably was the weather. She and Toby are 7 years old so still quite young for a cat.
Jane I hope Thomas gets on ok at the vets, is it likely he can be let out on his own again ?
I am finding it difficult getting off to sleep at the moment because of the weather, I would like to lie in but Amy has other ideas, so 7o/c is the latest she starts to get me up.
Frank, How unkind of your brother's family not letting you know any details about his funeral, they certainly aren't worth you bothering yourself about

I am pleased Shadow is now back to normal now Anne. They must feel the heat as they can't take their fur off when its hot can they?
Goodo luck at the vets tomorrow Thomas. I hope everything is all ok now and he can be let out. It will be easier on you Jane.
Mandy I bet a bacon sandwich would go down well wth the young chap! Not sure about giving him fruit but a packet of biscuits is a good idea and a cuppa.
Off for a shower now and go to bed earlier tonight so see you all in the morning.
Night night.

Feeling better today. OH's PSA test came back having dropped a point which is good news. The Consultant was pleased although he warned us that there was still some cancer activity as the reading should be zero. We have another test followed by another hospital appointment in November to see if the count has stabilised or gone up. Horrid cold day, but at least we'll have a PM who seems reasonably sane!! Taking Cas for a run in a minute,, and son is coming to supper, :-D so life looks up!!

Pleased to hear your OH's test came back good Liz, it's good you are finally having some good luck <3 How nice to see your son too.
Glad Shadow is okay now Anne, it must of been a worry there for a moment? At least you don't have to go to the vets now.
Hope all goes well with Thomas's visit to the vets today Jane. Give him a hug from Sandra and I <3
So we're going to get six weeks of sunshine Frank? Hope it's not to hot so I can get out and finish my garden. With not feeling very well, I've rang someone to do the patio, it's needs taking up and re-laying as it's collecting a lot of rain water, it's a big job and probably to much for me to do as the flag stones are 3ft by 2ft so quite heavy. We do have another patio that needs doing but the flag stone are only 2ft by 2ft, which I'll probably be able to do once I feel better.
Hope you had a better nights sleep last night Mel, there's nothing worse that having a run of bad nights, you feel so drained when that happens, don't you?
I've decided to colour my hair today, it's grown quite quickly lately and needs doing again. Sandra said she'd help so hopefully it won't take the 5 hours it's normally takes. At least I don't have a headache today, so that will help. See you all later

Afternoon all, TWENTY ONE AGAIN TODAY "HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANN" enjoy the rest of the day.
Glad to see the "Pets" are all well. This weather wouldn't have helped. It hasn't helped me either. Ros had to wake me from the armchair at 4.00 am this morning. I did manage to sleep until 8.00 am. But with all that's on my mind at the moment, I suppose I shouldn't complain.
Glad Ian had a better result this time round Liz, ONWARD AND UPWARDS as they say. Lets hope November is even better result <3 <3 <3
Typical "JULY" day here. CLOUD EVERYWHERE. Now it is tipping it down. Poor Val next door, struggled like mad this morning to put out some washing, Now it's getting soaked.Neither of them have bothered to get it in.
Ros and Carolyn are walled robe shopping today. Carolyn won't go for built in type, as the old stone walls are a bit damp.So they need to be free standing.
I have had a King Prawn sandwich with smoked salmon with seafood sauce and a large coffee.
Tonight is Lamb Steaks (MINTED) new potato's runners, broad beans, peas and carrots and sweetheart cabbage. I will also do a nice minted gravy to go with it. Lemon meringue pie and cream to finish off. No it's not her birthday, and No I am not after Brownie points ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
News has just started, so will see you later.

Ah talking to myself am I ????
It's been downpour after downpour here most of the day. I got fed up with reading so am watching The nature programmes.
There is a guy working on someones garden (taking up the drive and front garden) and putting paving bricks down. Poor chap is working away under a BIG FISHING UMBRELLA. I suppose that's one way of getting the job done :-D :-D :-D :-D
How did you get on with the vets Jane. Is the little terror allowed out on his own now. ?? Watch out Wildlife on Cranford Road ;-) ;-) ;-) I hope he got a clean bill of health.
I hope A & G are able to get out and about in this terrible weather. Nothing worse than having to stay undercover, when you are on holiday.
Gill,Won't it be expensive getting someone in to do your patio. Or are you lucky enough to know someone who will do it on the side ???
It's getting to the stage where we are the key holders of half the Close. Next door Pam and Dennis have asked us to have theirs, in case Tracy ( who is 51 but special needs) goes out with the dog and forgets to take her key. That will be FOUR KEYS WE HOLD. (Could be worth a few bob to the right sort of person ) LOL
;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) How much do you think I should charge per key ??? I will now be hoping they don't get burgled !!!!
No sign of the girls, Gawd only knows where they have been today. Could be when they exhausted Northampton (NOT DIFFICULT) they went further afield. May by Milton Keynes or Peterborough. They will turn up when they are hungry. (mums old saying) !!!
COT time, What's the weather like around the Country ??? So much for SIX WEEKS of Spanish weather :-P :-P :-P

Liz, Pleased to hear your OH's PSA test came through with a good result, you both needed some good news after the last few weeks you have had. Enjoy your son's visit his evening.
It's been raining hard on and off today more like April than July.
How did Thomas get on at the vets Jane?
Your dinner sounds very tasty Frank, We are having a Greek pasta bake recipe, it was in the Woman's Weekly a couple of weeks ago. It consists of mince lamb, tomatoes ,onions and garlic plus herbs Penne pasta stirred in and topped with yogurt and beaten egg and crumbled Mozzarella cheese on top of that. I will do some runner beans and broccoli to go with it

Here I am after shopping and putting it all away and had a COT and doughnut with oh.
I am going to pick more strawberries in a min after this post.
Sounds like you have all had a rotton day around the country but today started grey here and then it brightened up and we had sunshine which is still shining at the moment. Tomorrow when I am home it will probably rain. :-(
On the way to Bideford we had some traffic lights and I thought what are they doing to the road now. When I got there something had caught fire on the road and burnt all the road surface off and all the verge anda farm gateway and gate. Must have been a nasty fire. I wonder what it was?

Our supper is, apart from the lamb steaks completely home grown! dwarf runner beans and new potatoes with strawberries and home made merangues! Son has a big appetite so I have to do enough veg, as we don't eat anything like as much as we used to and I've got into the habbit of not cooking that much! My poor SIL is so upset about her dog dying, I do feel sorry for her, not only that but her OH has been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, so they have decided to put their French home up for sale, and move back to England permanently. They've been so happy there and it is a real pity - also the end of our visits :-(
