Yes Mel, I've been for an eye test and it was okay, I thought the same thing and maybe my glasses needed changing but it wasn't the case. I'm a bit stressed at the moment and I suffer from Hayfever so it could be those that are giving me headaches as well as having a bug with a high temperature. I didn't sleep very well last night so that won't help either. I'm sure with a bit more rest I'll be okay soon.

I have also done some washing today but just OH's uniform so only one small load. That is dry now and ready for him to go back to work in tomorrow. He's been at his mates all day and is off out again in a mo. Sandra is going out with him as she want to go to the shops, she buying a birthday cake for her dad, with my money, just incase I don't feel up to making one, but is also buying the ingredients I need to make one as he prefers my cakes to shop bought ones, I'm hoping to make one tomorrow or Saturday if I feel up to it, if not then at least he'll have the shop bought one, so won't go without.

What is the sprayer for Liz? I'm the same I wash on a 40, it's very rare I wash on a boil wash. I do run the washing machine on a boil wash, empty, every now and then to give it a good clean through, otherwise it starts to smell. It cleans out all the pipes as the washing power clogs and like I said, makes it smell better.

It's very quiet on here today, where is everyone? Does anyone know when Ann is back off her holiday? Hope the weather is nice for her and she had a good birthday. It's sunny here but with the breeze it's quite chilly. A nice day for drying washing though ;-)

Afternoon Everyone
Today seems to have gone in a flash. It has been such a lovely day and the sun really quite hot. Fitz came for lunch and then took me to the hairdressers as he had some things to do in town .He then picked me up again 45 mins later and brought me home.So that was really nice of him. Chris is back from the Art Fair and I have just handed him Thomas on the lead :-D.It is his turn to take Thomas walkabouts .

I want to know if Franks' Physio was a Male or Female :-D :-D.Hope the pre op assessment went fine Frank .

Gill ,I wonder whether your headaches are as you say all stress and hay fever related.
People sometimes don't realise how bad Hayfever can make people feel.It can be really quite debilitating .I am sure OH won't mind a shop bought cake Gill for his Birthday if you are not feeling up to making one .A cake is a cake after all.Although ~I am sure your cakes are much tastier than the shop bought.

Yes Liz ,what is the sprayer for? I am curious. Are we talking water?

I have the dreaded Dentist in the morning.Just for a check up .But I have a bit of bleeding gum thing going on when I brush at the moment so will no doubt get a lecture on flossing, brushing and how to brush :-S..I always feel like a child when I get this 'talk' .He gives the same talk every time :-S :-S :-D

The sprayer is for weedkilling! Our paddock needs doing every so often, and doing it with a backpack is very time consuming and very tiring as Mel will confirm!! We do the garden with the backpack, but that is only a small job by comparison!
Gill, I clean the inside of my washing machine every so often with white vinegar. You can find out on line the quantities and method. I use white vinegar quite a lot in household cleaning.

Gillx Report 14 Jul 2016 19:25

Well, Sandra's back with her dad's birthday cake and yes, you've guessed it, it's a chocolate flake one......me thinks it was more for her than her dad LOL. Luckily OH likes chocolate and flakes so he's happy and doesn't mind if I don't feel up to baking his cake this year. We did have a laugh saying that we'll need the fire brigade on standby if we were to put 50 candles on his cake, so I think it will be just a few so he can blow them out, Sandra likes that part and of course eating the cake ;-)

Yes, I thought the sprayer was for water, at least we both know now Jane :-D
I should imagine using the sprayer would be a lot quicker than the backpack Liz, so your OH chose well then?
I use white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda down the plug hole of the kitchen sink to clean it, but didn't think of putting it in the washing machine. Does it leave a vinegar smell, I would be worried it would make the clothes smell vinegary :-S

OH is cooking tonight, just fish and chips so nice and easy for him. I'm so grateful as I have a temperature and didn't feel like being in a hot kitchen. My headache has eased a bit, hopefully it will go completely soon.

Frank Report 14 Jul 2016 19:32

Evening all,

Didn't get home till after 6.00 this afternoon. We went to the hospital for 1,30 pm I was called into the Physio almost at once. She talked me through the operation and all the gory details of the after effects. Made me feel like I wanted to CANCEL there and then. She was a bit older than I expected but at least she was a woman. Then I had to see the nurse for a complete examination, Bloods, wee test swabs from my nose and groin.ECG. Then we had to fill out about 8 pages of questions In all we were there until 4.00 pm. Again a nice younger nurse. !!! Very professional and excellent treatment by all members of staff. Must not eat or drink for 24 hours before admission apart from water up to 2 hours before.

Ros then wanted to go to Lidl, Sainsbury's and Boots. By the time we got to eat and had a pint. The day was almost over. Now home alone as she has gone to choir practice with Valerie. Val next door didn't want to go.

I feel as though I have been through the mangle, so going to put my dressing gown on and relax before an early night. Just hope Ros won't be late coming home. She has my key in her bag, so I can't lock up !!!!

Jane

Jane Report 14 Jul 2016 19:55

Frank,at least all pre op things done now :-D..Did you say your op is on the 20th? Those swabs are to make sure you aren't a carrier of MRSA.
You can relax now tonight :-D

Nice for you Gill having dinner cooked for you tonight. It sounds like you need to take it a bit easy for a few days if you have a temp.I had to smile when you said the cake was the Chocolate Flake one :-D :-D Good on Sandra :-D :-D.She knows what she likes :
Liz I get the drift now with the sprayer.I just wasn't quite sure when you said about it.

Thomas is on a mission !! he keeps being desperate to 'get out'.I have a feeling the mice /voles/shrews are out and about.I just spotted the tail end of something as it ran for its life with Thomas not far behind.I just pulled him back in time on the harness.
So he is now shut in for the night. He has had his bit of semi freedom for today.

I think it might be Ann's last night away tomorrow so maybe home on Saturday.
If she has had a day like we have had here today then she will have had a great day :-D :-D

magpie Report 14 Jul 2016 20:02

You can see on line Gill how to use it. White vinegar doesn't smell anything like as strongly as malt or cider vinegar, so if you just add some to the water, do a hot wash without any clothes, and do the usual rinses it cleans the machine beautifully.

Gillx

Gillx Report 14 Jul 2016 23:23

I'm just watching the end of long lost family then I'm off to bed.

Apparently Jane, OH chose the cake, but I'm sure it was probably because he knows Sandra likes that one......so long as they're both happy that's the main thing.
I had visions of Thomas pulling you under the hedge when he was eyeing up the mice etc.....it did make me smile. Good job you were keeping an eye on him and stopped him just in time.

So Ann is due back over the weekend. Hope they both had a nice time away. I've really missed her and look forward to hearing all about her holiday.

I'll take a look online about the vinegar Liz, is a 40 degree wash hot enough?

So all the pre-op stuff is done now then Frank. Don't be put off my the after effects, you really need this op and will feel great once it's done. They have to tell you everything or they wouldn't be doing their job properly. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Well, I'd better get back to the programme, OH has just said he's getting tired and he's up for work in the morning. There's only about 10 minutes left on it, so not long.
See you all tomorrow
Night Night

Morning all,

Cloudy here today and not very bright either.

I forgot the library yesterday and they rang up to say they have a cd in for me. By this time I had already missed the afternoon library in the village up the raod so I said I woudlgo to Torrington today and collect them. There should be three in all!"!

I shall probably go round Lidl whilst I am there.

magpie

magpie Report 15 Jul 2016 10:09

No Gill, you add the vinegar to the water when you do a clothes free boil to clean the machine. It tells you the amount on line.
Cloudy here too Mel! Just waiting for the dishwasher to finish, then we're off shopping, Quel bore!! ! Never a dull moment!!!!!

Morning my lovelies, evening Kim.

EXERCISE all done this morning, I have to repeat it 3/4 times a day , so Ros will be getting onto me to make sure I do them. Jane I go in at 7.40 am 30th July. I hope we are awake in time. (I doubt I will sleep the night before).!!! I had to do my own groin swabs lol lol

Madam was at the hairdressers for 10.00 am trim and colour, so must tell her how nice it looks <3 <3,
So Thomas has the scent of his dinner when he goes out in the garden. You make sure you hold on to his lead, or he will be off.

Nobody told me where Ann and Gordon went to in Norfolk. I DID ASK !!!

I know Ros puts something in the Dish Washer once in a while to clean that, but I don't know about the Washing Machine.

So Sandra had a cake of her choice for OH birthday Gill. She's not slow in going forward is she ???

We were in Lidl yesterday and bought a beautiful piece of their matured beef. It was big enough to cut into two pieces so out at a fiver per joint. And going by their steaks, it should be very nice for Sunday dinner.

What a terrible thing that happened in France. A lot dead and many more injured.

I am trying to build up enough energy to attempt my lawns today. At least they are dry at the moment. Showers promised later in the day. I think yesterday was the only DRY DAY THIS MONTH

As you say Frank, the terror attack in Nice is just shocking. We're watching it on the news and its hard to comprehend such horror. A lot of the victims were very young children which has reduced me to tears.

I use white vinegar a lot Liz and swear by it. Didn't realise you could use it in the washing machine too, so will try that soon. I need a day when I don't have much washing, which as everyone knows is not very often LOL.

Yes I noticed the truck incident online when I came on, apparently they are looking for the parents of some of the children. I don't know what this world is coming to, it seems to be happening far to much lately.

Mum called round this morning and took Sandra and I out to a local market. I haven't been to it for ages, it has changed so much and not a patch on what it used to be. We took at look around some local shops but it started raining so we came home early. I did manage to find a 5 and a 0 birthday candles so they will be going on the chocolate cake for OH and I also found some cheap light bulbs. 49p each or 3 for £1.20. I bought 3 60W and 3 40W ones. They weren't the energy saving ones, which was good for me, as we have a dimmer switch with an energy saving light bulb in and it flashes every time I turn it on, it's a bit scary when that happens so I've now changed it and it's working fine. I also popped one of the 40W ones in a lamp I had. OH will be pleased as he paid £4.50 for one energy saving light bulb the other week, although it should of been £6 but they priced it up wrong so they had to sell it at the lower price. I know they are supposed to be better and last longer but there is a heck of difference between 49p or less and £6, it makes you wonder if the energy saving ones are good value for money or not :-S :-S

Yes, keep up with your exercises Frank. Good luck for the 30th July. That's early, don't forget to set your alarm you don't want to be late. Does that mean your op will be in the morning? At least you won't have to wait around thinking about it for long if it is.

Fancy forgetting the library again Mel, that's a few times you've done that. Good job you can still get your CD's. What are they, anything interesting?

Going to watch Masterchef with Sandra now, then a couple of other programmes I've recorded for us. It's still raining here. Luckily it was sunny before we went out so I managed to do a bit of weeding. My temperature is back to normal now, but I will take it easy this afternoon, I don't want to over do things and makes myself ill again. I'm hoping I sleep better tonight as I had another sleepless night last night, so feel quite tired now after 2 bad nights sleep.

<3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLIAM <3 <3 if you're looking in.

Afternoon All

Happy BIrthday to your OH Gill.I'm sure he is going ot enjoy that cake :-D :-D. Great choice ;-) We used to have a good Market here, but sadly no longer. There are a few odd stalls I think on a Friday in the town centre but that is it.

I bet Ros feels great with her coilour and cut done now Frank..I must make an appointment to get my colour done next week or the week after.t is getting a bit desperate :-S.It will be important for you to make sure you do all the excerices before your op .I'm sure it will become a bore but stick with it.You will have weeks of exercise after the op !!!.

I had the dentist this morning. All good :-D.Just have to see the Hygienist .He did X-rays as it has been 2 years since my last ones.

Not a particularly nice day here.Bit spitty this afternoon and really not too warm.
I have put Thomas out in the Summerhouse with Chris as he was driving me up the wall with Miaowing and being crazy trying to climb walls and skidding on the hall floor.(not good for that leg).So Chris can watch him now for a while while I start something for dinner.

The images on tv of that Lorry driving through all those poor people was just shocking.
So many killed and young children too. From what I heard they are expecting the death toll to maybe rise :-( My heart goes out to everyone there <3
France has certainly had more than its share of terrorism recently.

My tongue is almost stuck to he roof of my mouth .I need a Cuppa :-D

I have wished William a Happy Birthday on his FB page.

Afternoon all,

Have not seen the yellow thing all day, and there has been a damping in the air. Did manage to cut the back lawn, but that completely Bugg##ed me. So apart from my exercise this afternoon, I have done nothing.
I saw that it was Wills birthday on FB this morning, so passed on my wishes then.

When is your OH 50th Gill.??

Turkey stir fry by Ros this evening. We will have it later, as we have just had a COT and a cake.

I had a phone call from my SIL this afternoon (BILLS WIFE) she has just come out of Hospital after having a STROKE. She said she didn't realise just how horrible it was, and how she thought people played on the fact that they had had one. Now she has a different opinion having had one herself. She seems to have my problem of FLYING OFF THE HANDLE at the least thing. !!! So it's not only me ;-) ;-) ;-)

We haven't heard from ANNE today, so I hope everything is alright with her and the family. <3 <3

William Report 15 Jul 2016 18:11

Hello everyone, here I am a stranger in paradise (whoops, wrong song - maybe it should be Happy Birthday to ME!

Thank you all for posting birthday greetings to me on Facebook, and on here - I do appreciate it and not to be forgotten - and a special thanks to Mel for your snail-mail card. It was very apt having a double deck bus on the front which echoed the Midland Red double deck model bus that Carmel bought me which was a model of the 658 which ran from Coventry via Nuneaton to Leicester and one which ran past our Close and which we'd travelled on many times over the years.
We have spent the day visiting my daughter at Woodford Halse, she only came home from hospital in Oxford on Monday after being seriously ill with sepsis on the knee which she had replaced twice already. Unfortunately due to a medicines mix up between two hospitals she has sustained some kidney damage which has to be monitored but thankfully she won't need a transplant or dialysis. It wasn't possible to visit her at Oxford, too far for an old 'un like me and even where she lives is nearly an hours drive.
Carmel's sister-in-law in Dublin who had been suffering with Alzheimer passed away a few weeks ago after a very long and lingering seven or eight months of suffering. Carmel now worries about her brother Harry as he and his wife were 'joined at the hip' and also he has a lot of health problems as well.
On a more pleasant note, a whole contingent of the Irish family were over at the weekend for a birthday celebration (not mine!0 so Carmel was able to have a good old catch-up. On Sunday we had a big family get together and meal at the DC6 Diner at Coventry Airport which a converted aircraft which does meals, very original - but a long wait for meals!
I know previously I was to send some photos out to you all but I just haven't got around to it yet. Our latest great-grandson, Lincoln Phoenix is coming on now and hopefully we will get to see him again during the week ahead. I'll have to find some of these out and get round to my emailing. A couple of weeks ago our local Carers Group, which I help run, were given an award for our work and there was a presentation evening which three of us attended, a chance to shake hands with the Lady Mayoress of Nuneaton. Not royalty, but probably the nearest I'll get.
I think I've run out of steam now so I'd better close this one up. I must try to look in more often but there always seems to be something - or is me just getting old? I now have a young chap come once a fortnight for three hours to give me a hand with the garden chores I can't manage. The nice thing about is that I get out there and do some of the lighter jobs for three hours, so it's a win win situation.
Okay folks, enough is enough, I'll try and look back in later. I know I don't post much but I do think about you all all the time - and thanks to my pal Frank for his words on Facebook every now and again (not to mention the email fun).
T T F N - Will - William , or whatever :-D

Hello Will, nice to see you. Sorry to hear about Carmel's SIL and your daughter. At least your daughter is on the mend now which is good news. Enjoy the rest of your birthday <3

Thanks for the birthday wishes for OH Jane but it's not his birthday until Sunday, I'll let him know you have aged him LOL :-D :-D

Sorry to hear your SIL has had a stroke Frank, hope she is on the mend soon.

Yes, no Anne today, it's not like her, hope everything is okay <3

I'm just watching the weather and it looks like rain tomorrow, so that'll stop my plans in the garden. I thought it was supposed to be dry. OH has about a week and a half off work so hopefully we'll have some nice weather so we can finish the framework and put up the screening, it's been going on for months and I'm getting fed up of it now. What with OH working and the rain this job seems to be taking forever to finish :-( We're going to have to do more than we first thought all along the back as the plastic windbreak we put up is blowing around in the slightest breeze, so we think it might just blow down in the winter winds and we don't fancy having to fix it then, so better to put something stronger in now, to save us work later.

I watched Masterchef but no more programmes I recorded as I watched the news, those poor people in France. My heart goes out to them <3

Keep those exercises up Frank it will get those muscles nice and strong ready for your op ,hubby has some to do too ,lifting his leg up from the bed when he's laying and also a buttock clenching exercise :-0
He had a call from the hospital today to arrange an appointment for his pre op ...again !!! i think this one will just be a half hour appointment as he did all this only a week or two ago , he has to go on thd 6th August.

Son is off work with a very bad chest infection ,he has been really poorly the last few days and has antibiotics to take now so hopefully they will help.

I was going to say you could get a five and a zero candle for your OH's cake Gill , i've had those flake cakes and they are really nice but you only need a small slice.
