Frank Report 27 Jul 2016 11:03

Good morning Liz, and all, evening Kim,

I could have joined you for tea this morning Liz, I was lying awake from 5.00 am The pain in my back has decided to go down my legs, It's a sort of cramp feeling but duller. Ros said she gets this type of pain every day and night. She has had FOUR major back operations, and is on morphine patches daily. So I hope mine doesn't develop like that ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) Plus I think I am getting on edge, about the operation.

Martine's OH had his Hip replaced on Monday three hour operation. They had trouble with his sedation. He watched the whole thing. NO WAY MATE !!!!

It looks like Ros has plans to part decorate the lounge (two walls) with new paper and the rest painted. I hope she leaves it until I am able to help, or we get someone in to do it. GILL do you want a JOB ??? <3 <3 <3

Poor old Thomas, having to be caged up all that time at the vets, I bet he was glad to get home to his loving home <3 <3

Raining when I got up, JJ wasn't that keen on going out. I had a towel waiting for him when he came in. He's crashed out now on the sofa, where Ros sits. !!!

Monthly injection at 3.50 this afternoon. Ros will take me, I don't feel like walking anywhere today.

Hows the chap in the Church Yard Mandy ?? are you still feeding him, or has he moved on ??

Any more eaten eggs Mel, and how are the new 'uns settling in now ??

Ros is at B & Q as we speak. She has picked up Carolyn as it's the 10% of day for OAPs. and she want's some bits. Ros came home with more plants yesterday. They called at the garden centre for a COT and had a nose around the "REDUCED" stalls, so that was a disaster waiting to happen ;-) ;-) ;-) When they got back I went out to Carolyn's car and said what's ours as she opened the tailgate."All of it" SO I bought in two bags full of groceries and started to unpack them. "WHERE'S MY SHOPPING "called Carolyn. I had started to put things in the fridge and cupboards . So had to get them out and repack the bags. SILLY MOO.

Sun and big white clouds now. So I am pleased I got the back lawn done yesterday.

See you later, have a nice day whatever you are doing.

Frank, it sounds as if you've got sciatica which can easily happen with a trapped nerve. It happened to me some years ago and boy was it painful! I ended up with having a course of acupuncture which did do the trick.
Good luck with your op on Saturday. At least you will be resting afterwards which will help your nerve!!
Windy this morning but becoming brighter, so I'm sitting outside with my coffee!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Jul 2016 11:34

Morning Frank Liz and all,

Grey skies here and it has been raining a little.

Frank no more broken eggs so far I think it must just have been the upset of the move and coming into contact with my two old hens and the pecking order. Not so much hesitation going in at night either. The old ones used to sit on the perch above and peck them as they came in.

I think the scafford men are comeing today to put that up for the work to be done on our solar panels. We have closed all the back curtains so they can't see in.

We've got our own scaffolding that OH bought years ago to do some tiling on the roof of our old house! Not sure that he would be up for that any more, but I think he could manage the bungalow! It's nice and warm here when the sun comes out, but the wind is a bit chilly!
More weeding this afternoon , and son coming to supper next week. Daughter off to France on Sunday for two weeks, to get some sun as she puts it!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Jul 2016 15:54

Still waiting. They said they would come the Wednesday before the 1st Aug when they are supposed to be doing the panels.

Very fine rain here most of the day so I think I shall go and do some ironing.

Jane Report 27 Jul 2016 17:32

Afternoon Al.I Its turned out really hot now :-D.Lots of lovely blue sky.

Frank it does sound like a bit of Sciatica now doesn't it.Lets hope it gets no worse.I would be getting a bit tetchy too now like you just before a big op.Just a few days now and it will all be done :-D

I am glad the Hens are settling down now Mel.Fingers crossed they have given up eating their own eggs. I hope these people don't muck you about. They should have been there by now if they were coming. Can you give them a call to find out why they haven't arrived?

I managed to get an appointment this morning to have my colour done.No grey showing now :-D :-D

The Vet rang and said he is happy with Thomas's X-rays .But I have to keep him harnessed for another month at least !! :-S :-S :-( :-(He said there is not enough muscle yet in his back leg for it to be safe to let him go.Chris has just taken him down the garden for the first time today. All Thomas has done is sleep really since yesterday.Only one wee last night(nothing so far today) and he has just had a few bits of roast chicken.I expect he will be back to normal tomorrow.

A new recipe tonight.I have just been chopping ginger, garlic, spring onions, carrot and baby corn. Then it is thin slices of chicken breast, ready pouched Basmati Rice, frozen peas Soy Sauce Sesame oil and coconut oil. Some kind of Chicken Fried Rice.Hannah bought a recipe book(I think I said)..She and James are going to have a game of Badminton later this evening.I think James thinks he is being 'ordered ' to go LOL.I imagine it is the last thing he will feel like doing but it will do him good :-D

I will do 2 batches.First sitting James and Hannah then us two :-D.I won't want chillies in mine but know that H&J will.

Janice will be here tomorrow :-D :-D.. She and Larry had had Larry's Grandson for the week .MIchael is 8 and the son of Larrys daughter from first marriage. So Larry will drop Janice here and then carry on the journey to take Michael home to somewhere the other side of Cambridge. He will then come back late afternoon to pick Janice up.
I must remember to wrap a lego present I have for Michael as he has just had his birthday.

Phew it feels a bit sticky now!I think I will go and cool off outside.

Jane Report 27 Jul 2016 18:55

Liz,how are Daughter and family travelling to France?.Just thinking of all the problems at Dover !!!

First sitting of dinner done and a resounding success :-D :-D..So I think Chris and I can safely say ours will be the same :-D :-D..It does smell like a Chinese Restaurant here :-S and this will mean our bedroom up above the Kitchen will smell the same :-S.I hate the way all cooking smells end up in my bedroom :-| :-|.It will PONG.

Yes Frank the chap is still about in the church yard , you asked the other day why i
hadn't seen him about in there before but he's been sleeping in the cemetery which is in another part of the town.
I hope this pain eases up for you soon .

We had pasta tonight ,i did the Greek pasta recipe we had the other week but i used beef mince this time instead of lamb .

You'll have to give the people a ring Mel to see when they are coming to do your job .
Glad the girls are beginning to settle a bit now you'll soon have plenty of nice fresh eggs again .

Hubby has a sore throat !! he needs to get rid of that ,only three weeks now before he has his op ,fingers crossed it's not cancelled again.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Jul 2016 19:50

We have raost lamb and veg all done in one tin. Nice and easy too. O and I have done yorkshires too as I have so many eggs.

Bobtanian

Bobtanian Report 27 Jul 2016 20:39

strange isnt it? the way memories jump out at you?

I vividly remember my mum and her early twenties sisters, doing the veg for sunday dinner........(just about post war time...........)
cut the cabbage into fours....and cut out the "core", which I duly snaffled, and to this day a raw cabbage in the fridge doesn't stand a chance!! I have been known to despatch a cabbage, leaf by leaf...........raw veg just HAS to be sampled....

Evening All,

No rain here today and quite nice and fresh with some sunshine and a slight breeze about. :-)

Hopefully if your hubby is getting something it will be gone by the time his op is due Mandy. He doesn't need any more holdups does he!

Frank, it does sound like sciatica as everyone is saying. We both get it at times, OH worse than me and it is VERY painful. I find those heat pads Jane told me about work wonders. Not long till your op now......how long do they expect you to be admitted for?

Jane I would swap with James for Badminton with Hannah if my knees were up to it. I used to love it and at one time would be playing 4 times a week! I still have one of my white skirts and a pair of white shorts in the loft as well as my raquets and some shuttlecocks. I played in the league for a couple of years till I moved into a house that needed gutting and then had no time with working full time as well. It sounds as if your meal tonight was enjoyed ..........how was the filo chicken you did before?

Mel it is annoying when people don't turn up. How would they like it if you were as unreliable and had them wasting time? Itt's good the eggs are being left alone now. I would certainly be buying some from you if I lived nearby. :-)

Forgot to say yesterday that as I was driving around the local lanes I had the fright of my life. I rounded a sharp left corner and a white car was squeezed onto the verge facing me on the skew and partly in the tall, overgrown hedge. I thought it had run off the road for a second, then my blood ran cold as I realised the window was down on the driver's side and a man was pointing what I thought was a gun at me!!!! I swerved and braked and thought it must be a police car, but there were no markings on it. Then, as I rounded the next left bend I saw an empty police car parked in a field gateway further up, so it must have been police. How utterly stupid though, at this time of terrorist attacks and random shootings, to lie in wait in an unmarked car like that!! They usually use big vans around here for speeding checks and park in clear view. If it had been the other way around and me lying in wait pointing something at them they'd have probably shot at me or my car. :-0 I don't know why they picked a quiet, narrow country lane that's hardly used and in the middle of the afternoon if they wanted to catch speeders, when they could catch boy racers at the island on the main road near us any night of the week. OH thought they might be checking number plates against road tax records.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Jul 2016 22:00

Ann they may have been looking for someone and were told they use dthat road and wanted to get them on camera. They could'nt use a big van on a narrow road but what a thing to come across on a small lane anyway. I bet it really scared you I know it would have frightened me.

Mandy hope Colin gets over this throat thing in time for his op.

Bob my nan always cut the cabbage in four and then the stalks out and I still do it like that. Mum would eat a bit of raw cabbage but I would'nt until mum made coleslaw.

Jane

Jane Report 27 Jul 2016 22:32

OMG Ann!!!!!!!.I think you should maybe contact the local Police and tell them about your scary experience.I am sure that really shook you up!!!

The Chicken Filo Pie was really delicious .Tonights meal too was really tasty.
Mandy I would love your recipe for the Greek Dish.Is it something called Pastichio?(or something like that).
Hi Bob. I don't think I have ever eaten the raw core of a cabbage.I do remember Mum cutting the hard bit out of a cabbage before cutting it up.But I don't recall anyone eating that bit.It may have been given to the Rabbit :-)

I hope OH's throat doesn't devolp into anything worse Mandy. I am off to bed .I need to be up for a good tidy up in the morning. This place is like a tip :-S

Night Night x

Annx Report 28 Jul 2016 10:48

Morning All,

That's just what OH said Jane about contacting the police to let them know it wasn't the safest idea for them to be just there. After this heat and lack of HW because of it, a tidy up and spruce up is needed here too, plus the inclination to do it of course!! :-)

It could have been that Mel, but they usually get the police copter out that is 5 minutes away from where we live for things like that.

Well the painting is all finished and signed now, so I just need to pop to the next village this afternoon to get a print of it for someone and then it can go in it's frame and be put on the wall. I think it will look best in our little hallway where the glass birds are. Now I need some ideas for a 'still life' entry for the village show as I thought I might have a go at that next. Mind you the garden needs an attack with the pruners and OH doesn't have a good track record for pruning!! lol.

Frank Report 28 Jul 2016 11:01

Morning to you all, Evening Kim,

Welcome BOB, I always cut the cabbage in four and core it. My wife doesn't like the storks in cabbage so I take them out as well.

Cursor is jumping all over the place, so have to keep going back and deleting .

Nice lazy day yesterday apart from my injection and cooking dinner. Roast Chicken with four veg and new spuds. JJ loved his chicken dinner last night.

We have the conservatory door open from first thing in the morning, so JJ can come and go as he likes. and the last few days it's not closed until his final wee.

I have Ros at home tonight, no choir practise until September. So it will be Bloo#y soaps, I will record my programmes or watch them in the conservatory.

Mel, that's not good those workmen keeping you waiting like this, what if you want to go out ??

Ann, I would certainly have words with the Duty Inspector of the Traffic Police regarding the stupidity of the way the car was parked. What on earth could they be thinking of, doing that in a Country lane.

Mandy I hope OH gets rid of the cough or they will almost certainly cancel his operation. I have had my last ASPRIN this morning, as per instructions from the hospital.

My Jane you are certainly turning out some excellent meals from this book that Hannah bought you. I am not up to your standard, I stick to quite basic cooking, which suits us, like you Ros can't eat CHILLI. It brings the inside of her mouth up in blisters.

Not a bad morning here, but rain is forecast later. It's starting to cloud over.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Jul 2016 11:37

Morning all,

Not a bad morning up there then well it is pouring down here and has been most of the night according the the washing I left o ut on the line last night as the sky was studded with stars. I really thought it would be dry all night.

When I got the washing of the line, it consisted of three pairs of my draws and two of his, two pairs of his socks and one of his t shirts. Every peg to the clothes had a small spiders web on it all hanging in rain drops. I just could'nt believe it would be on every garment like that and every peg too. I wonder how many spiders I brought in with it and where they are now?

Anyway apart from all that I have had four nice eggs this morning and no body has turned up either, if they ever will..... I hope it was'nt a scam.

Morning All (afternoon by the time I post this)

I think it is still quite humid. We have had a lovely morning but I think rain might be forecast for around lunch time. The clouds are coming.I am hoping it might hold off so Janice and I can sit out.
I am just cooling off after having a bit of a clean around and doing the loos .I bought a bouquet of lovely flowers for Janice and Larry's Anniversary.I must remember that I have put them in a bowl of water in the garage .

Ann your painting will look lovely when you have it hanging on your wall in the hall

Mel did you pay anything to these people? Have you tried calling them today?
So you have all the rain then. Maybe it will clear from your end as it makes its way to us.

Frank,I am not a great cook.I have to follow recipes to the T.I thought as hannah had bought this book that I had better do something from it while she is here. She is out tonight so it is plain Breaded Haddock,Saute Potatoes and Peas and Dwarf Beans from the garden, and baby carrots :-D

Better go now.I'll be back this evening after Janice has gone.

Afternoon all,

Raining here now , it's been nice and sunny all morning and i did get my waxhing dry so thst was good.

Oh my goodness Ann what a fright that must have been seeing some one pointing somd thing as you as you came round the corner, i would definitely ring the police to see if it was them , you never know these days it could be some one pretending to be police and then try to hold up a security van or some thing .

Jane the recipe was called Greek Lamb Pasta Bake ,it was very tasty and nice and easy .
It will be nice for you to see your sister and have a catch up.

I have made a nice flower arrangement for son and DIL it's their wedding anniversery on sat ,we will also give them some money .

Oh heck Mel i hope it's not a scam !! have you paid them any money ?

Still muggy here even though it's raining ,we have the fan going .
