Years ago I used to work next door to a rough pub
Every weeked there was at las one big fight.
The Police used to arrive by the van full and raid it.
Armoured Policemen and Policewomen would go storming in.
The Policewomen were young and slightly built, but every bit as tough as the men..

Talking about Policewomen, I had the ex Chief Constable Sue Sim at my bedside as I lay injured in the trauma ward. What a big compassionate woman she is. The reason she was in the ward is because she was visiting one of her constables who was in the bed opposite.

The Chief Constable she replaced was educated at the same school as I was..
Small world innit ?

Thats interesting David.

Have just pulled all the flowers off the lavender and sat down here and I think I have very small creepy crawlies travelling over my face. I keep having to rub my eyes and smooth tickles off my face. Think I shall go and have a wash of m y face and shake my jumper.

Afternoon Everyone
Its really hot this afternoon. Mel are the littlew critters like the tiny thunder flies? I have some on my laptop right now(I'm sitting outdoors.I just hope they don't manage to find their way inside the laptop :-S I can never unstand how they get in behind picture frames. There all sorts of tiny flying things today.

So you have had your first Bean Mel :-D..You have beaten me.I had a look this morning and although there a lot coming now they still have a fair way to go before I can pick them.

Mandy ,your friends are going ot love your Flower arrangement .It is so pretty.Did you say it is this evening.

David I remember you telling us about the Chief Constable being in the ward when you were there. She has been retired a number of years now I think(if it the one I am thinking of) Did she lose her position? I should google her really.

Chris has gone ot get stuff for repointing bits of our side wall of the house where he has pulled off old dead Ivy branches. We had a problem a while ago with water getting through to the wall paper, and don't need any more trouble.

No Frank today .Hopefully he is just taking things at his own pace and napping when he needs to .
No Gill either for the last few days.Is it Monday she said she is having her bloods taken?

I have been sitting here watching a beautiful Thrush going around the lawn pulling up loads of little worms. They are all wrapped around the beak.I don't think it is able to get any more on or in it !!!

I still haven't had any pics of Jilly from my Sister.I'm sure all is well so hopefully I will get some soon.
Thomas has just come out of the Summerhouse dragging his lead.Better go and untangle it.He had a good kip in there and will no no doubt flop down on the patio and have another one :-D :-D

Frank

Frank Report 5 Aug 2016 16:55

I have posted for almost an hour, then lost the lot. I haven't the energy to start again, but I am thinking of you, and thanks for all your kind thoughts and comments.

She didn't lose her position Jane, she chose to retire to protect her pension.
Apparently senior officers under couldn't take her discipline and complained.
She must have come on strong for them to do that.

Jane

Jane Report 5 Aug 2016 17:14

Oh dear Frank.Never mind .Better luck next time :-D
I hope you have less pain today.I'm sure each day will be a little better and now you have your walking frame getting about will be much easier for you.

I haven't a clue what we are having for dinner yet.It is either Ready Cooked Chicken with Salad and New Potatoes or Lemon Sole Fillets ..Maybe it should be the fish as it is Friday :-D
James has a separate meal as he will be off down to Chislehurt to Jess for the weekend. We haven't seen her for over a month as James has been going down there.I'm not complaining as it is nice to have the place to ourselves sometimes.
James has bought a Memory Foam Pillow on Groupon and it arrived today.I am just wondering if I actually have any pillow cases that will fit !!!.I might have to go to Dunelm at the weekend and get a couple of bigger ones.

I woke this morning with a one-sided sore throat and earache :-S. Got those horrible white pustules on my left tonsil. :-SIt's one of those that when I swallow I get the pain in my ear.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Aug 2016 17:47

O Jane thats horrid when you get that sore throat with a pain too. You'll have to gargle with some TCP.

Just put out 12 pots on strawberry runners each with a nice stone on top to keep them down till they root. The new plants from last years runners did really well in big pots so I shall increase the amount for next year.

Jane

Jane Report 5 Aug 2016 18:44

I haven't got any TCP Mel. Maybe I can have a gargle with a glass of wine later :-D
You meniton TCP. Yesterday when I was in town there was a chap who had obviously been in a fight or a fall or something similar and his face was covered in scrapes .He stank of TCP lol.I think he was either drunk or off his face on something. The whiff of TCP was so strong !!!

Just spoke to Fitz.He is ok but said this morning was very strange as Podge wasn't there to jump on his bed and have a rub :-(
Have suggested that he needs to make some kind of complaint/comments to the Vets about the fact he had to wait so long in the waiting room like that.I think when I go in the next couple of weeks for Thomas's booster I might mention that my friend found it very distressing having to sit there for so long waiting to have his lovely cat put to sleep.
Not sure where Thomas has gone.Probably on the landing.....Oh no he's not .Chris says he is in the study on the settee :-D

David

David Report 5 Aug 2016 20:22

It might have been turps Jane
Until you get some TCP try gargling with warm salty water, said to help.

Would your friend have a replacement for the one he's just lost
or is it far too soon ?

A neighbour of mine was inconsolable when his dog died quite young.
Now six months later he's happy again walking a young pup.

Anne

Anne Report 5 Aug 2016 21:36

Jane, Hope your throat soon feels better, I too find diluted TCP helps, I know it doesn't smell very nice if you put it directly on your skin.

Frank, sorry that you lost another post but I hope you are beginning to sleep better at night.
,
It has been a lovely day here sunny all day but not too hot, I hope it stays this way for a while.

David Report 5 Aug 2016 21:52

Going to have a look through my Kindle.
Goodnight all. Have a peaceful night Frank.

Jane

Jane Report 5 Aug 2016 21:59

The weekend looks good weather wise Anne :-D 24-25 degs!!.
My throat is not too bad tonight .Mainly with the help of Paracetamol and Ibuprofen .
But also Oregano capsules. They are supposed to be a natural antibiotic/anti inflammatory.I was given them by a pharmacist in France this year when I had trouble with a painful gum around one of my teeth. They seemed to work well so I have invested in the same from Holland and Barrett . :-D

I would love to stay up to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics ,but it is just going to be too late for me.I will have to watch it on catch up tomorrow.

David it def wasn't turps LOL It was TCP for sure .I know that smell :-D

Off to bed now .So I will say Night Night ,sleep tight everyone (especially Frank :-) )

We've had a really busy week with one thing and another, Son has been over a couple of times to help OH with some jobs and to collect a board OH has cut for him to use as a work top in his kitchen. He mowed the grass for me too so I'm chuffed!
The fields opposite us have been cut (rape) so Cas now has 60 acres to run in!! That is, till it's reploughed, ready foe sowing. We've got a ball launcher which is brilliant! You should see her run! like grease lightning!
Hope everyone is fit and fine and that the knee is feeling more comfortable Frank.

Jane Report 6 Aug 2016 12:04

Afternoon All

Well I have made the decision to let Thomas of his harness.Poor boy is just desperate to get out now.So I will be a gibbering wreck until he comes back.He has gone under the hedge !!!.I wonder what on earth he might be hunting for :-S.

Liz,Cas is going to be even fitter with all that field to run around in chasing that ball ! :-D.That was good of your Son to save you the job of mowing.

Better go and see if Thomas is still about.

Jane

Jane Report 6 Aug 2016 12:15

Mouse number 1 just being eaten on the patio :-S

magpie

magpie Report 6 Aug 2016 12:41

You're going to have to let him go at some stage Jane, so no time like the present!!!, I can see you're going to be on tenterhooks though!!
Son's always been good over helping around the place. Way back when he lived at home he'd always offer to give me a hand to do jobs, or give OH help in the garden etc. He does the same round the house for his Partner I'm pleased to say, so, yes, he's a goodl chap! Daughter was never as thoughtful and always needed chivvying!!
We'd hoped to have a bonfire but it's too windy, also I've got washing on the line, so it'll have to wait!
Cas is still crashed out! I must take a pic of her in full flight! She looks so pretty with her ears flying as she races round!

Jane

Jane Report 6 Aug 2016 13:09

Liz,Chris has just gone down the garden to have a bonfire and get rid of all our cardboard .it isn't too breezy here yet.
Just sent a pic of Thomas sat patiently waiting for his next course !!!.
I am just going to pop a Higgedy Crustless Quiche in the oven for lunch.
