WOW Mandy!!!! Well done you. That is a lot of weight to lose :-D :-D.I didn't know you were dieting. As Mel walking Max will help a lot too. I'm not discussing my weight :-S :-S
Frank, now those staples are out it must feel a bit less sore. They always go so tight .So it sounds as though the physio was happy enough with the way things are going :-DThat is really good. That 's not so good for Ros though with the results of her MRI.It is showing a lot worse than the last time? The fact they can't operate again too :-(
LOL Liz.I love it when dogs manage t oget those rings hooked over their noses and can't get them off.It is good that Cas can amuse herself with it :-D.Is she trying to get your attention :-D :-D
Just had an email from Rachel in Cape Town. She and children are coming over to England and she would like to stay with us for 3 nights later this month. Now it has been a long time since we saw them and she hasn't been to our house since that dreadful bust up we had a few years ago.I have put it all behind me now (even though she never apologised for her awful behaviour that day.).I just hope Chris and James can manage to be normal and not makes things awkward as they haven't been as forgiving as me.I think I am going to have to say to Rachel that it would be better if she and the Children stayed at the Travel Lodge as I do spend a lot of nights in the spare bed because of my bad hip which means there will be no room at the Inn .I won't be lying as I do sleep in there a lot lately. It is just more comfortable for me and I don't disturb Chris.I am quite happy for them to come early in the mornings for breakfast and to spend the days here.I will be worrying about this now until I reply and get an answer back.
Max looks a gentle soul lying there Mandy !!!!!!.Dreaming of what he is going to chew up next :-D :-D

No, she's not attention seeking Jane. She plays in the garden on her own for ages with this ring, tossing it about putting it on her head and running up and down without an audience! She's got a smaller one for the house which she runs up and down the passageway with !! Apart from that it's one of her teddys, quacker or a rolled up sock that she plays with again and again! Poor things are looking very battered! Not been hot here today! Although it's been sunny which is just the job, the wind has been horrid, that's why I sat outside at the back this afternoon out of the wind and in the sun - lovely! Need to make that salad!!

Frank that knee must feel better with those staples out ,less tight , which should help when you try to bend it . Oh poor Ros that wasn't what she wanted to hear about her back, she does so well doing all the gardening .
Yes i think Max will be a big boy ,his dad was quite a size when we saw him . He seems a bit off colour today ,keeps laying about and thats like him he usually has his mouth on some thing chewing it to bits , we took him to sons yesterday and i wonder if he ate some thing he shouldn't in the garden.
I haven't really been dieting just eating smaller meals and i suppose walking Max must help too, getting up from the chair more like Ann said and also doing more for hubby saving him getting up as much . Next week being on my own i don't suppose i shall bother to cook just for my self and I'll be backwards and forward to the hospital so that should keep me active. I must admit i do feel better for it ,i can bend better and although my knees ache a bit at the end of the day they have felt better too.

Morning all,
Been mizzling here most of the maorning but the sun istrying to break through now, I think...
I had a really bad night last night. I arose three times for a wee thinking that would make me sleep, it did'nt. Oh told me to keep saying THE THE THE but that did'nt work and this morning he had the cheek to tell me that after he told me that I was straight asleep and snoreing when in actual fact it was him whop waas snoring so he must have heard himself. I was up at 3am, 4.10am and the last time was when the blackbird woke me about 5.30am. After that oh got up and I spead myself across his side f the bed and pinched his pillows as the under ones were nice and cold and put my arm over those and must have fallen asleep. He woke me at 11.20am and here I am.
The girls were not impressed with my lie in. When I let them out after getting dressed they all rushed to the water but before that they all moaned at me. :-S
So here I sit with my first COT talking to you lot, oh is fast asleep and I am hungry...
O a bird has just hit the kitchen window.
I have the most painfull toe today. Well I had it yesterday too. Its my bad one that dos'nt bend after stubbing it and destroying the cartledge. I think at last it has started to go sideways towards the other toes. The pain seems to be in the bunyon and the instep?? O well I suppose I will survive.

Afternoon Mel afternoon all,
Lovely and sunny here , i've been to town to collect our tablets so hubby has plenty to take into hospital with him next week. We sat out and had coffee when i came back and then i walked Max ,when i came through the churchyard Nicko was sat near the vestry eating bread , i had a chat with him seems he was attacked and hurt by some lads as he sat on a bench in the churchyard so he decided to move on but he has been asked to move from the allotments so has found some where else to bed down but he wouldn't say where .
So another bad night for you then Mel , at least you managed to get a little sleep with the lay in .
Lovely photos of Cas Liz she is such a lovely colour
Not much happening here the rest of the day ,i expect hubby will watch some of the Olympics and I'll potter in the garden .
Did anyone see any shooting stars last night ? i looked out about half past one but the sky had clouded up so i didn't see any .

Mel is that what they call a Hammer Toe ? When it bends across. I do what you do when Chris gets up.Slide over his side and have the cooler pillows.Iam forever turning mine over in the night.
Mandy was Nico badly hurt when he was attacked? Poor chap he doesn't deserve that.It is a shame he has been told to move from the allotments .although I can understand it in a way.Hopefully he found another safe place now.
No I didn't see any shooting stars last night.I did stand outside for a while but it was far too cloudy. So is OH ready now for Monday Mandy?(I think you said Monday).Did they say how long he is likely to be in?He is going to be so relieved to get his hip sorted at last.
It is quite a sticky day here.More cloud than sun.I went over to Waitrose this morning.it is about a 15/20 min drive .Chris was going to go as he wanted a certain Art magazine that he can't get anywhere else. But he couldn't be bothered. So I went instead.A good excuse to get some nice different things :-D Thomas is eating a mouse :-S
The door bell rang this morning and it was my neighbours grandson. He is a bit of a problem and had been staying with them until Thursday when they said he had to go as they were going away and they didn't want him in the house .Well he was only asking me if I still had a key as he had money in the house and needed it..But I had to pretend I didn't have the key any longer as I was told not to let him in the house if he turned up..What a good job I wasn't at the house watering the pots !!!!!.I had been just about to go !!!!!!!!!!.It would have been very difficult to stop him walking in the house. I did keep a look out from the front window in case Luke had decided to try and break in .Chris and I have just been down to do the plants and it looks all secure :-).I have to go in anyway to pick up any post and papers that might be sticking out of the letterbox.
Thanks Liz for the pics of Cas.She really is a lovely girl :-D
No Gill now for AGES !!.I just hope it is the router problem and nothing else.
How are you today FRANK? Hopefully you had a better night than Mel.
I have just seen the time and see it is 2.40 :-0..I haven't even had any lunch.Bit too late now I think. Chris and i are having that Youngs Jumbo Scampi that I bought this week as it was half price. Did you get any Mandy?

Afternoon to you all,
Yes another beautiful day here. After this mornings shopping , Martine came over at 2.00 pm to take me to the Canal Festival (we do have a wheel chair in the Garage). But I refused, as I didn't want anyone bumping into my leg OCH !!! So Ros has taken her down in her car with her parking badge.
I must agree having those staples out, makes the knee feel more relaxed. even though it's still very sore down each side of my shin and round my thigh.( She did say my thigh would be sore for weeks)
"Minnie MANDY" is that a new name for you. ??" Max will certainly be a lot quieter after the chop. (Poor old boy)
Like Cas, JJ has toys that he toss's in the air and chases around. He has chewed the nose and an ear off one toy, and a tail off another. They are always wet and soggy. The cat is very quiet. She eats at night, and sleeps during the day.
I am looking forward to being able to get a nights sleep. I slept from 9.30 last night till 2.15 then from 6.00 to 8.00. The trouble is now I could do with a few zzzz. But I am doing my best to stay awake.
Trust you are all keeping in the best of health and enjoying this weather..
See you soon.

Frank, does Fluffy go outside or is she an indoor cat? I'm glad your knee feels a bit easier now with the staples out.It sounds as though things are all going well though :-D. Thomas has sauntered off down the garden with his limpy wiggly walk he has now.It makes his backside sway in a bit of a sexy way LOL.Bit like a girl :-D(I won't tell him that though :-) )
Did anyone watch the Velodrome cyclists last night? I was on the edge of my seat !!!! Thought it was just brilliant :-D

Frank sounds like you had about as much slep as I had last night, 6 hours in all with a break inbetwee.
Those pics of Cas were lovely were'nt they? She is a dear girl.
Mandy I am glad you have given us an update on Nicko as with your descriptions of him we all feel we know him now. Poor chap being attaked by those lads. Do you think he may be a bit simple poor soul?
Must go and see if Houdini is out again as she has been out three times today so far. I thought I blocked the hole under the wire where I thought she was getting out so I shall have to go and have another look.

No Jane, afraid not !! We watched Wild Scotland, on a sky channel and tonight we have recorded a film to watch after Dads Army. To be honest we shall both be glad when the games are finished, they're just not for us at all. Hopefully this wretched wind will die down tonight as the balloonists are floating out of Bristol tomorrow, and usually make their way over to us, it's quite a sight! OH has just taken Cas in our newly mown field for a burn up, so she's in her cage crashed out! I'm preparing spuds and carrots from the garden to have with a nice steak I bought from our butcher the other day. Chicken tomorrow, so that's the weekend taken care of !! Glad your leg is feeling better Frank. Goodness Ros 's back must be extremely painful. OH slipped a disc 18 months ago and the pain was excruciating, he couldn't do anything much for quite a few weeks.

Hello Everyone
Lovely and warm here now although it took a while for the sun to come out.
Love your doggie photos Mandy & Liz, Cas really enjoys her toys doesn't she. Max is growing up fast and looks nice and relaxed on the settee.
No sign of our blue eyed visitor today but I expect he has someone at home as its the weekend. Amy only barked at him the other day because there was food about normally she's not bothered.
Frank it's good that your leg is feeling a little easier now but not so good your having trouble sleeping. That wasn't good news for Ros about her back is there anything she can take to improve it for her?
Sorry to hear that you are also having trouble sleeping Mel, I do usually have to get up a couple of times in the night to go to the loo but don't usually have any bother going back to sleep
Jane I had to smile about Thomas and his sexy walk, will he always have the slight limp? I don't blame you for not putting your visitors up especially as they caused an upset last time. I think it was a bit cheeky to ask you anyway.
It is strange we haven't heard from Gill I do hope she is alright.

Blow me i knew there was something i wanted from Tesco's, the Scampi !!
Hubby goes in on Tuesday Jane so not to long to go now .
I think Nicko was hurt on the leg ,probably from a kick . No he's not simple Mel ,he sounds quite an educated young chap when you talk to him . Poor chap when i walked Max he was eating the bread when i walked past again this afternoon he had his little gas stove out with a frying pan on , i said oh are you cooking some thing nice ......just some pork rind he said thd butcher gives it away free. :-0 l told him i'm cooking chicken tomorrow so if he's there about five I'll take a dish over to him , that put a smile on his face ,i did look for him again tonight as we had pizza tonight but he had gone .
Thomas might have his sexy limpy walk but it doesnt seem to stop him catching the mice does it , he's done so well when you think of the injury he had.

I can remember just at end of the war 1945ish,,I and my friend worked for Youngers Brewery near New Cross SE London.. We had a good exchange going with the company opposite...A couple of bottles of Youngers Pale Ale and over to the ELDARADO ice cream factory...That was proper italian ice cream as only they can make it....During school holidays I used to go round with the milkman and his horse and cart..He always let me deliver to the big white house on the main road..Saturday collect the milk money and enjoy a nice cold glass of juice or in winter a nice hot chocolate...The owner was Mantovani the orchestra leader..Lovely man and family...LES...

O welcome Les. What a lovely memory of all that time ago. Beer Ice cream and wonderfull music.
More we want more memories please from you?
Morning all,
Nice morning here today. Left my car window open last night by mistake and when I got up this morning there was a sparrow flying around inside the car and it could'nt find its way out!! I had to go and open the boot door and the drivers door and still it was trying to go through the side light window right in the corner where I can't reach. I had to walk round and tap of the glass and with that it flew to the back of the car and out. I bet it has messed everywhere but I was'nt stopping to look as I needed to let the girls out and then have a cuppa.
So what are we all up to today then? I'm doing washing and ironing as oh has run out of t shirts with all this hot weather I hav'nt felt like ironing but must get down to it.

Lots of washing done here yesterday, all folded and put away. If OH wanted ironed T shirts or anything else he'd have to do them himself!! Luckily unless were going out somewhere important he's not fussed! so his everyday 'shirts' just get folded and put away, same with everything else. No ironing unless it's really necessary! For me its a complete waste of time and energy! OH agrees!!! Nothing much going on here today, OH is mowing, again!! I'm about to take Cas for a burn up, then think about lunch! So the day goes on! Hope everyone is fit and fine this am!

Les it was interesting to read about your earlier years, I agree with you about Italian ice cream. In Hastings we had the Demarco family in the 1950's and their ice cream was lovely too.
Not doing too much today, Paul and the girls are coming to Sunday dinner as usual it's roast lamb, already in the oven. Amy got me up at 6,30 this morning so I did all the vegetables then.
Liz I do agree with you about ironing, I only Iron some of my blouses and a couple of Richard's shirts otherwise I am good at folding :-) :-) David does his own ironing he even irons his bath towels and takes ages ironing his PJ s why I don't know.
After Richard has taken Amy out he is going to clean the pond filters as we are off on holiday next Friday, David will be here to look after the cats.

Afternoon fair maidens, and welcome to Les,( there was a big post behind this opening but it's gone again.)
Another bad night all round, was in bed a settled by 11.30 pm. Slept until 2.30 and took my pain killers and had a wee. I laid awake clock watching until 5.30 when I decided I needed the toilet proper. Ros had removed my frame from the bedroom, so I had to wake her to get it for me. BOY OH BOY did I need it. I almost passed out with relief. <3 <3 <3 ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) We got back to bed and slept until 9.00 am.
I managed to get myself a striped wash and put clean cloths on. Ros got my more tea and bread and marmalade for breakfast. , She has gone to the garden centre to replace some hanging basket plants that have died, I am still reading the paper, in between looking on the computer.
Harvey rang 6.30 pm to say he had arrived in France. He left Toddington at 4.00 am yesterday morning, so a long drive on his own. Ros always worries until she hears that he has arrived safe and sound.
Les I too use to do a milk round summer and winter alike. No famous customers, but enjoyed every day doing it. It sounds you are of similar age to me.
Madam is back, and is now going in the garden to do the baskets.
The knee is feeling a bit more relaxed now that the staples are out. The worse pain I have now is where the tornique was.
Hope you all have a nice Sunday Afternoon relaxing and doing what you want.

We had an Italian icecream man when I was young and it was Dellamura. I kept my pony at their stables and used to go out on the icecream van sometimes with Mark. I used to go with Mark to the factory to get the icecream. Funny thing is oh can rember doing an inspection at the factory when he was in the fire brigade.
They had a van that came to where my infant school was so I had their icecream from a very early age up untill 1969 when I moved to Ilford.
