Yes Jane nothing to eat after midnight and only water, black coffee or black tea until six in the morning .
The bottle of wash has to be used twice ,he has to shower with it tonight and then wash his hair and shower with it again in the morning , then he has to take the bottle in hospital with him .
My BIL and sister both had the wash before they went in too.

Anne ,Nicko has been around here since about April , poor chap i keep wondering what he's going to do when the bad weather comes.

Won't be long before we get go bed , we'll be up early and it will be a long day as i won't be able to visit until the evening as hubby will be sleepy .

Evening All,

Will be thinking of you both tomorrow Mandy. It's ideal he is first on the list......nothing worse than seeing others being wheeled off ahead of you, you can't relax. It's best to keep very busy doing mundane tasks yourself. It will help get rid of any tension you are bound to feel. It's good you spotted Nico and know he is still about.

That is a pretty cottage you will be staying in Anne. I got curious after others said about it so had a look too!

What a shame you didn't see the balloons Liz. I always said I would go to the Bristol festival after going up in one, but have never got round to it.

I haven't watched much of the Olympics, but did enjoy the brilliant tennis with Murray v The Argentinian chap, Del Potro. One of the best matches I have seen I think.......no grunting, tantrums or sulking and the Argentinian had more smiles than Murray. I also watched Charlotte Dujardin in the dressage with Vallegro today. I have seen her many times as I always watch the Carl Hester progs on Sky. It's the presenters that I get fed up with, they ask the daftest questions at times.

I hope your sister gets to be seen early on Wednesday Jane. Going with a full bladder won't help her pain either I expect. How is Millie settling in?

I hope a dog doesn't find the poisoned rat in the ditch! Neighbours that kept bulldogs next door to mum and dad found one of their dogs tossing a near dead, poisoned rat in the air that had crawled into their dog runs.

We watched the Sky Arts prog I'd recorded yesterday about Calke Abbey. We'd been to the gardens before but never went round the house at the time as it was timed tours. What an eye opener the prog was about the house and the reclusive, eccentric family that lived there! The house was given to NT in 1985 in lieu of death duties and, like many great houses, it was in a dilapidated state, and they decided to keep it exactly as it had been left! The male occupier who died in 1924 collected vast amounts of all sorts, mostly stuffed birds of which only 750 are left now after selling a third of the collection to pay earlier death duties! We decided to go and see it today and were amazed to see all the collections.....fossils, crystal rocks, shells, all sorts and stuffed everything. :-S

Still no Gill?

Night Night Mandy. Will be thinking of OH and you tomorrow <3

Ann.It is Jillie (not Millie lol ) .She has settled really well .BUT Janice is having trouble getting her toilet trained :-SLots of wee wees all over the place :-S :-S..She is thankful that she has just one rug downstairs and the rest of the flooring is wooden flooring which is easily mopped.
There won't be any problems with a dog picking up the Rat .There is no pavement down the other side of the road by the ditch so no-one walks that side.I don't think it was poisoned .Just Thomas had caught /killed and left it..I just hope I don't get any more.He is in now and I have been chasing him with the brush to try and get all the sticky burrs out of his fur.I think I have got most of them now :-D
Where is Calke Abbey Ann?It sounds an interesting place.

Chris has gone to bed as he feels 'wiped out'.I am going in the spare bed tonight :-D
I have just been up and cleared the bed of all the clean washing !! so I can actually get in the bed.

Cycling in the Velodrome now.I do like this :-)

I didn't know Ann that you have been up in a Hot Air Balloon .I would love to do it ,but sadly don't have the nerve/guts.

Oh Oh crash in the Velodrome involving our man :-SLooks like it was his fault

:-S :-S

I will say night night now. Hope OH and you Mandy get a good sleep tonight before your early start in the morning.I'm sure it will all go well <3

Oh dear Jane, poor Janice I do feel for her, I shall be thinking of her on Wednesday and hoping for good news. Good luck to your OH too Mandy.
We watched the dressage Ann, it was superb. Think Merlin needs a bit more work if he's to compete!!!
We're in bed watching the end of an Agatha Christie, then the news before snuggling down!

Morning all,

Looks like it is going to be another lovely day.

Thinking of Mandy and Colin this morning and hoping all goes well.

Donkey day for me...... I'll say no more but at least it gets me out of these walls.

magpie Report 16 Aug 2016 09:39

You know my views about your donkey day Mel! It wouldn't do for me at all, but beyond that I'll say no more either!!!
Hope all goes well for your hubby Mandy, It'll be a relief to get it over with and be on the path to recovery.
Lovely morning here, so we're de-pooing the little paddock then we shall get on with some outside jobs. Tomorrow we MUST go to Waitrose as we haven't done a big shop for ages and its well overdue!!

Morning all,

Back from the hospital, i stayed with hubby until he went to threatre which was about eight o'clock not sure if i will visit tonight as he will be in recovery for at least six hours after the op and that was going to take four hours so it will be six before i can ring to see how he is .
It's going to be a long day .

magpie Report 16 Aug 2016 10:37

I remember when OH had his op for prostate cancer, and, yes, it was a long day! So I feel for you Mandy and hope a is ok.
Just had son on the phone! They've been revamping their kitchen and he wanted to know what we thought from the photos he sent. It looks really nice. The units are bespoke, but they fitted them themselves and have made a brilliant job of it. Can't wait to go to stay and see for ourselves.
Must take Cas!

Jane Report 16 Aug 2016 16:55

Afternoon All

That was nice and early for OH to go down to theatre Mandy.Hopefully the op is all done and dusted now and he is sleeping off the anaesthetic .If you can't ring the hospital until 6.30 then it will probably be best to leave visiting until tomorrow when he will be more with it.
Have you managed to keep yourself busy today.I expect you haven't really been able to settle to do anything much.Let us know how he is later .

Well Fitz has been for lunch today. He was supposed to be coming tomorrow but he is going out somewhere.I didn't know until this morning.Luckily I had a couple of medium size Pizzas in the freezer.I added some extra toppings to them including some smoked Mozzarella (which has made me really thirsty :-S ).We had the Pizzas with Cucumber and Tomatoes from the garden and it all went down a treat with a couple of glasses of wine :-D

Some BARSTEWARD keyed the side of my car in Tesco Car park this morning :-S :-S
It is definitely not a scratch from a trolley as it is too deep.I have a feeling it might have been the chap who was sitting in the car next to me.Because when I got out of my car ,,my door just touched his car.Literally just touched. No mark or anything. But he gave me a filthy look. He had gone by the time I came out of the store.

It has got hotter and hotter this afternoon. So the fan is my best buddy again :-D.

Got Donkey Day done Mel? Morrisons in Bideford? I think I have said before my Aunty Joyce used to do her weekly shop there .She would get a taxi from Northam and back again.Have you been to the Pannier Market lately?

Jane Report 16 Aug 2016 17:29

Hello Stranger :-D... You should have heard my language ...and I am a lady :-).Luckily no-one heard me.
I suppose it will mean a trip the the body shop repair people :-S The mentality of some people :-| :-| :-|...Imagine how they would feel if someone did that to their car !!!!
Have you got any further looking for a car David?

magpie

magpie Report 16 Aug 2016 17:35

Oh dear Jane, as if you haven't enough to worry about without some pig doing that to your car! There really are some horrible people around.
I hope all is well with your hubby Mandy, it's always a worry till it isn't!!
Daughter rang this afternoon and was on the phone for over 2 hrs!!!! They've just got back from France, so we got the low down about their holiday! They're coming here next week and our 9 year old grandson will stay with us for a couple of nights, then we shall take him home. We're really looking forward to it as he is such a lovely boy but he is quite lively!!!!
Boiled egg salad again tonight, so not too much work!!!

Jane Report 16 Aug 2016 18:24

James has just said it might be worth going back to Tesco tomorrow to see if they might have CCTV in the area I was parked.I might just do that.

Mandy will be ringing the hospital any time now :-).

I must give my Sister a call in a minute to see how she has been today and wish her luck for her scan tomorrow .I just really hope nothing really serious shows up.It's times like this when I wished we lived nearer each other .
Chris is watering the garden .Everything is parched.I did my neighbours pots and hanging baskets this morning and they were bone dry even after doing them yesterday. They will be home anytime soon so my duties are done :-D

Annx Report 16 Aug 2016 18:31

Evening All,

I hope you've been able to get some news on your hubby Mandy and that he is fine. You will feel a lot better once you have been able to speak to the hospital to see how he is. Best wishes to him. :-)

Oh what a shame about your car Jane!! Some people are really nasty. It's usually when you have a car that isn't very old too. Not cheap to put right either. :-S Calke Abbey is at Ticknall in Derbyshire. We still didn't get to see the walled garden as it isn't near the house, but they seem to run a little open truck around that we saw people riding in. My trip in a Hot Air Balloon was for my 40th from Stanford Hall and I thought it would help with my nerves about flying........it didn't!! I would go up again though, but might have trouble squatting for the landing with my knees now!! lol. My then hubby wouldn't go up with me though and he didn't mind flying.

We've just been to the fav carvery today and popped in a garden centre on the way home and been lazy otherwise. I hope Chris is feeling better now.

I must go and pick some toms and 2 cues from the rogue seedling that was amongst some lettuce I bought.........it's done better growing outside than the one I had in the greenhouse.

David Report 16 Aug 2016 18:54

Jane, whoever did that may have been caught on CCTV.
If so you may get his registration number ?
Then then the Police will find him.
Check it out.

Oh Jane what a nasty thing to do to your car, only yesterday my SIL was telling me about her friend who is in her late seventies, she had her two front tyres slashed on her car when it was parked outside her house, she uses it every day to visit her husband who is in a care home.

Hope Mandy has some good news for us soon.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Aug 2016 20:52

O jane what a nasty person to do that to your car. Oh said if its a wavey line it is definately a key if it is straiaght then its a trolly. You may get something on the CCTV.
Hope Janice gets some news about her pain tomorrow. I shall be keeping my fingers crossed for her that its nothing too serious.

Hope Colin is recovering from his op and hope Mandy lets us know.

Its been really hot here today but it was lovely in Morrisons till I came out and the heat hit me.

Anne I hope the lady can get new tyres on her insurance. There are some horrid people around nowadays.

Hope Frank is ok as we hav'nt heard from him today.
