Morning all,

Just let Max out for his wee made a nice cup of tea and come back to bed .
Yes Anne Max has missed Colin ,i said to him last night " wheres dad "and he went into the kitchen to the child gate we have so he carn't get through the hall and had a look for him them he came and listened at the back door in case he was outside bless him.

I'm not going to the hospital until this evening when my sister and BIL will pick me up so i can have a day getting a few jobs done , i have some garden bits to go to the tip and a bit of shopping to do and also bedding to be washed .
Oh and Max's bedding too.

Ann i can understand why OH was getting angry with all the waiting for his glasses ,if only they had explained to him in the first place he would have known what was happening , at least it got sorted out in thd end and he was happy with his new glasses .
I had to google the beard as i haven't heard of a "hipster " , they look quite a bushy beard don't they .

Anne i shouldn't think it will be that hot next week so Amy can enjoy her walks out ,did you say you had been that way for a holiday before i carn't remember sorry if you did but it's been quite a busy few days and i have just scimmed over the posts as I've been tired.
Did you say it's friday when you set off ?

Mel i hope all goes well at the dentists today and there's no more mistakes .

Seems so quiet in the house i think it's because Colin has the television on and i don't bother with it during the day but with him not being able to do to much he liked to watch some programmes.

Well better get showered now and start the day .

Lovely morning here, so a bit more washing has gone out before the rain comes!!
Got up at normal time today! Not sure that very early mornings are for us!!
Glad all is well with your hubby Mandy, it'll be nice to have him home!
Not sure I'd be encouraging a hipster beard Ann!! Our sons stepson has one and it does look good, but he's only 20! Think you have to be a bit careful with fashion statements when you get older!!!
Hope your sister is feeling better Jane. Is she on medication for her back/tummy pain?
Must order our pills! It's so brilliant to be able to do all that sort of thing on line these days. Saves so much time and trouble!! I'm seriously thinking about doing our Waitrose/Sainsbury shop on line. Daughter swears by it so I must look into it!
Hope everyone has a nice day.

Morning all,

I had a call from the dentist this morning.......................................canceling my appointment as the dentist has had a bereavement in the family. They have put me off till next Tuesday at 6.05pm. I don't think I am ever going to have teeth that fit.

Mandy I know what you mean about the house being quiet without the men. Mine too likes the telly on all the time if he is watching it or not. It must be something to do with being around a load of men for most of his life at the firestation.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Aug 2016 11:57

Liz I ordered our pills this morning and the girl there told me I could order them online but then I still have to remember to do it so she said when I pick the pills up they will tick the boxes so they will be ready to pick up the following month without having to do it online either. So when I get to my last pills the new lot should in theory be waiting for me to pick them up. We will see....

magpie Report 18 Aug 2016 11:57

Oh dear Mel, what a nuisance! Let's hope you get them fixed properly this time.
We put a reminder about the pills on both our computer's so it just bobs up and one of us does it. You can't do it twice as they come up as already ordered so it's pretty fail safe!
Luckily neither of us can stand the telly on in the day unless there's something we ready want to watch! We watch the news at lunch but it soon goes off!! We've got head phones which one of us can use if needs must!! They're a godsend on occasions like the boring old cricket or motor racing which OH loves, and I don't!! We both read a lot listen to Radio 4, and listen to music, again head phones can be useful!!! Not forgetting Merlin and Cas who take up quite a bit of time for us both!!
This evening we've got to tackle a wasps nest. We've bought some special spray which should do the trick!

MillymollyAmanda Report 18 Aug 2016 14:02

Oh dear Mell your not meant to get your teeth sorted are you , i hope when you do get there they can be sorted out so you don't need to go again.

When i pick our tablets up from boots they always ask if i reorder or they do ,i like to do it as some of the tablets last longer than others depending how many you are issued with on the prescription, i could be backwards and forwards to boots otherwise.

Colin rang first thing he had a very good nights sleep from ten last night right through to about four this morning , the only trouble was he said he felt so stiff when he woke up ,i suppose laying in one position all night didn't help.
He rang again to say the catheter was now out and he had walked with the frame round the ward .
The line in his back should be out this afternoon so he will be happy as he keeps catching it on his top .

Max is out for the count after another walk and i have a pile of ironing to tackle .

OH and I are trying to have a snooze outside and Cas is trying to persuade us to play with her ring!! We're ignoring her so she's running round with it on her head!! She does make us laugh!! I can't think where she gets her energy from! Must get this washing in and get it put away!

Jane

Jane Report 18 Aug 2016 17:08

Afternoon All
Another very hot day here.Rain tomorrow .The garden will lap that up :-D

Just had my hair cut and been to the Body Repair place about the key scratch on my car.It will cost £250 plus VAT. As the excess is £250 it isn't worth using the insurance.I didn't rtealise our excess was that much :-S

Cas is funny with that ring Liz :-D :-D.Do you have a spare one .I always had a spare toy Pheasant for Chester in case he demolished one.

Oh Mel what a disappointment for you today re your teeth.I bet you had geared yourself up for going too.

My Sister now has to get full bloods done on Tuesday and an Urgent CT Scan on her Kidneys and Urinary Tract. Even though nothing with kidneys showed up on the Ultra Sound her GP thinks that what ever is causing this pain is related to somewhere in that area. I think Janice will probably have an injection of dye before the Scan.Even anUrgent Referral for a scan could take a few weeks :-S :-S

I have to go and get changed and put something cooler on.I feel like I am melting.

Jane

Jane Report 18 Aug 2016 17:18

Mandy that is good OH is up and walking with the frame already. He is most likely stiff from all the pulling around that would have been done during the op.Also as you say maybe from lying in the one position .He will be looking forwrd to seeing you this evening :-D..Poor Max looking for Dad !!.He must think it odd he isn't around.

magpie

magpie Report 18 Aug 2016 18:12

Yes Jane, we've got a much smaller one made of the same indestructible material, that she has in the house! she runs up and down the passageway with it on he nose!!! she also loves her soft toys and bangs them on the floor till the poor things are virtually pulped!! She's never touched the furniture though, unlike our red setter/golden lab that we once had! She was a terror for chair legs!!!
We've been busy bees this evening cooking and freezing corgette, more tomatoes, and freezing some mulberries that some one gave us! I think they'll be turned into jam eventually!
Your poor sister Jane, I just hope that she gets an appointment soon and whatever it is causing the problem can be run to earth and dealt with.
OH has just said supper is ready!!

David Report 18 Aug 2016 18:18

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Aug 2016 18:33

Good news from Colin though Mandy and it will be nice for you to see him tonight. As the others have said he is probably stiff from laying in one position all the time. How nice that he had a walk around the ward with the frame. That should losen things up a bit.

I have been to Holsworthy this afternoon as the shop rang to say they had my bras in. When I got there they were not the ones I ordered and one of the white ones looked like it had been wore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was all yellowish on the inside of the straps. They were not my kind of bra anyway, too old looking if you know what I mean. I know I am now an old lady but I refuse to wear bras that are not pretty if you know what I mean. The third one was an underwired one and it fitted ok and the wires did'nt dig in under my arms like they sometimes do so I bought that one and its all lacy and black.

The other thing I meant to say this morning was that oh saw the deer this morning early eating the leaves off my runners. When I went down a bit later it had bitten off about 10 beans and all the flowers of what it coudl reach. It is all getting a bit much now. I can't have a decent border or my few veg grown in tubs away from the rabbit and now the deer too. Also I just went down to the banties and its eaten all the flowers off my little begonia in front of my shed.

Oh and I are going to try and fix some of my chicken netting around that area in a minuet. I seem to have lost heart now what with the toms the only thing in the way of veg I have is a pot of lettuce to pick leaves from and my short beans in pots on the decking. Thank goodness They are safe behind fencing and a gate with the big pond in front.

So all in all I have had a crap day........... :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

Jane

Jane Report 18 Aug 2016 18:36

Liz I have never thought of freezing Courgettes.Do they not go soggy when defrosted?.We haven't grown them this year.

David i decided it was probably not worth asking Tesco to look at CCTV as the position my car and the one next to me weren't in the best place for Number plates to been seen.I am still pretty sure though it must have been the young chap I parked next to :-| :-| Nowt I can about it really other than cough up to have the scratch/gouge fixed :-S

Liz the GP said to Janice if her pain should change at all and get any worse then she must go straight back to him.I have had strong words with her to make sure she does what she is told.I know what she is like lol. That is big Sister talking :-D :-D

magpie

magpie Report 18 Aug 2016 18:57

I just heat the frozen corgettes in the microwave Jane and they're fine. I put them in stews or curries in the winter as well, which works well. I'm glad you're being a bit firm with your sister!! Hopefully she won't have to wait too long for a diagnosis.
Oh dear Mel, what a shame about your veg, what with that, your teeth and your bra's, I can see you haven't had a very good day :-( I hope you told the shop what you thought of their service!!!

Jane

Jane Report 18 Aug 2016 19:04

Oh Mel.I don't suppose there is any way of stopping the Deer getting into your garden. It must be very disheartening to see your Runner Beans being got at.

At least you got one nice lacy black bra ;-)..Does OH like it? I tried another underwired one the other week and thought it was going ot be ok but in the end it did dig into me under the arms.So that one will be going in th charity bin. I have decided just to stick to non wired now.
This must have been the worst year for Deer eating everything in your garden. When I think of all the things you used to grow in the 'tunnel' It must feel a bit sad just to have a bit of Lettuce and some short beans :-(
I keep hearing a Muntjac Deer in next doors garden.

We had the Red Arrows fly right over our house yesterday. The noise!!!! They were flying really low. Thomas appeared shortly after. He must been scared. It scared me !!!!!

magpie Report 18 Aug 2016 19:39

Steam train in half an hour Mel, that should cheer you up!!

magpie

magpie Report 18 Aug 2016 21:13

Well the trains were fascinating, just amazing how the railways opened up the whole country. Just off out to deal with these wasps!!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Aug 2016 21:41

Good luck with the wasp kiling Liz. We hav'nt had that many around here this year. We sometimes get a couple of swarms under the eves of the bungalow and I buy the wasp nest killer and oh sprays that all up there and that usually works. I did find about five large wasps early in the year and oh said they were queens so by killing those perhaps it did good and thats why we hav'nt been plagued this year.

I have just gone down to the banties where my two tubs of beans are and put fleece around both lots but I shall have to take it off in the moorning and put it back tomorrow night. The plants are really loaded with flowers and beens. I think I told you oh made me a big tall ring out of sheep wire and I have them growing in half an orange juice tub we used to have the gunnera in. I have trainer them round and round and then up a wire and so on so they are looking really good. The deer must have thought so too.

Liz I love that pic of Cas you have put up.
