Thanks Mel! She's the best looking person in this bungalow, so she has the place of honour!! Well those wasps have been well and truly zapped, so let's hope it does the trick. We're now in bed watching wild Alaska!

Afternoon All
Mel I am not quite how to read your post. If I am reading it correctly then I am very sorry to see that the has been sad news. :-( <3
Miserable old day today. Not heavy rain though. What we have had won't have even touched the garden.
When I went up the road this morning in the car the hedge on the side of the road just before the traffic lights was well alight !!!.The fire has totally burned the fence behind which is someones garden fence. I wonder if someone had chucked a cigarette end out of a car window . The fire brigade arrived just as I went past.
I think I am going to have a bit of a read and a cuppa now.I feel parched.

Like Jane I wasn't sure how to read your post Mel, but I think you've said you've had sad news, and I'm sorry about that too. Very wet here this morning, but now just windy and sunny. OH is busy with his sawmill cutting up boards for various repairs to the barn while I've pulled the lettuce that have bolted!! ready to plant out some leeks - it's never ending!! Heard from SIL this morning, they're not having much luck with their house sale also their remaining dog (aged 13) is a bit on its last legs! What with that and her hubby's heart problem she sounded quite a bit down, so I emailed her back trying to sound positive! Heaven's Jane, it all happens round you!!!!! Time for a cuppa and a piece of cake!!

Mel are you ok?
Liz,I am sorry your SIL is sounding very down.It sounds as though she has a fair few things to worry about .
Liz the flames were really quite high from that hedge fire.It just seemed a very odd place for a fire to start. At least it looked like it was only the hedge and fencing that was involved and no-one hurt.
The breeze seems to be picking up a bit here now and it is really dark. The sun showed its face for about 5 minutes.Thomas has been and out all day .I think with the rain he has just been mooching about in the big hedge. He has gone off somewhere now thank goodness as he was driving me nuts with all his meowing at me.I don't know what he was wanting as he had a dish full of food down and some cat milk.
I feel sorry for Fitz and his OH at the moment as they have had a horde of family arrive today.I'm not sure how many but is usually about 10 plus !!!. There are 3 children.10 yr twin boys and a girl of about 7.They won't be able to play outside in this weather and I know that the plans were to have a big BBQ tomorrow with even more family. It is Georgettes Nieces 40th so meant to be a big party.Fitz was busy this morning blowing balloons and hanging banners etc.He came up for some Blu tack to stick everything on the walls. One good thing is that the house is big enough for the children still to be able to burn off some energy.
It looks like the weather is going to be back to hot next week. Now I will be glad about that as Rachels boys will be able to be out in the garden. Living in Cape Town they spend all the time outdoors and apparently hate being cooped up. We have no kids toys here. But we do have a croquet set,Old fashioned Hoopla(rope hoops and wooden stand)and I bought a set of Velcro Bats with small ball .Through the ball and catch it on the velcro bat :-).So hopefully the ball won't get lost in the big hedge lol.I think it looks like it may be about 25 degs on Tuesday when they should be here.I still don't know what the plans are as to where they are staying. Rachel was very understanding when I explained that we just didn't have beds for them all.
I have just cooked a small Gammon Joint with Honey (in foil ) and the honey has bubbled up and gone over the sides of the foil :-S. Making a mess on the bottom of the oven so double :-S :-S
No Frank yesterday or today.Still no Liz and no Mandy yet.Hopefully Mandy's Colin is good and almost ready to go home.

Yes, my poor SIL as got quite a few things on her plate! They're really upset at having to sell their french home(so are we!!) It's so pretty, right in the countryside but near a small quaint town which has a fabulous market each week. They spend a lot of time outside as SIL's OH has created a lovely shady spot in their garden, with table and chairs and a big sunshade where they can sit and have meals, as it does get very hot!!! We had hoped to go out this October for a few days, but they're coming back to England in Sept for hospital appointments, so we'll have to think of something else!! Not sure that I envy Fitz! Hope the weather is reasonably ok! Next week should be good though for your visitors Jane, as you say, they can be in the garden!!!!

Evening all,
Raining here ,when we left the hospital this afternoon it came down really hard flooding the road in places ,suns trying to shine now.
Mel sorry to hear you have had some sad news, hope you are ok.
Well Colin is doing really well he has walked out of the ward into the corridor and back with his frame and round the ward with his crutches, he just has the stairs to try and if that goes well he should be home tomorrow
I think we are going to bring a bed down stairs for him just until he feels stronger and it will put my mind at rest knowing he doesn't have to do the stairs yet , he can then try the stairs when he feels ready.
Max is being a little so and so today chewing at the chairs and any thing he can get his teeth into ,he's jolly hard work at times !!!
No Frank ? I hope he's ok.

Mandy, Cas has been pretty lively and still is at times, we seemed to be for ever taking her out or playing with her! She is quieter now she's older but she still needs a lot of exercise, and discipline. As you say it is hard work at times and we are both pretty strict with her especially OH!! This year she should be able to pick up on the shoot, so she'll have to be obedient!! We're watching a wild life prog. again!!

A bed downstairs sounds a good idea for OH for a while Mandy. You have a loo downstairs too which is ideal. A week or so with a few stripped washes will be fine. You could always hose him down in the garden LOL He sounds like he is doing really well :-D
Chris has had a cob on tonight and gone to bed in a bit of a strop .I can't be doing with that nonsense ....Now Thomas is on a 'HIGH' and creating Merry Hell. Attacking my feet under the table :-S :-S.It is all playful stuff but the tops of my feet are beginning to look a bit shredded :-S. Got a plaster on my hand too. He needs de clawing LOL
I am off to bed shortly so will say Night Night now. Hope our Frank is ok <3

Morning all,
Just had my cuppa in bed ,it doesn't look to bad out today the sun is shining at the moment but i think we could have rain later with thunder .
Yes we have the loo and wet room down stairs which is good but Colin won't be able to have a shower until he has his staples out they told him he must have strip washes until then.
I hope Max is in a better mind today ,he was trying to chew all sorts , it was so wet yesterday he only had one walk and not so many plays out in the garden. I had had enough of him i can tell you ,i was in bed by half past nine last night .
Don't know whats happening with Colin today , i don't know if he tried to do stairs yesterday i never heard from him last night ,i will have to wait for him to ring me this morning to see if he can come home, it is so tiring backwards and forwards to the hospital each day so it will be nice to have him home.

Morning Mandy and All
Lets hope that Max got his naughtiness out of the way yesterday and will be a good boy today. (might be wishful thinking :-) ) When Chester was a pup he often had me in tears with all his sheenanigans ,and not tears of laughter either. He was a right little heller at times.
I have been awake for ages. Let Thomas out about 6.30 and have had 2 cups.I have been sat in bed catching up on the Mens Diving from last night on the laptop.
Thomas is back in(as it's raining).I'm not sure how bad this wind is goingto be today.I have a feeling there is a Yellow warning. But it's not too bad just yet.
Fingers crossed Colin can come home today Mandy. How far do you have to go each time to the hospital?
I can see the post lady just coming down the drive with a package so the door bell will ring any second.

Morning Mandy, and others Good way to start the day I'm not fully alive until I've had a cuppa or two Used to have a Teasmade, but it seems to have walked
What a pity Jane has been unable to identify the so and so who keyed her car. £250 a lot of money I'm sure she would rather spend on something else

Morning everyone,
Gosh you lot are early birds this morning.
It quite windy here today and we have had a lot of violent gusts. The deer is laying by the west wall with its back to us. Oh said it had been there since early this morning. It must feel very at home here to lay with its back towards us. I'll give it at home here if it eats anymore of my plants.
I do hope Colins is aloud home today Mandy and then you won't have those journeys to do each day. Its such a tie when you have to get ready for a trip each day. I bet Colin can't wait to get home either. What are the meals like in the hospital? Has he said?

Windy old morning here but the sun is sort of out!! It rained like mad in the night so at least no watering!! Cas has been for her morning walk with OH and is now in her cage for a couple of hours, or more!! Jane I remember our Red Stetter/Lab was very lively!! She was a rescue, and a lovely girl, but full of energy! We were a lot younger then and our two were children, so they played with her a lot! Sadly she had a, problem with her spinal column and had be put to sleep aged, we think, about three :-( We were all devastated, and still remember her with a lot of affection. Hope your OH is allowed home today Mandy. When OH was in hospital after his op, I was thankful when he came home as it was a 56 mile round trip and as he had to stay in for an extra few days, it did get a bit wearing!! Luckily having worked in social care for years I was well versed with catheter bags and other aspects of care, so at least that wasn't a problem when he finally came home.. Nothing much doing here today, maybe plant those leeks! OH is making a start on the hay barn, the polythene needs replacing with decent boards!!

Afternoon all, I haven't read any posts, and am not in the mood for chatting. Still not getting along very well with my exercises, they are putting me in so much pain, and have not had a good nights sleep yet.
This morning Ros bought me a COT in the bedroom. She didn't notice I had my left leg hanging out of bed, and walked straight into it. I thought my knee was coming out of my backside!!!!. She hit it with such force., I know it was an accident, and there's not a lot of room between the bed and walled robe, but it didn't stop it hurting. :-| :-| :-| The pain killers I am on are making me very constipated which isn't helping.
Sorry I am a miserable old codger, but I hope to get better as he pain subsides.
Take care of yourselves. I will speak soon.

O dear poor you Frank but is'nt it just the thing that if you have a sore patch thats the bit you are going to bang or get banged. Same with that stubbed toe I had the other day. Did'nt matter how carefull I was I still kept knocking it on things.
Its been raining here most of the day some light and then stairods and the wind is still very high and the skies grey.
We won't be having the dog show on our field anymore as someone has put in a claim to the village hall for falling on their ground. If we insured the field for the day someone could still claim from us so that has put paid to the show which has been on our field for the many years it has been held here.
Funny how someone who has only lived here for 8 years can cause such trouble to the whole community.

Mel, There is always someone who will spoil the fun for many. How the hell can she claim for falling over ?? Clumsy COW. !!! The village hall didn't make her fall over !!! Had she been drinking ??
Been spoilt today. Ros bought home a dressed CRAB for my lunch, and a BIG SKATE WING for dinner tonight.
Carolyn has invited us to lunch tomorrow for about 2.00 pm. It will be nice for Ros not having to cook.
