We've been freezing more plums and tomatoes today!! This lot will be the end of the plums is no more room in the freezer. The rest we shall just pick and stew as we feel. Thunder here and a bit of lightening. I think it's about to pour with rain!!! Cas an I are sitting outside, but not for much longer!! She's not at all worried by the noise, one of our dogs years ago couldn't bear thunder and used to hide, and put her paws over her ears!!!! We're having real cloud burst here , so no watering this evening!! I haven't anything at all these days that I could put in a boil wash Mel, not one thing!! I never wash anything any hotter than 40°, mostly 30! even the label on the towels recommend 40! I don't think I'd want the machine on for that length of time any more. I think you need to have your toe looked at Frank as I think they do still strap them so that they heal properly. Now, for those beetroot!!! :

Well, I was just about to set off and the heavens have opened and rain is lashing down so I'm hanging on a few minutes!!
I used to do beetroot in my pressure cooker Liz and have tried it just for one beetroot in the microwave too. I occasionally do a 60 degree wash for bedding and underwear, but just use that laundry stuff that kills bacteria otherwise.
Oh oh, rain has slowed so I'm scarpering quick!

Beetroot have cooked a treat!! Must let them cool down before bottling them! I quite often put a capful dettol in with my wash Ann particularly with underclothes, which takes care of any nasties!! The storm has passed and its sunnyish here now. Glad your stings are feeling better.

Afternoon all,
Its been nice and sunny here all morning bit muggy but we have just heard thunder in the distance ,i think we should get rain later.
Ann i'm glad you managed to get a good nights sleep with all those stings ,i bet your clothes irritate them .
Frank i would get your toe looked at in case you have disjointed it , it will be painful when you need to get a shoe on if its sticking up . I bet you were relieved when puss turned up ,i wonder how long she had been out .
Tuesday when the dog trainer comes Jane , the last few days Max has been much better i think it unsettled him when Colin went into hospital. Do you feel better today ? I expect it was the heat ,you were out in the garden quite a bit with your company and the little ones can tire you out to i know when my lot come they keep you on your toes .

Toe no better, throbbing like mad. I am having a job to put any weight on it, so not a "HAPPY BUNNY" having to walk on my heel on my right leg, and shuffle along on my left.
We have had Thunder and Lighting with very heavy rain. Poor CAT is trying to hide under anything when the Thunder rumbles. ;-) ;-)
It's like Christmas here, when they turned up an hour or so ago, Ros got out presents for Alexander to unwrap. He loved the box's more than the contents. lol. Ella was so excited by the things Ros bought her. She even bought presents for Jan and Conrad. <3 <3 <3
Looking out on the garden, it's as black as your hat, and the rain is bouncing off the patio. So much for a late SUMMER.

Frank you really need to get that toe looked at if you feel that you have broken it, particularly bearing in mind your recent op! You could land up with a real mobility problem if it gets left, also how on earth are you going to do your exercises? We're back outside again, OH is in our paddock with Cas picking hazel nuts! Not sure if he plans to roast them!! Cold meat and salad with chips tonight! Easy!!!

The Village Show was quite interesting and I was chatting to one lady who's Victoria Sponge cake didn't win and she told me she would be taking it to a church do on Sunday for them to eat. I'm not sure I would fancy that after umpteen people had been walking by and leaning over it talking with bits of spit escaping to who knows where! For the same reason I will never buy uncovered cakes next to where people queue in shops......all that coughing and sneezing too.....yuk!! :-0 The different flower arrangements were beautiful, I love the miniature arrangements and the flower heads floating on water. The children had done some imaginative things with animals made from vegetables and tiny gardens in a seed tray. I would have loved making those as a child. On the way back it was thundering and lightning and the roads were flooded right across in places and it is still pouring with rain. I expect OH will be like a drowned rat when he gets home!
Liz, I must freeze some of our tomatoes as we have bowlfuls in the kitchen! I think stewed plums with custard were a favourite with me as a child.
A COT and then sort some of this paperwork next I think!
Where is Gill? it seems ages since we heard from her.

Frank.I think we will all be ganging up on you to get that toe looked at !!!!!!!!!. I know it is a right faff going t oA&E but as Liz says you really need to keep mobile and not have to hobble any more than needed. You don't want to jeopardise any progress you have made since your op. Liz your Cabin must smell wonderfu with all the cooking of the Plums and Tomatoesl :-D
We have had thunder and lightening going on for a few hours now and with some torrential rain.It does look like it might be possibly clearing a bit now as it is a lot lighter. It was like the middle of the night.Luckily Thomas must have guessed it was on the way so he has been in since it started. Chris says that I have been taking too many Ibuprofen (for my hip) and that it has irritated my gut/Stomach.I have been not stop burping :-S and have that horrible pain in the bottom of my sternum.I got some anti indigestion tabs this morning and I think they are helping.I am sipping a nice hot Mint Tea at the moment as I thought might be a good idea.
Mandy I am pleased for you that Max has been a bit more settled since Colin came home.Does max take more notice of him when he is told off for something rather than when you do?
Hannah is down on the farm today lol Her new chap Gareth's parents have 50 or so Cows that they keep on a friends farm just outside of Cheltenham. I'm not quite sure how she feels about that.I can't really picture mucking about in a field full of cows and cow pats.No doubt I will hear all about it :-D
I expect Anne might be home now from her week away with the family.
12 stings Ann !!!..They really did go for you didn't they :-(

Camomile tea is supposed to be very soothing too Jane. I drink it sometimes, but it has got an acquired flavour!! We drink Lapsang as a rule which is lovely (again an acquired flavour!) I was told by my last GP not to be too heavy handed with ibuprofen! as it can cause tummy upsets and too much doesn't do your BP much good if you suffer from Hypertension! OH has got a carrier bag half full of these nuts!!! They will have to be cracked open, not sure what's happening after that!!! Poor old Merlin needs his dinner! Tomorrow we plan to take him out! Hope Hannah had some wellies?!!

I remember taking too many Ibru and I had a funny pain in the tum and spent the day in bed. I now have Omeprazole to take if I have to take heavy pain killers. Oh has them for bad indigestion and when I was getting it I started taking them everyday and I hav'nt had it since. I only have the 10grm oh has 20.
We have had a very hot and sunny day today but its clouded over a bit now soI hope you hav'nt sent us your thunder and rain.
Frank we are all ganging up on you to get htat toe looked at by someone. I left mine when I did it and had to go to hosp and have it xrayed about a year later and they said they could operate on it and make it stiff all the time. I said no thanks I will put up with it as I can wear a tiny heel with it as it is but not a high heel.
Been busy in that kitchen then again Liz with all your prduce. Jane I did see gardeners world with the trials at Rosemoor and thats just what my tom plants looked like but they had produced no fruit to speak of at all. I even told oh to burn the canes I had them growing up. I shall buy some new ones next year.
Popped into Em's next door after she rang me for another 2 doz. eggs. I was pleased because they were building up again. The boys had their cousin there, Em's sisters youngest, and they were making a camp in the bushes in the garden. They had already made a teepee on the lawn and very good it was too. Ed had rigged up a rope walk between two big trees about a foot off the ground with another rope higher up for them to hold on to. I had to creep through the low bushes to where they were playing and building a camp. It was so nice to see children doing the kind of things that we did as kids and not just sitting indoors. Little Sam's arm is healing nicely after a nasty break high up on his left. Just a sling no plaster but he says it still hurts. George told me he can hold it out straight now when he gets it washed in the bath. George is just 7 and Sam is 3 or 4 I think and very small compared to George who is in 10 year old clothes. Em asked me if I could babysit them when she goes to a wedding in September as all the family are going and there's nobody to sit them. They are only going in the evening and Emm will put them to bed before I get there. Do you know I think this will be the first time I have ever done it!!
Thank goodness you found the cat Frank. Does it ever go out when its at home or is it just an indoor cat?
Hope the birthday boy had a lovely time.

Good evening all
We arrived back yesterday after a lovely week, the house was beautiful and although old was modern inside and very comfortable. The present owners are Swedish and quite young with 2 young sons. We went to Canterbury and visited the Cathedral, Paul and the girls looked after Amy while Richard and I went in, We also went to Whitstable, Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate. Sunday we went to Littlestone to see Matt my nephew who is manager of the life boat crew and their open day, they managed to raise £4000.00 the barbecue alone took £1000.00.
I hope to read all the posts later but hope everyone is o.k, it's been very hot here today and Kent was even hotter

Very helpful and understanding The long and short of it ,it is a gout attach. they have given us a scrip that Ros will take to the duty chemist in the morning. Couldn't do it tonight as Jan and Conrad were here.
Talk more in the morning.

I used to find Ibuprofen to be good for my knees and back when they played up Jane. I always had them with food but even then sometimes my tummy would be a bit upset. No problem now though as the doctor said paracetomol only with my beta blocker!
It's a good job we didn't go to the County Show after all as it was abandoned because of the heavy rain!!
It's good Max has been a bit better Mandy. He must have been affected by the comings and goings and Colin not being there for a while as you say.
I couldn't believe it tonight.........OH wants to go and see an open garden tomorrow.............where they keep BEES!!!!!

Oooh Frank, I know all about gout in a toe........it's AGONY!! I couldn't even bear the bed clothing on my foot when I had it. The tablets I had eased it after a few days so hopefully you will soon be rid of the pain. I know exactly what you mean now about thinking you may have broken it. I was convinced mine was dislocated and didn't really believe the doctor till it got better!

Afternoon all,
Bit cloudy here first thing and looked like rain but the sun has broken through the cloud now and it's lovely out. We have had a full house this morning ,family came first thing and no sooner had they gone when my sister and BIL turned up.
I'm glad you got the toe looked at Frank but poor you with gout no wonder you had so much pain , hopefully the tablets will soon sort it and you'll be in less pain.
Oh no Ann fancy OH picking a garden with Bees , i can see you giving them a wide berth !! Hope the pain from your stings has eased a little now.
Glad you enjoyed your holiday Anne it sounds as if you had a good few days out and about . What a nice lot of money raised for the life boat ,sounds as if the Barbeque was very popular.
Not another kettle given up on you Jane , we only bought a new one a couple of weeks ago too , we have such hard water here they soon get scaled up even though i use white vinegar to descale it .
I wonder if Gill will soon be back with us ,she said she should be with her new supplier at the end of this month , seems ages since we last heard from her.
I think i read that Ancestry is free again over this weekend , might just have a look .
