Anne that was a fantastic amount of money raised for the LifeBoat .I always think the Life Boat rescue is often forgotten about and yet it is such a vital service.
Mandy I think this is kettle number 3 so far this year :-S.... Mel I don't have a spare iron .But it might be a good idea for me to buy another one as I am sure the one I use now will give up before too long. It is the hard water like Mandy has that causes all the trouble. We are in a very hard water area.If I don't wash out Thomas's water bowl properly you can soon see the scale building up around the water mark.
I think my ancestry subs has just been renewed today .I better tell Chris as he will see it on the bank statement ! :-S
Hannah and Gareth are on their way back to London now after spending the last couple of days with Gareth's Dad's cows and calves.Gareth would have been in his element but poor Hannah I think has spent the time freaking out.But trying to appear brave lol.
David FB is a mystery to me sometimes.I never post anything on my personal FB page but just 'like' and occasionally add a comment to things I see posted by FB friends and sometimes other things I find interesting or funny. If you want to share something on FB I think there is a thing you can click to share with either 'FRIENDS' or 'WORLDWISE'...Best to just share things with friends :-D
Antiques Roadshow tonight comes from Tewkesbury Abbey. I am hoping I might see my Sister and her Daughter :-D :-D

Jane, forgive me but why would spending time on a farm make Hannah freak out?!! Most farms are wonderful places to visit for relaxation or better still to live!! We've spent the day at Westonbirt helping with the tree feast. Amazing number of visitors, and all sorts of wood turning, and tree conservation processes etc, really interesting. Cas attracted a lot of a admirers!! My iron doesn't get much use so I've had it for ages, but our kettle is about seven years old and still going strong! I do descale it regularly though. We're now contemplating supper, then an early night!!

Liz,it is the close contact with Cows that Hannah isn't comfortable with. She loves them from afar but not quite in touching reach .I have to say I am the same with Cows and there is no way I could walk through a field with Cows in.I think they are the most beautiful creatures though.I am happy to talk to them when they come up to a fence if I am walking by.They are so inquisitive :-D
Liz I will send an email shortly :-D

Oh I see. I thought it was the farm itself that was the problem! Sometimes cows can be a bit of a challenge particularly if they have calves or you have a dog with you. It's always best to carry a large stick and shout at them in a gruff voice if they appear threatening. They soon buzz off if you're assertive with them! Nice photos! We're watching Travel Show in India, it's very interesting programme.

Morning all,
A lovely morning here with loads of the yellow stuff, blue skies with the occasional white cloud.
Well we will see how the dog show goes today as they are holding it on the car park which is all gravel. I wonder why some people have to spoil things for others........

Morning all,
We're sitting out having our coffee in the sunshine its a beautiful day , a few clouds about but its nice to have a little shade now and then. Not much happening here today i don't think the family will be coming as they came yesterday . Colin is now going for a little walk along the path ,he's been doing a little walk each day going a little further each time.
What a shame the dog show is limited to the car park ,theres always some one who has to spoil things .

Your right there Mandy. The car park is usually full with cars so I don't know where they are going to park, along the road I suppose but thats not very wide and if a tractor comes through it won't get past.
Pleased to hear Colin is getting along well and enjoyinng his little walks a bit longer each day.
Think I shall put some washing in as its such a nice day.
Frank how are you today? What I meant to ask is, is your toe still sticking up?

Finally I am here. The internet has been soooo slow today I gave up.But it has speeded up now thank goodness.
Colin is doing brilliantly Mandy :-D I hope Franks toe isn't so painful now with the new tablets to help.He must still be having trouble with the computer and waiting for someone(I can't remember whohe said now) to come and sort him out.
It has been a really nice day here and a lovely evening. James is in the kitchen cooking his Steak and Sweet Potato Fries. He is using a very strong smelling rub on the steak so I am staying out of the kitchen for now. It's making my throat all funny. Then when he has cleared up it will be my turn to do our Steaks (plain :-D).I will do Tomatoes and Mushrooms in the oven with chunky chips. Chris has been doing the lawn this afternoon and is now watching Victoria on catchup on his laptop in the study.
My Sister has her CT Scan first thing in the morning.I think she has to allow about 3 hours as she will probably have to have an injection of dye first.I just hope that she doesn't have to wait too long for the results as this pain is really getting her down now. If nothing shows up on this scan then it will be going down another road next :-S I thin kit has been more than 3 weeks now that she has had this pain and uncomfort. It is a good thing that little William is starting school next week.Mornings one week and afternoons the next for the first term.( I think that is what Janice said).I can't wait to see a pic of him in his uniform as he is so small !! and his big afro hair has been done in those corn row things :-S. Personally I think it would look nicer just cut shorter.
William had a very scary thing happen at the Dentist last week (thankfully he doesn't remember anything). He has no enamel on his back teeth( a family thing,Amelia was the same) .Anyway he had to have injections of local anaesthetic and he just went out for the count with eyes rolling back in his head. :-0 :-0 It took a while to get him round. Michel as you can imagine was going spare and said ti the Dentist should they not call for an ambulance. The Dentists reply was "that is your call Mr de Mel" WHAT !!!!! He said himself that the reaction William had was not normal, but to say that to Michel was really not good.I think Michel kicked off big time as another Dentist and other staff arrived to see what all the noise was about. But Michel was so scared with what had happened. Thankfully William came round and was none the worse . Chris has said it might be getting William tested to see if he has the Sickle Cell trait as people with that can react to certain drugs. Williams Mum was Jamaican and I believe that the Sickle Cell thing can be quite prevalent in people from there. I have the feeling that Michel will not be seeing that same Dentist again for William !!!
I am going to have to go outside as the spicy rub thing that James has used on his steak is making my face all sweaty :-S

Oh gosh poor litte William going through that and how frightening for his dad , i don't know much about Sickle cell , i have heard of it but don't know anyone with it .
Jane Joe Wicks has a programme on channel 4 tonight ,you gave me the recipe for that lovely chicken pie from his book , i think he's going to be doing some cooking , might be worth a look.
Every time i help Colin dress i keep getting a whiff of some thing ,he's had lots of washes but i could still smell some thing , we ll it has turned out to be his slippers that pong !! So they have gone in the wash , i wonder if some thing was splashed on them in hospital :-S

Oh Mandy stinky slippers :-S.. Might it be a bit of wee that was spilt when emptying the catheter bag?. Did you do that Chicken Pie? Funny you mention that as James has just said it would be nice ot have again soon. I 'm not keen on Joe Wicks .I find him a bit too full on .But `I have done a few recipes now from his book.
Hannah just rang. She said that she doesn't think she will ever feel totally comfortable surrounded by cows LOL ,but that it was a very interesting time. She didn't like it when Lottie the cow licked her. They were moving some calves and mums to another field ,and then yesterday they had to bring a cow in to some building as she had an eye infection and needed eye drops . She said she spent a lot of time sitting on the Quad bike while Gareth ,his Sister ,Dad and Mum dealt with all the cows :-D.There was also a Bull :-S
Mel have you heard how the Dog Show went?
I watched Antiques Roadshow last night and spotted Janice's daughter and her little French Bulldog Bentley in one of the queues :-)

Jane arn't you watching Victoria?? I shall watch it later with Ripper Street or oone or the other.
Dentist for me tomorrow. Probably a fitting of the wax ones before they make the real ones. I hope this set is ok as I can't be bothered to go through this again.

Morning All,
Good luck at the dentist Mel, hope they are doing a good job for you this time. You've had a right time of it with them.
We're watching Victoria, but last night's is still to watch as we recorded it. We watched Joe Wick too. I know what you mean Jane about him being a bit too full on, but his recipes look good.......I wouldn't be putting in all those pinches of salt though.
What a fright for Michel with William at the dentist. The dentist didn't do himself any favours or help the situation reacting as he did. It's a good job he was ok. Hannah's been down on the farm then..........eee.....iiiiii.....eeeee.....iiii......ooooo!!! lol!!! I never minded cows at all as a small child. Mum used to send me to buy milk and eggs from the farm opposite us and I played there for hours and would go and help the farmer get the cows in and watch them being milked. They were gentle black and white ones, probably Friesians. I was more scared of going in the field where their 2 retired Shire horses, Billy and Beauty were. Beauty would gallop about and her big feet made the ground shake!! Nowadays, with imports and cross breeding, many cows don't have such gentle natures so I am quite wary of them. There are a lot of those big Charolais? types around here. Their demeanour seems more suspicious than curious and some are much bolder. We tried waving a stick and shouting at some once that had crowded around a stile we were trying to climb into their field. They jumped back about 10 feet then came straight back to us, pushing at the fence and stile with their bodies. We couldn't get them to move whatever we did so turned back in the end. They have the old english Longhorns loose at a country park near here. Their horns look formidable, yet they look so gentle and unconcerned and must be safe or they wouldn't be in a public park!
It sounds like you had a lovely break Anne and found lots to do! I expect you have caught up with the washing and ironing by now!
That's great that Colin is doing so well Mandy and you must both be pleased. It does sound like his slippers were the victims of an 'accident' somehow, but they will be fresh again after being in the washing machine.
My stings (final count 19!) are driving me mad with itching! The redness around them has spread even bigger and those red areas are all covered in raised blisters too now. Unless I am really chilly, like in the car with the aircon really cold, they itch! I'm off to the chemist next for some calamine lotion to see if that helps. I said to OH yesterday that I feel like a mangy old mutt with all this itching. We didn't go to the garden with bees in the end. OH thought we had been there last year, so that saved me telling him I wasn't going!!! Instead we travelled south to a garden centre we hadn't been to before. They had some different things including some nice pots. It was a year yesterday since MIL died and we were both saying how quickly the year had passed, yet it seems ages now since we were visiting them in their house.
OH has gone for an interview now at one of the councils. His stint with them as an Independent Person is up so he has to reapply along with any other applicants. I'd forgotten how smart he looks when suited and booted and yes, he wore a tie.
I hope your gout is easing Frank. Till then you won't be able to do much.

Frank I have pm'd you.
Well the dentist took more impression today after having a fitting with some wax mock ups and tested the bite and a lot more than Melissa did so lets hope they are right this time. I was in there quite a while but I did'nt mind as I had put 2 hours on the parking meter.. Then I went into the town and got myself a new watch strap but the lady in the shop could'nt fit it so I brought it home to do myself. She said the lady who does it would be back before lunch but I could'nt wait. I also changed a solar light bulb I bought there a couple of weeks ago which only worked for a few days.
Then I did Lidl and bought what I wanted in there. Got the first Christmas present for oh in there and remember putting in the car but now I have unpacked I can't find it!!!!!!!!I am wondering if I put it back in the basket to hide it and took the basket back with it still in there. It cost me a tenner.
After that I went on to Bideford to Morrisons and did the rest of the shopping I can't get in Lidl so now I am whacked out.
Curry for him tonight and I shall have eggs somehow.
