I thought it might be coming your way Mandy :-S.It is horrible here still.Thomas has been sat at the back door looking out with a very long face LOL .Decided it was not for him so he has just used his tray :-)
i have just made the Joe's Chicken Pie.Well say made I just have to wait for the filo pastry to get room temp before I put it on top.I'll have our Runner Beans,Dwarf Beans and Tarragon Carrots to go with it. I need to pick the Tarragon so hope the rain eases off a bit soon.
Chris is looking at maps for walks etc for when we are away.He has found a short one for me on the Coastal Path to a view point.It is 1 mile uphillish there and then the mile back.I just want my hip to be ok for me to do it.Then he has a walk planned for himself(much longer).I will find something to do when he does that one.
I have a cardboard box to start putting bits and bobs in ..loo rolls,tea,coffee,and other essentials.
James has a box too LOL.For his trip to Scotland with Jess.They have a lodge near Dunoon for 4 nights and then I think they might stay in a Hotel for a couple of nights.He couldn't get the lodge for longer than the 4 nights.Our cases are down from the loft now :-)so it is getting closer :-D.I will have to begin planning what clothes to take .(and how many pairs of shoes :-D :-D)... It think it will be one pair of open sandals,one pair of ballet flats and 2 pairs for walking and rain.4 pairs isn't bad for me is it ;-).At least we have the car and we aren't flying so I can really take as much as i fancy :-D :-D.

BIL left about 5.30pm and all that time I was looking at his photos.

Liz oh has just the one brother and did have 5 sister. BIL called in to tell us when the funeral is. He always comes when we are about to eat so I fed him too.

Yes Jane i took him Egg and chips over and last week he had a jacket potato with cheese .
I thought he had found some where else to sleep as a couple of nights last week he wasn't in his usual place in the churchyard but then he appeared again , i think he will have a wet night tonight.
He did tell me that he got a bag of stuff from the food bank but he gave some of it back as he couldn't use some of it , i suppose things that need to be kept in a fridge are no good for him , i thought it was good that he handed some back better than throwing it away when some one else can make use of it.

Mel iam sorry you said you had had sad news but i don't remember you saying what , was it OH's sister that passed or his SIL ?

No Mel I don't think you did mention what your bad news was. I'm sorry that it was a bereavement.
Miserable old day here, played with Cas, OH watched a bit of the motor racing (with the headphones on!!) then we put on macs and wellies and went for a walk! Now it's time for supper and telly!!

It was his sister who passed away and she was 18 months younger than oh.

Could'nt get any fillet steak this week as they had'nt had their deliveries in and it was the day after the bank holiday so I bought a big rib eye and I shall have the end off that. Must get the oven on for his chips and I shall have rosti.

Sorry to hear your news Mel. I too wondered what had happened before. Had she been ill or was it sudden?

That was kind of you taking more food to Nicko Mandy. I wonder what he will do in the really cold weather as it will start getting chilly at night soon. I'm glad Colin is doing so well. It is a long job if he has to be careful putting weight on the leg and use his crutches for such a long time, but worth it for it to heal properly.

Little Freya was good wasn't she Jane. Not many babies are so content away from their familiar surroundings.

Frank it's a shame you had this setback with your knee after getting gout and are in so much pain with it, especially if you can't get a good night's sleep. Just don't try doing too much yet as you can't risk a fall. It sounds like Lollipop is so laid back she cant't be bothered with coming for fuss!!

Gill could you not sell those flags to save breaking them up or do you need them for hardcore? I have broken up old slabs at my previous house and even using a big sledge hammer it was hard work breaking the old thick ones. Be careful and don't overdo it.

It's been sunshine and showers here today for the Victory Show, WW2 re-enactment that's on over the weekend. They have put waiting restrictions in the village where I lived as a teenager this year and opened up an extra entrance at the back of the farm near where my parents house was. It gets a bigger spectacle every year and the noise today was just like war!!!!!

I decided to enter my fishing boat painting and some more photos in the same village show (that was on today) that I entered last year. I nearly didn't bother with all that's been happening with the biopsy and wasp episode, but I'm glad I did now. My boat painting got a third prize and in the photo classes I got a third, two seconds and two firsts!! I also got a certificate and won The Chairman's Cup and had my photo taken with the chairman presenting it to me. There was also a group photo with the other winners which will be in the local magazine. :-D I was quite stunned when they called my name out and all I could think about when having my photo taken was the egg yolk I got on my top this morning and had then forgotten about!!!!!

Mandy Nicko sounds a decent person taking what food he couldn't use or need back.
Bet he loved those Egg and Chips :-D.I hope he has plenty of shelter tonight if it carries on raining.It has eased up a lot here but still a bit coming down. Thomas went out and then 10 minutes later I saw a little face at the Patio Doors LOL

Mel did OH's sister live locally?..I had no idea he had so many Sisters!. She was very young .Were they close?

You are so kind Mandy, giving him egg and chips and keeping an eye on him, I'm sure he's very grateful of your kindness. It's such a shame people end up in these situations, it can't be very pleasant for them. He sounds a very nice man, I wonder what happened to him, he's lucky to have someone like you helping him.

Congratulations Ann, I think your paintings and photo's are top class, you are so clever, well done. I was hoping to get the flags out whole but they were stuck down with concrete so I had no choice but to break them up to get them out, shame really as I could of used them down the bottom of the garden. They were on a slope so had to be taken out so I could match two patio's up together on the same level.

OH has fixed the car. Yes Jane he is a mechanic so it didn't take him long, the rain stopped long enough for him to do it then he went to his mum's to give the car a long run as it was the alternator that had been replaced so a run will have charged the battery up nicely, he took Sandra with him. His mum is going into hospital for an operation on Monday so he wanted to see her before then, I couldn't go with him as someone had to stay with the workman being here.

The fella has just left, he should of had someone helping him but for some reason he came on his own. He's worked so hard all day in the pouring rain, there's only a small amount left to break up then he's going to take all the bits away. He's coming back tomorrow afternoon with a digger so it shouldn't take him to long to finish the job. OH is taking some of the rubble and putting it in a hole he dug to help with a drainage problem we had at the bottom of the garden, we're planning on putting a seating area or maybe the shed there so what ever goes down there won't sink when it rains now. Hope the rain doesn't come back while he's out there working, he'll probably have to finish it off tomorrow as it's starting to get dark now and it's a big hole.

Going to watch Strictly with Sandra now, we couldn't hear the TV properly before because of the sound of the breaker, luckily I recorded it so now it's quiet we'll be able to hear it, then of course Sandra will want to watch her X Factor. I've had to record that too as it was on straight after Strictly. That's probably why OH is moving some rubble, he doesn't like those type of programmes, it sounds like he's a bit like your OH Jane :-)

Oh is out in his filter shed doing whatever he does in there to the filters and I have just got up and am sitting here having my first COT of the day.

Not a lot happening here today ,we nipped out to sons for a coffee and to see the children before they go back to school tomorrow and now Colins waiting for the F1 to start and we will have some lunch.

Harvey and Lewis forgot to take home the cat's feeding dishes, I expect they have plenty with all the other cats (FOUR).

I lain in until 10.00 this morning. I was awake for a long time during the night. So when Ros got up I found a comfortable spot and just laid with my eyes shut.

Ros has said she will take me to the pub for the England match K.O 5.00 pm so we will have a late dinner. It will depend how I feel, as at the moment I have a throbbing KNEE. I am having trouble bending it, the more I try the more it hurts. I think being laid up most of last week with the gout hasn't helped with me doing my exercises.

Jane it was FIVE WEEKS yesterday since I had my operation, where do the weeks go.??

Not been able to get SKYPE. So unable to make contact with Conrad, he will be wondering what's going on. He might give us a ring sometime.

Ros has popped out for a while to look at something with Carolyn (more expense) Not sure where they have gone, but they will turn up when they are ready.

Must keep an eye on the weather, I have just noticed she has a line of washing out. I hope it doesn't rain, as I haven't been down the steps from the conservatory and to the lawn. I think if it rains, it will have to stay there, I dare not risk a fall.

Good idea Frank to stay put, the washing can wait, you don't want to fall and injure yourself. Hope the pain eases so you can watch the match down the pub, it'll do you good to get out after being indoors for so long. Yes five weeks, doesn't time fly?
Our garden is quite big Frank and the patio's I'm doing are mostly out of site around the side of the garden apart from one for the shed and the one I need to do to join two together on the corner of the bungalow where the old garage used to be, part of it is the drive, at the moment there is a massive hole and it leads to our back door so is quite dangerous and needs sorting ASAP. The fella who is breaking up our garage base came earlier and finished breaking it up, he's had to take the breaker back to his mates but should be back soon to clear away all the mess, then he said he would cut me a few flags ready for me to lay them tomorrow, if the weather's nice.

Today started off sunny but we've just had a shower of rain, it's dry at the moment but who knows what the rest of the day will bring.

I assume you mean my sewing machine Mel? No I haven't used it much as it's in a wardrobe that I can't get to at the moment. OH has got all his tools in boxes in that room, which is where they will stay until we get a shed to put them in. I would like to go back to my sewing and will probably do so once the garden is finished and I'm not so busy.

OH has had to nip out so I'm recording the F1 race so I will watch it with him when he gets back.

I am all behind this morning.I got up late and then discovered some old photos so of course I had to go through them again lol Some were snaps of our wedding and to see Chris in them it looks just like I was marrying James LOL The likeness is incredible.

It is very dull and dark here this morning .I almost feel I should put on a light. But I am going ot next in a minute to see if I can find a thinnish jumper to take away.I only have thick ones for winter.I absolutely hate wearing jumpers :-S

Ha Ha ! The post I just put up I wrote much earlier before I went out..But forgot to press the submit button :-S

So I have been out and didn't go to Next after all.I went to Asda and got a couple of jumper type tope there.Not sure about one of them so I think that will be going back.Chris can take me in the morning as I have to drop my car off at 8am to get that scratch fixed. They will have my car for a couple of days.

I can't believe it is 5 weeks Frank since your knee Op !!!!!..I think you are right about not being able to do your exercises last week has not really helped the progress with your leg.
No I can't make any meals up without a recipe Frank.I have to follow every instruction to the T.I think if I was to make up something myself it would be inedible LOL
I have to say though that the Chicken Pie is one of the nicest recipes I have used in a while.The top is Filo Pastry so no fiddling about with rolling pastry.Just screw the filo sheets and plonk them on the top :-D
Tonights dinner is called Goulash in a dash !!. A simple and fairly quick meal to do .I will cut up the Beef,Mushrooms and Potatoes this afternoon .
I think our Runners and Dwarf Beans have just about finished now which is a shame but at least they won't still be growing when we are away and wasted.I know Hannah is going to be here the whole time we are gone but I doubt she would be picking beans anyway.

We haven't heard from Anne for a few days.I hope she isn't poorly.

Still very cloudy here but at least its dry as I have a whole whirly washing line full of towels.

Little Willam starts school tomorrow !!!!!!!.He is very excited :-D
