Jane Report 7 Sep 2016 19:09

Nothing showed up on Janice's wee results. Now she has meds for a possible Hiatus Hernia !!!. 4 weeks of medicine and if nothing improves then she will have the camera down .And so it goes on :-S :-S

Mel it sounds like OH is a stubborn so and so with his Arthritis.Liz is right, there will be some meds that would really help him. Chris is the same really.I think it just MEN !!

James has just arrived so I'll get his dinner in now.He will be starving as normal.

Not sure about that Jane. OH is pretty good about getting medical advice better than me actually!!, hence he went when his prostate played up without being chivvied, Good thing as it was cancer and a delay could have been - difficult!! He went for a colonoscopy last year too without me having to nag! Mind you we had a friend who delayed going and he had a really rough time with prostate cancer.
OH is cooking supper, chicken and mushrooms with fried rice, easy and delicious!

Evening All,

So you are all set and ready for your holiday now then Jane and Thomas is settled at the cattery. As you say there is bags and oodles of room for everything in either of your cars! We always found there was plenty of room in OH's big Citroen in just the boot. Now he has a smaller car we have eventually worked it out to a fine art how to fit everything in without the seat down. It's things like the walking boots that take room up!! We also take less food with us now. I just fill the big cool bag with essentials. We only need a small trolley case each for clothes. Years ago I would take dresses and jackets for going out in, but everything is much more casual these days so I don't bother!! :-) In case you have left before I come on here tomorrow, I hope you have a lovely week in your cosy cottage and find some nice walks and places to eat.

Oh Mel, your OH needs some of those concertina type grabs so he can pick his own shirts up without bending and put them in the bin! lol. I do sympathise with him though as I can't kneel or squat because of my knees and then your back soon hurts when you have to bend all the time instead. Mine's osteoarthritis I think but the only treatments for that that I know of is painkillers, exercises to keep the muscles strong or, as a last resort, replacement knees!! The best thing I could do is lose weight......not so easy to do though. :-S He is naughty leaving them for you though. Like Liz, I would leave them!! Both my hubbies knew that if it wasn't in the bin it wouldn't get washed and if it stayed on the floor, the floor wouldn't get cleaned! OH is very good, being tidy by nature anyway, but can he remember where each type of towel goes when he puts them away after they've been washed?? You've seen that advert where a dog owner is 'nose blind?' I told him the other day he is 'cupboard and drawer blind' as he never knows where things go, nor can he find anything he wants in them!! lol.

I hope you found Cas's ball Liz. I am trying slicing and freezing some of our courgettes like you do, as I saw some in the farm shop freezer. Those were with cherry tomatoes so I'll put some of those in as well.

I seem to be getting OH's bad throat now! It seems to be one thing after another lately! OH is achey and being kept awake at night with a cough his has now developed into. We don't seem able to get on with much at all.

Good evening All

It's been a really warm day here, David is on holiday and went to Windsor for the day it doesn't take long to get there from here although he went by train as he doesn't drive. last week he spent the day in Oxford further away but again not too long by train

Frank that must have been a good feeling catching up on old times with your friend from school. I hope Ros got on alright at the dentist.

Mandy your grandchildren look so smart in their School uniforms were they looking forward to going back to school?

So Thomas is having his little holiday in the cattery Jane, I expect the bunnies and mice are having a celebration now. Poor Janice still not knowing what is causing her discomfort lets hope the latest treatment does some good.

Abbie starts at college tomorrow she is doing tourism and photography, hopefully she will do well.

Liz your supper sounds appetising, we had lasagne and cauliflower cheese tonight, Paul was eating with us as we had the hairdresser come today,

Ann hopefully your sore throat doesn't turn into anything nasty

Going to watch DCI Banks in a minute.

magpie Report 7 Sep 2016 21:02

No, no sign of the ball! but she has several others so not a great loss!
Yes our supper was lovely and SO easy, with virtually no clearing up!!
Granddaughter started her A'level subjects today! ( The V1th Form went back two days later than the main school) No school uniform any more, and freedom to study without many rules and regulations. They're treated more like students than school pupils, which should please our girl!
Time for Banks!

Evening all,

It's been really muggy here ,we haven't seen much sun today which was good really as i think it would have been to hot to sit out .

Jane i hope you have a lovely time away in the cottage ,i had a google and it looks lovely with nice views , i hope the weather is kind to you so you can do some nice walks .

Son is còming in the morning as Colin would like to try going up stairs , i think i would feel easier if son was here with me when he tries it just in case he needs help.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Sep 2016 22:26

Good luck for Colin tomorrow trying the stairs and a good idea to have your son there just in case. He will be able to help being stronger than you.

When did you say Max starts his training classes?

What a shame Cas did'nt find her ball. She should be able to do that Liz with all her training. Never mind as you say she has others. Is the duck still around?? Did she like that funny ring with the middle in it I sent her?

Jane hope you have a lovely rest on holiday. Safe journey for tomorrow if I don't get on here before you set off. They seem to be going over everything for poor Janice and I hope they find out what it is soon.

Well I washed my hair but never got around to showering so I am going in now.

Anne Report 8 Sep 2016 08:00

Have a good holiday Jane & Chris and a safe journey.

magpie

magpie Report 8 Sep 2016 08:12

The reason Cas couldn't find her ball was because we'd had a huge bonfire that morning opposite the field she was running. In, and the smoke was billowing in that direction, so scent on the ball was masked by the smell of smoke. She's not interested in finding it any more as she's got her new ball! Yes she still has quacker, but not the ring as she managed to destroy that!!
Cloudy and windy this morning! OH is getting our breakfast, after we've had that he's going to finish the leeks, then do some logs as we had another load of timber from our chap yesterday, in payment for using our barn. Safe journey Jane.

Morning all,

The deer is laying up the top of the garden by my border as she's in the sun there.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Sep 2016 11:34

Today has put me in mind of this song from long ago and now I can't get it off my brain...

Hello muddah, hello faddah
Here I am at Camp Granada
Camp is very entertaining
And they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining.

I went hiking with Joe Spivy.
He developed poison ivy.
You remember Leonard Skinner
He got ptomaine poisoning last night after dinner.

All the counselors hate the waiters
And the lake has alligators
And the head coach wants no sissies
So he reads to us from something called Ulysses.

Now I don't want this should scare ya
But my bunkmate has malaria.
You remember Jeffrey Hardy
They're about to organize a searching party.

Take me home, oh muddah, fadduh
Take me home, I hate Granada!
Don't leave me out in the forest

Where I might get eaten by a bear.

Take me home, I promise I will not make noise,
Or mes the house with other boys.
Oh, please don't make me stay,
I've been here one whole day.

Dearest fadduh, darling muddah,
How's my precious little bruddah?
Let me come home, if you miss me
I would even let Aunt Bertha hug and kiss me.

Wait a minute, it's stopped hailing.
Guys are swimming, guys are sailing
Playing baseball, gee that's bettah
Muddah, faddah kindly disregard this letter!

Sorry Mel, I've never heard of it!!! Lots of tidying up this morning in the garden, dead heading roses, cutting back lupins, and generally having a sweep in. Another barrow load to take to the bonfire! OH has been cutting the hedge on our side, but he's had enough, and stopping for a lunch break!
This afternoon were off out to look round an old church near us which looks very interesting.

Annx Report 8 Sep 2016 15:08

Afternoon All,

I remember it well Mel. What made that pop into your head today! :-)

Good luck to Abbie Anne. It must be a bit scary when you start these things, but at least they are subjects she's interested in.

I hope Colin does well with the stairs Mandy.........another step forward if he does. :-)

Liz the V1 form is a bit different to when I was at school. My parents didn't let me stay on after 0 level GCEs, but the older girls looked just the same as the rest of us in their school uniforms. I don't know how much flexibility there was otherwise. I bet Cas will be chuffed when she eventually comes across her old ball!

I had a dreadful night last night, feverish with red hot cheeks, aches in all my joints and a dry sore throat. At 4.00 am OH got up and fetched me a cuppa and glass of milk with some paracetamol and I managed to drop off to sleep then. I was surprised I feel a lot better today, but maybe all those antibiotics for the stings have helped fight it off as they must still be in my system! I'm having a quiet day doing paperwork as I feel exhausted. The roofers and the drive layers have both got their angle grinders screaming away so it isn't very peaceful though. :-)

Anne Report 8 Sep 2016 15:59

Good Afternoon Everyone

Mel, I have now got that song going through my head, I can remember it being played on the radio. I think Terry Wogan had it on his radio 2 programme

Ann sorry to hear that you had a bad night, you are probably correct saying the antibiotics have helped the symptoms. I can remember when my brother had osteomyelitis after a Rugby injury because he was already taking antibiotics for an unrelated illness the Doctor said he was very fortunate as he could have been a lot worse than he was.

I wonder how far Jane has got on her journey to Wales does anyone know what route she would take from where she lives ?

I have been busy this morning put the Sainsbury shopping away, took Amy for a walk and then like Liz out in the garden . I also put some washing in the machine and had no choice but to iron one blouse and one shirt everything else got folded.

David has gone to Reading today on the bus [not my favourite place] much prefer Woking or Guildford.

Afternoon all,

Phew hot out there today and quite windy yoo ,i have been out twice and picked the garden brolly up as the wind has taken it over.

Colin did the stairs well this morning so he's going to have one more night in his bed down stairs as he has done a lot of walking today as well as trying the stairs .
Son suggested leaving the bed down until the weekend just to make sure Colin can cope with the stairs each night and then he'll move it back up, it will be nice to get back to normal

I expect Jane and Chris will be there by now ,i hope they get some good weather for their time away.

Oh dear Ann could it still be reaction from all those stings ? You had an awful lot of them and it must affect your body having to cope with them all even with antibiotics .

Mel ,you asked about the dog training , i don't go until the beginning of Oct as she
was in the middle of a set of classes and fully booked.
I remember that song , carn't remember who sung it though.

The fan is on here and we're just having a nice cold lemonade , i wonder if Jane took her hand held fan with her.

It's been hot and sunny here too with a bit of breeze. It's good Colin managed the stairs ok Mandy. Good idea to keep his bed downstairs a bit longer though in case he overdoes the stairs a bit once he's going up them more often.

I'm off to bed now, an early night to catch up on some sleep. I wonder where Frank is today? I hope he's ok and hasn't got into any mischief. :-)
