Afternoon all,

Phew another scorcher here today, yesterday we sat in front of the fan and i kept Max in the cool too ,he had his walk late in the day but it was still very muggy and last night in bed i was so hot even with all the windows wide open it was hard to sleep.

So a busy day today for Paul then Anne i hope the move all goes smoothly for him , the poor chaps that have to do all the moving will be hot humping furniture about in this heat .

You be careful on your walk Frank , just remember how ever far you walk thats how far you have to walk back.
I remember Colin feeling worn out when he had his first hip op ,he walked to far on his first outing , he was so tired that night and said he'd never do that again.

Oh lovely the weather man has just said cooler tomorrow .

Frank Report 15 Sep 2016 13:43

Well I've done it. Been round the block on my own. It's very HOT out there, I can see I might need another shower later to freshen me up.

Ros is down the pond trying to get all this duck weed out. It's a never ending job. I think it will need a professional in to sort it, or we should fill it in, and make it into a flower bed.I will have a word with my mate "PADDY" to see what he thinks.

Enjoy all this sunshine today Liz, as tomorrow I think we are in for a change !!!

Monday (Ros's Birthday) Jan is coming to take her out for some shopping and lunch, and in the evening John and Carolyn are taking us out for a meal. So we are out evening, Sunday lunch, and Monday Evening. So no cooking for either of us.

Roast lamb tonight.Me thinks it's time for a drink and a sarnie.

Frank Report 15 Sep 2016 14:12

Sure am Mandy. It was enough for my first venture. The distance covered would have got me to the pub (I THINK) That will have to b my next task.

I take it Colin is progressing after his operation.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Sep 2016 14:33

O well done Frak. Glad your back safe and sound and now you know you can make it to the pub too. Great. Your getting there slowly.

Oh has cut the wet lawn again today and started spiking it. We've had lunch and now he has gone back to it.

I cleaned the little loo from top to bottom this morning and hoovered the kitchen/ diner and sucked up all those blasted spiders again and their webs which seem to cover more ceiling and walls each time I do it. There'll be another lot up there tomorrow.

I don't think it has been as warm down here as you lot up there have had but I find it quite comfortable. Mind you this is a nice cool house in the summer as it faces north.

It's been gorgeous here this afternoon, very warm, so Cas and I are sitting on the lawn; I'm reading and snoozing She's playing with her ring, running round with it on her head, then flopping down beside me puffing!!! OH is pottering about with some project or another! Yes, I know Frank, tomorrow I think we shall be indoors, or at least have to put on a jersey if we want to be outside. :-( The beans are being cut in the field behind us, so we shall soon be able to take Cas in there which will make a change for her. Our Vet has let us have some Piriton tablets to keep for Cas in case she gets stung again. I feel happier knowing that we wouldn't have to dash to out of hours again if she were. Time for a COT!

Yes Frank Colin is doing fine ,not ready for the London marathon yet but doing a little more walking each day.
Perhaps going for the walk and having some air will help you sleep better tonight .

Lovely photos of Cas Liz , we have been sitting out in the garden this afternoon and Max has been out too chewing on his bone but we have come in now as its too hot .

Not more spiders Mel :-0 where are they all coming from , perhaps they crawl out of the hoover again after you've sucked them up , or are you a good girl and empty the hoover every time you use it ? i must admit i don't .

Jacket potatoes for us tonight with Tuna and salad .

Afternoon All,

Yes. well done Frank.......you must feel you are making a bit of progress doing that! As folk say though, always allow for the walk back!! I remember, after an operation, going to pay the papers just down the road and over the main road, not far or so I thought. I hadn't allowed for the fact it was uphill on the way back and was soon wondering if I could make it, especially across the 7 lanes on the main road, before the traffic lights changed!! lol. OH could do with one of those extending hedge trimmers to trim the hedge/brambles in the field at the back of our bottom fence. Let me know if Ros finds it easy to use.

I have really felt the heat with this cold, but feel much better today. I slept well again last night, just with a sheet over me. It's perhaps as well with workmen turning up so early. They set the dog next door off barking so there's no point laying in bed. One of the road diggers doing the trench was grinning as soon as he saw me today. I made him and his colleague burst out laughing yesterday. I took my camera out to get a photo of where the pipes were across the trench and as he was wondering about getting out of the trench to give me a clear shot I asked 'did he not want a 'selfie' then?' :-D ;-). They were digging across our drive this morning and had the tarmac lorry parked across it when we went out for lunch, but moved everything straightaway and covered the trench so we could drive out. They aren't back till Monday now, so I expect the builder's delivery lorries will be here in full force tomorrow. :-S

Just seen the pics of Cas. She looks lovely Liz and always so happy!! I see what you mean about her carrying her ring like that!! lol It must be nice to sit under your veranda............but I would have to sit there in the evening when it was cooler! I can't sit out in bright sunshine or when it's hot, nor can OH.

I see Jane has been on a beach today....wonder if she had a paddle?

Not done much today, just washed a winter coat, froze some toms and sliced courgettes and cleaned the kitchen worktops. I get all pink pinprick marks on my arms from the courgette plant, does anyone else?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Sep 2016 17:40

Yes Ann they get right in your skin those prickley stem on the courgette plants. I have to pick them with gloves on too as the actual fruit has hairs and prickles as well. Not till I have washed them can I handle them without gloves. Cues do it too sometimes. That reminds me I have let a cue get rather large and must pick it. I usually have long sleeves on too when picking cougettes because of this.

Oh had an hours sleep this afternoon but he was up very very early this morning as it was still dark. I had the wshing machine on and sometimes that wakes him even though it dos'nt make much noise but you can hear the water going through the pipes in the bedroom.

Cut down some brimbles this afternoon while it was quiet and he was asleep. Must empty my wheelbarrow.

Lovely pics of our Cas again. My fav is the one with her two back paws together and the quizicle look on her face.

magpie Report 15 Sep 2016 18:08

Yes Ann, she is a very cheerful little dog, nothing seems to faze her! We've never heard her growl, and you can even take a bone away from her without her fussing, even Millie who was equally good tempered wasn't too keen on that!! She's lying flat out in her cage after her evening run and her supper!
Nice photos from Jane. My BIL and family ran a B&B near Fishguard years ago, and we had some lovely holidays when our two were little. The coast is so beautiful and sands to die for. It's on our short list for a break in Oct! We shall.see!!
We're sitting outside having a Shandy while the rice cooks to have with our fish pie. We eat a lot of rice as It's so easy and saves peeling potatoes!!!

Frank Report 15 Sep 2016 18:56

Evening all, Well I have prepared and cooked dinner tonight. Ros was surprised when she in from the garden to do that job. All dished up at 6.00 pm. She is now washing up.

My knee is telling me I have done a bit to much today. I have taken more pain killers so it should ease off shortly.

I haven't looked at my emails yet, so hopefully will have Jane's and Liz's photo to look at in a mo.

Ros is still complaining about those horrible spiders. She sucks them up in the Dyson, and puts it straight into the BLACK BIN.

It is so HUMID here this evening. You can feel the damp in the air, so a good down pour will clear the air a bit.

I think a nice cold beer, sitting on the patio would be a good idea. See you all later.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Sep 2016 21:16

Did you enjoy your cold beer Frank?

We had pasta tonight with mushroom, tom spring onion and furters sliced in it. All in a nice extra mature cheese sauce and sprinkled with parmisan (sp).

Nice and cool here this evening Frank.

Did anyone see the moon when it came up tonight? It was beautiful all golden and full.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Sep 2016 09:37

morning all,

Not a bad day here with some sunshine but quite a high wind.

Oh wants me to get some lawn stuff for him when I go to Mole Valley this morning for chicken food. Also the shop in Holsworthy rang to say the bra I ordered is in so three things in one trip must make it worthwhile.

magpie

magpie Report 16 Sep 2016 10:08

Not a bad morning here either! I'm sitting outside in a long sleeved T shirt drinking my morning coffee, OH is inside on E.bay!!
Picked all our Bramleys this morning so now we'll have to go through them and freeze what we can and give away/chuck away what we can't! Ordered pills, made a hair appointment and emptied the dishwasher. OH has walked Cas, so apart from supper, there's not too much to do today!

Afternoon all,

We've had rain and thunder and lightning here this morning, i did manage nip to town when it eased up a little just wanted to get another Crab for our lunch .

Mel, there was no link to click on your email so i couldn't see your large Koi .
I thought how golden and big the moon looked last night .

It's Chelsea's birthday on sunday she will be nine so i said i would make her birthday cake ,i have decided to make a pinata cake and fill the middle with smarties , pink butter icing on the outside of the cake and decorated with white chocolate buttons .
It needs to be a deep cake as i have to fill the middle so i have made four sponge cakes to layer up.

Hope your not suffering to much with your knee today Frank after your walk out , if you have the rain like us you won't be going out far today.

Oh i do believe the rain is easing up , it seems a little brighter too.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Sep 2016 14:41

Sorry to hear you've had thunder and lightening Mandy. Does Max take any notice of the thunder? We've still got that cold wind but the suns out most of the time.

Iv'e seen those cakes with the smarties in the middle. It will be a nice surprise when the cakes cut. I can't believe she will be nine.

Mandy I may need you to knit me a chicken jumper please? My poor ittle Tattiana still has a bald back. Every time she grows new feathers and the others see them just poking through they peck them out. I has happened about four times now. I can't isolate her as the other may not accept her when they have grown.

Got my bra and all oh wanted and when I told him it came to £158 he said it should'nt have come to that much but he was looking on the pc at 2 kilo bags and I got 10 kilo bags which is what he usually has so I may have to take two bags back! but not today.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 16 Sep 2016 15:26

Oh bless her, what colour do you want ? Do you want it to blend in with her feather colour ?

Did i say the rain had eased , well it did just long enough for Max to have a walk now its tipping down again.
No Max doesn't take any notice of the thunder Mel.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Sep 2016 17:39

O thats good Mandy. She is ginger Mandy. I had a look online and there is a pattern but I wondered if I could make one to fit her out of a t shirt sleeve. I am making pumpkins out of old t shirts and looked at the sleeve and thought hmmmmm chicken shaped. I could cut holes for her wings and make the end of the sleeve fit her neck with a bit of velcro or a button.
