Anne Report 16 Sep 2016 21:52

Good evening all

We have had a very wet morning but it has cleared up now, also thunder and lightning which seemed to go on all night, a house on the other side of town got struck by the lightning. I didn't have much sleep last night not only the storm but Shadow had been missing for over 24 hours as she had never done it before I was so worried but she was asleep on the landing when I got up at 7o/c.She has been in all day today and was on my lap every time I sat down.

Liz what lovely photos of Cas she looks just like a Disney dog she is so pretty,

We watched Paul O'Grady last night he made friends with a 13 year old boxer named Prince he was behaving just like Amy does. he was found a perfect home otherwise Paul O'Grady was thinking of taking him home with him.

Mel I couldn't open your email photo of your butterfly Koi either.

The beach looks idyllic where Jane is and a beautiful blue sky as well, lets hope they have a good journey home I expect Thomas will be pleased to see them and free to hunt again

Morning all,

Just been watching the deer and her baby in the garden and the stag layin g up the top watching them. Our little Monach of the Garden.

Slept late this morning. Got up in the early hours to have a leak and looked out the side bedroom window as it was quite lightish with the moon and saw the fox's dark shape nosing around in the grass not far from the chicken run so its still about. I thought with all the building work going on ujp the top it may have moved on but no its still here abouts.

Frank Report 17 Sep 2016 11:46

Morning all, Evening Kim,

Nothing to report from this end.

Ros had a box of flowers this morning from Conrad in Spain. Lewis rang last night to say his Boss is letting him/me have a BIG cake of Strawberry's, Raspberry's,Cream and sponge That would normally be £30.00 for £10.00. He will bring it up this evening and smuggle it into the restaurant with the dozen RED ROSES that Julia is getting for me from her local florist. The staff will bring them out after our meal, when they play "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" Ros won't be best pleased.

Not a very nice morning, North wind and overcast.

Jane should be setting off on the long journey home anytime now.

Have a good day folks, might pop in later.

Morning All,

Nice and sunny here now after a showery start. I can't decide what to do today. OH is off to a match somewhere.....he tells me where before he goes. I might go out but it will be tricky getting my car out with the digger at the bottom of our drive. One of the delivery lorries couldn't get by to deliver blocks to the builders yesterday so they had to use the fork lift to and fro to unload.

I watched Paul too Ann and saw the Boxer, Prince. I also thought Paul would be taking him home! :-) We watched Joanna in Japan too, another interesting episode. I hope the move to the flat went smoothly. There will be a bit of work getting it just right next!

It's going to be quite a night then Frank and how generous of Lewis's boss to discount that scrummy sounding cake! Red roses too.....Ros will be overwhelmed!

How lovely to see the baby deer too Mel and the stag. You will have to watch out for the fox now. He's bound to be back with the chickens there.

I have remembered I have a parcel to return so have to go out anyway. It looks like it's going to rain too so I'd better skedaddle. There's no rear wiper on my back screen, so reversing to miss the digger would be even harder if it's raining!!

Suns still out here and its a lovely day if you stay out of the breeze. oh says he has lots to do in the garden but no motivation today so he's gone in the study.

I have some washing to do but my new magazine arrived in the post so I may just have a read instead.

Ros is going to be so pleased with that cake and the roses Frank. Did you say her birthday is on Monday?

Anne

Anne Report 17 Sep 2016 16:37

Good Afternoon All

Mel, how lovely being able to see the deer family in your garden, have you managed to take any photo's of them?

Frank, Ros is going to have a nice well deserved surprise on her birthday, that cake sounds delicious and the red roses as well

I went to see Paul's flat just after he had moved in [his idea] as you would expect boxes everywhere but it was really nice and he already had a table and two chairs out on the balcony. He was going to buy some curtains after he had taken me back home and yesterday he was going to Ikea in Reading to get some new furniture. The building where he is has the college where Abbie now goes just across the road. He is buying twin beds for the spare bedroom which also has it's own en-suite so will be ideal when the girls want to stay

It was our wedding anniversary today and we would have been 56 years married, can't help feeling sad so have tried to keep busy.

I wonder how far Jane & Chris have got, I hope they have a safe journey, they may be already home of course if they left early.

Annx Report 17 Sep 2016 17:00

Paul's flat sounds ideal for the girls to stay Anne and handy for Abbie to pop in! I must say Ikea is ideal for buying bits and bobs that will fit spaces and go together well. We have some of their drawers in the hall. I searched high and low for some (much more expensive) oak ones to fit the space and failed, but these much cheaper ones look fine.

Yes I expect Jane and Chris will be either home or near home now. We find Saturdays a good day to travel so hopefully they won't get held up. Isn't it a game opening all the post when you get back from a break away?

Anne, it must be sad for you on your anniversary and you must miss your hubby. It is wonderful though to have been happy together and have precious memories. Many never have that. <3 <3

OH has managed to do 2 footie matches today, both only a few miles away. It is our 13th anniversary tomorrow so I'd better get my cards written before he gets back. It's crept up on us this year without MIL's birthday and their anniversary since my birthday!

Mel did you see those high viz chicken vests you can get on line? lol.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Sep 2016 17:21

Had the back door porchy bit out this afternoon. Its where oh smokes in the evening and day when its wet and we keep the mealworms on a shelf up high and they always get under the door mat somehow. I bought a very cheep rubber mat with lots of big holes in it and it fits inside the porch before the usual doormat. It collects all the grit off the tarmac and mud from our boots and saves a lot of it coming in the house. It was only £2 in Morrisons.

Yes Ann I have seen those high vis chicken jackets but can't really see the point as chickens go in before its dark anyway. Just a gimmick for people with more money than sense I think.

<3 <3 <3 Happy anniversary for tomorrow Ann and Gordon <3 <3 <3

Just incase I forget....

Evening all,

It's been a dull day here weather wise but quite a busy day as poor son had a todo this morning , he parked in a car parking space when they went to visit DIL's sister when he backed out he heard this hissing noise didn't think much about it carried on backing out and then heard it again ..?..turns out he had back out over some of those poles that drop down and you can pull them up after you have parked , he split two tyres !!! One on the front one on the back .
He rang the tyre place and they said they had tyres to fit so he dropped them off ,later they rang to say they didn't have them and they could get them in on monday , so he was not very happy .

I made Chelsea's cake yesterday and my poor old hand mixer gave up on me , i had it as a wedding present , i plugged it in and luckly i didn't go off to do some thing else as it started hissing and white smoke poured out so i quickly unplugged it and layed it out in the rain !!

So a sad day for you then Anne <3 lots of happy memories though i'm sure .

Ann how does OH manage two matches ? i thought most matches start about the same time ,or does he only see half a match so he can move on to see part of another.

I'm sure Ros will love the Roses and cake Frank ,have a good evening .

Must take Max now for a walk while its dry , he now sits for a treat and gives you his paw :-)

HELLO!! :-D :-D
Well we are home again. It took a good 7 hours with a couple of half hour breaks.I think it must have been market day for the sheep.Everyone was out on the roads with trailers full of the little darlings .Plus tractors and other farm machinery. We stopped of for the first break at a lovely place where they feed Red Kite. But feeding time wasn't until 3 so we missed it :-(
Still sorting out unpacking .Mess everywhere .Plus the tumble drier and washing machine going with all James and Jess's things from their holiday in Scotland.
We have all ordered what we want from a Chinese Takeaway. That will be delivered soon. But I will put Chris and my food to keep warm for a while as we had a bit to eat at a service station at 3.30 so we aren't starving yet.Hannah James and Jess are ready.

No chance of reading posts yet but I do see it would have been your Anniversary Anne. It will be a day of a touch of sadness but I am sure many many happy memories. <3
I had better help Chris with emptying boxes and putting things away now.

See you all tomorrow.

Annx Report 17 Sep 2016 21:15

WELCOME HOME Jane! :-D I expect you will want to relax and have an early night now.

Thank you Mel. :-) I thought the same about those jackets until I thought about the ducks in a village near here. They keep crossing at a busy junction to get from the brook to some windfall apples from branches overhanging a garden wall opposite. They were causing chaos at dusk the other night as they dilly dally in the road and traffic has to stop and cars behind can't see them and start hooting. I thought they needed something like high viz jackets!!

Mandy, I think the bigger clubs do tend to start at the same time, but the kick off at little local matches varies a bit as some don't have floodlighting so start earlier. Mind you the first one he went to today has just spent £2 million upgrading it! He doesn't fuss if he misses the first half of a second match like he did today as it's free to get in later and he caught up with one of his pals there.

What a shame your mixer packed up today.....it doesn't sound good with white smoke coming out!!! Still you've had good service from it haven't you. I expect it was back to hand mixing the cake after. Max is a good boy sitting nicely and giving his paw to get a treat. :-)

What a shame about your son's tyres!! :-0 There are some drop down poles in front of the parking spaces outside houses that are on the edge of our doctor's surgery car park and sometimes you have to overlap the spaces a bit to get your car out of the surgery spaces. I wouldn't have dreamt you could slit a tyre on them so will have a close look at them next time I go. Two tyres aren't cheap and I bet they weren't ready to replace either.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Sep 2016 22:52

I think thats awful about the tyres. Can't he claim for them? There must have been a very sharp bit for it to ruin two tyres Mandy.

Ann they shoudl be called duck jackets but I suppose if they are wild ducks there's nobody to buy them for them!! I don't think I have ever seen ducks eat apples but they could be going for the slugs neath the apples. ( you don't use that word much do you. Don't know where it came from, somewhere deep in my little grey cells)

O Mandy my first mixer went up in smoke. I think it was probably over work that killed mine as at the time I made a lot of cakes. I have mums old Kenwood but its in the uti room cupboard and such a faff to get it all out I use a hand mixer oh bought me in Morrisons, the cheep first home kind, I think it was only about a fiver but it dos'nt have a very slow speed which is a bit of a nuisance.

Glad your both home safe and sound Jane. We shall want to hear all about your holiday tomorrow. thanks for the pics you sent us and the view one was great. Thomas will be so pleased to see you when you pick him up tomorrow. He'll be glad to get back to his old hunting ground, bless.

We're sitting up in bed drinking our COT and debating what we're going to do today!!I. I think it'll be pulling the sweet peas, pruning the bushes and generally tidying up!
Yesterday we bought a dashcam from Halfords! OH has been talking about getting one for ages, so today he'll be fitting that! Son's got one and he seemed to think we ought to have one too! It was quite expensive, but is all singing and dancing, so if necessary, should do the business!!
Glad you got home safely Jane and that you had a good time.

Afternoon all,

Jan has just arrived to take us to lunch. !! I'm still full from last nights excellent meal. The service is so nice and friendly. I was introduced to the "OWNER" last night. I pulled his leg, as he stood behind the bar with a drink in his hand "I SAID DRINKING THE PROFITS" not knowing who he was. The Manager introduced him to me as one of the favourite customers.and I told the boss what a great manager he had.

The cake was a great success. Sponge finger made in a circle, with layers of sponge cream ,strawberry, raspberry's Repeated to the top then covered in jelly, raspberry's and strawberry's.

Must go, they are waiting for me.

Happy Anniversary to Ann & Gordon <3 <3'.

Pleased you are back safe and sound Jane and reunited by now I expect with the lovely Thomas. Your photos were very good especially the one with the standing stones they looked as though they will topple over with the slightest push.

Paul and the girls are coming for Sunday Roast its beef this time, but he has rung to say he is still waiting for the Ikea delivery which the latest was due to arrive by 1pm, so we will see.

I hope you enjoy the meal today Frank, yesterday sounded like a real success, the cake sounded delicious, That was nice compliment you had from the manager,it's nice to know your custom is appreciated

Liz. Paul has got a dash cam fitted to his car, he needs one round here as the roads
are so busy being close to 3 motorways and a lot of bad drivers.as well
