Frank Report 30 Sep 2016 10:56

I have at last been able to get to the computer. It's been under dust sheets all week.

Good morning Mel and all, evening Kim,

Not read any posts (sorry) will try to catch up sometime later.

The decorator has been working flat out, he doesn't stop for lunch and drinks his tea as he works. His work is brilliant no mess anywhere, and forever cleaning up behind himself. He's here at 8.15 am and works until he can't do anymore that day. So he goes home between 4.00 and 5.30 pm. He is glossing all the woodwork today, and will come back Monday to hang the paper down the fireplace side of the lounge and dining room.

I have already recommended him to Carolyn, who needs two bedrooms doing and the outside of the house. At the prices he charges he will never be short of work. and his workmanship is second to none. I am well pleased.

My WONDERFUL neighbour cut his front lawn yesterday. Mine needed doing, but he just put his mower away. I thought I would show him up, by getting the mower out and doing my own. BIG MISTAKE. The knee is swollen and very painful needless to say I didn't have a good night, and can hardly move on it today.

Ros seems to have picked up a bug, she is burning hot then cold. Wednesday night she was in bed by 8.30 (NEVER BEEN KNOWN !!!) She isn't eating and only had a glass of water yesterday.

I trust all my "GIRLS" are keeping well, and behaving yourselves. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Back to my armchair and leg up with my ice bag on my knee.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Sep 2016 11:53

O Frank you naughty boy mowing the lawn just because he did'nt do yours. You should know by now what kind of person he is not thinking of others only himself by the way he treats Val. Its all the turning on that knee on the front lawn that has done your knee in. You are a really naughty boy and deserve the cane. :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Sep 2016 11:58

I was soooooo cross with Frank I forgot to post that the suns out again now and the washings on the line.

The oil man rang while I was doing the chickens water to say the oil is going up next month so would I like to order now? Rang back and said I would have 800 litres or just fill the tank up. Oh said he thought it would take 900 at least but we don't have a gage on this tank so he has to dip it and guess.

Another bit of good news is that Tatianna I think has a feather on her back where she was completely bald. If this one grows it should cover quite a bit of her back up to her tail.

Annx Report 30 Sep 2016 13:33

Afternoon All,

Mistress Mel has spoken Frank!! I totally agree with her, you should know it would never dawn on your neighbour to help you out! Don't you want your knee to heal well and quickly because it won't if you carry on like this? :-S Hopefully you haven't set it back too much. Your decorator sounds like a good, hardworking chap. I hope Ros soon feels better. I still have this sore throat, over 3 weeks now but it improves slightly each day so must be getting better.

Beading was very taxing on our brains today and we didn't get much of our bracelet done!! I like it though , so will persevere. :-)

Its good that a new feather is starting to grow on Tatiana's back Mel. It will be getting cold soon so she will need all the feathers she can grow!!

The film I went to see was Deepwater Horizon, a true story about an american oil sea rig disaster. There were only 2 others in the cinema besides us.

How annoying your freezer seems to be packing up Jane. Better now though than Christmas week when it would be more full still!!

George is getting brave isn't he Anne. Maybe he is a fussy eater and doesn't fancy the grub your cats like !! lol.

I'm still waiting for the rug to be delivered, then we need to do a bit of shopping. I've not done any HW I was going to do today yet!! :-| I see Mel has been beavering away though. The Victorian Slums prog sounds interesting.

Jane

Jane Report 30 Sep 2016 17:05

Afternoon All
Well ,I will add to Ann and Mel's comments Frank !!!!!. You really need to be careful and not take on the big tasks like mowing the lawn :-S.You don't need to try and be 'macho ' LOL. You don't want to set yourself back now.

The beading is sounding as though it is going be very interesting Ann.It will be nice to use some different beads this time and make some new styles.
You didn't say if you enjoyed the film!

So a new feather for Tatiana
:-D.That is a good sign Mel.Maybe she is feeling a bity less stressed now.
Well my freezer has definitely packed up :-S..I have 3 big bin bags of defrosted food to go to the tip tomorrow. The repair chap won't be here until Wednesday.I don't think it will be worth putting a claim in for loss of food as our excess is a £100 or more.

Good idea to fill the tank then Mel now if prices are going to go up.How long does a full oil tank last you? I don't know many people who have oil now .In fact I think Fitz is the only one I know. They don't have gas down the lane.
Fitz left here about an hour ago.We had a good old natter. He was saying that his cousin Edward is the top Human Rights Defence Lawyer in the country!!

Chris has just got in from his day in Cambridge. He says the Art Exhibition he went to was very good.He had a wander through John Lewis and couldn't believe the whole Xmas thing going on .He even sent me a pic !... I said this is just the beginning :-D and it is just Oct 1st tomorrow.
Cup of tea time now .My tongue feels like it is stuck to the roof of my mouth.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Sep 2016 18:03

Glad Chris liked his exhibition.

Another month gone past

I have been looking for some white glitter and do you think I can find it. Found some silver but I really wanted White. I don't think there is anywhere round here I can get white glitter so it will have to be a trip into Bideford High Street I suppose on Tuesday which is annoying as by that time I shan'nt want to do with it what I want to do now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Off to corn the chickens now.

Jane shame you hav'nt got chickens as they would have eaten a lot of stuff out the freezer if it was veg you threw away.

Jane

Jane Report 30 Sep 2016 18:21

Mel there was plenty of veg I chucked out.The sad thing was some of it was our own home grown peas and beans :-(..They were just mush. We have had most of our own veg from the freezer ,so it wasn't too much wasted. The meat was the worst waste :-S

I have told Chris tomorrow is a day of clearing the blooming hanging spiders.I just can't believe how many baby ones there are (like at your house Mel ) They just appear from nowhere!!! The webs are so thin you can't see them until you happen to walk into one or catch one on your arm . :-S :-S
Can't having Janice coming here to a house full of webs and spiders !!!! Not that she would mind at all. Fitz is still having the same problem .

Evening all,

It's been another nice day ,bit chilly in the wind when the sun goes in but we did sit out for a while this afternoon .

Well here goes Frank your going to get a telling off from me too you naughty boy , you are doing so well don't go and set yourself back all for the sake of an inch or two of grass , i bet Ros was cross with you , or did you creep out while she was out ?
Get those pain killers into yourself and rest up now.

Mel you asked if Nicko had a sleeping bag ,yes he does , he's not been about for a few days he did say he was going to move on after getting the big stone thrown at him but yesterday he was back and he told me he had been to see an aunt and uncle for a few days in a village a few miles from town , he didn't sleep in the usual place last night though so he must have found some where else .

Oh Jane thats a devil the freezer packing up and loosing all that food as some one said thank goodness it wasn't near to christmas when you would have had extra bits in there .
How is Hannah today ? feeling better i hope .

Mel i bet you will find the glitter when your looking for some thing else it's always the way , what are you making ? is it some thing to do with the leaves you mentioned the other day ?

So beading today was brain taxing then Ann , i'm sure you'll do it not much gets the better of you lol

Looks like tomorrow is going to be very wet :-(

Jane

Jane Report 30 Sep 2016 19:16

Mandy .maybe Nicko is staying around you as he does have some family nearby. It is good he is able to go and see them.He may have been able to have had a nice bath and a bit of TLC from his Aunt and Uncle.
Yes it is a good thing the freezer wasn't full of Christmas food.I just feel miffed that so much meat has been lost. Not bothered about veg, oven chips etc.I do think it is a long time until Wednesday though before someone comes to sort the freezer out.

Hannah has had a Sandwich today and kept it down :-).It was supposed to be a good night out tonight to celebrate the end of her PhD but that has been put on hold for now.
She said that someone on her course is getting married tomorrow and she has had to go to A&E to get an Anti Sickness injection !!!!!. I said maybe she should have a vomit bowl tucked up her dress (just in case ) :-S

Annx Report 30 Sep 2016 19:46

OH was glued to the film Jane, but too much of it was crash, bang, wallop for me and flickering lights on the oil rig went on for ages which I didn't like. Some of those films you plan to see sound good. At least now the children are back at school, there are more adult films coming along. What a shame you have to bin so much food. I hope the freezer is repairable and at least you know there is no old food lurking in there that needs clearing out now!! I bet Chris was surprised to see Christmas has arrived! Trees have been up with baubles on for a while in the garden centres.

That's good Nicko has a sleeping bag Mandy. It seems he does have at least an uncle and aunt not far away then. I wonder what they make of him living this way? They must worry about him I would think, but family dynamics and happenings can be strange and difficult at times.

It's tipping it down with rain here now. I can hear it on the window. OH said we have rain forecast here tomorrow, so I expect he will be looking for a match where they have some cover to stand under. :-)

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 30 Sep 2016 20:22

I must admit i felt a bit happier when Nicko said had had been to see his aunt and uncle , when the weather gets really cold i hope he will be able to stay with them and not have to cope with being out in the open.

Thats good that Hannah managed to keep a sandwich down , but that poor bride !! all the planning that goes into the day and she's to poorly to enjoy it .

Had the meat been defrosted to long to cook somd of it then Jane ?

Lovely photo of you Ann thanks for sending it , so you gave the rain now ,i was looking at the Water Boots in our factory shop yesterday thought i might need some when i walk Max but they were to tight round the tops of my chubby legs so I'll have to stick with my leather ankle boots i think.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Sep 2016 21:32

Mandy I am pleased Nicko has some family around not too far away. I wonder why he is living like he is? He sounds such a nice young man. I wonder if he gives his aunts address for his money??

Got the second lot of washing nearly dry this afternoon. I brought the pillow cases in and ironed them straight away and hung them on the airer in the uti room as the freezer is in there and its always warm.

Ann I can't stand those films that have lots of flashing lights and loud noises. Oh watches some of those but not for me. I think oh may be going a little deaf as he seems to have the telly a lot louder now than I would like.

Morning all,

Pinch and a punch, white rabbits..........................................

A changable day here. One minuet its sun then its raining.

Ann you made it to the paper then. What a clever girl you are. Nice pic of all t he winners.

How's our Frank's knee this mornin g? I hope your not going to do anything more silly like cutting the lawn.

Meant to say yesterday night I dreamt of getting fish knives for someone!!

Frank

Frank Report 1 Oct 2016 11:46

Morning my lovelies, evening Kim.

My knee is as tights as a "TICKS BUM" I am trying to stretch the knee but finding it very painful. Been having bad nights due to movement.

Poor old you Jane, all the food having to be thrown away. We had 4 big freezers in the shop the packed up due to power strikes. The local Council Health inspector came to oversee all the food being disposed of, and came to the tip to see that the it was THROWN AWAY. He then signed the disposal documents for me to claim on the insurance.

Mandy, I can see that if this lad is still around in the winter, you will be letting him sleep in the garage or shed. DON'T ADOPT HIM.

I see your Jewellery making class's have started Ann. Ros made a nice Pearl bracelet and ear rings for Pam our nice neighbours birthday, that was on Thursday..

The Decorator has plugged the lights in the glass cabinet. The plug is behind the cabinet, we can't get to it. We are hoping Harvey is coming later to alter some "SKY" wiring. He might be able to get behind the cabinet to take out the plug and put in the block of switches.

Very black overhead, so I expect we will have a wet afternoon.

Carolyn has invited us down for lunch tomorrow, so it make it easier for us. I must try to keep Ros away from box's till after the weekend.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Oct 2016 11:56

Thats going to be a hard job Frak as she will want to get everything in place as soon as she can.

Its raining here on and off so it dos'nt give you time to do stuff outside and I have to wash the pellets box out as I have had slugs in it and they have messed all down the sides and there's slim trails all over the wooden lid. I shall have to put some salt down under the bin on the floor to see if I can keep them out and tape over to two little holes in the side where the plastic lid went.

Annx Report 1 Oct 2016 13:09

Afternoon All,

It's a gloomy and wet day here after a lot of rain in the night. OH is going to a match that's at a velodrome in Mansfield this afternoon. He's putting even more warm clothes on top of what he had this morning as he said they will be standing high up on the sides of the velodrome and it will probably be windy as well as wet!!

I expect the knee will take a few days to settle down again now Frank, so don't overdo it. I hope Ros is feeling better now. She is keeping her hand in with the jewellerymaking then and pearls always look nice. It is good to be able to make a present like that and nice that she has made it herself. :-) It will be nice for both of you not to have to bother cooking tomorrow.

Mel I found an enormous slug in our front garden the other day! They say there are more of them about this year and I had trouble with them on my runners earlier. Luckily we don't get them on the island beds in the gravel......they won't attempt to cross all those stones. I've noticed if I leave seed packets in the greenhouse they eat the surface and print off the paper and off the labels on containers in there. They must be attracted to the glue or something.

Jane Report 1 Oct 2016 13:59

Afternoon Everyone

Lovely photo of you Ann with your awards :-D

Well James and Jess are just off to a Wedding and its raining :-S. The wdding is in Geddington Church and reception in a Marquee at Warkton Village Hall. I have a feeling it is a Hog Roast. Jess won't be impressed lol She will probably be saying "Oh Poor Piggy". She is stiff faffing about getting ready and James is all suited and booted.

Love that saying Frank.Tight as a ticks bum..I haven't heard that one before :-D.Oh dear your poor knee is being a nuisance isn't it.Would it help to run a nice warm shower over it for a while and then try to stretch it a bit?
Yes it is horrible having to chuck out so much food. I wasn't sure how long everything had been defrosted so didn't want to take a chance with the things like Pork and Chicken. We won't be claiming on the insurance.I remember once before when we lost a whole lot I had to keep everything until some chap from the insurance came to check all that I was claiming for,and it was quite unpleasant rooting through all the bags to show what was ruined.it was all soggy and wet packaging.Yuk ! :-S

I can't believe it is October now.It only seemed like yesterday that it was July.
This afternoon is going to be a few hours housework.I have my new cobweb brush ready to sweep all the webs off the walls and ceilings.Chris can suck the spiders up in the battery spider catcher . Then a bit of a hoover and a dust. Janice's bed is ready I just need to dust in there
Oh dear the rain is coming down heavier now :-S :-S..I always feel sorry for the Bride and groom if it is a wet day on their special day. I know it is the second marriage for the chap, but not sure about the bride. It is the Dad of one of James's friends.

Thomas is curled up on his bed snoring his head off LOL .I couldn't make out what the noise was !!

Next door had about 20 pallets delivered this morning. What would someone do with 20 pallets? I am very curious.

I am just doing Baked Potatoes tonight.I like Chicken and Sweetcorn mixed with salad cream and Chris likes a tin of baked beans with those horrible little sausages.

I think I need to put some lights on here it seems to be getting darker

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Oct 2016 14:53

O those sausages are horrendous Jane in the tins of beans. I remember you saying once before that Chris liked them.

If the rain at the wedding is anything like we have here it will be a washout. We keep getting really heavy showers that come thundering down and then the sun pops out for a second or two and then its dull again.

I bought some hangings in Lidl of hedgehogs and pumpkins with a yellow bead in between but they hung downwards so this morning I cut them up and restrung them all and have them hanging under the windowsill in the kitchen.

I found my white glitter this morning too. I was so pleased as I can now do the other thing I want to make. Now all I need to find are my pergamano sissors and that blimmin cookery book. :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|
