Frank Report 6 Oct 2016 11:00

Morning Mel and all, evening Kim,

The box's are beginning to go down, I can see out of the conservatory windows now!!!!

Good news for Colin Mandy, I wish I was improving like him. It gave me another bad night last night, and is aching this morning from my thigh to the ankle. :-( :-(

Ros has gone to "Stitchery do" together with a boot full of eating and cooking apples from Carolyn's garden. The Gardener bloke got up one tree and shock the tree bare. So I can see we will be giving everyone apples as I think they are off to Teneriffe (sp) next week. for a month, then back in December til March.

I see Thomas is being his usual self, eating the area out of mice, no wonder he was sick. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Ros came back from collecting an order of a bottom fitted sheet from M & S and called in at Tesco, They had rails of reduced tops, so needless to say she couldn't pass them by and bought SIX. I bet she won't be throwing six old ones away.

I had a new set of light oak "nest of tables" arrive this morning. Now I have the job of trying to put them together. It might be that Ros will have to do it for me.

Mel, If I take a photo of the lounge, I can't send it, as when I lost my email I lost all of your address's and I no idea how to retrieve them.

Frank Report 6 Oct 2016 14:32

Ros has just walked in. She got rid of three BIG bags of apples, and still has one in the boot.

My leg is an absolute Bugg## today. I have manages to do chips, mushrooms, onions and pepper sauce for our RIB EYE steaks tonight.

I have come over all hot. Is it my age lol ??? I am down to my joggers. Ros says it's turning chilly out, and it's very cloudy.

Where are you all today ???

Oh is out mowing. We have a chilly wind too but thesuns still out and I have the bathroom mats in the second wash for today.

Jane Report 6 Oct 2016 16:30

Afternoon All

I have just been to see the film Girl on the Train with Fitz.I did enjoy it :-D.. Not everyones thing. But if you enjoy psychological thrillers then this is one for you.
The patio had to have another hosing down this morning because of the Hedgehog :-S I will be glad when it goes off to hibernate !

Frank your old leg must be getting you down terribly .It is a pity that the pain is lasting so long.Although I don't think it is that unusual still to be painful at this stage.I'm sure you will get there in the end :-D

Well Hannah and the girls have decided to go for this house they saw on Monday.I think they have to do a holding deposit so that no-one else can view.It is a bit bigger than the house they are in now and all the bedrooms have en suite which for 3 young women is great :-D

Ann you will miss your visits to the beading lady with the cakes and chocolates :-) Did I see that OH was going to pay for all you bought there this time? :-D :-D

Goodness the wind is really blowing!!! It is all cloudy now and yet just a few minutes ago the sun was shining and it was a blue sky . I just spotted Thomas tearing off down the lawn with the wind up his tail lol

Jane Report 6 Oct 2016 17:59

Frank are you saying that you have lost all our email addresses? If so I will send you mine again.

Chris and Fitz have just gone off to a Council meeting.Thomas has had another mouse and has gone again.I am just waiting for James and once he has eaten he is off for a game of Badminton with a mate of his.

I am looking forward to the next episode of the Fall tonight :-D.I missed National Treasure on Tuesday when Janice was here so need to catch up on that one.

Mel that is a lovely idea of yours to make some bunting to take to the Village Hall for the childrens Halloween party :-D.. I seem to have missed what you are doing with jars and Pom Poms!!

All day we have been hearing the BEEP BEEP of reversing big trucks and lots of clunking noises(from the end of the lane). That started at 7 this morning :-S.it is going to go on for a long time I think. I am just hoping that the Badgers Setts have been moved in that field because the temporary roadway is going right through that part of the field :-S. The small watering hole(pond) is still fenced off for the Crested Newts.
All this work going on is going to cause havoc for the wildlife :-(

Annx Report 6 Oct 2016 20:49

Evening All,

I know EXACTLY what you mean by beeping and clunking Jane! The lorries couldn't get down here earlier in the week as some more men were back and digging a new hole in our end of the close. No idea what they were doing but they've gone now and there is a new big manhole in place! Now they've gone the huge lorries have been back with a vengeance today, one after another. I said to OH you'd think they would have run out of places to pour all the concrete that's arrived! OH wasn't very enthusiastic about going to see that film Jane, but it sounds good. Tomorrow we plan to go and see the Bridget Jones film after beading and lunch.

Yes OH did say he would pay for the beads, but his jaw dropped open when I said it was 3 figures, even with £10 discount!!! lol. I told him it was too much but he said he'd still pay, so I said I would be happy with just a contribution. Now I think he's forgotten all about it!!!! You're right about me missing the sales there. I thought the lady's hubby was in his late 50s but yesterday he told me he was 70, so it's no surprise they want to give up doing it after 14 years. His wife had a bad back yesterday and he said he had hurt his knee playing football so is waiting for a knee replacement. Not ideal for setting everything up for the house sales they do and then putting it all away after. They will still carry on with their on line sales.

Is the council meeting to do with the planning application Jane?

The bunting idea does sound nice Mel. :-) The shops are full of halloween stuff now.

It sounds like you are nearly straight now Frank........next it will be more boxes out.......with the Christmas decs in!! Your knee pain might be making you hot. Hopefully it will start to get more comfortable soon ......each day that passes is a day nearer to it getting better. Hope the tables went together ok. OH isn't at his best assembling things!

I was thinking today, did all the ladies on here have hair ribbons as little girls? I can remember various coloured ones at the end of my plaits, but woe betide me if I lost one!! Mum would be very cross! :-S I had those plastic coloured hair slides too that you clipped your hair back with.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Oct 2016 21:24

I had ribbons and slides. The slides were like an oval of forget me nots and I had them in different colours, bows and slides. Funny thing is I found one of those old kind of slides and wore it when I went shopping on Tuesday to keep my wispy bits from blowing around on top of my head and combs in the sides.

Good morning all

Just a very quick hello as we are off on holiday shortly, I haven't been able to read the posts as the internet has been a little dodgy this last few days. We are staying at a cottage named Leagarth in Rye Foreign as the name suggests it's very close to Rye and not too far from Hastings, so we are meeting up with Mark my eldest son as it's his birthday on the 12th.

Hope everyone is OK and we are back next Friday hopefully the M25 doesn't cause any delays :-( :-(

Morning all,

Not so nice here today as there is no sun and a grey cloudy sky and its quite cold.

It certainly feels like winter is on its way. All the orchard is covered in leaves and they hav'nt all fallen yet but we must have had some cold nights of r that to happen.

Apart from Anne who is off on her hols what is everyone else doing today?

Frank

Frank Report 7 Oct 2016 12:29

Afternoon Anne, and Mel. How are the rest of you doing ??

My two sister's had their hair ribbons platted into their hair. It was to stop them removing the ribbons, as they couldn't plait their hair with the ribbon in it. I use to buy my "Girlfriend" hair slides with my pocket money I think they cost 2d each from the local shop in the village. That must be 70 years ago. Thanks for jogging my grey matter. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Between us we managed to put the tables together, they look nice and are a good replacement for the old ones that Ros got from the Charity Shop. She will take those back to The Heart Foundation tomorrow, together with some various bowls she has discovered in the back of one of the cupboards.

Hope Anne has a nice break at Rye. We go there when we go to Hastings with John and Carolyn.

Ros had a call from the Doctor this morning confirming she has GOUT and the her collestrol (sp) is low. her kidneys are also not as good as he would like. So it looks like more tablets, she has to have further blood tests and urine test later this month.

Jane, The Surgeon told me that some knees can TAKE MONTHS to be pain free so not a good future for me, by the looks of things. It had me awake quite a lot again last night. I feel now as though I could go back to sleep.

That was very good of your OH to offer to pay for your beans Ann !! Even though he forgot to pay you. lol lol. Ros doesn't even tell me what she buys. I only know when the postman delivers packages every few days ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) <3 <3 <3. With the amount of stuff she has, she could start selling from home like your lady !!!

The weather is very overcast, with a light breeze. Ros has two lines of washing out, and I can see them moving slightly in the breeze, whether it will dry is another thing.

Car is in for a service today. The garage will bring it back when it's ready. So madam is housebound till it comes back. :-D :-D :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Oct 2016 12:56

Glad you're both pleased with your new tables Frank. I am sure the old ones will go back to the Heart Foundation in a better state than when Ros bought them.

Its still overcast here too and quite chilly out and indoors. If oh was'nt such hot stuff I could have the heating for a little while but he will complain that he is too hot.

Left my bathroom mats out last night and they are just as wet as when I put them out if not wetter.

Em next door has asked me for a bag of clothes for the pre school who get money for so many kilos to help with the playgroup. I have sorted some things but for the life of me I can't find the bag she gave me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its started raining here...................................................... :-(

Frank

Frank Report 7 Oct 2016 16:02

I expect we will get some rain later. Ros did managed to get her washing dried, even though we haven't seen any sunshine today.

She has just been picked up to collect the car. I expect that will be close to £100.00 that is without having a major service. She will pop into the Drs to pick up her tablets while she's out.

A few more box's have been emptied today, I think there is 6/8 to go. Then there is some bits in the garage.

My knee has been behaving better today, I gave it a good talking too this morning !!!

Nice COD LOIN tonight for me. I think I will do mash and a parsley sauce. I haven't had that for many a year. Not sure what madam will want.

The decorator left a bag a filler here, so Ros will give it to Martine tomorrow. Brian can return it to him when he next sees him at Rugby.

What have you all been up to today. ?? and has anyone heard from Fiona ??

MillymollyAmanda Report 7 Oct 2016 16:25

Afternoon all,

Just started raining here too, its been cloudy all day but i don't think it has felt as chilly today as the last few days .

Well Max did very well with his training last night ,he was well behaved with the other dogs , there were four springers ,Max and a Golden lab called Toby who was a little so and so he kept twisting on his lead ,his lady owner good fed up with him she kept tutting when he wouldn't do what they wanted and in the end she past him over to her hubby to have a go , Debbie the trainer took him in the end and he walked well with her ,when we came away they were fitting him up with one of the Halti leads that the trainer sold to us for Max ,it has made a big difference to the way he walks on the lead We had to walk them to heel, sit them in front and walk round them with out them moving , sit them in front and walk backwards with them which is the start of them learning recall.
We had, to one at a time , weave our way round the other dogs making sure the dogs didn't touch or get distracted by each other ,Max did well doing that and i was quite surprised as he hasn't had much company of other dogs and i thought he would have wanted to have a good play with them, so we came away quite pleased with his first lesson and looking forward to the next five weeks.

Oh poor Ros with the gout ,and just as she has all the boxes to sort out to get the lounge straight again, .
Yes I'm afraid to say BIL is still getting some pain with his knee so it does take a while to be pain free Frank.

We had a look round this morning for large sacks of spuds ,they have shot up in price , £10 a bag this year !! £12 at one place last year they were £6 ,we didn't get one we thought we would see what the price is at the farm near the farm we get the eggs from ,theirs were the £6 ones last year.

Chicken Keiv for us tonight with salad .

Good old Max not showing you up like the other dog did to his mistress Mandy. Sounds like you both enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next time you go.

Iv'e just dropped a big slodge of jam on the carpet so had to give it a wash and a wipe.

The young buzzard has been on the west lawn all afternoon. I am not sure what he is finding to eat but he must like them to still be there. Probably daddy long legs I should think.

Not sure what we are having tonight but most probably sausages.

Jane Report 7 Oct 2016 19:50

Evening All

I hope Anne will have a lovely week away with family. I had a look at where she is staying and it looks very nice :-D

Frank, has Ros got tablets for the Gout? I hope the pain eases off soon.
So you managed to get the tables all put up :-D.I hate it when we have any kind of furniture that needs putting together. It is never straight forward :-S

Oh Good Boy Max :-D :-D.. He sounds like he is going to do well Mandy at the classes.I remember with my old Dodger doing exactly the same things as you did. There was always one dog that was a rascal lol.I found the classes quite exhausting and stressful and looked forward to a nice glass of wine when I got home :-D

Talking of hair slides and ribbons. I don't think I ever had any when I was a child.I was never allowed long hair .It was short and wavy and I had a parting on one side and the other side was held in place with a hair grip ,after Mum had pressed my wave in with her hand. The first time I had long hair was when I was about 16 after I left school. It was long then until I started Nursing in my mid twenties and then I had it short. It has been short ever since.I think if I was to grow it long again now it would be naturally wavy again.

Mel that Jam should have been on your scone and not on the floor LOL What a waste.
Was it Strawberry?

We are all behind with dinner as a friend from down the road came with some of the last of her home grown Cucumbers. We haven't seen her for a while so she came in ,had a glass of wine and a good natter. Her OH is having his first hip replacement done in a couple of weeks. He has just taken early retirement from General Practice.I think he is about 58.

Mandy that is a massive increase in price for a sack of spuds!!.I only buy small bags.
Even then I sometimes have to chuck some out when they begin to sprout .

Thomas is late coming in tonight .I think I had better go and do my whistle :-D

Annx Report 7 Oct 2016 21:19

Evening All,

It's been dry here all day but quite overcast. Beading this morning.......another bracelet brainteaser, but we made a bit more progress than last week. :-) Mine is in white and silver.......a bit bridal! We are using beads I had never heard of this term.

Good boy Max!! I think you trying your best to keep him calm and not get over excited a lot of the time will have helped Mandy. They don't listen when they get too excited!! It was good he was focusing on you and not the other dogs in that exercise. It will be interesting to see how he is next week now he 'knows the ropes'.

I was in a quandry whether to go for my flu jab tomorrow as I still have a sore throat. When I rang to cancel it and said I probably needed to see the doctor again the receptionist said she had an appointment I could take at 4.15pm so off I went! It was a new doctor and I explained about me having these throats in the past and how before I'd been told to come straight down if I started to lose my voice and that I'd always needed antibiotics, but that I understood the reason for prescribing them less nowadays. She spoke to the partner who saw me about it a fortnight ago, asked more questions and agreed that I could try a weeks antibiotics to see if that does the trick before referring me to and ENT specialist. I'm to see her a week on Monday if it's no better.

Frank that's the 2 of you getting gout now! They used to say it was rich living. ;-) It's no joke though, I couldn't even bear the pressure of the carpet under my toe!! :-S

We're having quite a mild October so hopefully Anne will be lucky and have a nice break.

I had short hair cut straight all the way round at age 5 and, as Jane mentioned the parting in your hair, it seemed almost obligatory to have one. Wasn't it one side for boys and the other for girls? Mum still managed to tie a ribbon as it was all the same length and she would pull a bunch of hair back from the front, tie a ribbon high up and clip it each side of the ribbon. Later, I remember an alice band holding my hair back. Mum seemed obsessed with it being in my eyes. I had plaits then till I went to grammar school, when me and my friend who also had plaits both had our hair cut short as our mums thought it more grown up. It stayed short till I was aged 16 and, after many rows with mum who didn't want me to grow it, surprisingly, even dad chipped in and said to let me grow it!! It stayed long then or shoulder length until I was in my 40s.
