Morning all,

Nice and sunny here today and oh is out mowing already.

I have the shop to go to and then do my egg delivery to Em next door and she told me there is a craft fair on at the old peoples home up the road so I may pop in there this afternoon.

Frank

Frank Report 8 Oct 2016 10:55

Morning Mel, How are all my "girls" this morning, evening Kim.

Nice to see David popping in, short and sweet, but nice.

My knee didn't take any notice of the talking to I gave it yesterday. It had me up at 2.00 am till 4.30. It just won't stop throbbing down the outside of the knee. I wonder if I put a strong bandage round it, to keep it from moving would help. But there again it needs to move to exercise it.

Yes poor old Ros is suffering with the gout. Just like me she couldn't bear to have the sheet touching it. She has gone out in open toe sandals this morning, so hope she will be O.K.She has a five day supply of tablets, and if it's still playing up she has to contact the Dr.

Good news on the training front Mandy. I am sure he will come through with flying colours. Most Labs do train well. YOU CAN BUT HOPE <3 <3 <3 <3

s the new house for Hannah and her friends far from where she is now Jane. I expect to will get lumbered into helping with the move. !!! How is Thomas behaving ?? any more upset tummies . are you still being visited by the hedgehog ??

Must get a joint out of the freezer for tomorrow. When I went to get the cod out yesterday, I was amazed by how much meat we have in the garage freezer. PLUS the kitchen one is full as well. I have threatened Ros. what I will do if she brings anymore meats into the house, until I tell her :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0. Anybody need a joint ???

Shower and shave now, then I will peel a load of apples for the freezer.

Jane Report 8 Oct 2016 15:06

Afternoon Everyone
Hello David :-D

Don't mention the blooming Hedgehog Frank. It was another hose down of the patio again today. It's time for appearing at night is 9 o'clock .It races around the patio and then goes off down the lawn. But it must come back again during the night. The paving slabs are stained with streaks :-S :-S
Thomas is still gobbling down as many mice as he can find ,but no more sick thank goodness.(At least not in the house). He definitely doesn't seem to be straying too far from home though since his 'accident' and is always in by 8 at the latest. He gets shut in the lounge at night now so no waking me up in the early hours wanting to go out. I think he must have a play with his toys in the night last night as there were a couple out on the carpet this morning.

Hannah's new place is not too far from where she is now. We don't think we will be called on for the move as they will have to rent a van and Gareth has a car so he will be able to help. The area they are moving to is Stroud Green/Finsbury .The deposit for the house is so much !!!! £3,900 !!!!!! :-0 :-0..That is between the 3 girls.Plus a months rent up front. We have been called on to loan her her share of the deposit and then when she gets the deposit back from the house she is in now then she will pay us back.

We have loads of Apples on the tree ,but I can't freeze them untilI get the freezer fixed so they will have to stay on the tree for now.

Ann,I didn't realise you were still having trouble with your sore throat.Lets hope one more week of antibiotics will finally do the trick and then you won't need to see the ENT people.
I think you are right about partings in the hair being on different sides for boys and girls.
I wonder if it is the same these days.I doubt it.

It seems t o be getting darker here with some dodgy looking clouds .We had some rain this morning, the heavy drizzle kind. But it is very mild today.Short sleeves and I am still quite warm .
I have forgotten my Blood Donating Session :-S :-S.It should have been at 11.10 this morning. It isn't usually on a Saturday ,which is why I probably forgot.I always feel quite guilty if I miss it as I know blood is so badly needed.

The birds are on the window feeder looking in hopefully..(It is empty) so I will go and fill it up right now :-D

I forgot the craft fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MillymollyAmanda Report 8 Oct 2016 18:03

Afternoon all,

Wet here first thing then the sun got out and its been a really nice day ,we sat out this afternoon and the sun was really warm .

Did you remember to get your joint out of the freezer Frank?
Sounds as if your really stocked up with joints of meat , i buy joints when i see them on offer ,some times they are big ones so i cut them in half before freezing .

Were having roast chicken tomorrow ,tonight it's Cheese and Onion Quiche and Apple Crumble and custard for pud .

Oh thats a shame you forgot the craft fair Mel you might have got a few ideas of things you could make .

Gosh Jane thats a lot of money for the girls to find as a deposit and then a months rent on top ,she's lucky she has the bank of mum and dad to help, :-)

Ann i hope these antibiotics help your throat this time ,it has been hanging about a while now hasn't it ?
Sounds as if the beading teacher has moved you on to the harder beading this term , with lots of new beads too, white and silver go nicely together ,i'll look forward to seeing it when it's done .

Colin has had more feeling in his muscle's in his leg today i wonder if its because he has gone down to using the one crutch and he's now putting the leg muscle to more use .

Jane Report 8 Oct 2016 18:05

You forgetting the Craft Fair and me forgetting my blood donation ......what a pair we are :-S :-S
James is off out for the evening shortly .We are having Scampi and Chips and roast mediterranean veg. Peas would be better but these veg need cooking so I can't waste them .

Gill is still not posting. I hope she is ok ...Is it this weekend that Liz is busy too?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Oct 2016 18:13

Not sure about Liz but Gill has her daughter coming this month so she may be there already. I can't remember when she said Michelle was comin g.

Us forgetting things and we had the outside light go last week, two days later the other outside light went on the front of the bungalow. Thought to myself which one was going to be next and lo and behold the little loo went the night before last and it was dark again before I remembered to ask oh to replace it for me. He did though so now I am all lit up again. :-D :-) :-D :-) :-D :-)

Annx

Annx Report 8 Oct 2016 18:18

Evening All,

But why not David........it's trendy now y'know. ;-)

Oh no Mel! It's the sort of thing I do at times and then you can kick yourself after. :-

Oh dear, so Mr Squits has been back Jane and left calling cards! He must appreciate you hosing down for him. Crikey, that's a hefty deposit needed for Hannah and the girls. Yes, the throat wasn't improving, but these are the first antibiotics for it. The doctor I saw before said it just needed more time, being a virus. These antibiotics have needed me to do a chart!! There's 2 to take 4 times a day and you can't eat for an hour before you have them or for 2 hours after.......not much time left for eating and it clashes with lunchtime however I plan it!! I think we'll be eating at home tomorrow.

Are you nearly there now Frank with things back in their places? ;-) ;-) It's a shame you can't get a good night's rest just now. Would it help if you bandaged it just at night do you think?

When we came home this morning, Hello Kitty was hotfooting it along the pavement . We soon saw why...........the most recent cat arrival in the close (black and white) was sitting on the fence further up and it looked like there was going to be a punch up!!

I've had a nice lazy afternoon while OH went to a match, just doing a bit of this and that.

Jane

Jane Report 8 Oct 2016 20:08

We have just put the outside light on out the back in the hope of getting a pic of Mr Squits tonight :-D. I suggested we leave a toilet roll out for it :-D :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Oct 2016 21:29

Ours have been and eaten a lot of food.

Oh tells me there are a lot of calling cards up by the caravan.

So who do you all like on X Factor? I like that Matt Terry and the three boys. I only watch it because oh watche sit.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Oct 2016 11:26

Morning all,

We have sunshine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AGAIN. I really can't believe it and I slept late after not being able to sleep again last night.

Must go and feed the wild birds as I now have a few about. I think they must all have been moulting and hiding away. My bald Robin is now fully feathered once again ready for the onslaught of winter. I did'nt think he was going to grow feathers he looked so tatty.

Tattiana was growoing some feathers on her back but yesterday they were gone again.

Frank

Frank Report 9 Oct 2016 12:49

Afternoon all, from a very lazy boy !!!

Here we are after 12.00 Noon and i am still sitting AROUND IN MY DRESSING GOWN. Ros is in the garden trimming more bushes with her new "TRIMMER". I am in charge of keeping an eye on the green tomato chutney simmering away on the gas. Boy what a smell. The vinegar fumes get right down your throat :-| :-| :-|

I see you are having a great time with your hog Jane, :-P :-P :-P Good old Mum and Dad helping out with the deposit. What is the monthly rent going to be ?? I forgot there is a "BOYFRIEND" to help with the move. That will save your poor old backs !!!

Mel, I watch X factor only because it's on, but I couldn't tell one from another, apart from those two "BOYS"?? of Louis. I think they are taking a place of someone with a lot more talent. And as for that "RAPPER" I will say no more :-\ :-\ :-\

Well it looks like Anne is getting a nice bit of weather for her trip to Rye. Hope she's enjoying the break.

We keep having bulbs go around the bungalow. We had three candle type go in the centre light last week. Have you tried buying "old fashioned" bulbs ?? I managed to get some on Ebay, but not a lot of choice.

I can smell the chutney, See you later.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Oct 2016 14:29

I must admit these new light bulbs I do NOT understand. I buy the old type if I can in bulk!!

Yes if Anne has the same weather as we have it should be a good break for her. Hope Amy is having nice walks too in a different place. Lots more smells to investigate.

Jane Report 9 Oct 2016 15:31

Afternoon Everyone
Hose down on the patio again today ,plus there was a dead rat too !!!!.Chris is getting thoroughly fed up with the Hog mess now. He looks like that Grumpy Cat LOL
He didn't want me to feed the Hog ,but I bought a small bag of Hedgehog food this morning and will try putting some in a little dish right down the bottom of the garden by what we call the barn.
I pong :-S..Have been in the kitchen for almost 2 hrs making this Kosheri Dish. It is Green Lentils.Basmati Rice,Vermicelli ,Fried Onions,Nutmeg,Cinnamon and Chicken Stock. It is a bit of a performance to do but it does taste so good.
I now have to make a Tomato Sauce with chopped Garlic ,Cumin and Cider Vinegar :-S...But I need a sit down before I begin that. I have a Chicken Crown with a Spicy Rub to go with this Kosheri...Lord knows what my tummy will be like afer all the spices and onions :-S.. I don't think I am going out anywhere tomorrow :-)

I bought a load of Pansies and Violas this morning but I shall put them in tomorrow probably.

I don't think we have any more of the old type of light bulbs now. I know Fitz bought a whole lot (and cleared a shop ) of old style ones not long ago.I suppose we just have to get used to the new ones.
Frank I think the rent for Hannah and the girls is between £625/650 per month excluding bills.!!!. I am just glad Hannah has got the funding for her Clinical training which will just about cover everything. There is just such a shortage of affordable rental properties in London.Anything decent that comes up for rent is snapped up in a flash. I just hope that this new place is as nice as it looks.
I wouldn't be surprised if we get a call from Hannah to ask us to collect Cardboard Boxes again for her packing up.I have lost count now the number of times we have driven to London with boxes etc for her.

The clouds look like they are building up here now after a lovely sunny day so far.

Mel is Tattiana's new feathers being pulled out by the others?
We have a male Blackbird with a bald head !!. The rest of him looks really tatty too.I jsut don't understand why he has now covering on his head.Poor thing looks a right mess :-(

I only watched a bit of X Factor last night. Frank the rapper is HONEY G ! :-S I say no more :-|

I better get this Hedgehog food in a little dish and find somewhere to put it.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Oct 2016 16:09

Jane do you have a mushroom crate anywhere you cold cut a bit out of each end to make a doorway then put something heavy on top like a couple of bricks or a paving slab. Thats way no cats can get to the food as they will eat it if you leave it in the open.

Can't stand Honey G either.

I think Tattiana pecks her own feather out!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shall have to find my vetinary wound powder and see if I can give her a puff of that all over her back. Even the little soft under feather that came out near her tail has gone this morning.

magpie Report 9 Oct 2016 17:34

Hello! Just to let you know we're ok!! We've been busy/ out a lot lately, grabbing the last of the fine weather! It's next month we've got visitors and will be away for a week, so I won't be around much then either!! No X factor here as you can imagine! I think it would cause a divorce in this house! Luckily we both feel the same!!!
We've had low level light bulbs for years now!! They're fine once you get used to them, and they're much easier on the electricity bill!
Today OH has picked and stored all our cooking and eating apples! Also he's dug the maincrop potatoes and put them in sacks so they're now stored too. I've been pruning and generally preparing the garden for winter, we hope to have all the jobs done by the end of this month!
Nothing of any particular interest happened here, Cas is her usual cheerful self! Shooting starts in November so that'll make her happy!!

Jane Report 9 Oct 2016 18:07

Hi Liz I thought it was now you had your visitors. You have been busy with Apples and Potatoes.I think this year has been good for our apples .Eaters and Cookers.
No more potatoes for us this year .Our Garlic is not really up to scratch. But I have used the first couple of cloves today and they do look ok :-D. Not as big and plump as they should be though. In fact some things have not been as good this year.A few various veg have come to nothing much at all. Very disappointing :-S
