Afternoon all,
Dry here but its been really cloudy all the morning ,i have hung washing out but its a very slow dry .
My nephew is doing well he is now out of critical care and on a ward , he is eating and drinking and has stood up for a few minutes , he did have a problem when his blood pressure shot up , when they gave him some thing for that it made his heart race but they soon got it sorted out. He should be in for about two weeks and then i think he his going to live with my sister for a week or two rather than go back to his house and be on his own. I told you he was in Adinbrookes but it not its Papworth .
Dog training went very well , this week we did recall , Debbie held Max's lead and i had to walk away turn and call him to me , i thought oh here we go he will go straight to the other dogs , when called him he came straight to me first time so i was really pleased , the laying down didn't go as well he will sit lovely but laying down he will not do , so a bit of practise is needed on that one.
Ann if it is the plastic thats caused the problem on the washer you've saved a call out to get it sorted , like Mel said i would do a practise wash just to see if it was that ,better than getting a load of washing stuck in there .
Mel i haven't forgotten your hedgehog i will get round to it but we seem to have had a busy week .
So not such a good night with your knee last night thenFrank , it just needs time to heal inside , DIL'S father has to have another new knee he's had one done now the other one needs doing he saw the surgeon this week and he told him he would do it in about a months time so thats not to long to wait .
Mel have you got any Surgical Spirit ? thats what i use to get that sticky glue off any thing it works a treat.
Shepherds pie for us tonight with lots of veg.

Mandy it sounds like Max is going to be fairly easy to train. He is doing well just after 2 sessions.I don't think I ever managed to get Chester to 'LIE' Glad to hear your Nephew is doing well after his major op :-D.
Frank,I haven't been over to Beckworth for ages.I expect all the Christmas stuff is in there now. I don't think Ann knows Beckworth. It is just me that has been there. I can picture you marching up and down the lounge just like the Grand old Duke of York :-D :-D
Ann have you tried the machine now? I hope it was just that plastic. It sounds quite possible. My door catch is brilliant now :-)
I have been to order the flooring for the bathroom this afternoon.(twice).I thought that they would come and measure but we had to do it first and take the measurements in and be given the cost.I have paid a deposit and someone will be here on Sunday morning to measure properly .Then fitting on November 2nd. So thats another job sorted :-D My ears right deep inside are so itchy. Not even a waggle of the finger can reach. So I think it has to be an antihistamine.
Still no Gill !!!.

Bet you have a cold coming Jane.
Mandy no rush for the hog as it is for a Christmas present for aunty Joy. Pleased to hear your nephew is getting on ok and that he can stay with your sister for a couple of weeks. Best not to be on your own for a while. Max was a good boy going straight to you at the training classes. You will have to practice the laying down bit at home.
Must get on with dinner as I have just seen the time. I have the meat in the oven but now I thinkit will be new pots and veg.

No I don't think it is a cold Mel .It felt like a Hayfever type of itch. The anti histamine has done the trick :-D I have just been out with my head torch on and put the Hedgehog food down the garden.I am still moving it a bit further down the side of the big hedge every night. The bowl is empty every morning so I am hoping it is the Hog that is eating it. Thomas was in very early tonight. It must be the darker nights .He came in at 5.30 which was really early ,had feed , a little nap and then went out again .But was back by 6.30 !! So that is him in now for the night .I expect he will want a bit of a play later when he suddenly gets the wind up his tail.No doubt it will be when I am watching something on telly :-S

Morning all Evening Kim,
Yet another bad night. I think I will have a day off from exercise, to see if it settles down a bit. The number of times I was in and out last night, it's a wonder Ros got any sleep. I feel like a wet week at the moment, and ready for some zzzzz.
Pleased your nephew is coming through his operation and going to recoup at your sisters, much better than trying to cope on his own. Well done to MAX what a good boy he was. The lying down can be done at home, where there is less distraction.
Jane I thought you met Ann at Beckworth, but on thinking about it is it Market Harborough ???
Ros has just gone to meet Martine for their Saturday Shopping and natter. I will be here when she gets home. I just couldn't attempt walking to the pub.
Is Gills daughter staying this week ???

Morning all,
Bright now but first thing was really drizzly and a bit misty , Colin has his six month appointment at the hospital to have his ears sucked out ,i have noticed he has got really deaf lately so it will be a good job done .
Neil is doing fine ,the surgeon said that the value wouldn't have lasted must longer , we're all saying that if he hadn't had the stroke he wouldn't have been here now so although he has lost the sight in the one eye through the stroke at least he's still here.
I hope Gil is ok ,it's quite a while since we last heard from her.

Good morning all
We arrived back from Sussex yesterday afternoon, We were lucky with the weather. The cottage was one of the best we have stayed in, so well equipped you could live there without needing to provide anything and very warm as well. The downside was Amy wasn't at all well and we had to visit a local vet in Battle, he gave her an injection of steroids and an antibiotic plus some more in pill form for a few days as well as taking her temperature and listening to her heart and lungs which all were ok. I was amazed that I only had to pay £38.00, I wish our vet was that reasonable but she is with Pet Plan fortunately.
I haven't yet managed to catch up on the posts except to see Frank is still in pain with his knee, perhaps resting it today as you said will give you a better night's sleep Frank.
I now have to do a little bit of ironing just shirts and blouses that we wore on holiday.

Misty Morning All,
Well I put some cleaner in the washer and ran it through with just that ......no clothes like some of you suggested and it did spin. I still think something (else) is not quite right though as it was making a knocking sound as if the drum wasn't spinning true? :-0 I'm trying it with a load in later to see if it is any better with a bit of weight, but it's always been a noisy machine and I may not have noticed this extra 'knocking' before. :-S Doesn't the time fly though as I said to OH we have had it for 8 years now!
That's good your nephew is doing well Mandy. As you say, it is lucky they have been able to sort what's wrong before something much worse happened. He's been through a lot so a bit of TLC and not being on his own till he's better will do him good. Max is doing well at his class and I expect doing better than some of the other dogs. With the lie down do they get you to get him to sit and then hold a treat near the ground? As Frank says, a bit of practice in the quiet at home will help him get the hang of it. He seems a quick learner and eager to please you. :-)
Well, I finished the last bracelet last night so will send a pic. I still haven't finished the ones from the previous 2 weeks though, but might get them done this week with there being no class next Friday as it's half term. I'm trying to make more things this term to go with all the black and blue I tend to wear in winter, instead of being like a magpie and drawn to all the bright colours and sparkle!!! :-)
Yes it is Mkt Harborough where I meet Jane Frank. I haven't been to Beckworth yet! OH has been to one or two matches lately where Blisworth were playing!! In fact I have a feeling Blisworth are one of the teams where he is going to today! I think a day's rest might be good for your knee. You have to do what you can when you can and they can only take so much at the moment.
Nice you are back now Anne and the cottage sounds really cosy and like being at home as you say. It is the reason we keep going to the same place in Cornwall each year.....home from home! It's a shame Amy was unwell though. I hope she is ok now. I don't know how anyone manages without pet insurance these days.

Pleased you had a nice holiday Anne but it was a shame Amy was ill. Is she recovered now? That was'nt a bad amount for the vets bill.
Ann it sounds to me as though the belt on the drum of your washer needs replacing if the drum is banging on the sides with nothing in it.
I took the garland to the boys and they were delighted :-D :-D :-D I think it will be put up over the ager in the kitchen. Emma was at a sale in aid of the Baby Bears play group so she has'nt seen it yet.
We've had a latish lunch and now I have a load of ironing to do.

Glad you enjoyed your time away Anne ,poor Amy is she better now ? Were you able to get out and about ? the vets bill was very good you would have thought it would have been twice that amount .
Does sound like it might be the belt on your washer Ann if its rattling about . Looking forward to seeing the bracelet.
Well i thought i woukd make a cake ,looked for my vanilla essence ,didn't have any so i thought i would give the cupboard a good clear out :-0 the first thing i chucked out was a tin of baking powder .....dated 2012 !!! out went lots of odd packets of nuts , brown sugars , semolina, bolsamic vinegar, savory rice , old jar of mince meat and lots more bits ,i can now stock the cupboard ready for the winter.
I bet the boys were pleased with the garland Mel ,did they want to hang it up now?
Few spits of rain here now .

Afternoon All Welcome home Anne. I am glad your cottage was a success. It did look lovely.Poor Amy.I hope she is on the mend now and that her meds will get her back to full health again. It must have been a big worry for you.But what a great price you paid at the Vets. That was extremely good value.
Ann it does sound like your machine has gone off kilter a bit if it is knocking.Hopefully it will put itself right .Maybe the drum just needs rebalancing.8 years these days for an electrical household machine is not bad.I was told that 10 yrs is really the most we can expect these days. Not like 'the old days' when everything lasted for ever.
Frank ,yes it is Market Harbourough where Ann and I meet up with Fitz. The next time will probably be Feb/March time :-D. Is the knee any easier this afternoon?Maybe you did too much marching yesterday :-)
Well I am bushed.I have spent the last hour on my hands and knees with the Spot Cleaner on the lounge carpet.Honestly the number of stains was bad.I think it is people being sloppy with mugs of tea and coffee. Also you should have seen under the chair where Chris sits at the dining table ! :-0..You would think it was a baby or toddler who sits there lol.Anyway I have done it all nowand have to say it all looks a lot cleaner :-D I hoovered all downstairs first and managed to suck up a dog poo bag :-S :-S..I use them for putting Thomas's used litter in.But one had slipped out of the pack down the side of the welsh dresser and when I poked the hoover pipe in UP IT WENT.Thankfully it didn't get stuck and it went right into the plastic dust container.Good opportunity to empty it :-D. The last of my Pansies are in ..You will never guess what I almost did AGAIN.... Yes nearly planted them in a pot that Chris had already put bulbs in :-S :-S....I was sure he had told me there were 2 pots for me.But apparently NO just one.At least I didn't get as far as disturbing bulbs today. Made an Apple and Blackberry Crumble for tonight, done a load of washing and now I am not doing anything else until dinner. Chris has finished painting the bathroom and is waxing the doors.I must remember the man is coming to measure up for the flooring tomorrow morning.
The sun has been shining all day but it looks like ther might be some big clouds looming now.Considering it is the middle of October already it is still quite mild.
Mel it is dry skin making your hands itchy?Slap on a load of moisturiser . I hope it isn't those red itchy bumps that you had last year.Or have you been in contact with something to make them itchy?
I have a pile of ironing on the dining table which I was going to take upstairs and do.But I can't be bothered now.Tomorrow will do :-D I will have to go and have a look at he bathroom when Sir has finished.I just stay well out of the way when he is decorating .
My Gt Nephew Finn (Janice's grandson ) has just had the results of his 11 plus and he has passed :-D :-D.So he will be going the the Grammar School in Gloucester next year.He has had extra tutoring for the exam. The only reason is that there is no choice of senior school for him and his Mum didn't doesn't think the school he would go to is good enough. So I imagine Finn is a very proud boy today :-D I didn't do the 11 plus as it was the first year for Comprehensive Schools and I went to that.Knowing how lazy I was I probably wouldn't have passed anyway :-S
Just seen the exciting finish to the Ladies World Cycling ! How they do this race in that heat I have no idea....... just a tad fitter than me ;-)

I will polish my gold star Mel before heading out in pouring rain to put the Hedgehog food out ..Need to find some rubber shoes first though to tramp down the lawn and find the place under the hedge to put the bowl of food. The batteries in the head torch are nearly gone and I don't think we have any spares. I will have to get a hand held torch once this rain eases off. No way am I going down there right now.
Strictly on now :-D

Good Morning All
Just cooking the Sunday roast beef and the Veg is all ready to go. It's been torrential rain for about an hour but the sun has started to come out now. Amy is back to her normal self thank goodness, she had her last dose of medicine yesterday, so hope she stays well otherwise it will be a trip to our vets.
Mel,you are lucky being able to have the deer on your land, we have them over the forest but since they have Go Ape over there now they have moved deeper in nearer to Caesar's camp it's an Iron Age hill fort and I don't think the Romans ever went there.
Hope you had a better night's sleep Frank.
