Enjoy your appointment Jane as I know you always do.

Cleaned both bathroom and little loo and hoovered the kitchen. Just having a coffee before clearing up round the back door. I wonder how much this is going to cost me??? the new back door or do we have an outside door put on the porch??

Afternoon All,

Mandy I have tried the pillow but I tend to move a lot in bed, so it doesn't work very well.

Ros is down the garden still cutting up the branches from the Cherry tree.

Nothing happening here, so won't bore you with a load of rubbish.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Well he has been and gone and after a load of talk and looking at the koi and lots of fish chatter he gave me a price which I did'nt like, over £1000 so I am having to think about it.

Jane Report 28 Oct 2016 17:32

I did enjoy my hair cut.it had grown so much in the last 5 weeks !!.It feels much better and looks much better too now.
When I got home and got out of the car I could smell a burning kind of smell. At first I thought it might be something next door was burning in their wood burner. But it was in fact coming from the back wheel arch of my car.It smelled like very hot burning rubber :-S :-S..I got Chris to come out and stick his nose under there just to make sure I wasn't imagining it..So I am now without my car.It is at the Renault Garage :-(.I was a bit concerned about driving it there so Chris followed me closely all the way there.I have noticed a strange noise just lately ,so that has been noted too.
I doubt that the car will be looked at until Monday now so it is going to be some days without it.Thankfully I drive Chris's.
So that is the Freezer caput and the car so far today.I reckon it will be the boiler next as the pump in the airing cupboard has been making some very weird noises.
The other thing we are going to have to look at tomorrow is a waste pipe that runs along the ceiling in the garage. It is boxed in with chip board but yesterday I noticed there is a biggish patch of black mouldy looking stuff on one of the woodchip boards :-S :-S.Al that will have to be unscrewed so we can get to the pipe.I dread to think what we might find...It could well be a call out to Home Serve...Heaven help us !!!! I don't need yet another leaky thing. If it is not one thing it another
:-|
The only positive thing is we won't have to pay for the new freezer and my car is still under Warranty :-D

Mel it will be nice to get a new door. What kind is it.Wood or the other kind?

Last episode of The Fall tonight. Is anyone else watching this? I have found it very slow this series. Also all the speech is slow and so blooming quiet.I have to really concentrate to get it all.It has been driving me barmy.

I'm doing a Beef and Mushroom Orzo Risotto tonight. Another new dish .I have just sliced the Beef,Mushrooms and Onions so can't do anymore for now.I hope it tastes as good as it looks in the picture. It better do :-D

A £1,000 for a door !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....Sheesh Mel is it made of gold?

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 28 Oct 2016 18:14

Blimey Mel i should think you had to sit down when he told you the price , thats a lot for a door , if i were you i would get some more prices so you can compare prices.

I wonder whats wrong with your car Jane , i hate driving the car when you know its not right , did you have any warning lights come on ? We have little symbols that light up on the dashboard then we have to get book out to see what they mean.

Lovely sky out there again tonight .

Frank Report 28 Oct 2016 18:52

I thought I would check up on you lot, to see that you are behaving ;-) ;-) ;-)

Jane it sounds like the rear disc is sticking, that would give off a burning smell. You don't seem to have things going your way do you my love ??? Take a deep breath xx

Mel, A front door for over a £1,000.00 sounds to me as if he's trying to have you paying through the nose. Try a few company's to compare quotes. Is it wooded or plastic ??

Ros got a BARGAIN at Tesco. On the reduced counter was a Chicken Crown reduced from £5.00 to £2.00 I cooked it tonight with Roasts, Parsnips, Runners Brussels and peas and carrots. There is half still left, so that with be a nice sandwich
tomorrow.

Screen is on the move again, so I had better get off.

magpie Report 28 Oct 2016 19:30

Good Lord Mel, that's a tad expensive for a door!!!!! I'd certainly get another quote or two!!
Oh dear Jane! It's awful when a car develops a problem! you expect all sorts of expensive horrors, at least it's still under warranty. Was your freezer under guarantee as well? Not more water!!! please NO!! Yes, we've been watching The Fall! Very sinister, tonight all should be revealed! You're right about it being difficult to hear! They don't speak up and mumble badly! Its really irritating!
We've just had our supper, bacon, chips, egg and beans!! Full of cholesterol, but delicious!

Annx Report 28 Oct 2016 19:34

Evening All,

Mel, I think that price would shock anyone! I would have thought one costing a third less would be a good one. Are you going to get some more quotes?

What a nuisance Jane. I hope something catching your tyre hasn't ruined it with the rubber you could smell. :-S Good idea to get them to check that noise you can hear too. The mould on the cladding boards in the garage does sound like something is leaking onto them. Hopefully it will be easy to sort out with catching it early. I bet you are glad not to have had the injection, but it's good you can just go back if needs be. Why don't you have to pay for a new freezer......is it still under warranty then?

I have felt chillier than OH a couple of days this week which is most unlike me, but the penny dropped yesterday and I think it may be to do with my flu jab! This year's jab has left quite a bump!! OH gets his done at Sainsbury's Jane as he's too young for a free one, but it's only about £10 I think. I haven't watched The Fall this time......I've still got recordings of Paranoid to watch though.

Another brain teaser with the bracelet at class today, especially when you are also listening to the chat around you. Someone thought it looked quite 'art deco' so I was pleased as I like that jewellery. Some are off to the NEC Craft Fair which has beads in November but I think I will have to give it a miss this time as I don't really need anything!! Tempting though, but tiring with all the walking.

So Max has had a 'holiday' from class this week. I hope he remembers his lessons when he goes back. Does he have homework Mandy?

My knees have played up the last 2 days........been standing up carefully like a little old man!! I know what's done it, it's all the standing while I was out with my sister the other day!! We were commenting when I saw her how the white cars we have seem to attract small black flies all over them at the moment and she rang me yesterday to say some had got into her car and bitten her!!

Jane

Jane Report 28 Oct 2016 19:45

No warning lights Mandy.I kept looking at the dash board to see if anything flashed up.

FRank ,interesting you mention the brakes.I have thought my brakes have been a bit odd and jumpy lately.

James is home and eaten and is now driving down to somewhere in the Cotswolds to meet up with an old school friend. He has no idea where it is at the moment .But I have just googled it and need to have a look at the best route.
The place is called Lakes by Yoo Gloucestershire !!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Oct 2016 22:00

Jane I was going to say brakes too. You hav'nt driven away with the hand brake still on have you? Brakes alway stink.

Oh was watching the practice laps for the grand prix so I missed the start of The Fall so I am going to watch it later. I agree that the sound was funny and oh can't stand the girl he says she always looks like she has sucked a lemon.

Not more leaks Jane I bet you are really fed up with all this now. I hope its not too drastic when you take the boards off.

The actual quote for the door was from Anglian which is who we had the windows done by 20 years ago and we hav'nt had any trouble with them. Then mum had all the soffits and facsher (sp) boards done and we had a leaflet through the door via the postman saying 50% off some things so thats why I rang them. Oh looked on the pc and could get a door and frame for about 560 but I did'nt like that one as it had coloured glass in it in a pattern and look cheap to me. The actual quote I was given was £1320 which he said he had taken down from £1532. They try to make it sound good because you were an existing customer. Rubbish is what I say. The windows have been really good and none of them have ever misted up inside like some can.

Morning all,

Another dull and dreary day here. Plenty of grey clouds in the sky and no chance of any of the yellow thing.

I went to bed with a headache and in the night I woke up hot, never got up to go to the bathroom AT ALL and still have a bit of a headache this morning. Been sneezing too. I have either got a cold or fluish symtoms and I hav'nt had my flu jab yet.

Good morning sweet things, evening to our Kim,

Kim, How is the baby doing ?? I haven't seen anything on FB.
I
Mel the weather is just the same here. Very overcast, and looking like rain.

Had a call from Jan, the ladders arrived last Wednesday and she has been using them to clean the central lights in the rooms. The ceilings must be 20 foot high. She rang again this morning when I was in the shower.I ran into the lounge STARKERS and dripping wet. I picked up the phone and she had RUNG OFF. She said the baubles arrived two layers of six,Very poorly packed with a fine film of plastic over each layer. When she opened them TWO are broken. Ros will have to get in touch with QVC and make a complaint, and get replacements.

I don't think I will be going to Kettering tonight. I was up until 4.00 am this morning. The knee just wouldn't let me get comfortable in bed. I did manage to sleep till 9.00 when Ros bought me a COT. My friend says it will be noisy with all the 50s and 60s music , so that won't go down well with me.

What are you all doing today ??

Ros has a total of FIFTEEN bags of cuttings to get rid of. They will have to be emptied into bins, as they won't take plastic. I will knock on neighbours doors to ask if we can use the spare room in their bins. Raver than take liberties which you know I wouldn't do . ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Oct 2016 11:48

So you have some walking to do going to the neighbours Frank. That should give you a bit of excise for the knee. Frank if you can't have a pillow to rest your knee on in bed what about trying a cushion. You could probably move around that a bit more.

I have to do my usual egg delivery to next door and go to the shop for the paper and a nice pack of Cornish butter that I like. After that I am going to have a play with my pom poms.

I fed the chickens and when I came back in oh had done some toast. It smelt lovely when I walked in. I have turned the heating on for a litlle while today to take the chill off the house. Its warmer outside than in today.

The leaves are falling off the trees likek rain today in the gentle breeze. It all sou nd autumnial if thats the right word. The colours change even during the day on certain trees and plants.

Afternoon all,

Happy Birthday David <3

Well we must be having the best of the weather , we've had a lovely sunny morning so warm we sat out and had coffee, it's now clouded over but still quite muggy .

We have the family coming for lunch tomorrow so i have been getting all the veg prepared ,once they get here in the morning it will be bedlam as they all want to tell me things at the same time so i thought i would get ahead with things.

Thats not very good just flimsy packing like that over baubles Frank ,now Ros has the job of ringing to get replacements i suppose.
Yes try a small cushion behind your knee Frank that might help , a pillow is a bit on the big side to have under the knee .

Hope your not coming down with some thing Mel , you have a rest and play with your Pom Poms :-)
