Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Oct 2016 17:07

Happy Birthday David. Hope you have had a nice day and enjoyed your presents. <3

The sun sort of came out here and it has been a nice afternoon. I had a little fiddle with my pom poms Mandy then thought I better go out and clean the girls out so I have just come in and made a COT and am having it with a nice piece of lemon drizzle and a small piece of walnut cake. I think I have earned it.

I next want to make some Nordic Gnomes.

Afternoon All,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID! I hope it's been a good one up to now. :-)

An extra hour in bed tomorrow thank goodness!! :-) OH and I were too hot last night Mel. I nearly got up and pushed the window open wider.

OH is at footie this afternoon and I have been to see one of the local Art Club's exhibitions. They are usually free but this one was charging a pound but it was all going to a cancer charity which is good. It was up a narrow windy lane, only wide enough for one car , but I was lucky and didn't meet anything coming the other way. When I left I had to get out of the car and move all the balloons that had blown into the road in front of me. I hate balloons too, even touching them! :-0

Frank I don't know how Ros and you manage to do all that you do do! 15 bags of twigs!! OH often will take about 11 bags to the tip but it takes me a while to fill them. Did I see you say you were RUNNING into the lounge?? With your bad knee? Tut tut I can hear auntie Mel having a word in your ear!! lol. ;-)

We have been left a ticket from someone trying to deliver a parcel. The depot is at East Midlands Airport! It took me a while for the penny to drop that it must be OH's genealogy DNA test I have ordered. I'll have to rearrange delivery. I have traced 3 rellies with mine now.

Playing with your pom poms sounds a bit naughty Mel! ;-)

Oh what a day :-S
Fitz's OH called in this morning to say that Fitz was admitted to hospital yesterday afternoon as he could barely move with the pain he has had, plus his right foot had dropped and his leg was numb.
It appears he might have something called Cauda Aquinas Syndrome.Something quite rare but potentially serious. It is to do with the bundle of nerves at the base of the spine which bulge and are compressed. It seems likely that Surgery is on the cards for him.Chris says this is usually done either in Oxford or Leicester. It is all very worrying.
I hope to see him tomorrow but will wait for any news from Georgette.I just hope that whatever needs doing for him will be asap and that he gets all feeling back in his leg and foot.It could be a long road.
One positive thing is that he has the annexe at home (where his Mum was),so there is a bedroom and full bathroom and sitting room. The kitchen is right next door and all on the same ground level.

My Nephew in law lost a friend yesterday to CJD.He was only 50 and had only been ill for 5 weeks..........So a rotten day really news wise.

The 'leak' was coming from our shower(we believe) so Chris has removed all the sealant and redone that.I am not sure how good a job he has done so it is a waiting game and fingers crossed.I suppose at least it wasn't a big plumbing job.
The boiler and pump seem to still be working but there is something weird going on.
I lit the Woodburner just incase the heating didn't come on. But it has and now its boiling lol
I haven't read todays posts yet (sorry).

Blimey Jane what an awful day you've had! I am really sorry to hear not only of the illness but loss to CJD. It's a terrible disease, really horrible. Sympathies all round.
Hope the repair holds too!!
Nothing to report from here. Cas is picking up on Tuesday which will hopefully knacker her! OH has been asked to take her to another shoot that has just been set up about 10 miles away! Hope she behaves!!
Tomorrow we're planning a bonfire!!!

Oh Jane what a worring time for Fitz and his family and for you as a good friend ,i had a google and it does sound serious, i hope some thing can be done but as you say it could be a long job , good that they have those rooms all at ground level.

Yes we mustn't forget to change the clocks tonight ,I'm looking forward to the extra hour too Ann , i'm wondering how Max will be he's usually waking about seven which is not to bad but with the clock change it might be six now !!!
Yes he has home work Ann :-D we have to practice what we do from the last week, he's getting very good coming to heel when he comes towards me ,i just swing my hand round to the back and he comes round ,he doesn't always sit right beside my leg as he should but he does sit down.
He will also sit and stay while i walk round him and sit and stay while i walk away then turn and call him to me , so we are getting there with him , he still get so excited when anyone comes so i just do as the trainer suggested and put his harness on and that keeps him calmer.

Of course Cas will behave Liz look at that dear little face she a little darling, i bet she will soon get into the swing of it and remember going last year and do well for her dad.

magpie Report 29 Oct 2016 20:28

Max sounds as if he is coming on really well Mandy. We found with Millie that puppy classes made all the difference as she was a bit assertive with other dogs, not nasty but over exuberant!! Cas is very different, she tends to be quite submissive, and a bit apprehensive, especially with big Jasper!!!
Calder Equinus sounds quite serious. Like Mandy, I've looked it up and apparently it needs getting on top of asap. At last he's in the right place Jane.
We're watching an Australian prog on BBC4 at 9, slightly scary, but good!

What a shame Fitz is having these problems Jane. I had a google too and It does sound as if it's something to be dealt with quickly. It is good that he can use the annex and not have to cope with the stairs at home though. Give him my best wishes when you see him won't you. I bet the nurses will find him a handful!! :-) lol. CJD is a terrible thing to get. I wonder if it was from BSE?

Max seems to be coming along nicely Mandy. He's bound to get too excited at times with being so young and they listen to NOTHING then, but it's good you are getting tips on how best to deal with him. Have you been watching the puppy prog?

It's been Diwali fireworks every night this week, then the bonfire night ones will start next!

O goodness Jane what a terrible thing to happen and it must be so frightening for poor Fitz.

Morning all,

Not a bad start to the day here as we have a warm breezey wind and sunshine.

Hope you all enjoyed your extra hour in bed this morning. Oh said everyone had an hour in bed except me who had two.!!!

Nothing to report yet today only that oh mowed up all the leaves in the orchard yesterday and its covered in leaves this morning and said it was my fault! There's still apples on one tree and no leaves which does look strange.

Jane have you heard from Georgette to see how Fitz is?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Oct 2016 14:17

Have you all got lost??????????????????????????

I thought of something last night and don't know if any of you will have played at a party. We had a Christmas party every year when I was small. One of the games we played was The Flour Game. You had a pile of flour that had been packed into a large pudding basin and placed on a plate like a big sand pie and on the top was placed a sweet. Each player had to cut a bit off the flour cake with a knife without knocking the sweet off. The last player to knock the stack down and the sweet fell had to pick it up in their teeth.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 30 Oct 2016 15:12

Afternoon all,

Family gone home now ,think everyone enjoyed the roast as most plates were empty , poor little Lewis nearly feel asleep as he was eating .

Very foggy this morning ,cleared during the day but its now getting foggy again.

Any news on Fitz today Jane ?

Haven't heard of that game Mel, did it get a bit messy with all the flour ? :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Oct 2016 16:10

Yes mandy sometimes but the basin of flour was set on a large plate on a big tray.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Oct 2016 16:13

You know I said about hearing a rifle shot the other night at 25 to 11 well David the builder called today with the tray of poppies and he has a shoot around here so I asked him and he told me it was osmeone else who shot a fox so I am very pleased about that. I hope it was the fox that was coming around here in my garden cos if it was and I don't see any mess or foxes I can let the bantams out for a good run and not just the hour or half hour they get before its dark when I can watch over them.

Jane Report 30 Oct 2016 16:21

Afternoon All

Just back from visiting Fitz.It was so hot here it was ridiculous.I have had to dig out a really thin top now.
Poor Fitzy is thoroughly fed up.He has just been sitting/lying there since Friday still waiting for an MRI scan.. Chris said that is outrageous especially with the symptoms Fitz has.He is supposed to be sitting with his knees lower than the base of his spine so to keep as much pressure off the nerves there, and when in bed the bottom of the bed should be lowered a bit.But from what I could see the bottom of the bed wouldn't go down.I had a fiddle with the electric controls but it just seemed to raise and lower the head end.Hopefully tomorrow he will have the MRI,and depending on the results he could well be transfrered to Leicester.
I took him in the Sunday Times and a bag of Malteasers .But he doesn't fancy chocolate just now so they are in his cupboard. His mouth is so dry with the Oramorph ,Tramadol and all the rest of the meds. His bladder is affected as he is retaining urine after weeing. One of the nurses scans the bladder after each time he goes. How things have moved on since my days in Nursing.Any scan then would have been down down in Xray Department.
So we wait until tomorrow and just hope things get moving.

James has just this minute walked through the door so I had better go and see how his weekend was in that 'posh' place :-D

Mel I saw the hedgehog last night.......He is so much bigger now !!!!!. A right little tubby lol

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 30 Oct 2016 16:59

You would have thought they would have given him a scan on friday when he went in , i suppose they don't do scans over the weekend , lets hope they do it tomorrow so the poor chap can be sorted out .
Colin had his bladder scaned at the bed side when he had the catheter out as he had a job to go , it was done a couple of times by the nurse in charge , they just bring the machine to the bed ,no going down to the xray department for scans any more .

Really foggy out now , glad we don't have to travel any where tonight .

Jane Report 30 Oct 2016 17:00

I don't know that game Mel.It sounds a bit messy for me lol.. One game I did enjoy at parties was sucking a dried pea on the end of a straw and running to the end of the room and dropping the pea in a dish. The team who won was the one who had collected the most amount of peas.
Hopefully the Deer is still safe then if it was a Fox that was shot and hopefully your Chickens will be safer now :-)

Well it is almost dark now. I was up as early as ever this morning.I think I was downstairs at 6.30 :-S Chris slept on .Last night there were so many fireworks going off.It must have been to do with Diwali Celebrations.Thankfully Thomas came in just before things got really loud.It may well be the same tonight. Also Halloween .Do they do fireworks for that these days? I forgot to buy any sweets just in case we get anyone Trick or Treating. Touch wood we won't.We haven't had any for years and years now.(oh I just thought is Halloween tomorrow? ) I think I am losing the plot :-S

The boiler and pump are still not working properly so it will be a phone call to British Gas in the morning.Wednesday the flooring will be done in the bathroom.
Still waiting for a phone call for my Voucher code to get a new freezer.
I better ring my neighbour and let her know I can't have my food back just yet !!

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 30 Oct 2016 17:28

Oh i shall do that pea game at christmas with the little ones Jane i had forgotten that one i think they could do that it would be a big of fun and cheap too, the price they charge for some of the games is terrible the bits are only plastic and don't last five minutes .
I use to like tiddly winks ,getting the counters into the pot .

Yes lets hope it was the fox that use to visit your garden Mel, i expect the deer heard the shot and thats why you haven't seen them lately.

Jane

Jane Report 30 Oct 2016 18:42

I think the little ones will enjoy that Pea Game Mandy. It was really good fun. AND Cheap :-D..I would use straight straws rather than bendy ones :-D I bet no-one does that game these days.
Chris is getting more angry about the fact Fitz has not had anything done yet. He can see it being a case of negligence should Fitz suffer further problems .He was admitted as a Surgical Emergency on Friday !!!!
