Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Nov 2016 17:33

Did'nt have my flu jab and neither did oh. The doctors rang to say the nurse had'nt turned up so could they make another appointment for me and made it for 14th Nov as I said I had a bit of a cold. Went into the study to tell oh still with the ohone in my hand and it rang again. It was the doctors for oh to tell him he could'nt have his flu jab as the nurse had'nt turned up. Now would'nt you think the receptionist would have known she had just rung the same number?

Gosh you would'nt believe it that they can keep Fitz waitng all this time. It is sole distroying to be all preped up and then be told he will have to wait even longer. I bet he was pleased with the things you took him in. When I went in with my heart all those years ago they asked me what I wante d for dinner off the menu. There was chicken salad or roast pork. I thought I would be good and have the salad but when it arrived it was that chicken roll stuff which I don't like and I thought it would be fresh chicken. I was most disappointed as the roast pork looked delishious but hay ho there you go.

Evening All,

A nice sunny day here again. :-) We went to the fav carvery and had to sit in their other room as they had a funeral today.

So Fitz is STILL waiting Jane. No wonder there aren't enough beds in hospitals when they keep people waiting for operations. I can't remember having any hot food when I was in hospital. I seem to remember having sarnies, yoghurt and fruit, oh and weetabix. I do remember that the smell of curry on the ward wasn't great after my operation! I bet he was a bit fed up after he was all prepared for it today. I hope his earplugs did the trick last night and he got some sleep. :-)

I did some errands this afternoon and a flatbed small lorry came towards me with white smoke billowing out of the sides of the engine, just like the smoke from the old steam trains. As I passed it I could see the driver mouthing 'come on, come on' as if willing it to keep going and get to his destination!! It was like driving in fog the next 2 miles to the main road.

I keep thinking of that man who cut his toe off and ate it in front of shoppers in the Wilko store!!!!! Horrific!! :-0

Jane Report 2 Nov 2016 18:46

Fitz just rang to say he has been seen by the Surgeon and he is on the list for the morning :-D...The funny thing is it is the same surgeon that operated on James and Hannah years ago when they had broken bones.I thought he had retired. He is a lovely man .
So lets hope it all goes well tomorrow :-D I'm sure it will :-D

How daft having 2 calls Mel....The usual lack of communication at the surgery. :-S

We had no Hedgehog Poo on the patio overnight.I wonder if he has gone into hibernation now.The food bowl was empty this morning.I will put more out tonight, but if there is no more poo tomorrow then I guess he has curled up in a ball somewhere for the winter.

What a shame about Ros' bracelet Frank. I hope they can make a good job of mending it. At least it gets you a change of scene to go shopping with Ros but quite right you musn't overdo it with your knee. You need a book or newspaper to read in the car for when it gets too much for you. OH made a silly statement that he was easy to live with this morning!!! Err.....I don't think so I said and reeled off a few things that make it not so. He looked a bit shocked and grinned so I said 'it's not looking so rosy now is it?' :-) :-) lol. He checked the mousetraps in the garage this morning and 2 had been caught. Now the mice can get to the bait in the traps they are working fine!!!!! I'm hoping it stops most of them getting into the loft now.

That's good your flooring is done Jane. I just had a mental picture of Chris going into the bathroom with his 'shades' on. lol. Tell him the mats will be peach coloured after a few washes. :-)

Did you watch The Victorian Slum last night Mel?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Nov 2016 21:23

Yes Ann I did. I also watched The Moonstone on Monday afternoon after Doctors so I am going to catch up on that tonight as there's not much else on I want to see.

Been having a fiddle this afternoon but now I need some scraps of pretty small pattern material.

Did I say I am having trouble with my right side of the bottom of my back!! I think I must have pulled a mucle as if I sit I can't get up properly and have to do it slowly to straighten up. It feels like my sacroiliac. I may have done it cleaning the chickens out.

Morning all,

Dull here today with a very cloudy sky and it is now colder.

I think I have a stinking cold. Our friends came round the other day to show us their new puppy as one of their dogs got run over by a car. he is lovely and they've called him Ted. He's a blue marle collie. Well they were both full of cold and I think I have it from them.

Backs a bit better this morning but I sat with a hot water bottle on it all last night and took it to bed with me and my micro monkey which went on my back and my knees had the bottle.

I have turned the heatin gon this morning and thats the second time I have had it on this year so not bad really.

How's our Frank today. Did you have a better night last night?

Just to let you all know, Amy has suddenly taken a turn for the worst and we are having to make the very sad and difficult decision to do the kindest thing for her and take her on her final trip to the vet. I'm sure you will all understand If I don't come on here for a little while

Sending you all love and wishes. xx <3 <3 <3

Frank Report 3 Nov 2016 10:55

Good morning Mel and Anne,

Anne I am so sorry to hear your news, I have been there with one of my Labs and two poodles so my thoughts are truly with you. Try to think positive xxxxx

Typical of the doctors Mel, How much money and time do they waste phoneing the same households. ??

Poor old Fitz, He must be fed up to his teeth not knowing when his operation is going to be.

Ros managed to get the chain caught in the threader, which pulled the half sovereign into the cutters. The Sovereign came out the other end with marks on both sides,so it's value is next to nothing. !!!

Not a bad night last night. It only had me awake three times. I had to wake madam this morning, as she is at "Stitchery do" from 10,00 till 3.00 pm.

Mel, You will have to have Camphorated (sp) oil and brown paper wrapped around your chest for that cold.

I was laying awake last night and thought of the "NIGHT WATCHMEN" who use to stay in those tin shelters when there was road works etc. As young teenagers we would go and sit with the "OLD CHAP" and talk and he would make a big pot of tea, and we would sit around the brazier and drink it. That's going back 65 years.

Not sure what it's like outside, but looks dry and the sun is teying to get through.

Enjoy your day of peace Jane, I know I will. !!!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Nov 2016 11:09

O Frank I remember those metal huts being on the streets and had forgotten all about them till you mentioned it. So memories are still coming to us after all these years of the thread. Thanks for that.

Sorry to hear about Ros's sovereign but it will still be worth its weight in gold. I have one on a chain that was mums but I seldom wear jewelry just my silver bracelet with the birth stones in that oh bought me for my birthday once and it never comes off as its a wrap around with the stones on the ends which overlap and my engagement ring.
I bet Ros will never wear a braclet when shredding again....

Afternoon all,

Anne i am so sorry to hear your sad news ,you are doing the kindest thing for dear Amy and i will be thinking of you today <3 <3

We had a bit of a scare this morning i heard Colin calling me i was down stairs and he was up in the bathroom ,he shouted that he thought he had put his hip out !!
There was quite a bulge at the top of his hip and it was a bit painful when he put his foot down, i rang the doctors and got an appointment and we went up ,the doctor said he didn't think the hip was out he thought it might be scar tissue or the muscle , he said it felt very tense when he felt round the hip joint so he has ordered an emergency xray which will take about two weeks to come through .
I must admit my blood ran cold at the thought of the hip being out ,he has to be so careful as they did bone graft on the socket and the surgeon did say that the hip would be more likely to pop out this time.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Nov 2016 15:23

Mandy what a scarefor Colin and you. You would have thought they would have xrayed it straight away just to make sure everything was alright after having that kind of an op. I hope its nothing serious and just muscle. I shall be thinking of him over the next weeks. I still don't see how these emergencies take two weeks, a lot can happen in two weeks to a healing hip.

Mandy I meant to say thanks for telling us about Nicko. I still think about him as he sounds such a nice young man. If he's saving up I wonder if he is trying to get a deposit for a rental?

I now have catarrh so now I know it is a cold I have. Just as well I did'nt have my jab...

Gillx Report 3 Nov 2016 15:25

So sorry to hear about Amy Anne, what is wrong with her, sorry to ask but with not being online for so long I'm still not sure how everyone is yet. My thoughts are with you <3

Sorry to hear about Colin Mandy, hopefully the x-ray will show him what the problem is, at least the doctor doesn't think his hip has come out which is good.

Did Fitz finally have his op today Jane? Hope all went well if he did. That was nice of you to take him some food, hospital food isn't exactly nice is it?

Fancy the doctors surgery ringing twice Mel, don't they waste a lot of time and energy? Like you said you'd of thought they would of noticed ringing the same number twice, :-S :-S silly people.
Sorry to hear your back is sore, at least the hot water bottle helped which is good.

It sounds like you might of overdone things with all the shopping Frank, hope some rest will ease the pain. Sorry to hear about Ros's bracelet hopefully it won't cost to much to have repaired.

OH and I took Sandra out yesterday to buy some flowers for the garden, she said she wanted some she could look after so now we have quite a few winter Primula's which we are hoping to arrange in some pots for her tomorrow. Mum called round before and gave her some bulbs to plant up as well.

I'm just watching a Christmas film with Sandra so I'd better get back to it as I've paused it at the ads while I posted on here.

See you all later <3

Annx Report 3 Nov 2016 15:44

Afternoon All,

Oh Anne how upsetting for you. A difficult decision, but the kindest thing to do for your Amy. <3

That must have made your blood run cold to hear him say that Mandy. I bet you won't be happy till he's had that xray now. :-S

It's a good job your flu jab was cancelled Mel now you have a stinker of a cold. Hopefully it should have cleared up by the time your next appointment comes around. I find a hot water bottle a boon for my back and have been taking one to bed recently too. I often get a pain in a similar place to you, between my hip and base of my spine. It makes me feel as if the seat of my chair isn't level.....weird!!

Frank, that has brought back a memory of the workmen and their brazier!! You just don't see braziers these days do you. I was thinking the other night how all the roadworks and the level crossing gates used to have those flickering red oil lamps hung on them at night.

It's been chaos in the close today with the latest set of road diggers and pipe layers. Their big lorry that removes the soil they dig from the trenches completely blocks the narrow close now and they have only done about 20 feet. To move it they have to fix the bucket safely, raise the jacks and then try and find a spot to tuck the lorry beyond where they are working. There's only room for a path one side at the top of the close so it's quite tricky. I must remember to leave for beading class earlier tomorrow as I bet they will have started work before I set off. These appear to be water people and we have a letter saying the electric people will be making a start doing the same digging this week! Everywhere is going to look such a mess, even when they've done and it used to look quite nice down here. :S

I wonder how Fitz is now and whether his operation went ahead ok? Hopefully they have managed to sort the problem out so he will be rid of the awful pain he was in.

Afternoon
Oh Anne I am so sorry to see your news about Amy :-(. It is such a terrible thing having to make the decision to say Goodbye to your dear companion. You will be feeling so sad right now.But she had not been right for so long and you will know you have done the right thing for her. <3 <3 <3

Crikey Mandy !!!.I hope Colins hip is ok. Fancy an emergency Xray taking 2 weeks!!! That is outrageous.I hope he gets it done much sooner than that.

I haven't heard anything so far today from Georgette about Fitz. But I am assuming that he has had his op now and will be sleeping off the anaesthetic.I expect i will hear from her this evening, and maybe I will be able to visit him tomorrow.

Oh Mel you sound full of cold, and like you said most likely caught it from your friends when they visited you.Hopefully it won't hang around for too long.

Ann you must be sick of all the going on in the close with all the lorries ,diggers etc etc.
Have you any idea how long it will be before it is all done?

Frank I have vague memories of a man sat by a brazier in his tin hut.I must have been quite young and can't remember where it was.It must have been a lonely old job sitting there all night .

My car will be going back in to the garage on Monday morning as the parts are in now.It will be possibly in for a day and a half.I thought it was going to be a quick job.
But at least I can use the car over the weekend.

My BIL has had his second Cataract op today. If it goes as well as the first one 3 weeks ago he will be really pleased :-D
I was having a look at the flooring in the bathroom today and realised that we really need to replace the skirting boards as some of the bottoms are not straight and have gaps which makes it look quite tatty. But I won't mention my thoughts to Chris just yet lol..We would need someone who knows what he is doing to do that job.I do like the flooring though .
Chris is back from the NEC .He said it was very busy at the Art Fair but was pleased he went.He has bought me a new lovely set of BrushPens etc for my colouring and also a slim mini daylight light. It is much better than the huge thing I have been using.

Gill,Sandra will love having her own pots of plants to look after :-D. I bet she is counting the days down to Christmas now too .I hope she gets snow this winter as she has been waiting so long to be able to make her Snowman :-D :-D
How did the visit go with Michelle and Boyfriend? I can't remember if you said she was moving into a new flat. I might have imagined that though lol
Is it your big 50 birthday coming up???

Its blooming cold outside now and I think it is beginning to spit.Thomas has just gone out but don't think he will be out for too long. The Woodburner is roaring away and its as warm as toast in here now :-D

Jane

Jane Report 3 Nov 2016 18:27

MillymollyAmanda Report 3 Nov 2016 18:48

I hope his hip is ok too , i have felt all on edge all day it was a horrible feeling when he said i think my hips out ,i just carn't seem to settle to do any thing now so i rang and told Debbie we wouldn't be at dog training this week ,Colin needs to rest and i wouldn't feel happy leaving him on his own for too long until he has had this x ray.

I hope you soon feel better Mel ,i bet you did pick it up from your friends if they were full of cold .

Sandra will love watching her flowers grow , you could buy her an Amerillis bulb she will be able to watch that shoot up once they get going they seem to grow over night.

Ann it sounds like its a right mess in your close , thank goodness its been quite dry or there would be loads of mud !!!

Poor Fitz having to wait all day for his op , i hope its all gone ok and he now has less pain.
