Oh goodness Ann thats a lot of mice !! It's good that you are now getting them now before they get into the loft , poor OH going down on his knees patios can be slippery this time of the year . I'm always careful when i take Max now as there are loads of leaves on the path where we walk and they get slippery when they are wet .

So it may be another fortnight to wait before Colin knows Mandy. At least the xray will show up if anything has moved at all. Yes our patio is very smooth stone and with a bit of that algae that grows too it can be slippy. OH doesn't help by always rushing about. He was in the crocs I got him and they have smoothish soles so they got the blame!! There are loads of leaves lying on pavements here and as you say, they can get slippy too. Hopefully Max doesn't pull on the lead or you could end up on your btm! :-0
We are using hexagonal beads for the first time tomorrow to make a bracelet which should be interesting. :-) Mine are silver so I'm using blacks and greys to go with them.

Afternoon All
Frank, you must have been frozen and very uncomfortable at the Footie. What happened to being able to have a seat down the bottom.? I expect it took it out you really so hopefully you are just taking things easy now for a few days. <3
Yikes Ann.12 mice !! Little devils.Where are they all coming from? Maybe they are being disturbed by all the palaver going on in the road.I hope OH hasn't done too much damage to his knee and leg.The trouble now everywhere can be a bit slippery, like Mandy said with all the leaves e.g.. I have noticed that are paving slabs on the patio are looking a bit green and slimy in places so I do a bit of a tippy toe walk.
Oh a lovely pink tree with light too will make Sandra a very happy girl :-D I hope you all have a lovely evening tonight.
Mandy ,hopefully the X-ray results will come through earlier than 2 weeks. You really need to know if everything is ok.
I have ordered a couple of presents on line today. One was a rather expensive pair of leather gloves for James with cashmere lining. That will have to be his main present. It was on his list so I know they will be right :-D I also ordered a book for Jess.It is a weird one, about fashion through the ages that caused deaths !!!!..It actually looks very interesting .That book was on her list.
Oh Mel you must feel cream crackered after your bad night.I keep getting nights like that these days.Although the last 2 nights have been good.
We will need to order more logs in the next couple of weeks. Chris moved the last of the logs from the woodshed to the plastic storage thing with doors on the front that we have just out the back.Once the logs go down a bit in there then we will order more. The rate we are getting through them it won't be long before more are ordered.
I will pop down and see Fitz again tomorrow morning.Make sure he is behaving :-)

Sounds interesting Ann. I like the colour combinations and it should look nice when its done. Oh is always telling me to be careful on the roads when the leaves are down as they can make the roads slippery too. If you have any Jeyes fluid you could giv ethe patio slabs a wash with a solution of that to help keep the moss away or treat it with that wet and forget. Ours need doing again and the decking can get slippy too with certain shoes on.
The pink Christmas tree sounds just the thing for Sandra's room and with pink lights too should lok a treat in her newly refurbished room. She will be getting so excited that Christmas is nearly here not long to wait now. You still hav'nt told us how Michelle's visit went. Was Sandra pleased to see her sister? Did they get some girly time together?
Mandy they don't half keep you waiting fo rresults etc nowadays still I suppose if anything was wrong they would let Colin know. One more step towards a recovery. Is he getting fed up with being at home of enjoying it? Big X for Max. Are you at training classes tonight? Hope he does well if you are and has been doing his homework like a good boy! :-)

Did anyone watch the new series Close to the Enemy tonight. Oh watched part of it with me but he will talk about how bad the acting is right at a part you want to listen too so I think I may watch it again once he is in bed to see what I missed. It has 7 parts which I suppose takes us up towards Christmas.

Morning all,
A lovely sunny day here at the moment. Oh is out pressure washing the decking and putting all the hosta to sleep for the winter. He cuts them all back and turns their trays upside down and put the pots on the trays. Nearly all the leaves are off the red tree now that is over the ponds.
Remembering all those who served our country today and may they all rest in peace those that passed. God be with them.
Hope Sandra enjoyed her outing last night and came home beaming from ear to ear with her fairy lights.

Good morning all
Mel we recorded Close to the Enemy last night as we watched the last episode of Paranoid which I have found it hard to follow at times
Gill, Sandra's bedroom sounds lovely and girly in time for Christmas that's one thing I missed with only having sons. I was the only female on both sides of the family as well, with 3 male cousins and only one brother so it was so good having granddaughters . I hope she enjoyed her evening at the garden centre,
Paul has taken Richard to Oxford this morning, he has an appointment at the John Radcliffe hospital, he is having a check up on the top of his leg where he had the cancer removed about 3 years ago, so I'm feeling a bit edgy at the moment
Ann it sounds as if you could do with young Thomas's services for your mouse problem, could all the road works etc be something to do with it.
Had a post card from Nice from Colin yesterday.
We saw the new John Lewis advert with the boxer dog in it so I felt a bit weepy as I wasn't expecting it.
Hope your leg feels easier today Frank, no wonder it was painful after all those stairs to climb.
This cold is making me feel under the weather with the sore throat being really painful but I have managed to clean the bathroom and down stair cloak room as I am trying to keep busy

Morning all, Evening Kim,
Another horrible day and night yesterday. My knee is so HOT and as TIGHT as a drum. I have been exercising every few hours to try to ease the tightness but not a lot of success.
On Tuesday night "PADDY" introduced me to a chap who had a knee replacement FIVE YEARS AGO. He said it's better than before he had it done, but still gets a lot of discomfort from it. I said THANKS A BUNCH" that's just what I wanted to hear !!!
Ros has popped to the hairdressers for a cut and blow dry. Her hair is getting long and awkward to control. She will have the roots etc done before Christmas. She is also going to pick up her bracelet from the jewellers. A woman she worked with years ago, has passed away this morning aged 96. Her daughter will let Ros know when the funeral is (at least two weeks from what she says)
Nice bright cold day here, plenty of yellow stuff and hardly any breeze..
Conrad is coming back from Spain for the weekend, so I expect he will ring tomorrow.
Haven't read the posts yet again. I must get back to my chair and stretch my leg out. Will try to get back later.
I trust you are all well and not being affected by this cold weather. <3 <3 <3

Afternoon All,
No Christmas shopping happening here today Frank!! It sounds like your knee needs a bag of frozen peas on it to cool it down. :-S
When I looked out of the bedroom window first thing this morning a tarmac lorry was blocking the whole width of the road and my exit to go to beading class!! Both of us threw some clothes on to go and ask them to move it so we could get our cars out and park them at the top of the close. I'd already had to go out and turn mine round last night to make sure I could drive out through the narrowed gap they'd left. You'd think they'd have the decency to knock on our doors before they blocked the road but no!!! :-S Of course the builder and his cronies are parking at the top of the close too now so there was only just room for us. Then when I set off to go to class I got held up with all the roadworks going on at a junction down the road. Someone said to me recently that that is to do with the new Everards HQ that is to be built opposite their old place. The lady I gave a lift to class for a couple of weeks turned up with a victoria sponge she'd baked for me which was very nice of her! :-) We've already sampled some and it is very nice. ;-)
My car has sounded a bit lumpy starting up on a couple of cold mornings this week. I suspect it needs a new glowplug as it is fine once it starts up the first time. I just hope it will be ok early on Monday when I have to be at the hospital for that radio broadcast. They did say I could book a taxi if I wanted to though. It's another thing that needs attending to!! :-|

Evening all
The rain has finally stopped here and apart from it being really cold it's been dry and sunny, with just a bit of frost first thing this morning.
We all had a great time last night and bought Sandra some decorations for her tree. We didn't buy the pink lights in the end but got her some pearl type ones instead which we thought would look better against the pink of the tree. We are going to spend a day making things to hang on her tree using all the bits and bobs we got last night. We couldn't find any small baubles but luckily for us on the way home we called in Tesco's and they had 20 small silver baubles for a pound. We did find some slightly bigger baubles at B&Q in white so hopefully they won't be to big for the tree, Sandra also found some white heart shaped baubles too, so all in all she's a happy bunny :-)
I hope all went well at the hospital for Richard today Anne. Sorry to hear you're not feeling very well, I hope you feel better soon. Yes, Sandra's room is looking really nice now, she has a beaming smile on her face and is telling all her friends about it. Her tree will go up later this month as it's a bit early at the moment, plus we have some decorations to make first once I've cleared the dining room table. OH is back in work in a few days so we've planned a whole day to make them for her. I think I've got a small fairy mum gave me last year so that can go at the top of her tree once I find it.
That'll be nice to see Conrad again Frank, I bet you're looking forward to it :-) Sorry to hear about Ros's friend. 96 was a good age. Enjoy your time at the pub tonight, don't over do it though.
That's a lot of mice Ann, maybe you could borrow Thomas off Jane, he'd be in his element at yours for a few days ;-) :-D Hope you get your car sorted, it's no joke when they play up is it? So the lorries are blocking your way again? I agree with you, they should let you know if they are going to block the road so you can get your cars out, but I don't suppose they think of that do they?
How was Fitz today Jane, hopefully recovering okay?
It's very quiet on here today isn't it?

Its been quiet because I have been out and I did do some Christmas shopping. I got two things for Di and a few bits for oh and one largeish bit but its only a small pressie and a silly one at that, but I know he will really like it. He also bought me my diary for next year but he dos'nt know that yet!!!!!! He told me to bring in fish and chips and I went out about lunch time and when I got to the shop it was closed till 4.30pm. What a daft day to close on a Friday. I thought they only closed on a Thursday afternoon and opened again at 5.30pm. Still you live and learn....
I am pleased Sandra enjoyed herself last night at the garden centre Gill. What else did you get to make things for her tree. I have also pm'd you Gill.

Brrrrr !!! Chilly Willies here now.It was lovely today with the sun shining and really quite pleasant.
Anne, fingers crossed all is good for Richard with the check up today. I hope your sore throat clears up soon.A rotten sore throat is so horrible.
I did think of you when I saw the J L Advert with Buster the Boxer.I imagine you had a few tears when you saw it :-( It is a sweet advert.
Ann,how inconsiderate of the lorry driver to block you in.As you say he should have knocked first just to see if you needed to get out. It sounds a real nightmare in your close :-S
Frank, has your knee cooled down ? Hopefully it is just inflammation and will settle again.I hope it will be ok for you to go to the pub for the footie later. I bet Ros feels better now she has had her hair cut. How often does she have it cut? I have mine cut every 5 weeks and by the 4th week it always feels too long.
I went to see Fitz this morning. He was stretched out on the settee catching up on TV programmes. He couldn't get up and it took me ages to help haul him onto his feet.I don't think it is a good idea for him to lie there as it is too low and soft really. I was pleased to see that he had the walking stick handy though and he did use it.He was looking a little rough around the edges today.I just think he is trying to do too much too soon. If his O H can't take him next Thursday to get his stitches out then I said I would take him to the surgery.I can drop him off and then go and park as it is a fair walk from the carpark. He was fretting about all the cobwebs he could see shining in the sun.I said they can hang a bit longer :-D No-one else will see them. I came home to see lots here !!! so out came the cobweb brush. These ones are just one long fine thread with a teeny weeny spider that can often be seen half way along the thread. There was one going from the top of the TV right up to the ceiling.I have my conkers in all the corners of every room (they aren't working :-S )
Just had a message from Hannah to say to save Jan 28th all day and eve.She must be planning something for Chris's birthday . I might suggest to Chris we book a hotel for the night in London :-D ....I better find out from Hannah what she is up to .I will promise to keep it a secret from Chris :-D

I've answered your PM Mel, I have bought some garlands, they are really small in white and a crystal type plastic, so I'm thinking of taking it apart and making things to hang on her tree instead of leaving it as a garland because it's to long and would probably get tangled around her small tree, I've also bought another garland in a light shinny purple which looks almost pink, Sandra picked it as she preferred the colour to the pink one, again I'm going to try and make something to hang on her tree. Sandra thinks the tree is a bit to pink so I found some small tinsel it's only about half an inch thick so I was thinking of cutting it up into pieces and attaching it to each of the branches to soften the pink a bit, the colour is white with tiny pink stars on it, so hopefully it will go nicely with the pink branches, I've also bought a silver garland of stars which I'll probably use as a garland around the tree as that is a bit smaller and shouldn't tangle as much. So with all the baubles I did find and the pearl effect lights, it should look quite good when it's finished. I also bought some white with silver glitter balls on wire so I thought because I have some pearls with holes in them I might thread my pearls onto the white and silver ones then twist the wire around so they can be hung on the tree like droplets and I also have some crystals left over from when I did my tree which I'm going to hang on there too. I might paint a few of them in white as they might not show up much if they were left. So lots to make, Sandra is looking forward to us making them. The idea is to put silver and white on her pink tree so it goes with the colour of her room without looking out of place. She wants her tree up straight away but I need to clear the dining room table first as it has all the stuff on it from the sideboard I've just varnished, so she'll have to wait a couple of days for the varnish to dry properly which is why I suggested we did it when her dad goes back to work in a few days time.
I haven't seen the J L Advert yet Jane, I was just talking about it to Sandra and OH about an hour ago and saying how we haven't seen it yet. I do like their adverts so shall keep my eye out for it now I know it's being aired. I hope Fitz starts feeling a little better soon, maybe you're right and he is trying to do to much to soon. Let's hope he doesn't try to get rid of those cobwebs, he's probably only noticed them because he's laying down and like you said no one else will notice them so best to leave them be for now.
How is your knee now Frank, hope it's still not feeling hot? Maybe you have done to many exercises today and just need to rest it for a while. At least you are getting a lift to the pub tonight so not much walking which is good. Hope you have a nice time.
Spare ribs for dinner so I'd better go and check on them

Morning all
Pouring with rain again, I don't know how much more the garden can take. At least it wasn't frosty this morning like yesterday.
OH is sorting out my kitchen today, we've been so busy sorting out Sandra's room that we still haven't managed to put the freezer in the right place yet, so that's a job for today then OH can paint the kitchen before he goes back to work in a few days.
I've starting taking a look at my family tree again, it's taking a while to get back into it, but it gives me something to do around all the other jobs. I do have a couple of pictures to make first though. OH spray painted a couple of frames I had and I've found some lovely wallpaper samples I'm going to frame. It's very difficult to find pictures behind glass, they all seem to be the canvas pictures nowadays which I'm not to keen on, so I've taken to making pictures myself. I had the idea when I was looking for a picture for Sandra's room and we couldn't find one she liked, then she spotted some wallpaper she really liked and that's where I got the idea from, it worked a treat and everyone who's seen it thinks it's lovely, so I thought I'd have a go and make a couple of pictures for my own bedroom. If it doesn't work again I've lost nothing as the wallpaper samples were free ;-) ;-)
What is everyone else up to today?

Morning Gill and all,
Cloudy here todayand I think we have theat very fine rain in the air if you know what I mean.
YOur pictures sound interesting Gill, hope they turn out as good as Sandra Did.
I only have to go down the shop today for my paper and make sure the lady picked up the parcel I left for her. After that its just the usual routine of getting lunch washing up and getting tea and cake and then dinner and not washing up. Oh does that in the morning. Inbetween feeding the chickens, bantams and hedgehogs, yes they are still coming and I get the big one and the little one eating out of the same bowl so I am wondering if its mum and baby as there is no pushing and shoveing going on and they seem quite happy to be around one another and go their seperate ways after feeding at the bowls.
Just a little something to keep you quiet today Find My Past have free Millitary records over the weekend to GR members. YOu should have been in formed.

Morning to all of my friends and Evening Kim.
Horrible wet day here, I don't envy anyone being out in it. Ros has gone to meet Martine for their Saturday "NATTER" and get any bits we need. She will bring some Rolls and filling with her for lunch.
Went to see the match last night. The pub was heaving and so loud. The juke box was on and people were shouting over the noise. No sound on the T.V. so that helped.
I have a water filled canvas type bag, that I got from the hospital. I keep it in the fridge, and wrap it round me knee most days, sometimes it helps and other times it doesn't.
Have been watching the LORD MAYORS SHOW. It takes me back to the years I worked in the City. I can remember all the streets around that area. Did you know there is not a ROAD in the City. All streets or other names ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) A bit of useless information !!!
Thanks for you PM Mel, I have replied and YES it was my DAD.
I trust you all have a good day
