I have cleaned out the big girls and the bantams and thats pooped me for the rest of the day. I came in hopeing oh had made tea but no he was still playing his game on the pc. I washed up the lunch things and then made tea for me and coffee for him and we had a bit of his birthday cake and off he went into his study after that leavinf the telly on of course and thas the last I have seen of him for the time being till I get the cheese and biccies I suppose.

Mandy you can get those rice lights which you could hide the battery pack behind the wreath and have those tiny light on it.

Gillx Report 13 Nov 2016 19:00

Oh I see Mandy, I just couldn't work it out, it does sound like it's going to be very pretty when it's finished.

Well, I've just had a very pleasant surprise. I counted all the things I've bought for Sandra for Christmas and found I have 15 things, so she's almost finished, just a few more bits and bobs to buy her which will end up as 20 things for her. On the flip of the coin poor OH only has three things so I'll have to put my thinking cap on for ideas for him. I'm not very good at buying for men, I've never had any sons or brothers so never really had to buy anything manly. I've asked him a few times what he wants but he said he doesn't need anything, which is actually true, so I'm hoping I find something interesting when we go shopping next week.

Just going to get a cuppa now before the results of Strictly. Thanks Mandy for not telling me the results of the F1 I nearly caught it on the news but managed to take the sound off before they said anything.

Evening All

We have been in Cambridge all day with Hannah ,Gareth ,james and Jess.H&G got the train up from London and Chris and I drove separately from J&J as James took his car.
Cambridge was absolutely heaving. The restaurant was completley full so it was a good thing we had booked.I had hoped to to get a good bit of Xmas shopping done but all I bought were 2 presents,a garland that I might put on the mantelpiece (but might not),a couple of gift bags and some pretty Xmas Tissue paper for wrapping more delicate gifts.

Thomas is ignoring me .I put his food out in the summerhouse this morning so he has been out all day.Normally when I get home I have lots of purrs and rubbing around my legs .But nothing like that so far.He really has the hump lol

Anne ,that is great news for Richard :-D....I think as parents we do worry our socks off .I know I would have been on edge just like you.But now you can forget all about it for the next 6 months.I suppose he will have to continue to have 6 monthly checks for a certain amount of time and then yearly.

Of Frank. You must get so cross each time you lose your posts!!. You must be knocking a wrong key by mistake .

There was a message on the answer phone when we got in.It was my neighbour 2 doors down to say that Theives have been about. Next door had the motor bike stolen and a cycle from a shed, and the neighbour (2 doors down) have found that the padlock and bar have been sawn off their big side gate(nothing missing from there )
I am not at all the Motorbike was pinched as it is always left in full view(bit of an invitation really).I have been saying for weeks that I am surprised it was still there snd how stupid to leave it 'on show' like that.
We checked all around our place in the dark with a torch and everything looks ok.But we will have another check in the daylight tomorrow.

Gill you will be pleased now that things are a lot clearer in the house .You and your OH
do so much.It will be nice for you and Sandra to decorate her room and make it all lovely and Christmasy :-D :-D Does Sandra have an advent calendar? I bet she does and loves opening it each day on the count down to the big day :-D

Fingers crossed you can get your flu jab tomorrow Mel....I still haven't thought about having one :-|

I think it must just nearly be time for Strictly now :-D :-D

Evening All,

I got up at 3.00am this morning and put the washing machine and dishwasher on and made a COT as I couldn't sleep. OH never heard a thing.

Good news for Richard then Anne. It's bound to be worrying each time .

Gill, slow down I can't keep up with all the things you manage to get done!! :-) All I've done today is go out and take some photos after lunch while OH went off to a match with some of his pals. Your pictures sound nice and I have thought of doing that before only with pieces of nice material. I bet Sandra is loving her bedroom with all the things you are doing.

I hope you and your OH soon feel a bit better Mel. My OH started sneezing and sniffling yesterday so I've kept my distance!! lol. I'm doing that broadcast tomorrow so don't want any tickly throats or sniffles. I've also not long got rid of that bad throat I had for ages. OH made me laugh as he said he never seems to get to kiss me these days as either one or the other of us has some bug or other!! lol. :-D

Mandy the wreath sounds nice. I suppose you could paint it or wrap ribbon around it as well? I hadn't heard of noodle floats either. It would be nice to see a pic when you have done it.

That's a lovely pic of Hannah and Gareth Jane. I love her big Pom pom, but thought it was someone's hair behind her at first. That friend of hers that gave her the tickets is handy to know!!

Well I'd better do my nails ready for tomorrow then watch David Attenborough before an early night as I need to be up at 5.30am tomorrow!! :-0 I need to be at the hospital the other side of the city by 7.00am. :-S That will be a shock to the system but at least I'll be away before the builders arrive!! I hope there won't be any creatures like those awful Racer snakes we saw last week on tonight's Planet Earth!! Whenever I think of them I think they will give me nightmares!!

Gillx Report 13 Nov 2016 20:39

Yes, Sandra does have an advent calendar Jane, I made her one years ago out of material, it's padded and has 25 pockets with numbers on which I fill with all her favourite sweets. I saw this type of calendar in a sewing shop and they were selling bits of material so I bought the material and made her one, it was a fraction of the price they were charging for them to make it and looks just as good. I had to make it all by hand as I didn't have a sewing machine then.
Hope Thomas is okay with you now. Cat's are funny aren't they? What is that saying? Dog's have owners and cats have staff LOL. That is so true, so I'm sure he'll be all over you again when he wants something.

Good luck for tomorrow Ann, that is a very early start, but like you said you'll be away before the builders turn up so you won't have to worry about getting out of your close. I hope you have a better nights sleep tonight, you don't want to be tired tomorrow.
I have framed material before, it's a bit tricky, you have to stretch it slightly otherwise it wrinkles I used some padding behind mine and then some stiff card as the frame was a deep one and it worked to my advantage doing it that way as I could tape the material to the wadding and card which made it a lot easier to frame. I do find framing paper is much easier but I would try and frame the material as it's well worth the extra time and looks really good. I also have the frames spray painted different colours to go with what ever pictures I'm framing. OH sprays the frames though as he's better at it than me.

Just watching the results of X-Factor now then I'm going to watch the F1 before I go to bed. I thought the F1 clashed with other things but it doesn't so I don't have to watch it on the plus one channel now, which is good as we had an early start this morning and I didn't fancy having a late night as we're up early again tomorrow.

GOOD LUCK ANN <3

Just realised it is The Jungle Get me out of here tonight. Chris says he will be off to bed lol
Jess is just packing up her bits and pieces ready to get her train home at 10.It will be midnight before she actually gets back home.

Thomas has had a little rub around my ankles but has now gone back to bed. He will be friends again in the morning :-D

I shall be popping down to see Fitz again sometime tomorrow.I hope he has been behaving himself over the weekend.

Morning all

Dry here today but everywhere is damp so I think we had some rain in the night.

Hope all is going well for Ann this morning, I'll be thinking of you <3

So Thomas is coming round now Jane, I'm sure he'll be more loving towards you today. One of our cats used to sulk if we left her to long but she soon came back for cuddles and food. Hope Fitz is feeling a bit better today and has left the cobwebs alone :-)

Let's hope you have more luck with your posts today Frank and your knee is feeling less painful.

I recorded that new series Mel, so will look forward to watching it when I get some time. I still haven't watched any of the Poldark's yet. What did you think of the Grand Prix? I don't think I've ever seen a race like it. Looking forward to watching the last one now :-D :-D

I might nip to Chester this afternoon while the weather is dry and finish off my Christmas shopping then I can get it all wrapped up, that way Sandra won't know what I've bought her, although to be fair, she doesn't snoop.....well not that I know of LOL.

Spoke to soon about the weather, it's just started raining again :-( :-( I guess going to Chester will have to wait until another day now, I don't fancy walking around the shops in a downpour. Hopefully we'll have at least one dry day before Christmas then we can shop in comfort. That's the problem with Chester you have to walk quite a bit outside to get anywhere. I might go the Ellesmere Port or Birkenhead instead today as most of their shops are under cover. I'll see how OH feels when he get's in, he's nip to his mates but shouldn't be to long.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MAUREEN if you're looking in, hope you have a lovely day <3

Morning all,

Happy Birthday to Maureen.xxx <3 <3 <3

Not so cold today but its cloudy so miserable with it.

Phoned the docs this morning as we are both still coughing and chesty and they have cancelled our appointment yet again till the 24th this time. Oh said it won't be worth having it at this rate as the winter will be over.

What a race it was yesterday. I hav'nt seen such a race for years with all that water on the track. I thought at one point they would stop the race completely but they did'nt.

Hope Ann managed to get out on time and was'nt held up by the builders holes in the road and close. Would'nt like to have to get up at 5.30am anymore. Did my stint of that when I was younger taking my then oh to work in Ipswich at the mill to drive their lorries.

Gillx Report 14 Nov 2016 13:42

Have you tried posting with the mistakes then edit it afterwards Frank? I don't think you'd lose your post that way. It might be worth a try.

What a shame you can't have your flu jab Mel. Yes I was surprised they let the race continue, although most of it was behind the safety car. What did you think of Max Verstappen wasn't he brilliant to get to third so quickly and he's so young too. He's one to watch in the future, I don't think it'll be long before he wins the drivers championship

Well, we didn't go shopping in the end so I've put Sandra's Christmas tree up and added the lights so we're ready to make the decorations tomorrow while OH is in work. It looks really nice in her room and not as pink as we first thought. It has flecks of white and silver on the branches which twinkle in the light, Sandra loves it already and we haven't added any decorations yet. She's looking forward to having the lights on tonight when it goes dark. Her dad said it looks like Blackpool illuminations in her room now with all the different lights she has in there. I must admit it does look nice. I didn't put the pearl lights on her tree in the end as they were to big and heavy so I've put some LED lights I had on there instead, they are much better as they are lighter and also have a clear wire between the lights instead of dark green which looks better too.

Gillx Report 14 Nov 2016 14:27

I've just fed another squirrel who I've named Jim, he comes to call too just like Rosie. Sandra thinks the names are funny as she used to watch a children's programme when she was little called "Rosie and Jim" It made her laugh which is nice to hear <3 and she now gets to see two squirrels. Jim seems to have the same poorly paw as Rosie has, so I'm wondering if it's a birth defect and they are related to each other, that might explain why Jim is as tame as Rosie, although he doesn't climb onto the window sill asking for food yet.

I'm watching a Christmas film with Sandra, OH has just nipped out and bought me some glue for plastic as I'd like to glue things to the plain white plastic baubles I bought the other day for Sandra's tree. I'm looking forward to tomorrow just as much as Sandra is now ;-) ;-) ;-)

I wonder how Ann got on this morning, hope it all went well.

It's very quiet on here today. Where is everyone?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Nov 2016 14:34

Christmas will last a long time to Sandra this year if she has the tree up already. I do hope you get a bit of snow this year so she can make her snowman. That would really put the icing on the cake for her.

Di called in this morning. She said she'd tried to text but her phone was'nt playing ball so she just came on the off chance. I warned her we both had bad colds but she came in for a coffee anyway and then we went out into my shed. I told her I would make her a jar covered in string net and she brought round her big jar today. So thats another little job for Melly. She thought what I am making is great so I have her approval.

Evening All,

Well I hardly slept a wink last night and can't stop yawning now!! It was good driving through the city at 6.15am though as there wasn't much traffic. I also had the pick of the car park spaces as I was the only one in the car park. The lady who interviewed me with a big microphone was very nice. I found it very distracting when we ran through everything before we started as we were in the foyer with people passing through and it was a bit noisy. It was also very hot, so luckily for me it was agreed we would use one of the offices for the actual thing. The questions I was asked were easy to answer which was good and I was given a nice bunch of flowers before I left which was a nice surprise. I had a look on the website this afternoon and the player keeps stopping, but I didn't see my interview at all, nor did I see the interviews they were going to do with 2 other participants later in the morning!!?? Most odd, but they were focusing on the rush hour traffic in the programme and Donald Trump and Nigel Farage!!

Frank that's a good suggestion by Gill, to post first and then do any corrections. It would save you losing your posts.

Sandra's little tree sounds lovely Gill. She will enjoy making things for it and watching the pretty lights.

Frank Report 14 Nov 2016 15:49

Well I am bored out of my brain, so thought I would give it another try.

Saturday afternoon we went and bought a new Orthopeadic mattress. I had shown Ros the one I thought was O.K. on line. She went to look at it with Martine on Saturday Morning, buy came home and said that one was NO GOOD. But she had found one that was right for us, over twice the price of the one I saw. !!! TYPICAL. The new one will be here on the 24th.

Miserable day here, I don't think we have any chance of seeing the moon tonight.

It sounds like you are well on the way to give Sandra a nice Christmas Gill. I think girls like to have all the decorations up in their bedrooms early. I know Jan's G daughter Ella has lights around her headboard all year round.

How did the radio broadcast go this morning Ann. It no doubt went well with all your experience of talking (in the nicest possible way LOL)

Ros is out with Carolyn this afternoon. I hope she remembers to bring home potato's as we are right out. The first time ever. If not it will have to be something with FROZEN CHIPS

Conrad phoned yesterday. They are working on our little Bed Sit. Bathroom/shower Bedroom, kitchenete. (somewhere we can make tea./coffee) It will be somewhere I can go for a bit of peace and quite. He flew back to Spain this morning at 7.00 am.

I have had a couple of bad days and nights with my knee. I was up this morning by 5.00 am. I feel asleep in the chair at 9.00 am for a good hour., Ros was creeping around so she didn't wake me.

It's almost dark outside now, so I will be off, See you later.

Gillx

Gillx Report 14 Nov 2016 16:00

Sorry to hear you've had a bad nights sleep again Frank, maybe the new mattress will help. Sandra has got twinkle lights in her room which will stay there all year round and she has put the light up pink roses Mel gave her over her headboard, again they'll stay there all year round too. I will try and take some pictures and email them to everyone her room does look very girly and cosy too.

What a shame you couldn't see the interview online Ann, maybe they'll put it on later. What is the web address I'd love to see it?

Yes, Mel, Christmas has come early for Sandra, I wasn't going to put the tree up for a while yet but thought it was better to put it up so we know how many decorations to make and where to put them. I've always put the lights on first, that way the wire doesn't tangle around the decorations. The lights are on now as it's starting to get dark and Sandra loves it, It twinkles quite a bit as there are shinny bits on each of the branches. It's looks very pink but goes in her room a treat. I must admit it does look good. Like you said Mel, all Sandra needs now is the snow. I've bought her a camcorder for Christmas so she'll be able to film the snow if we get some. She knows she getting the Camcorder as she asked for it and we've been told if it does snow we're not allowed in the garden until she has filmed it.....bless her <3

Just going to watch another Christmas film with Sandra now, she does loves her films.

Afternoon All

I had totally forgotten it was Maureens birthday :-S .Happy Birthday Maureen ,I hope you are having a good one
<3 <3

Oh Frank you are sounding fed up :-(..I am not surprised really with your bad nights and painful knee.. Lets hope that this new mattress will be just the right one for you this time.

Gill ,Sandra's bedroom sounds very pretty with all her lights and now the pink tree and lights..It will be Xmas every night now :-D

Ann,I wonder if your interview will be on tomorrow. Is there anyway of ringing and asking?.That was nice to get flowers :-D..I bet you did a great job.Now you can relax ,hopefully have a good nights sleep tonight and wake completely refreshed in the morning.
I was awake again at 4am.I had the restless legs going on ,so I read my kindle for a while ,looked at the news on my mobile and then dropped off again.

Fitz told me not to worry about going down to see him today. So I will just ring aain tomorrow and then pick him up at 12.15 on Wednesday to bring him here for some lunch. I will be taking him on Thursday to get his stitches out as his OH can't do it.

Mel hopefully you chesty colds will have cleared up by the 24th and then you should be able to have your flu jabs. I noticed today in Tesco lots of people coughing and snuffling. Yesterday on the park and ride bus in Cambridge the lady in front of me was hacking away. I tried to not breath in too deeply lol

We noticed today that the police were at my neighbours .No doubt about the theft of Motorbike and cycle. I am surprised they never actually knocked on our door to see if we had seen anything suspicious. They usually do. Thankfully it seems the burglars didn't visit us.

I was just about to go and start dinner but message from James saying he might not be in until 8 tonight from work so I will leave it for an hour or so.

Thomas has just gone out .I would have loved to have seen the Supermoon tonight but the clouds have just come over.Fingers crossed the Full moon isn't going to affect Thomas .I want him in at a decent time.

Rosie and Jim :-D :-D..Perfect names for the 2 squirrels Gill. Didn't Rosie and Jim live on a Narrow Boat ?..It does sound like they are related if they both have the same odd foot. Could Jim possibly be one of Rosies Babies?

Mandy is Max back to classes this week? Is it tomorrow ? Love to see a pic of him .He must be huge now.

Liz ,still missing !!!!!. She can't have had visitors all this time.I hope all is well .

I was disappointed to see the same Christmas films on the true movies channels of 300 301 etc. I watched all those last year. Surely they could find some new ones for us.

Well I have finished what I was making and am very pleased how it has turned out and I had so much fun making it. It is my own design and nobody in the WHOLE world would ever have one exactly the same as I have made everything including the things on the back. It will be winging its way to Cheshire soon to a very special girl, well as soon as I can get to a post office as I am not using the van in the village anymore since they lost William's parcel and I never got any response from Springwatch with the little birds I sent.

I don't like the way they ask you "whats in it ?" now either. I always want to say something like "It's for personal use" and make them think its a s*x toy. If they know whats in it they could always filch it.

I am going to do something else now. I have my eye on what I want to have a go at but hav'nt tried it yet. May not turn out how I want it.

Sorry to hear you had a couple of bad nights with your leg Frank. Hope the mattress will be ok for both you and Ros. Remember the one you sent away for and could'nt get on with and had to send it back?
