I think Frank is going to get plenty of early Xmas and Birthday cards LOL

Ann,Is the Furniture Loft the one that was Furniture Barn? We bought Hannah that huge Farmhouse table and chairs there when she and that ex of hers bought the house in Market Harborough... We still have that table and 6 chairs in our garage !!!! :-S :-S :-S... Cost us a bomb too :-S.It is a lovely set.It is just a real shame it can't be used .I must remind Hannah if she ever moves in with Gareth they need to have a kitchen/dining room that is long enough so we can get shot of this furniture taking up space here. :-S

I might invest in a pack of the Migraleve then Ann.It won't do any harm.I do find after having one of these ocular migraines that I feel quite weird for a couple of days.Almost like I am in a bit of a fog.(difficult to describe really),but just not quite with it . Bit Woozy is the best description......and it is nothing to do with alcohol :-D :-D

Are you sure about that Jane?? I know you and your glass of white........

Well I have shut the chickens in and the bantams and fed the hogs and now I only have to feed my other hog and I am finished for the day. Cheese and biccies tonight and I have already the plates out and fighting irons for the cheese and pickles so I think I shall go and wrap a few presents.

Jane have you tried a couple of paracetamol for the flashing lights?

I hav'nt watched WDYTYA yet. Anyone watching My Mother and Other Strangers?

Afternoon all

It's been sunny and not so cold today :-)

Pleased to hear you're feeling better today Frank. No Black Friday shopping here either today. Enjoy your match, hope West Ham win.

OH and I have taken the second sofa apart and OH took the rubbish down the tip. I was going to shampoo the carpet but with us having to put cushions on the floor to sit on I thought it best to wait until the new sofa's arrive tomorrow. It does look big in our living room now.

OH and I watched the F1 and Nico Rosberg won, Lewis Hamilton did his best to win by going as slow as he could while keeping in first position to back the pack up hoping that two cars would overtake Nico making him come 4th which would result in Lewis winning the drivers championship, but it didn't work, Nico came 2nd, he only had to come in the first three to win the championship so I don't think Lewis was to chuffed at losing and only by 5 points too. I think Max Verstappen will be the one to watch next year, he's the youngest ever F1 driver at just 19, apart from a few school boy errors he's a natural F1 driver.

Jane Report 27 Nov 2016 18:39

Mel what are you insinuating LOL :-D... Yes I do like my glass of white. Having one right now :-D...Just the one.
I take paracetamol on regular basis because of my hip so couldn't take more when I got the 'eye' migraine .

Gill ,comfy evening on the cushions then !! :-D.Ah just wait unti tomorrow night when you will all be sitting on lovely new seats :-D :-D
I haven't seen that programme Mel.
But I did watch MODUS.A psychological thriller .Swedish film with sub titles .....but it looks like it is going to be a good one :-) :-)

Rillington Place on this week .True Murder ................Would you believe it ....Fitz has a brick from the wall of the house where the murders took place!!!!!!... I need to ask him again how he got it. I just know he sneaked in (under cover LOLOL )He also has all the newspaper cuttings about the Murders.

Dinner just about ready to dish up now.

Yes Jane nice new sofa's tomorrow, I feel sorry for OH, laying on the floor isn't much fun with an infection, he said he was okay but I think he was just being kind. I did suggest we watched the TV in bed but he said it makes no difference. I've run him a bath as that seems to help ease the pain a bit and he's not bothered about Strictly so he can have a nice long soak while Sandra and I watch it.

I've recorded that programme Mel as I'm the only one interested in it so when I get some time I will watch it. I still haven't watch Poldark, not sure when I'll find the time to watch that.
How nice to see the bullfinch did you get a picture?

Pleased to hear you are starting to feel better now Ann, a good nights sleep always helps doesn't it?

Strictly's on now, so going to watch it.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Nov 2016 22:19

You should watch Poldark Gill. I just wish I could have recorded it to watch again but I am hoping oh may buy me the dvd's for Christmas. I know he has bought me a new camera. Seems to be getting in a rut!! what with two night camera's and I already have two digital ones. One very old one you had to buy batteries for and they did'nt last long and the one he bought me a couple of years ago which they now don't do a thingy for my pc.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Nov 2016 22:27

Jane no we don't have a special collection for papers. I only have the one paper on aSaturday with my tv paper in it. Di like the paper to light her fire with so she has those and the recykling get the tv papers plus all the rubbish we get in the post. That goes out with our small green box, no lid, in a green plastic sack. I save the papers up for a few weeks and fold the bag in half and put it on the top of the bin so it dos'nt all blow all over the place. For cardboard we have a beige plastic sack. That dos'nt go out because oh burns all our cardboard when he has a bonfire. He dos'nt agree with the recykling because he says ours all goes to landfill anyway.

OOOOOOOOO I thought of something this afternoon. MOON BOOTS..... did any of you have them? I was given a pair but they were a bit big for me but boy was I pleased I had them whe I lived in Suffolk and we had all that snow. I had the pet shop then and had no heating in it only in a small place behind the bird house.

The suns shining here and I think it could be a nice day, hopefully.

I have some washing to go out and I may go into Holsworthy as I have a few chores to do.

Morning you lot !!!! Evening Kim,

Well one good thing happened yesterday HONEY G got voted off X factor. I wasn't watching it, when the news came over. I see she was on L. Kelly this morning, and I have just heard her voice (for the last time I HOPE) on This Morning.

Would you believe I have an upset tummy again this morning (3 times in the last hour)

:-( :-( :-( I will take some immodium when I have my next drink.

During the WAR The newspapers were put in a sack that was on the fence behind the back gate. The DUSTBIN had the ashes in and any waste food and Veg trimmings were taken to the "PIG SWILL BIN" on the corning of the street. (that was a daily routine)

Had a better night on the new mattress, but boy is it hard ;-) ;-) ;-) But so nice not to sink down into it when you sit on the edge.

Harvey and Family are coming up Sunday Week for a family Christmas Dinner, so it looks like I will be a busy boy. The way Lewis is eating, I had better do extra of everything :-D :-D :-D

Ros isn't feeling 100% this morning so won't be goiung to her friends Funeral later this afternoon. I hope I haven't passed anything on to her <3 <3 <3

The West Ham match wasn't on T.V. yesterday, so the pub was very quite. They are playing Man. Utd on Wednesday in the CUP and that will be on T.V.

Mel, I can't see a cloud in the sky here. Blue sky's as far as the eye can see.

Shower time, see you later.

Gillx Report 28 Nov 2016 12:18

Afternoon all

Lovely and sunny here today too :-)

Sorry to hear you have a dicky tummy again Frank, the Imodium should help. At least you had a better night on your new mattress so that's good. Poor Ros being unwell now, does she have the same as you, there seems to be a tummy bug going round by the sounds of it?

I'm hoping to make a start on watching Poldark today Mel, I can't go out until the sofa's are delivered, they still haven't arrived yet which is good as I've just finished shampooing the carpet. I have a good carpet cleaner that doesn't soak the carpets so they don't take long to dry. I've popped the fire and heating on so that should speed things up incase the delivery men turn up soon.

Going to get a cuppa now and a bite to eat. I bet they turn up the minute I sit down with my sandwich :-(

Gillx

Gillx Report 28 Nov 2016 14:31

The carpet is dry now so I've turned the heating and fire off, it's like an oven in our place at the moment. I had someone come to the front door and they said they could feel the heat as soon as I opened the door.

The carpet people rang about 2pm and said they would be here within the hour so I'm just waiting for them then I can put the two tables back in the living room and be straight again ;-)

I've done a bit more painting in another room that needed doing and I've just put a load of washing in the machine, so quite a busy day for me so far. Needless to say I still haven't got round to watching Poldark so that'll have to wait for another day.

I've had to set my laptop up in my bedroom as the living room is almost empty, I didn't realise how big that room was. It'll be nice to have somewhere comfy to sit later on.

Well, I'd better go there'll be here soon. OH and Sandra are catching up with I'm a celebrity get me out of here in the dining room, so I'm enjoying a bit of peace and quiet before I have to start working again.

It's very quiet on here today, where is everyone?

Gillx

Gillx Report 28 Nov 2016 16:26

Is it just me on here today, I've never known it be so quiet, hope everyone is okay

Well, the sofa's are here, they are much bigger than the last ones so I've had to re-arrange things to fit the biggest sofa in, plus they are chocolate brown, which we're not used to as we've always had cream ones. On a positive they are very comfy. They're a lot higher than our old ones, which will take a bit of getting used to, but a lot better for OH as the backs were a bit low on the old sofa's for him.

I had to laugh as when the men arrived they said they didn't want to take the sofa's in the front door as we have a large shrub on the corner of the bungalow, so they wanted to use the back door, to which I said the sofa's wouldn't go through. They insisted on trying and after a while realised I was right so ended up bringing them in the front door. Why they didn't listen to me in the first place is anyone's guess. We've had a few sofa's over the years and none of them would go through the back door so I knew these wouldn't either. Never mind maybe next time the men might listen to the customer, after all they know more about their own property than the delivery men do.

I've just finished putting all the furniture back, OH and Sandra are still catching up with the jungle programme, so I might take a look at some sewing projects I fancy doing. The sofa's came with cushions in a lovely pale green diamond on a cream background so I've decided to use them in the two double bedrooms on the beds. I will have to make new backs for them as they are in chocolate brown and don't really look good with the light coloured front. I have lots of material so will choose something suitable to make new backs with and I'll also add zips so I can take them off and wash them. First job, unpicking them.......well, that's if I don't fall sleep on this lovely comfy sofa first LOL :-D ;-)

Been out all day. I had a good look round Holsworthy at my own pace in my own time. It was lovely. I got two good things for oh and the last thing I got was still on the Black Friday price taking it down to £12 95 instead of £29.95. I know hw already has one but this one has more attachments.

Also got something else for him and some bits and bobs. Got a small diary for aunt Joy for her bits and oh bought me some Yardley Lily of The Valley soaps but he dos'nt know it yet!!!!Ha Ha :-D :-D :-D It is one perfume I can take and when I wash my hands before bed its lovely to smell it. Old ladies perfume I hear you say but if its one of the only things you can use why not? I also like the Lavender soap.

Got some sprays of flowers for my wreaths in the florist with some lovely Christmas ribbon with a wired edge and 6 round oasis for some flower arrangements for down the shop.

I'm happier now I know I have some bigish pressies for oh. I never know what to get him.

Better shut the girls in and feed the hogs.

Annx Report 28 Nov 2016 17:56

Afternoon All,

I seem to remember the milk bottle tops being saved for the guide dogs for the blind. I can remember the schools collecting old postage stamps too.

Mel that came out of the blue didn't it........the MOON BOOTS! I remember having a pair and seem to remember it being a bit hard to bend your feet in them. You are doing really well with your present buying. It's nice being able to potter round shops on your own isn't it.....no chivvying or interruptions! lol :-) The male Bullfinches are beautiful aren't they......pity you couldn't get a pic. We hardly see any around here now. I like Lily of the Valley, Lavender and Eau de Cologne........all scents my grandmother wore!!

All our recycling goes in 1 bin now, but our council has collected newspaper to recycle since the 70s. I can remember leaving bundles tied with string next to the bin. Our big recycling bin gets filled every week as we have a few newspapers each day and, as I say all the plastic, tins and cardboard go in it now. The normal bin is usually only about a quarter full.

Gill you were lucky managing to get your carpet cleaned before the sofas arrived as it saved you moving them about after. I have chocolate brown ones too and the seats on mine were a little high for my short legs but they have settled to just the right height now!

I hope Ros hasn't caught your bug Frank and that she feels a bit better now! It sounds like you aren't fully recovered either so I hope you haven't had any more rushing to see your white friend. That was interesting what happened to rubbish in the war. When I was little, I seem to remember dad spreading a few of the ashes on the veg plot in the garden, also some of the soot when the chimney was swept. All our peelings went on the compost heap or were cooked with the mash for the Turkeys we had!

Furniture Barn.....that's the one Jane.......I couldn't remember what it used to be called! They seem to have more lamps, pictures, ornaments that sort of thing now and less furniture than I remember the old place had. They were very friendly there and gave us tea and coffee to have while we browsed but they left us alone and there was no pressure at all!

I had another good sleep last night and each day I feel a bit brighter and cough less so that is good as I said I would go to a meeting at the research centre on wednesday. It's to do with a study they will be doing about diet so I'm particularly interested. OH has already gone to an early meeting himself, but should be home soon. He had to blow a back tyre up before he went and said he met the lady who has moved into the first bungalow that the builder has completed. It doesn't even have a drive yet so it must be quite muddy. She had a beautifully marked cat on a harness and told OH it was a Bengal Savannah cross.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Nov 2016 18:33

If it was on a harness I suppose she keeps it indoors and dos'nt let it out on its own. That will be good for your garden. No more little visitors digging in your flower beds Ann.

I have just sorted the bits I have for oh and I have more than I thought. I can wrap some tonight when he has gone to bed and is out of the way.

Ann since you saying you bought G a record player I keep seeing one that closes up into a case with a handle you can carry it around in. Is that what you bought for G? I have seen it today for £40 thats the cheapest I have seen it.

Jane

Jane Report 28 Nov 2016 18:35

Evening All
So a nice cosy evening for you Gill on your new sofas :-D :-D..I bet it feels like bliss.
They sound lovely. Our new suite seats are much higher than the old one and it is so nice to be able to get out of them easily :-D..Not like before when we would have to almost roll onto the floor first LOL

Oh dear Frank, more tummy trouble :-(..How is Ros tonight? I hope she hasn't developed the same.

Moon Boots!!!.. No I never had them Mel.I'm not sure if any of my friends did either.
I am not a fan of Lily of the Valley soaps etc.I find them too sweet and a bit cloying .

The Furniture Barn place sounds a lot more customer friendly now Ann.I found it a very strange place when i was there about 6 years ago. It didn't have that welcoming feeling and it really was just furniture .

A friend has just rung and said her Niece aged 39 has just passed away from Breast Cancer. She leaves her husband and a little 15 month old daughter :-( :-(..Life is so cruel sometimes.

James is going to be late AGAIN tonight so I have only just put the dinner in.He will let me know when he leaves work.He gets later and later these days.

Did I just see we could be down to minus 7 tonight ????? Heck :-S
