Evening all,

Nice day here too ,lovely blue sky but quite chilly as we had a frost this morning.

Oh Mel i remember the Moon Boots ,they were very heavy to wear and were quite hard rubber .
We have one black bin for recycling, paper, card, plastic cartons and glass jars can go in , every thing else goes in the green bin and each one goes two weeks before they are emptied.

That was good you got your carpet cleaned before your sofa's arrived Gill, you'll soon get use to the height of the new ones .

Got my Christmas cards out ready to start writing tomorrow , isn't it sad when you go through your list and see names crossed out of people no longer with us :-( i must make a new list .

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Nov 2016 19:29

My Moon Boots were'nt heavy at all. They had a thick sole which was hollow and on top of that was a thisk layer of foam and then an insole. The outer was just thin plastic which had eleastic round the top and the leg bit was also lined in inch thick foam so when you had them on the elastic came over the foam and round your leg so you did'nt get snow down them. They were great even though they were too big for me I could wear lots of socks.

I was going to do pasta tonight but oh has just said he would'nt mind toasted cheese sandwiches so I am having cheese on toast. Suits me.

Posted my cards today, well most of them. I just have to check my cousins address from aunty Joy.

What a sad thing Jane and at this time of year too and only 39. My heart goes out to them.

Jane Report 28 Nov 2016 20:13

Yes it is so sad Mel. I suppose the only positive thing is is that the little girl has been without her Mummy for some time now as she was in hospital for quite a while,so may have been used to not having her around .Her Dad has always been a hands on Dad which will make things slightly easier for him.Even so a very sad and difficult time.

I posted my cards for abroad today. All the rest are ready to go ,but not until DECEMBER :-D.
Mandy ,I think this is the first year that I haven't had to cross anyone off my list because of someone passing away...Hope I don't speak too soon !!. Last year I think it was 3.
:-(

We have just booked a Hotel in London for Feb 11th.Hannah has something planned for Chris and James's joint Birthdays . Just need to sort Thomas out now.

Sorry to hear about your friends niece Jane. Like you said her daughter has probably got used to mummy not being around. 39 is such a young age it can't be easy on her husband though.

I'm having an early night, I'm shattered after everything I've done today and now have a terrible headache which the painkillers haven't touched so I think some sleep might do me more good. I started with a sore throat earlier which isn't helping. So I'll say goodnight and see you all tomorrow

Good evening all

Pleased to hear your new furniture arrived ok Gill , we had a brown dralon G-Plan suite when we had a 3 story house with the sitting room upstairs and the settee wouldn't go up the stairs so they had to take the large widow out and get it in that way, fortunately it came from my Dad's shop so if it had to go back it wouldn't have been a problem. When we moved here it went out the same way, we didn't have double glazing then so not too much of a problem, this was 28 years ago when we bought the house we are in now.

Mandy those photos of Max are lovely he has turned into a beautiful boy give him a big cuddle from me.

I don't seem to have done much today I have been so tired all day [don't know why]
my eldest S.I.L rang as she usually does on a Monday and was on the phone for nearly 2 hours. My youngest S.I.L. has been to the funeral of the little boy that was run over and killed a few weeks ago, he was the half brother of her youngest grandson and they were good friends. they had a horse and carriage for the coffin.

Jane that was very sad about your friend's niece and her baby daughter growing up without her Mum and her husband having to cope without her too,.life can be so cruel sometimes

Frank how horrible having the trots again, you will be losing more weight, which you don't want to do .It sounds as though you are getting used to the new mattress.

Abbie and Becky came as usual yesterday Paul wasn't with them as he had an adult pre Christmas weekend at Butlins, Bognor Regis there was quite a lot of them going so I hope they had a good time. Abbie was quieter than usual but her friends have rallied round and she has had a lot of hugs from them. One of her best friends is a gay lad and he has helped her through this.

I can remember Moon boots Mel but didn't have any, I have quite small feet and being slim they didn't suit me.

Morning All

How are you all today? Throats, knees, tummies ?

The sun is shining and my windows look disgusting again :-S.Still lots of frost around and a solid bird bath.I must get that thawed.
Thomas has gone off in a strop as I have just done his spot on worm stuff.Lord know what he has eaten outside earlier but there was one rather big pile of innards :-S :-S

That must have been a really sad day yesterday Anne for your SIL and all the young boys family and friends :-(
Are you feeling less tired today?I hate feeling like that when you have no get up and go.
I am going to have a few hours away from the computer as I had another eye episode at 5 this morning when I got up for the loo.So I think no tv and no laptop for a while.

Morning Jane and all, evening Kim,

So far so good this morning, I don't think there is anything left inside me !!! Ros hasn't mentioned anything so I assume she is alright.

Oh Jane what terrible news, :-( :-( :-( Who will help bring up the 15 month old child ??

Have rung the hospital this morning I have another appointment at 7.00 pm 6th December. so will take things easy, and try not to upset my knee.

Ros has just finished another dozen baby covers, ready to go back to "LINUS" She won't be able to go to the next meeting as we will be away, so she will get Margaret to take hers..

Sue, one of the Doctors nurses is leaving tomorrow, after many years of service. Ros has got her a card and a little "thank you" present. , which she is going to drop off this morning.

It's a beautiful sunny morning here, after a very frosty night. There was talk of minus 7 degrees as Jane said.

Jane, would a neighbour be around to let Thomas in and out for the night you are away. Or would Fitz do it for you. ??

Gill, did you and OH have a nice cuddle up on the new sofa ?? I bet it felt strange having firm seating after the old one.

What are you all doing today.?? I ordered more Jewellery for Ros yesterday. So I am finished my shopping, unless I see something else she might like.

<3 <3 <3

House to myself now, she's gone to deliver the covers and present. So I can get my shower and shave, and get my leg up, to give it a rest.

Morning All,

How sad Jane and only 39 and sad about the little grandson Anne mentioned too. Yes Mandy you are right.....we have a few names to cross off this year. :-S

That is a pain getting another migraine Jane. Is it worth keeping a note of what you have eaten the day before? I know OH gets them quite often if he has much cheese.

I'm feeling better each day now and slept like a log again last night. I still have a bit of a cough but actually feel better than I have for a few weeks which is great. The washer has finally packed up!!!! :-S :-S I did the shower curtain in it the other night and noticed some marks still on it after, but I noticed last night that the drum doesn't move when it should spin!! Now I have the headache of which machine to buy as I hate the one I have as it is too complicated! You have to press about 3 combinations of buttons and the main switch just to remove an error code. I've looked on line and am popping down the road to Curry's this afternoon to ask which of the ones I like are easiest to use!! I'm sounding like an old lady now. lol. I can have another look at the cameras while I'm there. :-D

Mel, there are a lot of different ones in the suitcases, all prices and I expect OH will want one that has good sound quality. They are such a good idea though. Yes, that's just the thought that went through my head when OH said the cat was on a harness........no nasty presents/surprises in the flower borders!

OH had a dentist and docs appointment this morning and was in a flap as he couldn't find his ice scraper for the frost. Just as he was going the surgery phoned to say his doctor was ill and that they'd cancelled his appt. Could I attract his attention through the window.........NO........and off he sailed up the road so I had to text him as he was going straight from one appointment to the other. At least his teeth were ok and no work needed on them.

Better get going now! BBL.

Morning all just,

I have been outside doing frozen bird water fr the last half and hour. The female pheasent were following me after corn and I gave them some and did the chickens and when I got back to the garage they were following me again. Did the wild birds water and the bantame were ok as they get a bit of sun in the morning.

Its still all frozen where the sun has'nt reached but I would rather have a morning lik ethis than that horrid sark dreary days we've had lately. I love a frosty morning..

Mel. Postman just been. Thanks for the cards. I have opened the Christmas Card, and left the other for 22nd Dec. I will open that in Devon.

I had a nice shower and shave. Ros got me a Cup of soup. which went down a treat when I had got dressed.
My right shoulder and ribs feel very sore. I can't see any bruise's, Ros said the way I went down last week could have something to do with it, perhaps I an bruised inside.

Ros has just gone out with Carolyn. They are going to Towcester as Carolyn has to take her car to the garage there. They will then go to Tesco. Smaller than Northampton, but will have what we need.

Still very sunny here, but by the look of it, COLD. Someone showed the temp in their car this morning MINUS 6. that was at 8.00 am.

Belly pork Spare Ribs tonight in a Chinese Marinade, chips and Corn on the cob. Makes a change.

Nasty Air Crash in Brazil/ with over 70 dead.

Gillx Report 29 Nov 2016 17:26

Afternoon all

It's been frosty here all day, the sun only made it to the bottom of the garden so the rest of the grass is still white with the frost.

Thanks Mel for the Christmas card, Sandra says thank you for her little pressie's. The fairy is now in pride of place at the top of her Christmas tree and just finishes it off nicely :-D she loves the spinning top and the socks too.

Pleased to hear you're starting to feel better now Ann. Sorry to hear about your washer hope you find a new one that's easy to understand. Our cooker seems to be playing nicely now after the episode of the rings going off, unfortunately the ignition broke so we've had to buy a long type of lighter to light the gas rings now, Sandra doesn't want to light it that way so if she wants to cooks something we have to turn it on for her. I've been wanting a new cooker for a while so might take a look in the sales after Christmas to see what's out there. I fancy a range type one with two ovens instead of the tiny cooker I have at the moment.

It's nice that Abbie is getting support off her friends Anne, it can't be easy for her right now. Hope you are feeling less tired today

I think Ros might be right Frank, hope your shoulder and ribs feel better soon.
I caught something about the air crash on the news this morning, wasn't there some survivors? I didn't hear it all, but I think that's what they said.

Hope you are feeling a bit better now Jane, it's horrible when you get a migraine isn't it?

I'm still not very well, I didn't sleep properly last night and felt sick this morning with a bad migraine, I've not long woken up after a couple of hours sleep and at least the migraine is only a headache now, so the sleep helped a bit and my throat isn't as bad today either. I seem to feel better if I stand outside so OH was wondering if it might be the glue on the new sofa's that's making me feel sick, hopefully if it is then in a few days I might feel a bit better once the smell subsides.

We've moved the sofa to where the old one was and took away the end table as the sofa is slightly longer than our old one, which looks much better than where we had it yesterday. Because it's a dark colour it's going to take a bit of getting used to, but it's so comfy I've fell asleep on it twice already.

Jane Report 29 Nov 2016 17:27

I thought I would just pop in quickly now.I have been left with a dull ache right over my eye which is really annoying.I have not really done anything today other than wrap a few presents.Just sat like a lump really .My eye is still a bit blurry and I still feel a little foggy.I hope this eye migraine isn't going to become a regular thing :-S

Good idea Ann to make a note of what I have to eat.I do see that certain things might be a possible cause especially MSGs (think those letters are in the right order !! )

That cat sounds a beauty.Maybe it only ever goes out with a harness.Bengals are not like normal moggies and I believe quite valuable.

It does sound like your aches are from your fall Frank,You did say you went down like a sack of spuds !!!!!.

Chris picked up the new tablecloth this morning .It is nice and will look good on the table for Christmas. This afternoon I ordered some new gold tablemats and coasters .(haven't told Chris that LOL )He would say the old ones would do. I disagree :-D :-D

Thomas must have a bit of an upset tum as he had a bit of a dirty bum earlier.Must have been that creature he had :-S.I am wondering if it might have been a Rat rather than a mouse because of the amount of innards .He has been in and out all day and not really settled for long .I will have to check his behind again when he comes in.

The frost never cleared from our lawn today ,especially down the bottom of the garden .Temperature tumbling now.I think we may leave the heating on low tonight as it is going to be a really cold one.It took Chris ages to scrape and defrost the windows on his car this morning.
Fitz called in this afternoon. He had an 11ft Xmas Tree in his car !!!!!!!!!. He will have to get his son down to get it out with Georgette. His cousin died on Friday .I think he had had Bowel Cancer.I met him a couple of times at Fitz's parents funerals. So Fitz will have to go to London sometime next week for his funeral.

Ann, you sound as though you are just about back to normal .It has been a long time hasn't it. Back on form :-D :-D

Going now as I have looked at this screen too long, and I need to get the Spag Bol on the go.
Thomas is in and has a clean behind :-D

Annx

Annx Report 29 Nov 2016 18:24

Yes I have heard of those MSGs Jane. I seem to remember them being in Chinese food? You will be very smart with your new tablecloth and mats this Christmas! That is just what OH would say about getting new things too! After so many years of looking at the same old things you want a change however nice the old things are!! lol. My word what a big tree Fitz has got! He must have been driving home peering through it like a Japanese sniper!!! It must take a bit of getting in position and he must be careful with his back!!! :-S It's a shame about his cousin. I hope his back holds up going to London for the funeral. He'll still be in his 'stockings' won't he?

I didn't get far with my new washer. The labels on them didn't all have all the info on them so I kept on having to ask. Then the assistant seemed hell bent on selling me a particular model and kept extolling it's virtues despite me telling her twice that it was too deep to go under the worktop!! I think I've decided what to get now though so will order it tomorrow morning. I hope we don't have to wait long for it or we'll be dashing out to buy extra pants, socks etc!!

It's good they've sorted you another appointment and for before you are away too Frank. It does sound as if that nasty fall is still affecting you but at least you are getting over the bug and Ros seems not to have caught it.

I hope your headache is easing now Gill and that you feel a bit better. I see you have been shifting your sofa to a better position.

OH is at another meeting and has been typing away all day. It seems particularly busy up till Christmas now and he has also agreed to cover for one of his colleagues one night.

THOMAS MUST HAVE WASHED HIS BUM WHILE HE WAS OUT JANE!!

Sorry did'nt mean to shout. I had just gone through the pics oh downloaded for me while I was out today.

Frost stayed here all day in some sheltered places. The trouble was the chickens water. I could'nt get the tops off this morning so just filled the trough bits up. When I fed the hogs tonight their water bowl was frozen so I shall have to have a look a couple of times tonight to make sure they have water before I go to bed.

Gill I had that top in a cracker and thought what a great one it was as it spun so easily and also it was PINK!!!!!!!!!!! The min I saw it I thought of Sandra. I played with it for ages............silly old thing. I made the little bird too.

I'm so pleased she liked the fairy. If she gets a bit squashed you have to hold her by her head and give her a shake then smooth her skirt down with your hand and then put a flat hand under her skirt and lift it a bit all round. Trouble is I did'nt get a good pic of her to show the others as they have all come out a bit dark and yellowish because I did it with the light on.

Curry for him tonight and I have my minced beef and onion pie I like. Just one left this week so I was lucky to get it. I'll do a jacket with it and maybe a few sprouts.

Jane Report 29 Nov 2016 18:49

Gill,I am sorry you have had a migraine.I don't know what that must feel like as I never get 'the headache'. Just the eye disturbance, a dull eye ache, and feeling a bit weird and woozy. Never nauseous.

Ann,I have a LG washing machine. For the most part I have been very pleased with it.
I did have the problem with the door catch a few weeks ago but touch wood it is all fine now. There are a lot of choices for the various washes ,self cleaning ,high and low speed spins, etc etc.But it is a good machine and I am not scared of it any more LOL
I dread being without a washing machine. What with all James and Chris's washing !!
They have far more than me :-S.
I remember when we bought our first house in Nailsea(Bristol)..No washing machine,no nothing really. We just made do for a while. But all my washing I did in the bath ! No mangle lol .Boy it was heavy going ,especially sheets trying to squeeze the water out by hand and then get it all downstairs to put it all on the line. Makes me sound like a wimp when you think what our anscetors had to cope with.

How Fitz drove back with that tree in the car is mind boggling ... Chris had to see him out of our drive as he couldn't see anything out of the left hand side of the car !!!!!!

He got the tree at Beckworth (Frank) They always let Fitz know when they have a couple of really big trees in.Then Fitz has to get there quick to bag one :-D :-D

Better get on with food now.James is still at work !!!

I meant to say I think 'RUDOLPH' might be making an early appearance... I have what could be a cracking spot appearing right on my nose !!!!! :-S :-S :-S..Not funny :-(

Anne Report 29 Nov 2016 21:08

Good evening all

Gill sorry to hear you have also had a migraine. Peter use to get them after eating oranges and drinking the juice, when I get them, bright lights can start them off or stress.

Ann I have a Miele washing machine and it came with a 10 year guarantee it does a 20 min, wash so is very cheap to run. We buy all our electrical goods from Bells a family run business in Crowthorne, they deliver the next day plumb the appliances in and take the old one away for no charge

I went to the hygienist this morning so that's the last dental appointment for 6 months, tomorrow it's down to the doctors for the yearly diabetic eye screening, I must remember to wear my sunglasses if the sun is as bright as it was today and after eye drops I shall need them.

I have now written all my Christmas cards but won't be posting them for a few days plus I have a few birthdays in December.

I did a roast chicken in a bag for dinner only £4.50 and more than enough for 3 plus the two cats had some

O dear Jane thats sounds very sore. I hope it dos'nt get too big. :-S

I missed the begining of Rillington Place so I shall watch it later.

My pc has been doing a lot of huffing and puffing so oh had it apart while I was out to clean it up as I could see a lot of dust on the fans. He said he was going to do something to the drivers. God knows what they are but I have been on here for a while and its doing it more now than it did before.

Frank glad your going to save your birthday card.

Now for the rest of the week I shall be doing the church advent ring.

Annx

Annx Report 29 Nov 2016 21:25

That was a cheap dinner Anne! We eat quite a lot of chicken and doing it in the bag like that is good as the pan doesn't take so much cleaning.

I would have liked a Miele machine or the LG Truesteam washer dryer, but both are too deep to fit under my worktop without sticking out too far. In the end I have gone for a Bosch. The trouble is I ordered it on line from Curry's, having looked at the delivery times which were good, but then when I was printing off the order it said it would be dispatched as soon as available 2-4 weeks so it looks like it is out of stock which I never even noticed!! :-S If I can cancel it tomorrow I know that John Lewis have them in stock and only cost a bit more so I can get one quicker from there. If not, we'll definitely be needing more pants/socks/shirts/tops etc. It would solve what presents to buy each other this year!! lol. :-) :-D

I forgot all about 10 Rillington Place!!!

Gillx

Gillx Report 29 Nov 2016 21:40

Sorry Mel I forgot about the little bird you made, Sandra thinks it's cute and has it under her Christmas tree. Hope your pc is sorted soon, at least you have someone who knows what he doing to fix it. I wouldn't have a clue.

So you're putting Rudolf out of business now Jane. It's not funny when something like that happens on your nose is it? That's a big Christmas tree Fitz has, but if I remember correctly he has a large area to put it in so he'd need a big tree or it wouldn't look right. Hope he hasn't hurt his back getting it in and out of the car. He must have an awful big car to accommodate a tree that size.

So you have chosen your new washer now Ann, fancy the sales assistant trying to sell you one that wouldn't go under the worktop. Hope it doesn't take to long for them to deliver it for you.

I think I might be having problems with migraines because of stress I'm under at the moment Anne. My mum was taken into hospital, she had a bad asthma attack and now has problems with her liver and kidney functions. I'm hoping to go and see her tomorrow as I couldn't go yesterday with waiting for the sofa's to arrive and OH has been in work today, he doesn't get in from work until around 9pm and visiting is over by then. I've kept in touch with mum by phone but it's not the same as visiting her.

We're hoping to put the Christmas tree up for Sandra tomorrow, we were going to do it today but I didn't feel well enough and OH had to go to work so it didn't get done. I just hope it'll fit in the corner where we normally have it now we have larger sofa's, it might be a bit of a squash but hopefully it will still look good. OH is going to check the lights tomorrow with them playing up last year. I must make a start on my Christmas cards soon.
