Sandra's keeping me occupied Mel so I didn't realise how late it was, my headache has eased a bit too. I was sorting some of my things out and she offered to help, so that's done now, I still have some more to sort out but might leave that until later or another day. At least one room is starting to look a bit tidier now and I can finally see the bed. I had all sorts for Christmas on there which has now been put in the correct places, all I need to do now is write all my Christmas cards out. I'll have to make a list as a lot of them on my old list have now sadly passed away.

Sandra and I have decided to use the stuff I bought to make tree decorations for the little one in the living room as we ran out of branches on her pink tree and didn't use all the stuff, so that'll be something nice for us both to do,

I have found some sewing books but not the dressmaking book I was looking for, maybe that'll be in the next lot of stuff I need to sort out ;-) Sandra has been looking at the books. I have one on making cushions which I though would be a good start for Sandra as she wants to learn to sew.

With OH not being home yet I assume they've decided to do the op today, so he'll be well looked after when he gets home Mel.

Going to get a cuppa now then start making the Christmas tree decorations with Sandra, she's worried about her gran and dad too, so it'll take her mind of things for a while.

Sorry I didn't see you there Ann, I'm the same as far as bridges are concerned I remember going to Bristol with OH and we had to go over the Clifton Suspension Bridge. I just closed my eyes until OH had driven over it. Good job I wasn't driving LOL. ;-)

I wouldn't even try to go 27 floors up or even the 9 your OH did, just the thought of it would make me shake.

I'm trying to keep busy to take my mind of mum and OH, so far it seems to be working as my headache has almost gone. I can't take strong painkillers but Sandra has some soluble paracetamol which tastes awful but is really good. Maybe because it's a liquid it might be getting into my system quicker. Sandra said she only tried them once and hated them so won't take them again. I ran out of paracetamol tablets last night which is why I tried the soluble one, I will be using them again as it's the only thing that seems to work at the moment.

Mum's just rang and said she should be coming out of hospital today or tomorrow, she might need a nurse to come and see her at home as she's still having a bit of trouble with her asthma but her chest infection has cleared and her kidney and liver functions are now back to normal. I've suddenly started to feel myself relaxing, I didn't realise how tense I was, all I need now is OH home and I'll be a lot happier.

Morning all, Evening Kim,

Well you have been busy since I was on yesterday afternoon, when do you find time to do other jobs. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I walked to the pub last night. The Village Hall car park was showing signs of frost, so I rang Ros to pick me up after the match.

Sorry to hear to are under the weather with worry Gill, at least Mum is coming home and I am sure the operation on your old man will be a minor affair. SO STOP WORRYING it won't do you any good.

Had a call from my mate in Kettering this morning. He is off to see his daughter in the States the same day that we go away, and back the 20th January. He has the most beautiful grand daughters you ever did see. They are singers, and do a lovely duet at various local functions. They are twins aged 17. His daughter is the same age as my children Sarah and Simon.

Ros has baked a load of sausage rolls and taken them to "STITCHERY DO" this morning, others are doing nibbles, mince pies etc. So it will be a little party before they break for Christmas.

I am pleased to say, I can go to any heights, but SPIRAL STAIRCASES get me every time. In London's Pudding Lane there is the Monument where the Great Fire of London broke out. As a child I tried to climb it many, many times, and could never get more than halfway up. It was the same at Warwick Castle, and that is only small compared to the Monument. It's a good job we aren't all the same.

I expect Madam will be getting the Christmas tree up this weekend with all the decorations and outside lights. I have told her not to bother as we won't be here. I bet she won't take any notice of me. <3 <3 <3 And we won't be here for 12th night.

Sun is very bright this morning with clear blue sky's. But very cold as my knee will tell you. I have put a bandage round it today, to keep it warm together with the heating on. Will catch up with you all later.

I've just rang OH and he is having the op today but he doesn't know what time, they were going to send him home today but the doctor said it needs doing so he's just waiting now. I think he might have to stay in overnight as they have to put him under for the op. I asked OH to asked them to ring me when the op is over so I know he's alright.

Going to get something to eat now as I haven't eaten all day.

THIS IS FOR SANDRA.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I have just recieved your card and I must say how beautiful it is. You're a clever girl making such a lovely card with all those butterfly sticker on it and I love the elephants inside which you got when you went to Chester Zoo.

Thak you very very much.

I did have a bit of a job getting into it with all the sticky tape but it made it so much more interesting as I had to open it from the bottom and oh was laughing at me. It was his idea to open the bottom.

Sandra said she's glad you liked the thank you card Mel <3

She always says thank you, the fairy you made her looks lovely at night with the Christmas tree lights glowing underneath it. It's matches the colours of her room too and she loves it.

I'm really tired at the moment I'm trying not to fall asleep on the sofa as Sandra and I are catching up with our programmes I recorded last night.

We've made a start on the small Christmas tree in the living room and I've added the pearl lights I bought for Sandra's pink tree. With this tree being green you can't see the wire between the lights like you would of done if they had gone onto Sandra's tree, so I'm glad I put the clear wire ones on her tree now. I found some small pieces of red and gold tinsel which I've wrapped around the base of the tree and also a red and gold wreath I made a few years ago I've stood the table lamp in, so it all matches in the corner now. Sandra found some Christmas pictures and has put them on the fire surround, so it's starting to look a lot like Christmas now. ;-) ;-) The advent calendar I made Sandra is red, so we seem to be having a red and gold theme this year <3

We got back yesterday about 3pm, but have been busy with unpacking , washing and other rubbish jobs! We've had a fabulous two weeks, first the weekend with our son and then Portland which was wonderful. The weather got better and better so we were able to have some lovely walks, Lulworth, Durdle Door and all the old haunts we frequented when we lived there all those years ago. The hotel's (we stayed in three) were top notch, but not cheap!! As you know, we don't buy Xmas presents for each other, but do or buy something we both want, and this year it's been this holiday, so we are both well chuffed. Thank you for the Xmas card Mel. I shall, as usual, send out e.cards to all and sundry; the postage just gets too much so I don't do it any more!
Must get on as son is coming to supper! Haven't read all the posts, so hope everyone is ok.

Afternoon All
Glad you had a wonderful week Liz,and so lucky with the weather too :-D :-D..I loved that area of Dorset when we went for a week a few years ago.

Gill ,I reckon it is all tension headaches you are getting with the worry about your Mum and OH. But at least you know now Mum will be home soon and OH's op will be over shortly .I imagine he will have a fairly light G A as it sounds a quick op. You say you are a born worrier, which must be horrible for you. As for heights,I don't mind them as long as I don't have to be near the edge.

I went to bed last night with a slightly sore throat and pain in my ear when I swallowed .Woke in the night with a real sore throat :-S..It is turning into a right old cold now.
I did get to the hairdressers though :-).I almost cancelled but then thought I might not be able to get in for another appointment next week. So hair cut done :-D..Colour due asap :-D

That was nice Mel of Sandra to send you a lovely thankyou card :-D :-D

My BIL Larry has to have a 24hr heart monitor .It seems he might have something called Sick Sinus Syndrome.I have not heard of that before. It could mean that he will need a Pacemaker..So yet another worry for my Sister :-S

Chris has lit a load of candles in his study and has The Moody Blues playing !! All lovely and atmospheric. But he a smelly candle so I staying well away LOL

Ready meals for us all tonight. No way I feel like cooking a proper meal.

Ann,I did check Thomas's bum lol when he was on the settee. Clean as a whistle thank goodness. When Chris came downstairs this morning Thomas was asleep on there again !..I will have to put a blanket on there at night I think now.

Frank are you still getting on ok with the new mattress?

Those table mats and coasters I ordered arrived today..That was swift !!!!..I told Chris what the package was and just said "poof ,waste of money lol " I also ordered today one of those Jigsaw Puzzle roll mats as he has bought yet another very difficult looking puzzle for Xmas.I get so fed up every year not being able to use the coffee table for weeks because of a dratted puzzle being on there!!!!

I wonder Mandy if Nicko has a personality problem and maybe some strange ways which makes it hard for these people to have him living in their house. It does seem strange that they are willing to let him stay 'on their property' but not integrating .
There has to be a good reason. That is shocking though that he has gone down further on the housing list just because he is in an out house !!!!!!!!..That makes no sense to me at all...Maybe it is just the fact he has a roof over his head and he is not out in the open.

I think I need to have a couple of paracetamol.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Dec 2016 18:35

Jane thats just how my rotten cold started with a sore throat. I hope you don't get one like I had as it hung arround for three weeks plus. Oh is still coughing and I gave him his cold for his birthday on the 6th.

Lliz you saying about Durdle Door and Lulworth. I can just hear my dad saying Durdle Door now. We went there when I was young and stayed in Lulworth somewhere and went to the cove. Happy memories............

Glad you enjoyed your couple of weeks break but its always nice to get home. Bet you had some great walks too.

Well after many attempts I managed with oh's help to get my money out of Barclays. I don't like all these machines they send you to use and hav'nt used that account since they took over from Ing Direct. It is now safely in my currant account so I can manage it how I want to.

Did the library today and the last lot of books I had (3 of them) were awful and I did'nt listen to any of them so that was a waste of £7.50 but Julie our usual girl ordered me three which all looks just the ticket for me and I found another one I took too so this lot has to last me till 26th January which is the next time the library comes to our gate. If I need them before then I shall have to go to Torrington.

Sheep sh*t pie tonight so I better get on with it.

Glad you got your money sorted Mel :-D
I hope my cold will just disappear and not develop any further. Throat not so sore now but I am full of paracetamol and Brufen.Plus some of those Soother lozenges.
Are all the books you get from the travelling library listening books? I have never had them.I do love my Kindle.I must have about 12 books on there all lined up to read now.
I was never sure about having the Kindle as I love holding a 'proper' book. But have to say it is the best thing I have.I couldn't be without it now. Have you ever thought about having one? I get the books cheap as chips
:-D Sometimes even free.

Sorry to hear you now have a cold with the sore throat Jane and, as Mel says, I hope it isn't one of these bad ones going around. It's good you managed to get your hair cut though. I was doubtful about keeping my appointment last week but thought I might not get another before Christmas if I cancelled it. At least it was all trim for my trip to A&E the same night!! Poor Larry, he and your sister have had a rough time of things haven't they. I hadn't heard of it either.

That was nice of Sandra to send you a card Mel. I still have a bit of a cough and so does OH who passed it on to me! He must have had it about 3 weeks now.

OH had a doc's appointment today and has to wait for a hospital appointment to get his prostate checked out as it's a bit enlarged, although his PSA test was normal. It might explain why he's always nipping to the loo!

I'm glad you had a nice time Liz and I bet Cas enjoyed all the new places to walk! Last time I went to Dorset it was to see Thomas Hardy's cottage and I remember visiting Lulworth and Durdle Door.

I hope Gill's hubby is back home now and that she is happier.

Beading tomorrow......another bracelet.......this time with triangular beads!

Gillx Report 1 Dec 2016 21:51

Sorry to hear you're not well Jane, hope it doesn't last to long, hopefully it won't with you dosing up on meds. Glad you managed to get your hair done as like you said you'd be lucky to get another appointment straight away. Sorry to hear about your BIL hope it's not to serious and he gets well soon.

It sounds like you had a great time away Liz and the weather was good to you too <3

That was a good idea to ask Ros to pick you up from the pub Frank if there was frost about, the last thing you want is to fall again.

Pleased to hear you got your money all sorted out now Mel. Hope you enjoy your new books.

The bracelet you are going to make sounds interesting with the triangular beads Ann. I'd love to see a photo of it when you're finished. Hope all goes well for your OH at the hospital.

My mum has just rang to let me know she will be coming out of hospital tomorrow so that's one less worry, she'll have the nurse go to hers for a while until her asthma settles down, they have put her on new meds so hopefully that'll help.

OH has just got in from the hospital, they didn't stitch it in the end, just packed it so he has to go to the doctors tomorrow to have the dressing changed, it looks like he might have to have that done everyday so he's going to see if they can come here to do it as sitting down in a car is quite painful. I don't mind driving him there but if it's going to be painful for him it would be better for the nurse to come to him, at least for the first few days. He looks so tired and when I rang the hospital before they said he was going to be staying in overnight. I've stripped the bed so now I'm trying to get it all dried in the dryer so he can go to bed. Luckily it doesn't take long to air after being in the dryer so it shouldn't take to long to finish it all off. Just the sheet and quilt cover to do now.
At least Sandra and I are not worried now OH is home and mum will be home tomorrow :-) Sandra is giving her dad a big hug bless her...my turn next LOL. I bet he'll sleep well tonight.

Signing out now so see you all tomorrow

So please your hubby got home tonight Gill. Hope he soon recovers and he's not in so much pain in the morning. They probably did'nt stitch it so it can drain if he had a lot of poison in it.

I always remember a rabbit I once had with an abscess on his cheel from a bite and I had to pull the scab off each day and wash it out with peroxide. I hated pulling the scab off the poor fellow but it had to be done. He recovered fine. His name was Winston and his wife was Bella both breeding lop eared bunnies. Bella had some wonderful babies too. She was black and he was brindle.

Morning Frank and all,

Another cold and frosty morning and I have just deiced the big girls drinker and hope it dos'nt freeze up again before I get it round to them. I brought it out last night and forgot to do it then and leave it empty for this morning. I also left the oil filled rad on all night and he noticed this morning!!!!!!!!!!! Naughty me............ As I sit here its still a bit warm and lovely round the old knees. Its under my desk in the cubbyhole where your legs go.

Sorry you had another bad night Frank. Hope you got some shut eye in the chair and Ros wakes you up with a COT.

Today I must finish the advent ring and get that down the church then start on some wreaths and posies. I must admit with the way my hands feel I am not looking forward to it so much this year and its cold out in the shed.

Gillx

Gillx Report 2 Dec 2016 11:43

Morning all

Dry but cloudy here today, no frost though which is good.

Sorry to hear you've had a bad night Frank. Good idea to get a few hours sleep but maybe sleeping in your bed would be better for you than the armchair.

How nice of you to help Winston Mel, even if it wasn't a nice job, he healed in the end which is the main thing and like you said it had to be done. Could you not bring the things you need for your wreaths indoors so you wouldn't be cold in the shed. You could always put a cloth on the floor to catch any mess. It would be better for your hands. Fancy leaving the oil filled rad on, at least it was nice and warm for you so that was a bonus.

OH is not very well at the moment, he feels sick and has a high temperature I gave him some paracetamol and I've just given him some dry toast for the sickness and he said he'll try some soup later as he thinks he feels sick because he hasn't eaten properly for a few days and also because of the anesthetic. He had to have his dressing done at 9.20 this morning so has decided to go back to bed and try and get some more sleep. I woke up this morning and he was asleep on the sofa because he couldn't settle in bed. I think a good sleep might do him the world of good.

My washer door won't open and OH said he would take a look at it, to which I said NO YOU WON'T it can wait, there's only his coat in there as he was sick on it last night and that can wait as he's not going out. He wore a gardening coat to go out this morning so he can do that again if needs be. He said I wouldn't be able to get the machine out from under the worktop so I said if I had to I would ask next door's grandson to help. He's a big man and visits his nan everyday so I'm sure he won't mind helping me pull it out then OH can talk me through fixing it later if he feels up to it. I'm sure Sandra and I will be able to push it back under the worktop once it's done.

Going to help OH into bed now be back later.

Anne

Anne Report 2 Dec 2016 12:06

Good Morning Everybody

I haven't been on here for a couple of days so must try and read all the posts later.

Thank you for the Christmas card Mel, yours was the first to arrive. I've written all my cards now and will post them next week

Love the photo of Thomas, Jane, he has certainly made his claim on your new settee.

David left for Chile at 3o/c yesterday afternoon, his flight was at 7pm for Madrid and then another to Chile, his permanent home will be in Puerto Montt. So we've lost a lodger and got the home back to ourselves, he wasn't any trouble but I wouldn't do it again.

Paul had to spend a lot of time in A&E with Becky on Tuesday, she had her false nail damaged when playing basket ball and it pulled the real nail away from its bed [ouch]

Pleased to hear you enjoyed your two weeks away Liz,with lovely weather It's a good idea to treat yourselves instead of buying Christmas presents, Peter and I used to do that.

Harley's funeral has taken place, the hearse was a white carriage pulled by white horses, he had a blue coffin. After the wake they let a lot of coloured balloons over the sea. A photo of him is on the front page of this weeks Hastings & St Leonards Observer, apparently it was on the BBC news.

Sorry to hear you've had another bad night Frank, have you thought of trying to have a nights sleep in your arm chair, well wrapped up of course.

I have just finished the advent ring for the church and mossed two rings for the wreaths and now I am going to get lunch.

Before I went out there I made a big pot of soup which now smells wonderfull.

Frank Report 2 Dec 2016 13:40

Afternoon all,

As I said yesterday Madam has got all the tree up, the lights are on it. Now he has all the box's of baubles to put on. There must be 100 or more, that's without all the beads strung around and the tinsel. I don't expect it to be finished before Dinner time tonight.

I did manage a good two hours in the chair wrapped in my dressing gown and a large fleece. Ros came out about 8.00 am and made me tea and toast.

She has prepared stewing steak in a casserole done the potato's, carrots and cabbage. So I have nothing to do towards getting dinner tonight.

Anne, I am pleased the funeral went off with no hitches. I bet it was a beautiful sight with the hearse and horses. It will be nice to have your home back, not many people would have done that for someone. You are a kind person. I know where to come when ROS throws me out !!! ;-) ;-) ;-)

Mel, I would think it's very cold trying to work in the shed. Haven't you got a fan heater that you could have on while you are out there ???

Nice to see you back Liz, and that you both had a nice break.

Glad your Mum and OH are home Gill. With a bit of TLC he will be as right as rein before you know it.

Horrible drab day here, not at all cold, but so miserable, I don't think it's got really light today.

Time for a bit of lunch. see you later.
