Dull old day here! Son was in excellent spirits! So he should be, they fly out to New Zealand in just over two weeks time for a month. Partner is staying on an extra two weeks to help her daughter with her new baby, so she'll be there for six weeks!! We don't put the decorations up till about ten days before Xmas, so not for about another two weeks! Not sure that we shall bother that much this year as we shall be out quite a bit, maybe a small tree and some greenery have to see how we feel!! Am just about to make some soup too Mel! Home made is much nicer than tins!

Afternoon all,
Been a dry morning but it's now started to rain and just as the children come out of school too.
Gill i hope Oh is feeling a little better now ,is he still on the antibiotics? It's probably the after effects of the anesthetic and if he hasn't eaten that isn't helping either . It must be very painful having to have it dressed each day . I hope your mum is now home too, you must be feeling happier now they are both home .
Mel i make a lot of soup ,what sort did you make today ? we like curried parsnip and cream of mushroom, i make potato and leek and also cauliflower and broccoli.
You still having a rough time with your knee Frank , not to long to wait for your appointment to see the surgeon , perhaps he could give you some sort of knee brace to wear to take the strain off your knee when you walk . So Ros is busy decorating the tree, i might do mine at the weekend ,the children like to see it when they come , they will soon be bringing their letters for father christmas, they like to see them go on the fire and up the chimney.
Oh poor Becky lifting her nail up ouch !! Makes my eyes water just thinking about it . So your lodger has gone to start his new life in Chile, you gave him a home when he really needed it ,he must have been very grateful for that .
Hope your feeling better today Jane .

Well the NEW THINGS that are coming out of box's is nobody's business. New remote control candles, new silver tree (both for window sill) She is getting a bag of stuff she doesn't use/want anymore for the charity shop. That will go tomorrow morning when she meets Martine. She has made two Cones of pearl beads which are sitting on the Mantel piece.
I have been hobbling around this afternoon. My right instep has been hurting. As soon as I sat down it stopped. !!! I took of my slipper and there was a Bloody great needle sticking through my slipper into the arch of my foot. No wonder it HURT.
Tomorrow afternoon I suppose Ros will start. putting up the outside lights. There is little I can do to help, but hold the steps and pass up the hooks for the gutter.
I think I would be full of SPIRITS if I was off to New Zealand. He could have taken some Christmas cards out there for me, to post. But too late they were posted yesterday. How old is the new baby Liz ??
Mel, As gill said can't you work indoors on your wreaths etc. You can then put them in the shed in the COLD !!!! That way it won't be hard on your hands. xxx
Mandy, It must me lovely having the children getting so excited about Christmas, and seeing their lists going on the fire to FATHER CHRISTMAS. I have never heard that before. So it proves "we learn something new every day"
Stewing steak is ticking away on a low heat. By 6.00ish it will just fall apart.
Nothing very exciting on the box tonight, so I will just "GRIM AND BEAR IT"

Poor Becky Anne, it made my eyes water when I was reading about it. That must of been so painful for her. So your lodger has gone now, like Mandy said you gave him a home when he needed it
Just had a call off mum, they have found a problem with her heart so she's not coming home just yet. She has to have some tests which they are doing on Monday then we'll know exactly what the problem is.
OH has not long woken up and is feeling a little better for the four hours sleep he had. Yes Mandy he's still on his antibiotics but only started taking them again after his sleep as he was feeling sick before. I had to smile as OH said he wasn't tired and probably wouldn't sleep but when I checked on him he was sleeping like a baby. I've never heard of children sending their letters to Santa up the chimney... you learn something new everyday ;-) ;-) ;-)
So Ros is busy decorating everywhere Christmassy now Frank? We've just done a small tree this year as we don't have the room we had last year to do anything big with the new sofa's in place now.
Going to try and move the washing machine now so OH can talk me through fixing it. He wants to fix it himself but I said NO I don't want him hurting himself, I'm sure with his guidance I can fix it myself and if not then I'll phone a repair man to do it tomorrow.
No Jane yet? Hope she's okay and her cold hasn't got worse <3

Baby is due about 10th January Frank. I think it's going to be a C.section, but I'm not quite sure!!They fly out on 19th Dec, then son comes back on 20th Jan, partner comes back two weeks after that! They should have a brilliant time as of course, it's summer there! We're having fish fingers, chips and peas for supper, nice and easy! Hope you're feeling better today Jane. It's a horrible cold which we both had just before our weekend in Surrey, so I hope you're ok!!!!

Afternoon All
I can only type this with a tissue stuffed up each nostril as my nose is like a tap now :-S.This is the first full blown cold I have had for a good few years I think. I can see me sleeping in Hannahs bed tonight as if it is anything like last night I will be snorting and sniffing ,tossing and turning and just keeping Chris awake .
Yikes ,poor Beckie and that nail !!!!.I hope it is not so painful for her now. So you have your house to yourselves again Anne. I know just what you mean. Years ago when my best friend died and her daughter (Rachel) was struggling with life and moving from one place to another not really knowing what to do with her life, she stayed with us for about 3 months.I think she was just 17 then.It was fine to start with but she had to sleep on the bed settee in the study which made it difficult for Chris to work (he was still working then) and her stuff was ALL OVER the place. Not that she coild help that as everything she had was her life. But as the weeks went on and she just lolled around watching tv it got to the stage when I had to ask her to really start looking for a job and then to find other accommodation. I felt dreadful really but it was having an effect on all of us with a lot of tension.Poor girl had been through hell and was obviously depressed, but she picked herself up and eventually moved on .She still struggled with not having any family of her own around (but we were her surrogate Mum and dad) and have been ever since. But just having our home back to normal again was such a huge relief.
Gill, how is OH this afternoon.I do he is feeling much better now and not so sick.It must be the anaesthetic making him like that. His back will be sore for a while but at least it is done now and hopefully he will have no more problems.
So it is Christmas now in your house Frank !!!! I can just see you amongst all the boxes, baubles and beads lol .Ros will be trying to keep you out the way so you don't trip over anything LOL I always wish I could wave a magic wand and the tree would be decorated in a flash :-D James is off work next week so we will go and choose a tree together as we do each year.It won't be going up though as I like to wait Like Liz 2 weeks /10 days before Xmas is what I like..There is a house in Barton Seagrave that has so many lights and decs on the outside of the house and garden.I will try and remember to get a photo of it. Heaven knows what the neighbours think lol..At least they probably will need no lights on in their house so might save a bit on the leccy LOL It is so bright !!!
Mel that was a good idea of the others suggesting that you do the wreaths in the house where it is warm and then pop the wreaths back in the shed .It might not seem very practical but at least your poor fingers will be warm and hopefully not crack any more.
Liz,New Zealand is somewhere I would love to visit. But it is far too far for me these days. I am sure your Son and his Partner can't wait to get there.
I need to get some clean tissues !!!!!

Hi snotty !!!! Hope you can catch your nose, while it's running away from you. !!!!
The casserole beef was just like eating BUTTER. so soft and the gravy was smashing mashed up in the spuds.
I haven't been feeling great this afternoon/evening. Ros dished up dinner and washed and wiped up, She's cleaned all down also. I am in my dressing gown and will just roll into bed when I feel like it. If it's early, and I am awake early, I will just get up again. My friend from Kettering rang this afternoon, to see if I was any better than yesterday.
I see Niko Rosborough (sp) has retired from racing. He only became World Champion on SUNDAY !!!!
Yes Jane it's been a bit hairy with all the bags and box's, but I have told her to sit and relax this evening. It will still be another day, tomorrow.
Must go and make a veg list for her for tomorrow. or she will forget something. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I have always done the wreaths indoors but it means clearing up the mess every night to get the dinner and then if I do more after dinner I have to clear up again before bed.
Last year was a first for mossing them in the shed but it was'nt so cold. I will probably end up doing them indoors anyway.
I always sent Santa a letter up the chimney when I was small. The draft would whisk it up there. I remember dad showing me how to do it and making sure I did'nt get burned. When my son was small we left it on the fireplace one night as we had no chimney breast in the lounge dinner at the back of the bungalow and a gas fire in the front room. I always wonder where the letter landed as dad must have gone out to make sure it was'nt in the garden where I may find it next day.
Just put chicken pieces in the oven covered with lemon slices with onion tucked around it.

Sorry to hear you're no better Jane, lets hope it clears up soon for you. No I don't watch the Coroner, Sandra normally has us watching Christmas films.
So Nico Rosberg has retired Frank, what a shock I didn't see that coming, but his wife has just had their first baby so maybe he just wants the family life now. He's been driving for 25 years and from what I've just read on the internet all he ever wanted was to be an F1 world champion, so now he is I don't blame him for retiring. I wonder who will take his place. Maybe Jenson Button or Max Verstappen ;-) Looking forward to the new season now. I think Lewis Hamilton might be in trouble with his boss for not doing as he was told in the final race, they weren't impressed with him going slow and not speeding up when he was told to.
So the baby is due 10th January Liz, how lovely. That will be mine and OH's wedding anniversary, it'll be 30 years, how time flies.
OH has had a bit of fish for dinner after a small bowl of soup so is feeling more normal now Jane, he said the sleep he had this afternoon really helped to.
Going to watch Eastenders with Sandra now, I recorded it while I tried to sort the washing machine out, I put it on another cycle and it seemed to help the door open so luckily I didn't have to pull it out in the end. I still think a new one is in order though as it's not the first time the door has jammed. At least I've got OH's coat out of the machine now ;-)

I had trouble with a washing machine door when I had a Hoover one. Never had any trouble with my last one and I think that was a Zanussi.

Mine's a Zanussi Mel, it only sticks on one cycle so I have to put it on a spin cycle straight after to release the door. If I use a different wash cycle it would take over 2 hours to wash instead of the 1 hour it takes now.
I'm really tired, it must be all the stress lately so I think I'll get off to bed, see you all tomorrow Night Night

Morning all
Dull day here, it looks like we've had some rain in the night
Hope you're feeling a bit better today Jane and Frank and you've both had a good nights sleep.
How are you getting on with your wreaths Mel? Hope your hands aren't to sore.
Nothing much planned for today so I might catch up on a few little jobs that need doing and write out my Christmas cards.
What's everyone else up to today?

Morning Jane
Sorry to hear you're still unwell, more sleep should help. OH is feeling much better and has just gone to have his dressing changed. He has to go to the hospital for the first week as there wasn't any appointments free at the doctors but after that he'll go to the local surgery and have it done. It looks like he might be off work for about 4 to 6 weeks. I hope the stitches will have been put in before Christmas day and the rest of the antibiotics clear up the infection, it'll feel much better for him then. He's worried that he hasn't bought me anything for Christmas but I said I'd rather have him better and not to worry, he's not fit enough to be traipsing around shops. Enjoy your sleep, hope you start to feel better soon <3

Did a bit of crafting last night and went to put the final things in place I had made (5 of them) found one but do you think I can find the other 4? I have looked everywhere.
Gill I hav'nt sone any wreaths yet just put the moss on two rings.

Morning all, evening Kim.
I slept from 11.00 pm until 9.45 am this morning, only got out once in the night. I took extra pain killers before bed last night so perhaps that was the answer.
Whe n I came into the lounge this morning there were new ornaments on the T.V. cabinet When I asked where they came from, she said "We have had those for ages" <3 <3 <3 believe that if you like. !!!
I had better get my skates on, Not had anything to eat yet, and I still have to shower and shave.
Trust all my sick friends are improving. Keep warm.
