Chihuahua Jane?!!! eeeek! That's an old ladies 'dog'?!!! Mind you they can be quite sparky, and can yap incessantly! I should think Thomas would eat it!!,! Perhaps the family won't want the dog leaving their home so you may be spared!!
Cas is whacked this evening! She's had a very good day and we now have four pheasants hanging in our feed store!!!
Hope everyone's coughs and colds are feeling better.

Evening all,

Foggy here this morning you couldn't see down the road it was so thick , it did clear and we saw a little sun but not for long ,the fog has now come down again .

No Mel i haven't made any christmassy things this year ,DIL did want me to make the wreath made with the foam swimming float but with Max on the go it's hard to lay things about without him having a sneaky grab at them ,you name it and he's had it in his mouth , the lastest is the tiny timer buttons on the cooker ,i noticed one button had gone then today blow me i heard him chewing some thing in his mouth when i looked there was another one missing ,i tried to get it out of his mouth but too late he'd swallowed it .
We have decided not to replace them as he'll only have another go at them so i have to poke a thin knitting needle in the hole to get the timer to work .
I'll buy a timer next time i'm in tesco's .

Thanks for your card Gill another pretty one i have them all on the mantle piece .

Yes Jane the nativity was lovely ,the little ones sang so well ,tomorrow we're back in the church to see Lacey in her nativity .
Katie has been excused from doing her nativity again tomorrow as that one is late afternoon and she has her birthday party ,they do like the children to go twice if they can but as it's her birthday she can miss that one .
Chihuahua's Colin says they are like a rat on a lead ,little ankle snappers :-D i carn't see Thomas being very happy with a dog in the house .
That was a late delivery , perhaps he couldn't see a light on next door so he just brought the parcel straight to you as you had a parcel to take in too.

Mel the fairy you made Sandra is pretty , i love the little mouse in the shell too .

Glad Cas had a good day , did she retrieve the four pheasants ?

Did th eshopping and I could have had a hot drink and a mince pie for nothing in the cafe but I wanted to go on to Tesco and have a look around there. I popped into West Devon and North Cornwall Farmers shop as they usually have some nice Christmas stuff in there but was very disappointed, nothing but packed up sort of present hampers and a load of sruff for the youngster like ear muffs and toiletries. then went on to Tesco up the road from there and I got aunty Joy a tiny Christmas cake all iced on top and with a wreath in mazipan in the middle. Just right for one person and it was only £1.

Liz Cas must have enjoyed her day out and she'll sleep well tonight.

Oh has downloaded the pictures I took when we had that hard frost and I am quite pleased with some of them. I shall send some on later but need to get dinner on now.

Jane what is this with poor James having to go into work when he is supposed to be having time off? Why did he have to go in? Could'nt someone else have done it whatever it was? That would really bug me.... :-|

Meat pie sprouts and jacket pot for me and curry for you know who. I don't like Chicken Tikka Masarla.

Anne Report 6 Dec 2016 19:24

Good evening all

It's been foggy here all day too but not so cold,

Thank you Gill for the pretty card, how is Sandra now, did the Beechams help her?

I hope to post my cards tomorrow, I needed to stay in today as I was expecting a delivery, so I wrapped up all the presents I have bought so far.

Loved the little fairy and tiny mouse tucked up in the walnut shell, Mel, I can see why Sandra was made up with them.

Jane your sister's dog is a little sweetie, she is enjoying her cuddle with Larry, my nephew's dog Lily is the same breed, I think, she is a cross between a Bichon and King Charles and very excitable.

Liz, Cas has been a busy girl and well deserves a rest, how long to you have to hang the pheasants before they are ready for cooking ?

When Abbie and Becky were easier to buy for they use to mark from the toys in the Argos catalogue their choices, that would keep them amused for ages. Abbie's gay friend is going on a new date and has asked her to go along as well, as he would like her opinion.

Ann , I didn't receive the photos of the Christmas Festival trees, may I have one please.

We had a postcard from Colin today he was in New York, lecturing in the museum of Modern Art, he said the Christmas decorations were marvellous,

I hope Katie enjoys her birthday party Mandy, I use to love watching the little ones in their nativity plays and the way the teachers find a part for all of them. Naughty Max chewing the buttons off your cooker, you will have to watch him with the decorations . When Rosie [our boxer before Amy] was young she ended up with a teapot still in it's cosy in her bed plus another time a carving Knife which we had on the worktop in it's own container this was fixed to the surface

Lets hope all the bugs , aches and pains are better by Christmas, they seem worse this year

Evening All,

So sorry I missed you out Anne..........could you please message me your email address as I can't seem to find it. I seemed to lose a few things when my email provider 'updated' and revamped! Colin does lead an interesting life. It makes me think I should do more with mine!!

Having said that I didn't receive your fairy Mel so could you please send it for me to see? Also I haven't had an email from Frank for weeks.......has he stopped sending them or is it just ME he's missing out!! :-)

Thank you for your pretty card Gill. I've had a few sparkly ones up to now.

I quite like Chihuahuas Jane as long as they haven't been spoiled and nothing could be noisier than the Shih Tzu next door! I doubt Thomas would be impressed!! Our dishwasher is 8 years old now and I think it is a Bosch too. That was a late delivery, but we've been told our washer/dryer will be delivered any time between 2.00pm and 9.00pm tomorrow so I hope it doesn't take them long to fit it if it arrives at 9.00pm. It's going to be busy on Thursday as there is a mountain of washing to do. OH says he is down to his 'unreliable' pants now.........I didn't ask him to explain!! lol.

Did you get the cake made to Katie's order Mandy with the stars she requested! I must admit It did sound nice!!! :-) Fancy Max chewing the timer knobs.........it's funny what they are attracted to, but not funny when you lose your knobs!! As you say there's no point replacing them yet. I wonder what he will make of the Christmas tree?

I bet Cas did flake out when she got home after lots of running about. I have to admit I hate guns and have to come inside when I hear them shooting the rabbits in the field at the back of us. I always have a vision of a 'stray' bullet finding me!!

I got some little battery red berry lights for the fireplace today and actually found some with dark green wire like I want. :-)

I got a text to say Beading class has been cancelled this Friday, but no reason why so I hope the teacher isn't ill.

Ann you were the first name on the list of emails I sent out. I wonder if I sent it to the wrong address?????

Good you found the berry lights you wanted. I have some of those but my favorite are the ones oh bought me last year or the year before and they are rice lights and you can put them in water but not the battery pack of course. I have them in a glass dome on a stand and they look great on the windowsill.
I'll resend the email.

Quite warm here today, looks like we've had some rain in the night and it's very cloudy.

I love the pictures of all those trees Ann, I like the one with the shoes too.

Little Gilly looked so cute Jane and very content on Larry's knee. Sorry to hear your hip was playing up hope it's feeling a little better today. How is Chris, hope he's feeling better too. What a shame you deleted the photo of Thomas looking at the beef, I bet it was a funny pic.

Phone's ringing, better go and answer it

Morning Gill and all,

Dull here but dry as far as I can tell as I hav'nt been out there yet. We have another leak in the lounge. Its just past where oh mended it a year or so ago. did say he was goping to do it today but we will see.

I think it is colder today than it was yesterday.

Gill how are mum and Glynn today?

I took my wreaths when I went out intending to take them down the shop first and go on to Bideford after that. Completely forgot and remembered just as I drove down Landcross just outside Bideford. When I got to Morrisons I had to put them on the back seat so the shopping could go in the boot. Thought I would drop them off on the way home. Guess what? I forgot till I drove in the garden and I was'nt going up there then so they stayed in the car over night and I shall take them sometime this morning. Now I know I am going barmy.

Frank

Frank Report 7 Dec 2016 11:34

Morning to you all, Evening Kim,

Sorry I didn't get back yesterday. When I lost my post I decided to wrap Ros's presents. What a game I had. My stroke arm decided not to cooperate with me. I fought the battle of the 3rd world war, trying to hold the paper and getting the selo-tape undone and stuck to the paper. There were five presents, but I wrapped three in the same parcel, I was at it for over an hour, and got myself in a right old mess. STRESSED to hell. When Ros got back she wondered what had happened to me.

I went to see the surgeon last night. What a complete waste of time that was. After examining my leg and hip, he sent me for more X rays. Everything was in place and no signs of anything being wrong. He explained that NOT ALL Knee operations are perfect straight away, and some, one in four or six take a lot longer to settle down. I seem to be one of those. !!! The beggar had me awake FOUR times last night. So it looks like I have to grim and bear it.

Ros posted all the cards yesterday, and has been all round the close this morning delivering to those we send too. The other "HAND DELIVER" will need to be done in the car. I will try to go with her, and get in and out of the car to put them in the letter box's. That will help with her back.

Since my old school pal died, I get very little emails to send on to anyone, plus the fact I don't know how to store all the email address's in the computer.

Glad the nativity play went well for the children Mandy. What a little "B" max is pinching the knobs from the cooker. I bet you didn't call him MAX .!!!!

Ros is still wrapping presents this morning. It's less than two weeks before we go to DEVON. So she is busy, busy, busy. It looks like she might have run out of wrapping paper. With the amount she bought, I thought she could have supplied the village. ;-) ;-) ;-) NO SHE HAS JUST FOUND SOME MORE. !!!

Well done to Cas. for her work yesterday. I bet she is growing up to be a good gun dog. Liz, do you eat a lot of pheasant ?? I have only had it a few times.

It looks like we have seen the last of the fog. Yesterday was horrible, that dampness in there air, seemed to go right through you.

I hope all the sicko's are on the mend now, and have not passed on their colds to anyone else.

I am doing HOCK and mushy peas with mash for tonight. We haven't had that for a fair few weeks, so will make a nice change.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Dec 2016 15:02

Frank not the answer you wanted from the surgeon but at least you know you hav'nt done any damage to it with the fall you had. I hope it starts to easy soon so you won't be in so much pain.

Thanks to Jane and Fiona for your cards which arrived today.

I see Ann has had a card from Gill and I am worried mine may have been lost as I hav'nt recieved one yet.

I went down the post van this morning and posted the abroad things and a little parcel for someone special who did me a great favour. I then delivered the wreaths to the shop.

I rang the docs to say oh's pills were missing from last times order and they told me they had this months already for collection so down I go again to get them. Mine were ready too and as the girl came forward with them I noticed a small 50 gram tube of E 45 cream on the top. I am not taking that says I as I have the big dispenser. If I had taken the little tube home they would not have been able to take it back so I am pleased I saved that tube from being thrown away. They used to staple the bags of scripts up but they don't seem to do that now we order them when we pick up. So now I shall have to go up there again later in the week for my E 45 cream. I wash my hands with it to stop them getting dry and cracking open but they still crack and the only thing that heals those is Vasaline.

Fancy Max being able to get the knobs off the cooker!! I was so surprized when I read that. Little monkey..........

magpie Report 7 Dec 2016 15:51

We eat Pheasant a fair bit Frank but only during the shooting season. They usually hang for about two weeks, then we pluck and draw them ready to eat/freeze! Yes Cas is doing really well on the picking up front except she's so small that she has a job to get her mouth round the bigger birds! so she tends to stagger along with difficulty!
Much warmer here today and quite sunny.

MillymollyAmanda Report 7 Dec 2016 15:59

Thanks Jane your card arrived today ,i like the nice little doggies on it :-)

Frank that was good news you hadn't done any damage to your knee when you went down but not so good knowing it might be a while before the pain eases , did you ask if you could have some stronger pain killers ?
Yes i called Max more than a little "b" i can tell you ,he's now had all three little buttons off and one of the little rubber bits under the button , thank goodness its only the timer buttons and not the big knobs that turns the hob on .
I now have three holes where the buttons should be so i think i wil put a little bit of tape over them just in case any water goes in .
The buttons are a tenner each ,so we'll wait a while because i can see him doing it again and at thirty pound if will be a bit pricey to keep replacing them !!!
He's so quick doing it they are off before you know it .

Mel there is a note up in our boots asking people to check the tablets before you leave the shop incase there is any thing that you don't want ,it's a waste if there is and they have to then throw them away.

Sorry to hear you haven't received my card yet Mel, when you sent one to me and one to Sandra I got mine the day after you posted it and Sandra got her's the day after that. I assume you posted them both together so maybe your card will arrive tomorrow. I posted them all together so it can't be far away. If you don't get it in the next few days let me know and I'll post you another one <3
Sorry to hear you hands are still cracking. Fancy forgetting the wreaths, I assume you have delivered them now?

You asked about mum and OH, mum is still in hospital, they are going to do an angiogram and OH is getting better by the day. He took me out yesterday, with Sandra of course, to buy my Christmas presents as he was getting worried about it. He was okay but after a few hours his back was aching so we came home. He got me a lovely leather handbag and purse and some sewing books, so I'm looking forward to reading them on Christmas day. He also bought me some dress patterns in my size, which isn't easy to find. It's our anniversary in January so I've asked him to buy me some dress material, he can't get me that for Christmas as I'd have to open the patterns to see how much material I'd need and he won't let me open them until Christmas day, so that's something else to look forward to in the new year. He also bought me a book on sewing machines for beginners so that will come in handy and not just for me but for Sandra to learn by as well, plus he bought me a few other bits and bobs. Sandra wanted to get me something to as she only had one thing for me so he said they would put both their names on the presents as some of them weren't cheap and she couldn't afford much. We are hoping to visit OH's mum when his back is feeling a bit better so OH and Sandra said they would get me a few surprises too when we go round the shops in Ellesmere Port.

Sandra has stopped sneezing now Anne, so I guess the Beechams worked.

So Max has been a naughty boy then Mandy chewing the knobs on your cooker. I bet the air was blue with your comments to him ;-) Pleased to hear the nativity plays went well, it's so nice to see them isn't it? Did they try to find you in the crowd when they came in, my two used to do that?

What a disappointment from the surgeon Frank. Although it wasn't something you wanted to hear at least you know all is okay. I guess time is a great healer, hope it starts to settle soon. Did he say if there was anything you could do to help your situation? Maybe some different exercises?

Thanks Jane for your card, it arrived this morning. OH opened it as it was addressed to both of us and he didn't know who it was off. It's lovely and Christmassy.
Let's hope Thomas gets on with the Chihuahua and doesn't think it's dinner :-S

Talking of dinner I'd better go and see if the chicken has thawed out properly. I forgot to get it out of the freezer last night so had to do it this morning. If it's not thawed out enough we'll have to have it tomorrow and have something else tonight instead.

Done up some of oh's presents this afternoon and started sorting out the boys next door for their stockings I do them. First I could'nt find the stockings then when I tipped the little presents out of the bag they were in there so no excuses now to get started.

Doing a chilli for oh tonight which means I can have two lovely new laid eggs (todays) and some nice new bread I bought this morning in the shop. Mmmmmmm.

Your presents sound nice Gill just the ticket for you as they say. Bet your getting excited now too looking forward to those dress patterns. Are they summer dresses?
I am sure oh and Sandra will find you some nice bits for your surprizes. Are you right handed??

Annx

Annx Report 7 Dec 2016 18:45

Evening All,

Sounds like you will have some nice Christmas presents lined up Gill and be busy with your sewing machine in the New Year! I bet you are happier now that your OH is healing well.

Mel, OH has always checked his tablets before leaving the pharmacy and has got me into the habit now. As he says, they might make a mistake with the number of tablets or the right dose! I think he actually had them make a mistake once and that's why he started doing it. Those cracks must make your hands really sore. Have you tried slathering the cream on at night and wearing cotton gloves overnight? I have done that with my feet and put loose socks on overnight sometimes. Your brain sounds like mine with forgetting the wreaths! I went out this morning and had to go back inside twice for things I'd forgotten to take with me.

Well at least it wasn't bad news about your knee Frank and you now know you haven't damaged it. Jane's sister's knee took a long time for the swelling to go down and she had pain with it, so it sounds like you are one of the unlucky ones too. Hopefully you are through the worst now and it will start to improve soon. Not another fight with your deadly enemy the cellotape!!!! I told you to get one of those things you put on your wrist and pull a small piece off at a time.

Gawd Mandy, you'll have to squirt some sour lemon juice on the knobs if he starts to get his chops and teeth around those! I suppose it's like babies, everything goes in his mouth! I hope Lacey enjoyed her Nativity Play and that Katie enjoyed her birthday with your scrummy chocolate cake! :-)

I went to Grantham this morning and was up early to get there for when the big retail shop opened at 9.30am before the best parking spots had gone. The traffic was quite bad with lots of lorries and my car is the dirtiest it's been since I had it now. I was lucky and parked next to the front door. All I ended up buying was some bras!! :-S They seem to have cut back all the christmas decorations they used to have in the big garden centre at the back too. I went through Barrowby on the way back and called at the Matalan and TKMaxx and got a thin grey long cardigan and a black and grey cool short sleeve top. Not so easy finding ordinary cool tops now...... they are all long sleeves and hot fabrics!! Phew! I had to take my cardigan off in the shop today, yet some were wearing coats, jumpers, boots and scarves. lol. When OH phoned me later, the men had come just after 2.00pm to bring the new washing machine, so by the time I got home the drive was clear for me and I didn't have to park up the close. I was glad about that as my legs were aching after all the walking about. The machine still sticks out about an inch as the men said the pipe at the back needed a bit of room not to trap, but it looks ok like that. Now I need to read the instructions and get it whirring!!!! :-) :-) :-) :-)

Yes, they were saying yesterday that 'free range' won't quite fit the usual criteria for the Christmas bird this year with them being kept in. They say they can be let out I presume in pens, as long as they aren't in contact with wild birds.
