Yes Mel, it was on the news and on line. Apparently it is a virulent strain, sweeping across Europe. The worry is that it will appear and damage the Turkey trade before Xmas as well as chickens and other domestic birds. In bed now after a busy day!

Morning all,
What a dull old day we have today and there's rain too. Oh has just frightened the three deer out os the orchard by going outside as I have just seen them run across the garden. All three are now standing up by my border.
Nothing planned for today so will just muddle through some ironing and present wrapping I think.

Very wet here today so not doing anything very much. I suppose you could always put some anti butterfly netting over the chickens run Mel. We use it to protect our greens from cabbage whites and birds; It's very effective and does the trick for both problems. Gill I've sent you and Sandra an e.card.

Afternoon all,
Very mild here today ,we had a little rain just after lunch ,just enough to wet the ground .
Thanks Frank for your card and also Ann for yours with the two dogs on ,one just like Max :-D
We looked after Lewis today while son and DIL went into church to see Lacey doing her play again, what a little whirl wind he is ,he didn't touch the christmas tree but he did pick up one of my little father christmas i had on the window sill which he then dropped luckily it didn't break.
Tomorrow we have a load of logs coming so i shall be on the wheel barrow wheeling them round .
Hope all those with coughs and colds are feeling better and your OH's wound is healing up nicely Gill.

Iv'e had a phone call from Frank to say he can't get on here but would I let you all know he is ok.
I was out at the children Christmas Fair in the village so oh took the call so I hope I have it all right. He said he would get Harvey to take a look at the pc at the weekend.
Bought two braclets for 25p each and they have lovely beads on them. They had three so I sould have got the other one too but was called away by the boys to watch them make snowmen out of marsh mallows in two different sizes, body and head, a big choc button for its hat brim and a rollo for his hat. Silver balls for eyes and matchmakers broken in half for his arms and tiny choc buttons with 100's and thousands on for his buttons. All stuck on with a squeezy tube of white icing. They looked good enough to eat!! and George ate his but Sam had his put in a bag to bring home.

Afternoon All Chris and I both feel pretty ropey today and have done nothing much at all.Just post colds and now coughing :-S We had planned to go to Cambridge but there was no way we would have managed that today. Yesterday James and i got the tree, but it is a lot smaller than usual.Still about 5 ft.James said he didn't realise I was going to get a Bonsai one LOL. It will be fine.
I had my new phone arrive too yesterday and it took Chris about 5 hours to set everything up and do whatever was needed .I had so many photos on my old one that they wouldn't all download onto the laptop.I think I have lost about 4 hundred. Most weren't really important but there were quite a lot that have gone that I would have loved to have kept. All this technology is beyond me.I would be really stuck without Chris or James with these things.
I really must catch up on yesterday and todays posts, just haven't felt like using the laptop really.Tomorrow I hope to feel like a new woman :-D

Good evening all
Thank you Jane, Ann & Frank for your lovely cards. I posted all mine yesterday.
Haven't done much today. The Sainsbury delivery was a little later than usual but still in the time slot, the driver was a real chatterbox and that was probably the reason for the later than usual time. It took me quite a while to put all my shopping away. I am glad I have the extra freezer now
Sorry to hear both you and Chris are still under the weather Jane.
We watched the programme on Henry the 8th and his wives yesterday it was mostly about Katherine of Aragon with Anne Boleyn coming in towards the end this was the 1st of 3 programmes. Will be watching" Who Do You Think You Are" at 8o/c
Your Christmas presents will be a great help with your dress making Gill and it will be good being able to make yours and Sandra's summer dresses.
We had stir fry this evening followed by Choux cream buns

Yes I had to laugh Mel when he said that :-D :-D. He has quite a dry sense of humour.
Sorry Gill to hear Mum is still in hospital. I hope she will be home in time for Xmas.
I think Max should be called Buttons Mandy... naughty boy.If he ate the timer button he might start pinging LOL.. Do you check that the buttons come out the other end? I always remember my dear old School teacher friend Ruth 's dog ate her engagement ring. She inspected everything that came out of Bo until she managed to recover the ring :-D :-D
Just had a chat with Frank. He is still trying to get back on the thread. :-D
Is this the last of the children doing the Nativity plays now Mandy? Did your DIL have to make costumes? I always dreaded that .I could manage a stripey tea towel around James's head as a shepherd :-D. But I was very lucky in having a neighbour who wouls make any costumes needed . On the odd occassion I did have to go to the fancy dress shop :-S.... I could have done with you then Gill :-D :-D I had no family around when Hannah and James were at school and needing all these costumes .My Mum and Janice would have been life savers .They just lived too far away.I was always hopeless when it came to needlework :-|
Thanks everyone for the lovely Christmas cards :-D Anne Thomas cat :-D Must get dinner dished now.

Evening All,
Thank you for your card Jane......lovely little doggies! :-) Sorry to hear the lurgy is overstaying it's welcome, but I see you managed to collect your tree. At least a 'bonsai' will be quicker to decorate, especially when it comes to sticking the fairy on the top. OH is fetching out decs down from the loft tomorrow so that's what I'll be doing tomorrow. :-)
The washer has been in action again today and is quieter than the old one which is good. Also much easier to set.......a knob to turn and a button to press and away it goes. With my old one you had to hold a small button in while it beeped it's way to the setting you wanted, press another to select it, another to start it etc and a right button combination of steps if you needed to open the door to add something you forgot! OH said the men found the belt to the old one underneath it so that's why it stopped spinning. They also said it would have cost a lot to put a new belt on.
I nearly got run over at lunch time crossing from the car into the newsagent over a driveway on their land. I was crossing quite a little way behind a parked car when the driver shot backwards to pull round a car parked in front. You can tell how fast he shot backwards as he had to stand on his brakes to miss me!! I leaned against the flower stand outside to get out of his way, but before I could squeeze through the small gap between it and the car, the car shot further back again and it was only inches from me at the side before it drove off. When I got back in our car OH said it was the worst driving he'd ever seen. If I'd been a child the driver would have run over me. I always crawl along when I'm parking or driving away, just to be sure. Then when we went to a garden centre I got behind a large young woman engrossed in her mobile! I tried to get round one side of her and she lurched across in front of me so I stepped to the other side and she lurched back nearly sending me into the piled up christmas baubles!! :-0 She then said sorry, not even looking up from her mobile screen and proceeded to step in my way again. I decided it was easier to turn around and go a different way after that.
It was all Christmas parties and fully booked where we had lunch today and there were no tables free. Because we are regulars they scouted around and found us a table that normally seats 6 and we used that which meant we had plenty of room!!
I've 2 parcels to collect tomorrow from different places. One's at the Royal Mail depot, the other at the Post Office in the village. I don't think arranging to collect from the Post Office was a good idea as there will be queues tomorrow.

Morning all
Nice and warm today, it was like this yesterday so I nipped out and done some more food shopping for Christmas. Just a few more bits to get nearer the day, dips, cream etc... I checked all the goodies I'd bought before I went to the shops and found that I'd bought far to much chocolate including six boxes of Matchmakers. I should of checked the bags a while back me thinks :-D :-D We should have enough chocolate to last us to and including Easter :-D
Thanks for the e-card Liz, I'll show it to Sandra when she wakes up, she's still in bed at the moment.
Thanks Frank for your cards, hope you managed to get back on here soon <3
Sorry to hear you and Chris still aren't very well Jane, hope you feel better soon <3 I had to laugh at the Bonsai comment, at least it won't take you to long to decorate. That was nice of Chris to set up your new phone, what a shame you lost some of your photo's though.
Hope your girls will be okay with the bird flu epidemic Mel, it must be a bit of a worry for you. Sorry to hear you had a bad night last night.
What a terrible experience you had Ann, did the driver notice you? Maybe you should of took his registration and reported him, he can't be driving like that he's likely to hurt someone. Isn't it typical the youngsters of today glued to their mobile phones, I find it quite rude, she could of let you past. I bet you were glad to get home after all that? At least you managed to get a seat for your lunch. So you've got your new washer now, it sounds a bit like mine, all I have to do it turn a knob and press a button, it's so much easier isn't it. At least you know what the problem with your old one was now ;-)
I recorded Henry VIII Anne, I like those sort of programmes, I'm trying to catch up with my mother and other strangers at the moment, I have one more to watch before it's back on. I think it's the last one this week. I really should find time to watch Poldark it's still there on my planner waiting for me LOL. I also recorded WDYTYA.
Mum has got a bladder infection now, she's getting really fed up as it's been two weeks in hospital on Sunday, hope she is fit enough to come home in time for Christmas. OH got his follow up appointment through the post yesterday and has to see the surgeon again on the 29th December. His back is still a bit sore but healing well so that's good.
Going to get a cuppa now, at least I'm not as busy as yesterday, I didn't stop all day.
