Morning All,
It rained here in the night but it's dry now. Just had some nice poached eggs on toast and am off to see Christmas trees at 2 more local churches now! It might only be just 1 though as the 11th century church I tried to get to last year had nowhere to park and will probably be the same this year.
The washer is still being kept busy with another load this morning, then there's towels and bedding to do.
There were 2 more mice caught last night and 1 was in the loft so had ignored the traps in the garage.
We got all the decs and tree out of the loft this morning so I shall start on putting the decs up later this afternoon. :-) OH is getting me some wood twigs from the field at the back later as I have something in mind to make.
We enjoyed Kirsty's home made Christmas but I didn't like the winning tree.
Did anyone watch the Findmypast webinar on Wednesday? It was about censuses and quite interesting.
Thank you for your card Anne........I loved the 'Holly and Ivy' on it and it made OH smile too.
Better get going now as OH needs to move his car to where mine is so his footie pal who is calling for him can park where he parks.

Afternoon all
Just a quickly as I have to move the washing machine, OH thinks it might be the pump so it has to go outside and tipped up to be fixed.
Your card arrived today for Sandra Jane, she'd only just woken up when I got it off the postman so she was pleased to read it before she got up ;-)
Do you want me to send you another card Mel, or do you want to give it a few more days incase it's late like Sandra's one off Jane was?
Sorry to hear you still have mice Ann, hope they all get caught soon. Enjoy your time out today. I look forward to hearing all about it later <3
Must go now OH is waiting for me to move the machine as he can't do it himself, Sandra said she'd help me if I needed it. See you all later.

Afternoon All
Black as your hat here and raining. It is horrible. I lit the fire just now just to cheer the room up even though it is so mild.
I'm pleased Sandra's card arrived Gill..I suppose this time of year there will be some delays even when cards are posted at the same time. I hope you manage to sort the washing machine. Not a good time of year not to have one .Will OH manage to fix it himself?
Our front door handle seems not to be right. So we have the Locksmith coming out on Monday morning.
Ann,that near miss the other day must have scared the pants off you !!!!!!!..Goodness you were so lucky not to have been hit.I seem to have seen a few near misses lately .I wounder if peoples heads are too full of other things rather than concentrating on the driving . I hope you enjoy seeing more lovely Xmas trees this afternoon and that you manage to get to the one you missed last year.
I am going to have a bit of a play with Thomas as he is bored and getting into mischief :-S

Pleased to hear you got your card Mel, I copied the address you put on Sandra's fairy, but with doing lots of cards that day I didn't realise I had put your post code wrong, sorry about that, glad you've got it now :-) I hope everyone else got their cards okay.
So Thomas is up to mischief Jane, I bet he loved it when you played games with him. I used to love playing games with my cats, they are so comical when they get going aren't they? It sounds like your front door handle is like my back door handle, ours seems loose but I can't see how it can be tightened, is that what's happening to yours. OH couldn't fix the washing machine in the end. I managed to get it outside for him and turned it upside down so he didn't have to bend to much, he took the pump off and cleaned it but when we plugged it back in the problem was still there, so it looks like we'll have to nip out tomorrow to buy a new one. My mum said I can use hers if I'm stuck. I don't have much washing at the moment so there's no rush for now. Hopefully I'll be able to have the new one delivered fairly soon. I might take a look at a new cooker too as our is on it's way out and to be honest I don't really like it. It was only meant to be a short term one as I'd like a range type cooker with two ovens, so maybe I'll finally have one soon.
I'm so tired at the moment I haven't stopped since I got up. I've just finished sorting out all my clothes and ended up with a big back of rubbish and two big bags of decent stuff that has gone to the charity shop. I now have a few things I want to alter so will sit here quietly and start unpicking them. I've lost so much weight this year with working in the garden that most of my tops are now to big for me, it shouldn't take me to long to alter them down to fit me. Good job I had a good nights sleep last night otherwise I'd be asleep by now ;-) I've not slept well for weeks, probably with the worry of OH and mum, now mum's home and OH is on the mend my headaches have stopped and it seems I am sleeping better too. OH said he had a good nights sleep last night, the first one since his op. He was told yesterday that he has to have new dressing's everyday for three weeks now instead of the two weeks he was first told, the nurse said it looked a bit red but she couldn't see any signs of an infection. I hope it's not the start of another infection as that would be three in two months.
Going to watch My mother and other strangers now, I have one more to watch on my planner before the last one on TV tomorrow......Still haven't watched Poldark yet. Hopefully I'll find some time soon. Sandra is looking forward to the final of X-Factor tonight, she would like Matt to win, she doesn't like Saraa Altto. She said if Matt doesn't win then she doesn't mind if 5 after midnight win. We'll be watching Strictly first, good job Sandra checked what time it's on at it's on 10 minutes earlier than usual, so I'd better make sure dinner is out of the way on time. I think it's the final of Strictly next week, Sandra would like Danny to win that :-) :-) Let's hope she gets all her wishes <3

It is absolutely chucking it down here now.Poor Thomas (eventually went out),has just comein like a drowned rat.I think he had been waiting outside the back door for ages as he would have seen James through the window in the kitchen as he is busy getting all his ingredients ready for his and Jess's meal .But James couldn't have seen Thomas in the dark lol.He is still got mischief in him :-S,keeps trying to play with all the electric cables :-S :-S It does sound like our door is like yours Gill. But it one of those with a 5 locking bits, so we don't really have a clue as to what bit has gone wrong. I think Mel said her Kitchen door handle had gone phutt too the other week.
My BIL Larry, has to have those injections in his eye(like Shirl) ..He got a dreadful shock though when Bupa refused to pay for the treatment. The cost of each injection would be well over £2,000 !!!!!!!! and there is no way they could afford that. BUT LUCKILY his Consultant has agreed to put him on her NHS list ..PHEW! what a relief.
The other PHEW! was that Janice and Larry's dog Riley has a reprieve. He went off to the vet and Janice had said her goodbyes :-(,,but then he came home :-D..The vet is trying some new meds.He may still not have long though. So what a week they have had !!!
I must start dinner for Chris and me as I want to get ours done and out the way before James takes over the kitchen with his Asian Chicken dish.I am just not looking forward to all the spice smells....(a) because it will make my throat all claggy and (b) my bedroom tonight will smell like a Chinese Takeaway :-S

That's good you both had a good sleep Gill. It sounds like your wardrobe must be quite roomy now after the clearout. Mine could do with one too as it's getting so packed there's no room for more hangers.
I had forgotten the men who brought the washer had emptied the cupboard at the side. OH had put stuff back but couldn't get it all in and of course it wasn't in any kind of order.........he'd put the washing powder at the back of the cupboard.........man logic!! lol. :-) So that was an extra job this afternoon, but at least I was able to wipe it all out and throw some stuff out, I don't need whitener for net curtains any more or salt for the dishwasher!
The main tree is assembled and the lights tested ready for me to decorate tomorrow and my little icicle tree is in place so we look a little bit christmassy now. I would have started the big tree tonight but my back has been hurting. I think it's from helping OH with getting the boxes from the loft this morning.
I managed to park near the very old church as there were less people there this year. Some of the trees were quite nice and there was one tree decorated by the beading group that I tried once a couple of years ago. They had also beaded lots of baubles and icicles that were for sale. The trees were better at the other church and there was one there that had been decorated by one of OH's schools. :-)
It sounds like Christmas is a bit 'up in the air' over the puppy Jane. I suppose with Jess knowing you had Chester and like dogs she thought it would be ok to bring the pup. I would be worried about puppy 'accidents' on the carpets and little teeth chewing at everything as they do. Also in the melee of people at Christmas a tiny mite like that could easily get trodden on or find something to swallow that it shouldn't. That's apart from the risk of Thomas of course, or that he may disappear in a huff!! It isn't as if she would just be staying overnight is it? OH has managed to jam the bit that clicks in on our door to the lounge. At least it isn't an outer door though.
We thought we were in for a sleepless night last night as nextdoor are away and their burglar alarm went off at about 10.00pm. OH was in his jimjams so I went out on the front to see where the noise was coming from. I thought it was from the new bungalow at first but that was just their Christmas lights flashing behind the fence. The neighbour across the road had come out and said he would email the neighbour to let them know. I went back in and OH and I took a torch into our back garden and shone it over the fence to see if any windows at the back of next door were broken. All looked ok and then the noise stopped after a while. They've got a different alarm to their last one and we expected it to start again, but it didn't, (thank goodness!) :-S

Goodness Jane, I don't think I'd be putting up with cooking if it had if it had that sort of effect on me!! It sounds awful, particularly smelling out your bedroom! I'm afraid I wouldn't be that tolerant and OH certainly wouldn't!!!! It's heaving it down here! and has been most of the day!! Cas is sitting with Teddy in her mouth hoping for a game!!

Frank your Birthday card will be on its way.I have written on the back of the envelope 'for the 22nd Dec :-)..So you will know it is not a Xmas card.
Ann ,it is good that you and Gordon and the neighbours reacted to the alarm going off next door. So many people these days just seem to ignore alarms. So important especially at this time of year with burlgars looking for easy pickings like Xmas presents under trees etc. If I hear someones alarm here I always go and see as do 2 of my friends. But no-one else bothers :-S..It is difficult to work out which house it is sometimes so it takes a wander down the road to find out. When I was at Aldi yesterday a car alarm went off in the car park and it sounded like an Air Raid Siren (It was so loud !!!!! ) it made everyone stop in their tracks.
I wish we were looking Christmasy now.But we aren't.The tree is going up tomorrow ,but it is outside getting totally soaked with thus heavy rain at the moment :-S.It is in the netting still so I am hoping that most of the wet will be on the outer branches. I need to get into the Xmas mood JIngle Bells Jingle Bells la la la la la :-D :-D

Evening all,
It's been a dry day here until about five when it started to rain ,now it's raining quite heavily.
Thanks Liz for the ecard if was lovely
Thanks Ann for your lovely card ,i don't think you could have picked a better one :-D thats just like Max ,not sure he would keep that christmas hat on i think it would be shredded in no timd LOL I'm now wondering what your going to make with these twigs ?
I have put a few more decorations up but i have to watch where i put things as Max can reach every thing , i have the round fire guard standing in front of the christmas tree so he carn't get to it . I think i will bluetac my cards onto the lounge door that will keep them up high out of the way .
Frank don't you have batter on your fish !! you don't want a dicky tummy when you have company tomorrow .
Gill i hope OH's wound is ok and not getting infection in it again ,at least going yo the nurse regularly she will be keeping an eye on it . My goodness you are having a wardrobe clear out , you'll have plenty of room now for all the new clothes you'll be making .
Oh your poor BIL Jane just the thought of injections in theeye makes my eyes water , that would have been an awful lot of money he would have had to pay ,he must be relieved he can get them on the NHS . Poor Riley i hope they can have one last christmas with him <3

Liz ,unfortunately all cooking smells end up in my bedroom :-S :-S.I hate it but something we can't do anything about ...I will make sure I have a window or two open up there tonight :-)... No ecard Liz. I know there has often be trouble when you send me one (they just don't seem to get through sometimes. (Assuming you have sent me one :-D :-D :-D )
Mandy I have bought these velcro strip things that you can stick on walls ,doors.(without peeling off paintwork when taken down) for some of my cards. The make is 'Command Strips' Christmas Card Hang Ups pack. Brilliant. There are other velcros sticky pads you just put on the back of the cards and they grip to the strips.Much better than lots of Bluetac .
Strictly and Dinner now :-D

Yes one more Christmas with Riley would be lovely for Janice and Larry. <3
Mandy have the girls seen the garland yet? or is it tomorrow they come?
Mum never had to pay for her injections in the eye. That was the only place I was'nt aloud to go into with mum, where they actually did it. Mum said they put this clip thing over your eye to hold it open aand you can see the needle coming towards you. It sis make a bit of an improvement on mums left eye but she said enough was enough after a few times as it is a long way to the hospital and she was'nt well anyway. It was just a bit too much. Mind you she was 85 when they atarted the treatment.

It's been raining here for a few hours but has stopped now, for how long though who knows ???
Sorry to hear about your BIL Jane at least he'll be able to have it done on the NHS, not something I'd like to have done though :-0 Sandra laughed at your Jingle Bells, I read all the posts to her and she's always asking after everyone. Our back door has about 5 locks on it too, so it does sound like we have the same problem. Can you let me know what the locksmith says please as OH might be able to fix it, hope he can as everything seems to be braking lately and it's starting to cost us a fortune. I have to buy a new washing machine and cooker tomorrow so having to have a locksmith around too, is going to be an expensive December and with Christmas too. I find the cooking smells get into our bedroom too, no other room apart from the kitchen of course. I wouldn't mind but our bedroom is quite a distance from the kitchen so I'm not sure how the smell gets in there, it's not pleasant to sleep in sometimes. Sandra and I like spicy foods so I've only got myself to blame, I don't cook to much spicy food though. Hope it's not to bad for you tonight.
It's good that you looked out when the alarm went off Ann, we're like that around here. Our neighbour always asks us to ring his daughter if the alarm goes off when he's away, so far it never has, but at least he has peace of mind knowing we are keeping an eye on the place for him. It sounds like you've seen some more lovely Christmas trees today, I bet you were glad to get a parking space close to the church this year? I had to laugh when you said man logic, that's the type of thing my OH would do, well maybe not the washing power but he's often moved things around in the most illogical way, it make you think WHY???
Sorry to hear you had another bad night Frank. I've done the same as Jane and written birthday card and Christmas card on the backs of the envelopes so you know which is which.
It sounds like you're having fun Mandy, Max proofing your place for Christmas, our cats used to try and climb up the tree or they'd get right in the corner of the room underneath the tree and play with the lower baubles, even if we told them to get out, they'd just give us one of those looks as if to say No I'm Having Fun and You Can't Reach Me Ha Ha, and they were right we couldn't reach them.....animals are so funny aren't they, even if it doesn't seem that way when they are undoing all the hard work you've done to make the place all Christmassy ;-) ;-) Yes I have lots of room now and I'm looking forward to making some new clothes for Sandra and I after Christmas. I think it'll be easier to make Sandra's dresses as I'll be able to see what I'm doing properly if it needs adjusting to fit her, trying to make things for myself might not be quite so easy, but I'll have a go. I don't expect the pattern to be exactly our shapes so will probably need a little tweaking here and there.
OH is at the hospital at the moment having his dressing done, he can't have it done at the doctors on a weekend so he'll be fed up when he gets in as it normally takes ages at the hospital, he hasn't eaten yet either so he'll be starving by the time he gets in. Hopefully he's not getting another infection as he's getting fed up now.....well, I think it's bit of boredom as well with not being in work and not being able to do much at home either.
OH's just got in he said it's still red but no infection so that's good. Going to make him something to eat now.
