Hello all. I haven't been on the laptop until now.I seem to have had a bit of a faffing around day.I have just finished wrapping James's presents so they are all ready to go when he goes to Jess on the 23rd. I did her presents last week.Hannahs are done so it is just Chris's left to do now.But I need him well out of the way.One present I have no idea how to wrap .It is a long handled Canterbury Hoe and its taller than me !!!!
Gill, your poor Mum must have had a bit of a panic attack yesterday when she tried to go out.It must have made her feel very scared :-(.. I hope she is ok now .Maybe she was trying to run before she could walk after just coming out of hospital. It is good though that she lives so close to you. I imagine your Nephews little girl was disappointed not seeing her Daddy in the audience at her school play.I think all children scan the people to find Mum and Dad lol But I am sure she will have understood why he couldn't get there .I bet he felt guilty. Sometimes though things just happen and can't be helped.
I would get anything posted soon just incase things get held up with this Post Office Strike.I know it is only a few so maybe it will just affect certain areas. As for this Rail Strike. It must be a nightmare for thousands and thousands of people. I though I saw something about another strike, but can't think what it was.
I'm sitting in the dark here with just the tree lights, lights on the mantlepiece and window sill and a few candles on the hearth. It looks lovely :-D
Thomas is on the settee :-S :-S (Don't tell Chris LOL ).Thomas shouldn't be up there until bed time really.I bought him a new bed today as his was so filthy and needs a really good wash. That can be a spare now. It wasn't a Pine Needle in his foot.He was doing this holding his foot up well before we had the tree. I haven't noticed it too much today. But will still keep an eye on it.
Liz that was lucky to get a late booking for your meal.Is it for Xmas Day? So you have the family for the 27th too the same as us :-D
Mel your Wreaths sound a huge success :-D :-D .Was it last year there were a couple unsold? or the year before?
I think it is tomorrow my BIL Larry has his first injection in his eye.I must give him a ring tonight.I'm sure he will have a bit of the colly wobbles :-S..But it is something he just have to have done if he is going to keep his sight in that eye.
Fitz and family have been to London today for his Cousin's husbands funeral. What a miserable day it must have been. After the service in Islington it was a burial in Highgate Cemetery .I love that Cemetery .We had a guided tour around part of it with Hannah last year(or the year before). There are so many famous people buried there.

Yes it's for Xmas day Jane, and the first time we've ever done this, and I am looking forward to it as its such a pretty venue, and will be much more jolly than being on our own. We had a trip to the tip today, so the garage is looking nice and other empty, for the time being!! We seem to get so much junk so it's nice to have a clear out. Highgate Cemetery is very I interesting, my younger uncle used to live in Gospel Oak which isn't a million miles from Highgate, and he used to take me all over the place when I stayed in his flat, including the Cemetery. I do miss him they were happy days.

Been in Bideford today shopping. Went up the HighSt first and up Mill Street to try and get another pom pom maker that is'nt flower shaped but no nobody had one. Most places had all the ones I have.
Why is it we always buy present for MEN that are hard to wrap up? I did laugh at the hoe Jane.......I'd just put a big bow on the handle and put it in the summerhouse and send him out there for it. I remember when oh bought me a wheelbarrow once and left it in the arch at the top of the garden with tinsel draped over it. I kept looking up the garden and thinking "Why has he left his wheelbarrow in the archway?" It took me ages to realize it was'nt his as his had bright yellow legs and this one did'nt.Sadly that barrow is no more but we bought mum one the same and I am now using that. Since then he has bought me two other barrows but none are as good as the little one. I have two plastic ones but find it very hard to tip them. I use the last one he bought me when I do the border but the one before that has a flat tyre.
I have never had Christmas dinner out either. We used to go to a lot of Christmas dinners when we were ringing but not any more.
Gill it may be too warm in your kitchen for the cutting and maybe not light emnough either. If you have the top look at the side branches that stick out and just pull them downwards, this is what forms the heel on the end that I was taking about so just cut the end of the point on the heel off leaving most of it there as this is where it will root from. You want bits about two the three inches long.
Well I better turn the oven on for my pie and his bargees and bread.

Christmas is coming and the Goose is getting fat .Put a penny in the old mans hat? I can't remember more than that.Someone will know :-D :-D

Evening All,
If you haven't got a penny then a ha'penny will do If you haven't got a ha'penny then God bless you!
That's all I can remember!
I've just got back from a lecture at the hospital about Cannabis! A post mortem toxicologist did the talk and it was quite interesting. I never knew that it was the flowers that have most of the drug in and that since years ago they have plants that are 10 times more potent than they used to be. The synthetic man made drug is up to 1000 times more potent!!! Apparently there are 400 substances in cannabis and I never knew that the one that causes the high is different to the one that might be useful medically after much more research.
Had a dentist check up and all was ok. Like he said once before, he mentioned 2 or 3 times how clean they were as he poked about and in the end asked if I'd just been to the hygeinist. 'No and not for over 5 years' said I. Anyway he doesn't think I need 6 month checkups now and said an annual one should be enough unless I get any problems. :-D
The rest of the bungalow is all trimmed up now and looks good, so that is a big job all done. Just the rest of the place to clean now and the washing to catch up on. There's a house not far from here that has 3 full size christmas trees all decorated!! You can see 2 in the through lounge and one in the window of the front porch all lit up. I wouldn't want to do that many!
Our bit of private road is a right muddy mess now with the builders vehicles and the new people driving over it from their muddy drive. Then the farmer brought his muddy tractor down the top end of the close to cut the hedge at the side of his field yesterday and brought MORE mud!
I record/watch the Yorkshire Vet too Liz. A friend of mine had her photo taken with Julian at the NEC show a couple of months ago.

Poem - Christmas is coming rhyme
Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat Please to put a penny in the old man's hat; If you haven't got a penny, a ha'penny will do, If you haven't got a ha'penny then God bless you! Just found this on the Internet Jane, so you now know how it ends ;-) ;-)
Hope all goes well for your BIL tomorrow and I hope Thomas is okay soon, are you going to get his paw seen by the vet or just wait and hope it sorts itself out. The way he was jumping all over your tree in the video he didn't look to bothered about his paw, or had he just forgot about it in all the fun he was having. LOL.
You do make me laugh Frank... yes what has a water sample got to do with your eyes LOL :-D :-D So you've had your ears lowered.......sorry hair cut ;-) You'll be looking very dapper for Christmas now :-)
Thanks Mel for your advice, I shall sort it out tomorrow as it got to dark to do it today.
So you've got the clearing out bug too Liz, it's such a nice feeling when everywhere is sorted isn't it and so much space too.
Oh no Ann, all that mud, I bet you'll be glad when the warmer weather is back, at least you won't have so much wet mud everywhere.
I thought I'd change my picture to the snowmen Sandra and her dad made the last time we had snow as I doubt will get any snow this year. She made a family of them and dressed them up, then insisted on me taking some photo's.....bless her.

Good morning all
I thought I'd post early today as I had a busy day yesterday
Loved the photo of Sandra's snowmen Gill she must have had so much fun making them with her Dad lets hope the New Year brings her some snow.
Thank you Mandy for your card, I expect your grandchildren are getting excited now, they are at a lovely age to really enjoy it all.
I'm just going to wrap my few remaining presents up and hopefully just a couple I've ordered from Amazon will arrive soon. We always have Christmas dinner at home it was only for the first 4 years after we were marrried before we moved to Bracknell that we went to my Mum & Dads, so that will be 52 years I have cooked it but sadly for a lot fewer now.
How is Thomas's paw now Jane, perhaps he was bitten by one of his catches and playing with your tree aggravated it.
Mel good to hear that Erica was pleased with her wreath that you had made for her I have one on the Front door but not a natural one hand made which must be much nicer
I went along to Sainsbury yesterday and bought the girls top shop vouchers, their Mum didn't want them to have money as their main present and she suggested these but I have got them a lot of smaller things as well. Mark has sent them HMV vouchers
The Boston Puppies are due today if I don't hear anything by the weekend I will email the owner just to check all is well.
Did anyone else watch the Royal Variety show it seemed more light hearted this year it seems as if Charles and Camilla enjoyed it , I don't think David Walliams would have been quite as cheeky if it had been the Queen. We will be watching 6 Wives this evening with Lucy Worsley and recording In Plain Sight

Morning Anne and all,
Thanks for the cards Ann and Liz. Lovely day today at the moment the suns shining so a promise of a fine day. Better than yesterdays mizzle though which turned into rain in the early evening when I was coming home from Bideford.
Anne bet your getting all excited now at the thought of the pups being born today. I know I would be. Hope everything goes well for mum and pups and we shall be looking for a photo of them when you go to see them.
You've all been busy getting your decs up and there's me sitting here with just my bobb le strings up with the cards on them. I think maybe I shall put my fir garland up today and plug my red lights in to make it feel more Christmassy. Oh won't bring the tree in yet as its growoing in a pot and we've had it in for about 4 years now.First of all.
A friend just called in. Hav'nt seen her for a while and she is so pleased that her daughter is having twins!!!!!!!!!!!!! First babies.

Good morning to you all, evening Kim,
Nice sunny morning here, let's hope it stays.
Ros is calling Down to Sids Val. this morning for an hour, then when we go to the hospital, we have to call at Martines to exchange presents.
Our nice neighbours are having Christmas drinks Saturday morning 11,00am. With a bit of luck I will still be able to get to the pub for the match! 12,30 K O.
I forgot to do my sample first thing this morning so they will have to make do with a late one Everybody seems to be on top of the Christmas choirs. We must ring Jan. to let her know what we have purchased.
Off to get my shower, see you later

Morning all
Sunny here today and a bit warmer too.
How lovely Mel.....twins I bet everyone is excited. I haven't done much this year either in the way of decorating it all Christmassy, to be honest I've had so much on my plate recently with mum and OH that my heart wasn't really in it. It's still looks nice though, just not as much as I usually do. I've done the cuttings this morning, so fingers crossed they work. I took a look at all the other cuttings I've got and quite a few of them have taken, a couple didn't so they have now been thrown away, but I'm pleased with the others. Let's hope the conifer cuttings take too.
So the pups are due today Anne. I'd love to see a photo too if you can get one. Do you want a girl or boy or don't you mind? Yes, Sandra did have fun with her dad making the snowmen and I put her cap on one of them, only for a short time to take the photo or it would of got ruined. Unfortunately you can't see it very well on here. I noticed the date I took it and it was 6th January 2010, I think we've had a bit of snow since then but not enough for her to make another snowman, so no wonder she wants snow so much, it's been quite a while hasn't it? I noticed the Royal Variety Show was on but by the time I noticed it was just finishing, pity really as I like that programme. We were watching programmes off the planner, which I why I missed it.
Pleased to see you haven't lost your post this morning Frank. Drinks with the neighbour, that's something to look forward to and the match afterwards as well.
I got a bit mucky sorting out the cuttings so I'm running a bath. My new washing machine and dryer arrive tomorrow so I guess I'll be busy with all the washing again. They are arriving between 7am and 11am so I'll be getting up early.
Good news with OH, his back is starting to heal nicely now so he doesn't have to have the dressing done tomorrow, He only needs to see the nurse three times a week at our doctors, which is much better for him as he said it's sore with it being touched everyday. The nurse is pleased with it so hopefully he'll be fit enough to go back to work after Christmas. He is getting so bored now, I think he'll be glad to get back to normal again.
Better go and check my bath, see you all later <3

How did things go with Larry Jane, good I hope? A nice new hair cut is just the ticket. Now it's done for Christmas. You were lucky to get an appointment this close to Christmas weren't you? :-)
Half your luck Mel, I've not had any lunch today as I've been emptying the cupboard under the sink ready for tomorrow when they plumb the new washing machine in. I didn't realise how much stuff was under there so it's taken me ages and I never got my bath in the end, someone else had it instead.
I'm just going to move the dryer out of the kitchen now so OH can clean the tiles for me as I can't reach them all, then everything will be spick and span in there. I found lots of plastic containers with lids 10 in total, they're only small about a shoe box size but great for all the small things that were in the cupboard, they have all been put in the back room overnight as I didn't fancy putting it all back in the cupboard to take out again in the morning.
I wish I'd said they could take the dryer as well as the washing machine now, but we thought our nephew might of liked it, unfortunately he didn't turn up here in the end so now we're just going to take it down the tip. It still works and OH's mates work down there so they'll probably sell it, that's what they normally do with white goods that are still working and just look a bit shabby.
Right, off to move the dryer now, then run another bath. OH shouldn't be long finishing off the tiles then I can mob the floor and get us all something to eat.

Afternoon All,
All this talk of haircuts reminds me I must do OH's. I don't want to have just hoovered when he mentions getting it done!
Yes success and no lost post then Frank! That was nice of your neighbour to invite you for drinks. It sounds like you are busy running errands and going to the hospital today. How is the knee now.....any improvement?
Yes I like Sandra's snowmen too Gill. I thought the big one's face reminded me of Mr Blobby! lol. :-) I bet she hated it when they melted. I have put less Christmas decs up this year too. I seem to be quite run down I think with all the ailments I've had this year and you have had a lot of work to do and worry with your mum and hubby. We'll still enjoy what we have done though. :-D
Mel, it must be nice when people appreciate your wreaths and as Anne says, the real ones are the nicest. We have no way of attaching one to our front door with it being plastic which is a shame.
How exciting waiting to hear about the puppies Anne!! I bet you will want to choose one as soon as you see them. I look forward to seeing a photo when you manage to get one too. :-D
I hope it wasn't too much of an ordeal for Larry having the injection. It must make you nervous.

I wonder if the Puppies have been born yet :-D :-D Have you a name in mind for yours yet Anne,or are you waiting to see it first?
Twins for your friends daughter !. I think I would freak out if I found I was having twins lol. My friend Anne had twin girls and her husband was a Marine and away an awful lot.She did struggle at times especially when the girls were little babies and didn't sleep.Luckily her Mum lived just down the road and was often on hand to help Anne out.
Well I have had my colour done and it looks much nicer now. No more grey showing :-) But when I got home I realised I had left my Kindle there ,so James who is off work today very kindly took me in so I could just hop out of the car and nip in to get it ,rather than me having to park in the car park and pay another £1 just for a few minutes.
Gill ,you must be worn out with all the clearing out and moving things again. What a pity that you couldn't give the old dryer to your Nephew.Fancy him forgetting which road you lived in !!. How is your Mum today? It sounds like OH's back is almost healed now which will be much more comfortable for him.It has healed quickly hasn't it.
I haven't heard yet from Janice as to how Larry got on this morning.I expect everything is all blurry for him at the moment.
Chris has shut himself in the study to wrap Xmas Presents. I wonder whose he is wrapping ;-) ;-)
Frank you will be lucky to get away for the footie K O if the drinks do is at 11 ,and then KO off at 12.30..You might have to sneak away quietly LOL
We have a totally clear sky here now after a lovely sunny afternoon. It is what I call a cold looking sky. I must check if the heating has come on .I have a feeling that it is playing up again as the other night I woke at 12.30 sweating buckets. The heating was still on!!!!. and it should have gone off at 10.30. The Hot water had gone off but not the heating :-S

Silly me saying you had a hair CUT Jane when you clearly said it was a hair COLOUR :-S :-S Yes I'm busy doing yet more sorting and cleaning, it never stops. To be fair with doing the garden so much this year the bungalow has been neglected some what, so I'm just catching up with a few things so I can bring the new year in all clean and tidy. It's a nice feeling when everything is like that. I still haven't finished sorting out my own things yet but there's not much to do so shouldn't take to long to do.
We can't get out much with OH having to have his dressing done every day so it filled my days with being stuck indoors so much. At least now we can go out a bit more, providing OH feels up to it of course. He has healed quickly, I'm quite surprised myself after the other nurse saying it could take three weeks having his dressing done every day and now it's every other day and no weekends, she's even said that he can have a bath next week which will please him as he likes a soak rather than a shower. We are taking Sandra out on Friday to our local library they have a Christmas afternoon and a Christmas quiz which she is looking forward to.
We've had a sunny day today too which probably means a cold night. Hope your boiler isn't going to break Jane that's the last thing you want this time of year. Maybe you could get it serviced that way if there is a problem it can be sorted out before it gets worse.
Sandra laughed when I told her what you'd said about the bigger snowman looking like Mr Blobby Ann, she looked at the photo again and agreed. Thanks for the Christmas card it arrived today Sandra thinks it's great with the snowman on it. I was looking on You Tube yesterday and found all sorts of little things you could make for Christmas ornaments. I even found out that you can frost a glass using toothpaste, you just dab it on with a sponge and leave it to dry, it looked good with a tea light in it.
I've had to run another bath as the last one went cold, the kitchen needed a good clean and it took longer than I thought it would. You should of seen the dirt underneath the dryer. When I pulled it out all the dirt came with it.....Yuk It's all clean now.
Sandra said she fancies egg, chips and beans for dinner.... nice and easy. I quite fancy that myself now she's mentioned it ;-)
Going to get my bath first though, before this one goes cold. :-D :-D

I have spent two and a half hours having my pre assessment, what a set too .the only thing she didn't,t do was measure my inside leg !!. Having a job to see as there were more BLOODY drops, and eye measurements. Everything is blurred,
Have the puppies been born yet??
