What a load of tripe on TV tonight. I am just going to watch Casualty and then go to bed. I will have one ear open though in bed as James's temperature shoots up to almost make him delirious ,and I know from past experience what he is like when that happens. :-S :-S. I have a few T Towels ready to take upstairs ready to soak and slap on his forehead . Great New Years Eve LOL

See you all next year....
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my friends here .May 2017 be a good one for everyone xxx

<3 <3 <3 HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017 <3 <3 <3

Just watching the 10 minutes of fireworks in London around Big Ben that I recorded earlier as mum rang us to wish us happy new year so we didn't see it properly, then we're off to bed.

See you all in the morning
Night Night <3

Morning all,

Dull and raining proper rain here on the first day of 2017 so not such a happy new year here then.

We had loads of fireworks going off around us last night but all I could see was a small glow in the sky to the west towards Shebbear. Lots of bangs going off.

I see Gill is getting the spring feeling by her avatar in Sandra's favorite colour.

''HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY FRIENDS"

Miserable morning her rain and more rain, We are planning to go to Salcombe (sp) for a ride out and a coffee. Roast tonight when we get back.

We sat and watched "33" last night, about the miners in Chile. What a great film. They then wanted to see the NEW YEAR IN. So I went to bed to watch Match of the day, and was asleep well before Midnight.

Gill, while I think about it and of course MY OTHER LADIES There is a new programme coming on SKY Channel 75. It's part of the "Jewellery Maker" and called "SIMPLY SEWING."It will take you through all kinds of projects. Ros. can't wait for it to start. You can register now, to get all the information.

I haven't seen the "DENT" Jane. Did you forget me.

Dos spoke to Harvey earlier, Lewis has just got home from last nights festivities. He is now charging around to get ready for work in M.K.

Hope you all have a lovely day, whatever you are doing. <3 <3 <3

Happy New Year to one and all

What a filthy day ! Rain and wind .It is horrible. I went out for yet more tissues and ice lollies for James and a paper for Chris.I won't be going out again thats for sure.
Fitz rang to see if we would like ot go down for a drink this evening but we have declined.James is still really bad,Chris says he is feeling achey and not 'quite right' and I have started an irritating cough .So all our bugs will be confined to our house.

I think it is a day to sit in front of the fire and watch a bit of telly. Chris wants to watch Medici this afternoon on Netflix .Thomas is miserable as he can't go out.So he is curled up in his bed asleep again.

Frank,I can't imagine a trip to Salcombe would be much fun in this weather. Are you still planning on going? I have sent the pic of the DENT again to you.

The big puzzle is needing attention. It is on the dining table .I can see it staying there forever the rate we are getting it done. I say we. It was Hannah who has done most of it and none of us are really that bothered. But it seems a pity to give up on it.
Hannah and Gareth are meeting Janices's eldest son Michel later this afternoon .That is Williams Daddy.I think he is taking William and his other little son ice skating this morning. So Hannah should finally get to meet William :-D :-D..I have asked her to make sure to take some pics.I have never seen James (Michels's other boy). He has only recently been allowed to have him as the mum have been very difficult these last 3 yrs. But finally she seems to have got over his 'issues' and it now means that William and James although not living together can be proper Brothers at last :-D :-D

FRank,I hope Lewis has a fairly quiet day at work(after being out celebrating New Year). It was very quiet out and about this morning.
Now what to have for lunch???? Pork Pie,sausage Rolls,HAM!, cheese, cold meats and so it goes on !!!!!!!

Just had a message through from Janice to say that her Daughter Rachel will also be seeing Hannah and Gareth this afternoon. That will so nice for all the cousins to be together for the first time in many many years. The only one missing will be Matthew ,but Hannah sees him quite often in London.

<3 <3 HAPPY NEW 2017 <3 <3 to my 'thread buddies' :-D :-D :-D.

The fireworks around here went on for longer than usual last night, but no 'bomb' type ones thank goodness! I hope Max carried on not being bothered by them Mandy. It was a good idea to have the radio playing so they didn't sound so loud. It sounds like he is growing out of some of his puppy ways with the nipping. The free pattern the teacher gave us was for the spider Mandy. The bracelet was one we started in class.

Mel the silver 'pinch' beads around the black stones are new beads and yes, the beads in circles on the snowflake bracelet do have 2 holes, one each end, and are called Diamonduos.

We went out for brekkie this morning to a pub we go to sometimes that is next to a Travel Inn. That's the reason we knew they would be open! It's a little expensive but you get a continental breakfast plus a cooked one where you choose all the items and how many you want and then it is cooked. There's juice, cereal, fresh fruit salad and yoghurts to help yourself to. They had some of the Lemon Curd yoghurts which are my favourites. :-D Then we went to the furniture end of the retail park to look around but they were a right pain following us around and trying to 'HELP'. I was getting fed up by the time we got to the 4th store (there are 5) and when the salesman asked if 'madam had any particular room in mind' madam told him 'possibly every room but none in particular at the moment'. lol. :-)

It's been pouring with rain here all morning and looks really dreary. I did manage to see an actual camera like the one I want today, but they had none in stock so I will order one on line instead and get some cashback.

You asked about the Zebra chocolate Gill........yes it said it was striped on the packaging. There were even bars that said they were Chocolate Ration bars and no silver foil wrapping just brown paper instead with a coloured paper sleeve. Your hubby does sound romantic keep proposing to you each year.

It sounds like James has the bug I had too Jane. I had to go to bed and was sweating yet shaking as well. I hope he shakes it off more quickly and soon feels a bit better, it's not been much a break for him has it.

I finished my lariat necklace last night and wore it this morning. I think it will be one of my favourites.

I see we need to get rid of our old £1 coins when the new ones come out in October this year. We won't have many round coins left soon.

Frank, I have stayed on holiday near Salcombe in the past and I really liked Salcombe. Mind you that was when it was sunny, but it should still be interesting watching the estuary. I remember the roads to it being very narrow with high soil banked up each side with not many passing places. At least it should be fairly quiet I would think. Lewis is working on the Bank Holiday then.........more money in his pocket though. :-)

Oh Jane I just saw your post and hope neither Chris nor you are coming down with the lurgy!

Afternoon all

OH is going to take me to the out of hours doctors at the hospital. I've woken up and can't see properly, everything is blurred, it's been coming on for a couple of days now, starting with a migraine I had for 24 hours then a really bad pain in my neck and shoulders, so I think I should get it checked out. I've just taken another pain killer as my head is starting to hurt again.

I'll catch up with the posts later if I can, I've tried to read them but it's difficult to focus. I hope my spelling is okay on this post as I'm relaying on my touch typing as the screen is to blurry to see it.

Jane Report 1 Jan 2017 15:44

Gill, I am sure all will be fine, and the blurred vision is just part of the migraine .But I think you are doing the best thing and getting yourself checked out.. Thank goodness for these walk in centres ! and not having to wait until after weekend to see a Dr.Also not you having to wait for hours and hours in an A&E dept. Hope to hear from you later <3

Nice Brekkie this morning Ann :-D.. Unusual though in a furniture shop to be pestered like that. Normally I find there are no staff to be found in these places !!. I always think it just to see a member of staff who you can just go up to ask for advice or help. They need to been seen that is all :-) Not intrusive .

Well I am lost with this Medici series. I think Chris is just finally getting the gist of it all.
So I have given up :-D...Just boiled some sprouts (thrilling :-D) but I am just going to do some Festive Bacon Lardons and mushrooms to mix with the 'cut up' sprouts in the frying pan.I think it may well be Gammon and chips or maybe saute potatoes with those sprouts rather than the Lamb Shanks .I don't think Chris is feeling up to a heavy meal. The Shanks still have a couple of days to go before the use by date.

Thomas is looking really cheesed off lol I keep trying to get him out as the rain has eased off a lot now ,but he gets as far as the back door ,sits on the mat just inside and then comes back in again. He is eying up the lead to my laptop now :-S :-S.
James is just running a bath. What an exciting start to the New Year !!!

Home at last. We went to Salcombe and went to a Prawn place close to the beach. It was packed to the doors. We managed to find a table and got sat down. We had a basket of Garlic prawns and a Bucket of fresh cold prawns, Garlic dips, bread and a pot of chips each. On the way there we passed a sing to TUCKENHAY, where we use to go with Sid and Val and Tony and Val, back in the early 80s.

On the way back Conrad said he would like to see where it was, so we turned off the main road and went down lanes one car wide. Also in the village was the restaurant that Keith Floyed owned, where we meet him and had a drink with him. Bought back a few memories.

I hope James, Gill and any others who are under the weather are feeling a bit better.

It has rained the whole day through, so we are home, locked the door and are settling in for the evening. No idea what's on T.V.. So it might be an early night for me again. Just heard David Attenborough is on later, so that will suit me !!!

It looks like we will be coming home on Wednesday. Ros is going out with Jan shopping tomorrow. Conrad has promised Ella that PAPPY will have time with her alone before he goes back on Friday. I think he will do that tomorrow also. So I will have a nice quiet day by myself. If it's fine I will have a walk and call in somewhere for a pint or two and a bit of lunch. Then home for a few zzzz.

OMG ! something always happens with my Sisters lot.
Larry picked Rachel and her kids up to take them to meet up with Hannah just after half 3.They stopped at a BP petrol station .Rachel went in to pay and the chap behind the desk collapsed .Rachel and other customers had to climb over the counter to get to him.Thought he had had a heart attack . Ambulance called and the man put in the recovery position...It seems rather than a heart attack ,he had gone into a Diabetic Coma....People were queuing up to pay for fuel. I think they probably just had to leave without paying.
Rachel had to give signs to Larry to stay in the car and keep the children in there while all this was going on.Poor Larry must have wondered what on earth was happening.!!!!

Annx

Annx Report 1 Jan 2017 18:08

Oh my goodness Jane! That must have been a shock for your niece to see the man collapse. At least he was where there were people though and not on his own. Hopefully he will be ok. We were going to have lamb shanks today as well, but decided it was too much and to have a salad instead. I had defrosted some of the sliced turkey to go with mine and OH fancied tuna with his. I'd defrosted the Black Forest Gateaux so most of that has gone now too. :-)

I'm about ready to take some of our decs down now but OH always wants them up longer than me! :-)

It sounds like Salcombe was quite busy Frank, but I can't say the thought of cold prawns does much for me! I'd be sticking to F&C myself. ;-) That was good you got to have a trip down memory lane. Are you going home early now then......I thought you were going to be there for 3 weeks?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Jan 2017 18:19

O gosh Jane what a thing to happen. Quite scarey. I hope the chap was ok. Do you know how long they had to stay with him? You would have thought there would be more than one person on the tills even though it is new year. Just think how many people could take petrol or diesl and drive away.

Gill I hope it is just a migraine and you will be feeling better now. Good that you can go to the drop in doctor.
