I agree with you Jane, I star gaze every night with OH and we find it fascinating too. OH bought me a telescope years ago but then we moved here so it had to be packed up and it's never been out of it's box since then, so I'm looking forward to opening it again. Unfortunately it's gone really cloudy here tonight so I checked the weather forecast and it's going to be sunny on Thursday, so hopefully it'll be a clear night so I can check out the planets. I was hoping to see Jupiter tonight but the clouds are in the way. At least it means a warmer night so it's not all bad.
Thanks Mel for letting me know it's the 5th. I remember now you saying the date last year.
It looks like we're going to be busy on Thursday, what with taking the decorations down and star gazing, plus we need a new fridge and freezer so we'll have to order them that day too as OH has his dressing done the day before and the day after so we'll have a bit of spare time on Thursday........hopefully. I've promised Sandra we'll take her to Neston on Friday, which will probably take most of the day. She wants to get us an anniversary present and card and have a look around the shops.
I've just had a lovely bath and will be off to bed myself shortly, just watching the end of the Titanic programme I recorded the other day first. It's quite interesting, they reckon the ship sank due to a fire not the iceberg, although the iceberg wouldn't of helped as it hit right where the fire was, the side of the ship had been compromised by the fire which made it weaker at that spot. They found all this out due to some photo's that had been found and some written records too. Well, I'd better get back to it as it's getting late.
See you all in the morning Night Night <3

Morning all,
Just the same here Jane, very frosty and white all around.
Clear sky and the sun is shining so I suppose it won't last long but if I get out and about I may get a few pics on my camera.
Gill you should be able to get your kitchen things in a sale and save yourselves some money on a fridge and freezer.

Yes your pics came through very well Mel. You should have a lot of fun with your new camera. Today has been very frosty again, although not as hard as the other day. OH is having a snooze after another soup lunch! Tonight we're finishing off the ham in a risotto, then that's all the Xmas food done and dusted!!

Did you get both lots Liz?
The sun's gone in now and its all dull and grey here now. Frank should be on his way now and I hope its a good drive home for Ros. I think she is marvelous to be able to do that drive. I know I could'nt do it now.
I ran the battery out on my camera and put it on charge on the pc and it only took a little while to recharge. I am very pleased with it so far. Oh did the downloading bit as it was a bit of a job to find where the pics were but I said try Photos and there they were.
He tried to explain how I was to send them but I did'nt understand and just tried the way I used to do it and it worked ok.
I did try a couple of very short videos but I was still too shaky even with the monopod. I had been all round the garden though so I shall have to try again and consentrate more. Shame the suns gone in as its a bit dull now to try.

Afternoon All,
Yes got your pics Mel! I like the frosty ones, pity we haven't had as much frost or I would have been out with my camera to get some shots. :-) You'll be snapping away at all sorts now! OH and I went in the city to buy my camera this morning. I took some of my old cameras with me as they advertise you can trade in your old camera. Well, they didn't trade in any of my old cameras, even though one is current enough to still be on sale! OH said it seems like they trade any camera in except the one you bring! :-S Then the salesman dropped the camera I was buying on the floor! Hopefully it is ok as it was still packed in the box.
Glad your eye trouble cleared up ok Gill. You have had quite a stressful time as you say. I mostly make jewellery just for myself although I sold a few things at an exhibition once and have made some things as gifts. I am happy to make Sandra a snowflake bracelet and even have the beads to do it all pink if she wanted!! :-) You would have to give me the exact measurement of around her wrist where she would wear it. I wouldn't want any payment, but, if she liked, she could send me a birthday card for my big (70....shhhh!) birthday coming up in July and perhaps add a nice bit of glitter to it!! :-)
Next job is to order a new and bigger picture card for this camera.

Yes Mel both lots came through, no trouble at all. I think you've cracked it!!! Not quite so sunny here now but not so cold either! Cas and I went for a nice walk up the road, along a track, along the hedge and home - she should be knackered now for the rest of the day!! OH has been making a list of things to put on eBay in the near future. Our barn is full of 'junk' and it'll be nice to be a bit tidier! Yes the revelations about the Titanic were very interesting Gill. What a dreadful saga that was, doesn't bear thinking about!

Afternoon all
No frost here but very cloudy so OH didn't bother getting my telescope out, we're going to wait until later in the week when, hopefully, there won't be to many clouds around.
Yes, Liz it was terrible what happened to the Titanic and to think if it hadn't of been for the fire they would of all been rescued and there wouldn't of been any deaths as the ship wouldn't of sunk so quickly. There was help on the way which would of reached them on time before it sunk.
Both lots of pictures came through Mel, I love the one of the bird eating the apple, did you zoom in or would he let you get close to him? Yes, I'm hoping to find the fridge and freezer in a sale, like we did with the washing machine, dryer, and cooker. I won't know myself with all these new appliances will I?
I mentioned to Sandra about the snowflake bracelet in pink Ann and she'd be thrilled with it, thank you. Sandra always makes thank you cards as Mel will tell you, so you'll have one of those as well as your birthday card. She wears bracelets and they are all 8 inches long. Her wrist size is 6 inches but she likes them a bit bigger as she's not keen on them being to tight. I won't tell anyone how old you'll be ;-) ;-) Mum's the word LOL.
You were up before the birds this morning Jane, at least you got all your ironing done. Hope you managed to get back to sleep. How is James today, hope he's starting to feel a little better now. Let's hope he hasn't gone back to work to early. OH went into work today to hand in his sick note, it's only for another week and they didn't waste any time in putting him back on the rota, he'll be back in work the day after the sick note ends. He still has appointments for his dressing to be done but they have said he can nip out of work to have them done.
Hope Frank and Ros have a safe journey home with all the frost about. Like I said we don't have any frost here so maybe there won't be any by the time they get home. Hope one of your neighbours has found Ros's bracelet on the drive if that's where she dropped it Frank.
I've been re-potting all the plants my mum bought me that were in the basket today, it took me almost 3 hours to sort them out, but they look lovely and I've now given them a good watering in.
Going to start a shepherds pie now. I'm trying to empty my freezer and have quite a bit of mince that needs using up. I'll make a large one so it'll last us a couple of days.

Aftrenoon at last . it has been like Widow Twankys here today.I have been catching up an all the washing that has been piling up for about a week !!!!!!!.. It is all washed now but as it has to be the tunble drier there are baskets of wet washing waiting their turn.
Mel,well done :-D..Both sets of pics came through .Lovely photos. What was the bird?
Gill.James did go in to work and hasn't come home yet.I reckon he will be dead on his feet when he falls through the door no doubt starving. He will say there was no time for lunch.
Ann I hope your camera is ok. Did the man not check it after he dropped it? Fancy not being able to trade in any of yours. That seems a bit off to me. What lovely idea of yours to make Sandra a Pink Snowflake bracelet :-D :-D She will love that :-D.I am sure you will have a very special Birthday Card from her in July ;-)
I wonder if Frank and Ros are home now..I would hope so.Unpacking and sorting everything no doubt . We have just seen the Gritter go up and down our road TWICE !!! I wonder if it is because of the mud on the roads from all the lorries being wet and sludgy. You should see the state of Fitz's car from coming up and down the lane with all the lorry traffic :-S :-S.. I popped down today to see the tree and decs before he starts to dismantle everything. It is going to take a very very long time for him to do that. Last year he said it took 2 days of 7 hours each day !!!.. Now he is slower after his back op so it may well take a lot longer this year !
I have been struggling to think of presents for James's Birthday in a weeks time. I have a Jumper and a book and that it is it so far. But Hannah came up with a great idea. A Voucher for air BnB.. I said if we transfer money to her bank account would she please organise it .She uses air BnB a lot so knows her way around the site. So presents sorted :-D :-D
Must check dinner .

Evening all ,
A lot colder here today ,there's been quite a cold wind ,but with the good blow out i did wonder if i should hang my washing out but decided not to in the end .
Lovely photo's Mel ,yes what was the bird i wondered that too , the frosty ones are lovely .
Ann those photos of yours are lovely too ,oh the reflections in the water it's hard to see where the bank of the river is and the one with the bridge ,it looked like a round tunnel in the water . Fancy that chap dropping your new camera ,i hope its ok I bet Sandra will be thrilled with the pink snowflake bracelet and i must remember to mark your BIG birthday down on my calender . ;-) :-D
James has done well to last the day at work after being so poorly ,he'll be tired out when he gets home . I think the contractors are supposed to keep the roads clear of all the mud Jane ,if anyone skidded on it they could be in trouble , when the mud freezes you get those big ruts on the road that can pull you over to the side and off the road . I had to look to see what air BnB was , it looks a good present for him as he likes to travel .
Any news on Ruby yet Anne ? i bet your counting the weeks i know i did while waiting to get Max home , it did seem a long time .
Like you Mel i thought the Halcyon was a bit boring ,not sure if i will watch it again it didn't grip me like i thought it would after seeing the trailers for it .

Will 'Widow Twanky' be dashing away with the smoothing iron at the crack of dawn again tomorrow!! lol :-D That was an early start to the day Jane. I did some washing yesterday, mostly 'smalls' except they are not! :-S That's good you have everything sorted for James' birthday and a brilliant idea of Hannah's.....I wouldn't know where to start with sorting that.
All the building sites and and farmers trimming the roadside hedges here are making an awful muddy mess of the roads too. On one of the bigger developments we have seen a roadsweeper cleaning the mess up like Mandy says but the small builders seem to just leave it. I can well believe the state Fitz's car is in as he is in the thick of it isn't he! He must be careful with his back.......or rig up some of that abseiling harness from his beams perhaps........to get him up into the tree canopy, just like David Attenborough!!! lol. :-D :-D
OH and I like looking at stars too, but OH has to look away sometimes as he says it sends him a bit funny thinking about all that vast space and endlessness!! We enjoyed watching the space station each night when it used to be visible for a few minutes and Brian Cox's progs he did about the universe.
I didn't recognise Mel's bird either. I found the Halcyon prog quite hard to get into, but will give it another try. I decided to watch the Sherlock series this time but we gave up on that as we didn't like it.
No BIG note in your diary Mandy!!! I'm not looking forward to this one......it sounds much too old and not ME at all. lol :-)

I agree Mandy about The Halcyon. Did anyone else watch it? It was supposed to be the next Downton!!!! I don't think so........
The bird is a Fieldfare they come over here for the winter. We get flocks of them some years and then just a few other years.
I did take a video of it eating an apple but I was shaking so much its hard to see on the eye.
Ann what camera did you get in the end please. Have you got a monopod too ? Oh has ordered me a swivel that goes on the top this afternoon and it should be here by Thursday.
Lovely pics again Ann and I love the number 40 one and the bridge.

We used to get a really good ghost story for Christmas but I never saw one last year.
Hope Frankie boy and ros got home safely. Bet they are whacked.

Afternoon all, Thanks for your good wishes for our safe journey. We left about 11.30 am. Followed Conrad to Exeter, then we were on our way. The M 5 was very quiet, and once passed Bristol Ros was comfortable again. It is a bit of a nightmare with all the different roads going all over the place, We stopped at the 1st service station for Ros to have a wee and get herself a sarnie. We then plowed on until we turned off to go to Oxford. We were going to stop for a meal, but she was happy to continue the journey. It took us about three and a half hours. We stopped at Towcester and had a nice meal. It save us cooking last night.
I slept until 9.00 am and Ros a little longer. We had tea then breakfast. I got showered and shaved and was completley shattered afterwards. It takes it's toll on me standing in the shower, then at the sink to get shaved.
I had a job getting onto the internet with this Macbook. I had to get a code off the back of the server for me to log in. But all up and running now. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Poor Ros, she started unpacking last night, until I made her sit down and leave it until today. She has done two loads of washing and changed the bed sheets and pillow cases. Boy was it nice to get into your own bed last night. :-D :-D :-D
"DAVID BAILEY" then Mel, I haven't looked at my emails yet, but will do after posting.
Pleased the Lad at the petrol Station is well, also James is well enough for work. It must have taken it out of him. Gill, I see your OH will soon be ready for work again. Best wishes to all who are out of salts !!!
It's always the way Ann, these shops offer PX until you go in with something, then they don't WANT IT !!! At least in the Motor Trade, we took any car in PX, even though it was not worth much to us, but everything has a value.
Looking on FB yesterday I found a Nephews Wife. She quickly replied to say who she was, I will contact her later to see if she is still married, as she never mention my Nephew.
Very heavy frost yesterday morning the windscreen was covered in frost. Today looks milder even though I haven't been out.
We haven't searched the drive and indoors yet regarding the bracelet. I will make that my next job. !!! Wish me luck.
