Yes, Jane the programme is called Bondi Rescue and it's about the lifeguards. It's on Sky and I think from quite a few years ago, but very interesting to watch. It can be quite funny too as they film them during there working day and how they work together having jokes and winding each other up. Today's programme showed a young lifeguard, he's only 16 and they got a heavy weight boxer to surf in the wrong place so that the young lifeguard would have to ask him to move. The boxer was supposed to be an awkward person. He kept it going, but give the young lifeguard his dues he kept asking him to move to another part of the water. You should of seen the young lads face when it was revealed that it was a wind up. The boxer gave him a signed photo of himself to reveal who he was. The other life guards laughed as they knew all about it.

Yes, I'm very pleased with the info Mel has found Mandy, but we need to wait for the marriage certificate to arrive to confirm things. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news.

Evening all,

Rain here all day today. I managed to get the bins out ready for the morning.

Ros did a Beef, onion and potato ,suet roll for dinner tonight. It was great, we haven't had one for a few months. went down a treat with Curly Kale, parsnips and carrots. I'm getting a taste for this curly kale, even though I haven't eaten it before.

I have to be at the hospital at Noon on Wednesday. I understand there will be eight of us having the operation. The surgeon will decide on what order we will be done. So it could be a long afternoon. We have been told to take a lunch box with us. I have my fingers crossed that everything will go to plan, and my sight with be better.

Halcyon Hotel on at present. I haven't seen any, so not bothered about it. Tomorrow is Martin Clunes in Australia's islands again, so looking forward to that.

I am so tired today, I have done everything I can to stay awake. So I hope I have another good night.

I wonder how Chris will get on with that gadget Jane. ?? A fried of Carolyn's has one and finds it very good. She is able to check on most things regarding Heart beat, pulse, Blood pressure etc. I don't think it would suit me as I don't get out enough.

Conrad bought back from Spain a lovely Coconut ice bar covered in dark Chocolate. We bought it home with us as Jan said it wouldn't get eaten. I finished it today. Dos spoke with him tonight and said to look out for some more in the shops, as I liked it. It appears it's only made for CHRISTMAS. S I am likely to be out of luck !!!

Will be off to bed around 10.00 pm. with the radio. See you all tomorrow, sleep tight.

Evening All,

I'm never offended by another opinion Frank, but I would have to agree with the others, I couldn't hate the descendants who never played any part in what their ancestors did. Not all would have agreed with it and how does it help to condemn the youngsters, some of whom feel so bad about what happened as Jane has said. I wouldn't like people to assume I shared my parents' and grandparents' opinions and actions in life!! Mandy's right, you will have lots of reading to catch up on once your eyes are done.

I can't decide about the film Jane! There wasn't as much dancing as I hoped and it was a love story and the lead man was rather dishy! Not sure it lives up to all the hype!! Do you have to link the fitbit with your phone? I remember a lady at beading showed us her pulse rate flashing away on one last year, but she's moved to Ireland now!

I got our break in Cornwall booked today and was surprised there weren't as many weeks available as usual at this time. We are going in April this year so we will hopefully see the Camelias in flower and maybe some of the bulbs. We've gone back to Saturday for travelling this time as it was awful going on a Friday last year with far worse traffic than on Saturdays.

Morning all,

Another dull and gloomy day here and its shopping day so I don'tmind so much. Its just that you can get on so much better when there's a ittle sunshine.

Gill it took me all day to look up Joseffa/Josepha so I can't look at anything today. Not even sure Ican look up American marriages. As to the link on the side you are talking about I don't have that. The only thing I have at the side is the written description of the family from the census like the first page you get and then look at the actual census return.

Morning Mel and all, Evening Kim.

Can't say much about the weather. Sunny one moment, then black clouds. Not sure what the forecast is, but it seems cold out.

Ros has decided to clean the kitchen windows, they do look a bit steamy (if that's the right word) all the cooking and steamy windows.

I had two lovely eggs on toast for breakfast this morning, with my third cot. Dos had her usual Grapefruit ( where does that name come from ??) it's nothing like a GRAPE. ;-) ;-)

Anything exciting happening in your day today ?? My day will consist of trying to read the weekend paper (difficult) I read bit now and again. until my eyes go blurred .

I think I will do a Sirloin steak and salad tonight. With a few onions, mushrooms and chips. I will have to do pepper sauce for Madam.

Gillx Report 17 Jan 2017 14:34

Afternoon all

The fine rain is back here but it's quite warm with it, so that's a bonus I suppose. It's doing all my pot plants good.

Bless you Mel, I didn't realise it had taken you all day. Let's hope the father's name on the marriage cert matches now. Don't worry about anything else, you've done so much already which I'm really grateful for.

Your meal tonight sounds nice Frank. I bet you can't wait for your operation tomorrow then you'll be able to read anything you like.

Sandra and I have been busy today giving this place the once over. I've done lots of sewing lately and my living room was starting to look more like a sewing room and don't get me started on all the cotton all over the floor. The material I was making Sandra's new cushion cover with frayed so much it was everywhere, so all the hoovering and tidying up has been done now and it's looks much better. The only down side is I've decided to use the same material to back the fluffy cushion cover I bought Sandra so she has a pink side to it. Sandra is thrilled with the idea but I'm going to have to hoover again once it's done as no doubt there'll be cotton everywhere again. Never mind it's worth it to see the look on Sandra's face.

She gave me a list of things she'd like me to do today so I'm plodding through it. She'd like me to look up the books that followed Bob the street cat, there are another four books and she'd like to buy them. Then she'd like me to put the fireworks from new year on my laptop so she can record it on her new camcorder. We tried doing that the other day but her reflection showed on the screen, so I suggested that we try again later when it's dark. We'll turn all the lights off so hopefully she won't be able to see herself recording it. Hope it works for her. Until then we're going to watch a bit of TV and relax. There's a bit of spag bol left over from yesterday so I'm going to heat it up with some chips for Sandra's dinner. I might have a couple of baked potatoes with mine.

It looks like we might have to buy a new car, ours has given up the ghost. Poor OH has to walk to work now which means leaving here around 7am each morning and with the rain it's not ideal.

Better go and check the washing machine, I'm on my third load today, then Sandra and I will watch a few films before dinner, while I make a start on her cushion cover.

Just had a call from the RAC to say our cover has expired. I wonder why they never informed us. We always pay by Tesco vouchers. So that has been done. Now waiting for confirmation.

Feeling very depressed this afternoon, why I don't know, but I don't like feeling like this. Plus my Stroke arm isn't working too well. A lot of twitching and shaking.

I am going to have a rest on the bed, and hope I feel a bit better later.

You posted while I was typing Gill. FOUR MINUTES APART.

What's up with the car and how old is it. ??

You certainly have been busy with all this sewing. I know when Ros gets started it's the same. She does have a "TIDY BAG" for sewing. It's a little bag that is part filled with sand. It sits on the table or armchair with the opening hanging down, so you can put your cottons and bits of material in. Very easy to make, and saves a lot of mess.
Everything is ready for dinner tonight. Dos bought back some beautiful mushrooms from Tesco. So white, they looked like they had just been picked.
;-) ;-) ;-) The skin almost feel off without much peeling. !!

Afternoon All,

I don't think we a due any sun for a while round here, certainly not up to Sunday. I quite like it like this as I have a lot of indoor jobs to be getting on with and I don't get sweltering so quickly when it's cooler. The heat in summer soon makes me feel overwhelmed. We have been to The Elms to eat and then called at the nearby factory shop where OH found a nice warm grey and maroon check type shirt for £12 to wear for footie matches.

The neighbour opposite and our next door neighbour continue to block their drives, one with cones and chains the other with his car and wheelie bins. The other neighbour opposite has a motorhome and 2 cars parked on his smaller driveway. This morning I spotted a big white van that had been to the builder at the end of the close with something reverse past the neighbours then up our drive close behind my car to turn around and drive forward onto the main close. :-S Once all 3 properties are built and occupied I expect all the extra tradesmen calling and some of their visitors will do exactly the same. :-S It's really annoying as the foundations for the drives are designed to take the weight of a car not a big van or lorry, not that I want them reversing up to my car anyway.

What do you think is wrong with your car Gill? Most things can usually be mended. I know what you mean about all the mess sewing!! :-S I seem to get cotton bits everywhere, but put a litter bin next to me now so I can drop the bits I snip off straight in it! :-) Sandra's a little organiser isn't she. lol. I could do with her here to keep me on track and from putting things off!

I hope your arm feels a bit better now Frank. It won't be long before you get your new eyes! What with new knee, new eyes there won't be any of the old you left!! :-D

Back to the grindstone after a COT now. Just found a bill I thought I'd paid!! :-0

Frank

Frank Report 17 Jan 2017 16:43

Ann, It sounds like you need to put something across your driveway, or leave your car at the top so there is no room for an thing to reverse. I can see you are going to have trouble in the future if you don't put a STOP to it.

Have just been to get the bins in. It is very cold out there, even though I am sitting here bare chested in a pair of joggers. Heating is certainly working well. I bleed the kitchen radiator yesterday and the bathroom. Will get round to doing the rest this week.

My Cannon printer doesn't seem to be compatible with this Apple Mac. I will get Jonathan to have a look when he has a few minutes spare.

Would you believe "JEWELLERY PROGRAMME" now has a new show on at 4.00 pm each afternoon, showing you something new to make each day, and BIG OFFERS (Ros's words) on Jewellery. Ha Ha. So bang goes MY afternoon viewing of NAT GEO.

Who knows I might be on here tomorrow afternoon/evening without my glass's and a patch over my left eye " HO HO JIM LAD" Pieces of eight. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Jane Report 17 Jan 2017 17:17

Afternoon Everyone
We have lovely sky at the moment.Lots of pink cloud. It is blooming chilly though ,so i reckon a cold night ahead.

Frank, maybe you are subconciously getting a bit stressed about tomorrow and this is why you are feeling down and things a bit twitchy. You need something relaxing tonight to help you get a good nights sleep and so you will be ok tomorrow. It is a pity you don't have a bath that you could have a lovely soak and relax in.

Oh Gill,I am sorry to hear your car has given up the ghost.I know you have had a bit of trouble lately with it.Is it an old car?.I can't remember if you have said what it is. Sometimes the expense of fixing things in an old car is just a waste as other things may well start to go wrong.Fitz has spent a fortune on his car which has done over 200,000 miles. With the amount he has forked out these last couple of years,he could have got himself a newer one with far less mileage . How far does OH have to walk to work? Is there not a bus he could catch?
You have had your work cut out today LOL with the orders from Sandra :-D.One thing I don't have to worry about here is bits of cotton and material scraps on the floor.I dod remember all the mess Mum had when she did a lot of sewing though. There was always bits of thread stuck to our clothing lol

Ann,it sounds as though you need to put your bins at the end of your drive too to stop these big vans reversing to turn around .Is it difficult for reversing all the way back your road? You certainly don't want your driveway damaged.

I have 2 different meats cooking in the oven ,and I am having such trouble trying to work out the timings for them. One is for 45 mins and then another 15 mins with honey drizzled on.The other has to have the bag opened it is cooking in for the last 20 mins of the 50 mins. I just can't get my head around it today.Must have lost my maths head :-S.Usually I write it all down on a bit of paper and leave it by the oven ,but I forgot today which is why I am all muddled now. Silly me :-S

I have managed to watch Silent Witness and The Halcyon today in between hoovering and other stuff.I am really enjoying The Halcyon.I am sure Chris would enjoy it.He only watched the first episode.

FRank if you aren't back again tonight I WISH YOU WELL for tomorrow <3 <3..It will be a success and you will see a big change in your sight within juat a day or 2 :-D

O lots of posts to read today.

Sorry you are feeling shakey and not yourself Frank but as Jane said it is probably nerves in antispation for tomorrow. I hope you don't have to wait around too long as you said they will decide which people they are going to do first. Hope you're one of the first. We shall all be thinking of you and waiting for you to post to let us know what its like with a new eye. We shall have to start calling you BIONIC FRANK. I know I have said this before but oh had it done and had a new lens put in his eye so he has a bionic eye.

Di called in this morning with something I asked her to get for me for the thing I am making so it made me late to go shopping. As it happened I did'nt have a huge shop to do so was only home about a half hour later then usual as I did'nt have to look for any things in particular.

I bought some nice stem ginger biscuits and some shortbreads which I usually get for Christmas but did'nt this year and I really fancied one the other day. They were on offer too both packs.

Oh asked me to get him two pairs of reading glasses for when he is on the pc and I completely forgot. Smack smack smacked hands. :-0 :-0 :-0

Now I have some more bits I can carry on with what I am making as I could'nt do anymore till I knew what was going to go on it.

Evening all,

We've had a really cold day but the sun shine has been lovely ,walking round Norwich we were glad to get into the shops to warm up.
DIL bought the children lots of new clothes in the sales and i bought a few bits ,one bargain was two rolls of christmas paper for 20p !!

Ann that's annoying having vans turning in your drive and that's the ones you've seen how many have done it that you haven't seen .

Gill is the car past repairing ? i know you've had repairs done but i suppose it does get to the stage where you have to decide do you spend more on the car or decide enough is enough .
Sandra has been keeping you busy today then with her list of things to be done :-D

Hope all goes well tomorrow Frank and they don't keep you waiting to long ,lets hope your the first one of the eight to be done .

Jane i'm just like you with timings if i don't write it down i get in such a muddle , i put my timer on the cooker on or i did when i had the buttons before Max chewed them off :-0 :-D i bought a new timer to use but i don't always hear the blessed thing as it's not very loud .

Annx Report 17 Jan 2017 19:54

That's just what OH said Mandy.........what happens when we are out! It's good you got some bargains and the Christmas paper was almost a giveaway! Frank I am thinking of putting my car down the drive but I shall have to reverse it in to do that as the drive slopes down at the bottom and it is difficult to get out uphill with the heavy doors. :-) Some van and lorry drivers don't like reversing up the rest of the close past us as the road is only 1 car width and there is a twist in the road and a low wall my neighbour's side and a hedge opposite. The very big vehicles have to reverse down to be able to use their winches to unload and then they are facing the right way to drive out so they are no problem....except for smashing the branches on our fir tree.

The police helicopter was circling for about an hour earlier and OH said it's beam was into our garden at one point!! I suppose it was probably to do with the M1......someone may have run off after an incident!

Going to watch the last Orkney recording now..........good luck for tomorrow Frank. I think it is a very quick thing to have done which is good. Mwah, Mwah <3 <3!!

Gillx Report 18 Jan 2017 09:06

Morning all

Fine rain again here today, when will it ever stop, the garden is starting to get waterlogged again :-(

Hope all goes well with your operation today Frank, I'll be thinking of you. Think of all the reading you'll be able to do when you get home :-) hope it's not to long await.

The car is older than old LOL my mum gave it to me about 5 years ago and it was old then. We've paid out quite a lot recently on different repairs and OH said it's costing more than the car is worth now to have anymore repairs done. This time it's something to do with the key or starter or something like that. Apparently it's going to cost a lot to fix it as the key has to be programmed once the new part goes in, so it's time to call it a day and buy a new car. We'd intended on doing that this year anyway, but was hoping it would last another couple of months. One of his work colleagues gave him a lift into work today, she lives around the corner and was in work herself today but only till 2pm so he'll have to walk home as he doesn't finish until 8pm. Not sure how many lifts he'll get it depends on who's in work and who offers I suppose. He works just over a mile away so not to far to walk. It's just the next village from ours.

The bits of cotton on the floor Frank were from the material I was using, it frays a lot. I have a sewing box for all my sewing things so nothing is laying around, apart from pins and the like that I'm using for each project. Sandra wants me to help her make an apron for her gran today. I finished the second cushion cover last night and Sandra is made up with it. She can now have the pink side showing or the white fluffy side, so now she has the best of both worlds and of course she'll have the pink one as a spare for when the fluffy one is in the wash.

Fancy the RAC not letting you know in advance that it was about to run out. At least it's sorted now. We have our AA brakedown cover on continual so we're always covered. We've had our money's worth over the last year with all the break downs we've had LOL so money well spent me thinks ;-) ;-)
Before I forget, you might have to download a new driver for your printer to make it compatible with your Apple Mac. I had a similar problem with my printer when I got a new laptop. Mind you in only worked on one of my laptops the next laptop was to advanced and there were no drivers available for my old printer that were compatible with my new laptop. It might be worth a try though rather than buying a new printer, which is what I need to do now.

Have you thought of having gates put on your drive Anne, that would stop anyone reversing down it. Surely they're not allowed to go onto any ones property without their permission. If you don't want to put up gates have you thought about putting a sign up asking them not to do it. Once they realise you're not happy they may stop doing it. Are you insured if they run into your car? I would check your insurance just in case.
I was telling Sandra that you could do with her at yours to organise all the jobs, she laughed and said just make a list go down it and tick things off when you've done them. It sounds so simple when she says it like that.......bless her. I taught her to be organised as she could never find anything and helped her put her things into separate boxes in her wardrobe, she thought it was such a good idea and now organises all sorts. She's even made a list of programmes we both want to watch when they say coming soon on TV and then when they give us the dates and times she adds them to the list ready for us to put on the planner. She knows we can't put anything on the planner until a week before, so like she said, this way we don't forget any of them.......very clever. I do have to pause the TV while she copies it down as her spelling isn't very good and sometimes she can't read it back so relays on me to put them on the planner for her. It makes my life easier too, as I just have to keep an eye on the list. I guess I taught her well, so much so she's organising me now LOL :-D :-D ;-) I must look up the books she asked me to do yesterday, I never got round to it as she was on my laptop recording the New Years Eve Fireworks and I forgot. I'll do that after I've sent this post or she'll be organising me again today if I don't ;-)

How did you get on with your timings Jane? Hope the meal was okay in the end. Sandra has me writing the timings down when she cooks the roast chicken and has a little clock she looks at to remember to do certain things during the cooking. She makes me laugh as she carries the clock around with her until everything is done. The only problem is if the food doesn't go in the oven at 12.30 she gets confused. I think it's because the first time she did it that's the time it went in and now it's stuck in her head, so if the food goes in the oven any other time she just can't work it out and gets a bit flustered, once I've written it down for her she's okay though.
I'm watching the Halcyon too, I like those sorts of programmes.

You do find your bargains Mandy, 2 rolls of Christmas paper for 20p. I think I'd like to go shopping with you ;-) ;-)
