Afternoon All

Oh I do hope they find the elderly man Ann. It doesn't sound too hopeful really if he has been missing for so long now and in this cold weather :-(.It is always so sad when this happens to someone with Dementia .They can just wander off and get themselves lost so easily. The poor family must be at their wits end with worry.

Mandy Max looks quite at home there in front of the fire :-D.Definitely got the best spot :-D..Thomas still never lies in front of our fire.He might go right up to it wit hhis nose almost on the glass ,and he will stare at it for a minute and then come away.I often expect to smell singed fur LOL. I hope you have warmed up now.I was like that the other day and just could not get warm at all.

Mel I hope that the foxes stay away from the hens !!.You don't often see 2 together do you?

I wonder how Frank is today?.Fingers crossed all went well yesterday .I'm sure it did.Maybe we will hear from him later or at least tomorrow.
I will have to ring Janice and see how Larry's eye injection went today. They had to drive all the way to Kidderminster(an hour and a half away) !!!!.They did a dummy run the other week to find out exactly where they had to go.Janice will have had to drive home, and I know she is not the most confident of drivers when away from her local area.I expect she will have one heck of a headache now ,what with worrying about Larry and then the drive home.

Anne, you will be getting excited now.Not long before you get to meet your little Ruby :-D :-D

Beef Stroganoff for us tonight.I have made it so it just needs reheating and then the rice .I think I will do some Green Beans to go with it.

Mandy he looks so comfy by the flickering fire! He looked to me as if he was hoping he wasn't going to be asked to move!! He is a very BIG boy now isn't he. :-)

Good to hear from you Frank and I expect your eye will feel more comfortable tomorrow. It can't be nice having blurry vision, but it should soon improve. <3 <3

I only left just in time for the alarm man as he passed me winding through the maze of vehicles in the close. OH told him he'd only just missed me and he said he'd thought it was me in the POSH car. lol. Well it seems that Karcher only issue operating instructions for the TOP model and the man agreed the contents in mine are not much good in telling you things like to change the battery when you can't! He went through everything with me though which was good. :-)

So you didn't have to wait to long then Frank, i'm sure tomorrow your sight will be better and things will be more in focus after all it is only twenty four hours since you had it done ,you'll soon have your head in your books again I'm sure.

Ann he is getting big but then his dad was a big boy, i just had to take the photo of him as he looked so comfy laying there.
I love my window vac ,mines a Vileda and I've used it quite a bit , you would have thought yours would have had instructions with it though , i think they think every one has the internet and can look on there for instructions now.

The poor man Ann, hope they find him soon, the family must be besides themselves with worry and the poor man must be so frightened.

Love the pic of Max Mandy, he's so much bigger than the pic on here now isn't he? He definitely has the best spot, right in front of the fire....bless him. Have you warmed up yet, it's awful when you have days like that isn't it?

Sounds like you've been busy today Mel. Hope your girls are okay with those foxes around.

Nice to see you back safe and sound Frank, your eye sight will be a little better day by day then you'll be able to read better. Do you have to go back for a follow up appointment like my OH did after his op?

Hope all went well for Larry today Jane and that Janice was okay driving home.

That was nice of the man to go through everything with you Ann.
It sounds like your drive is similar to my in-laws apart from that one being level. So putting a gate it would be impossible for you. Maybe you could ask them not to reverse down your drive because you're worried the weight of the vehicle might cause your drains to collapse, after all it's only a domestic driveway not a road and you don't want to take any chances.

Been busy today with some more sewing, helped Sandra finish off the apron for her gran which she gave to her this afternoon when she visited us with my sister. Spent a lovely few hours chatting away and seeing some pics of my sister's new place. Now I'm sorting out a quilted blanket I have, one side is falling apart, it's that old so I've taken that off and now I'm pinning some new material in it's place. I've done loads of sewing lately and I'm enjoying it so much I've decided to go back to altering some more clothes starting with the pink and white dress that Sandra thought was spare material last week :-D

Jane Report 19 Jan 2017 19:42

Ann,did the chap also say there was a Posh Bird driving the posh car??? ;-) ;-)
I don't understand why you had no instructions with the Karcher .That is pretty bad .Everything should have instructions whether it is top models or not.

Gill are you still going to your Sewing classes? You haven't mentioned them for a while .I hated sewing .My old Primary School teacher still remembers a skirt I made way back in about 1963/4 .She said she made most of it LOL.I have never had any interest at all in needlework. I can sew on a button, take up a hem ,and that is about it .Everything I need altering goes to the Dry Cleaners where they have a very good seamstress . That sounds a very old fashioned word to me .Maybe they aren't called that any more.

Larry's eye injection went fine .He had a bit of a wobble afterwards but not as bad as last time.Janice said the drive home was a bit stressful until she got on the motorway when she then knew where she was.The next injection in his eye is the middle of next month, and again in Kidderminster. At least Janice will know the way home
:-D
Time to eat here now :-D..I am pretty hungry.

We,ve had a poster in the village about an elderly man who has gone missing from Bideford. I meant to say when someone mentioned it the other day.

Oh rescued a lady driver that had gone into the dip outside the big house in a flood and got stuck. She was going home after shopping in Birmingham!!!!!!!!!!!! She must have been driving for 4 hours I should think.

Going to watch a bit of telly now and have anice glass of port before bed. See you all in the morning.

Night night

Morning all,

Cold and frosty morning here again and the suns out now. Must get some washing in and look out for the foxes again when the sun gets up over the arch into the top garden. May see them again in the same place.

Going to do a sheep sh*t pie for tonight later on but first I shall do a bit of HW and then a bit of crafting. I must say yesterdays has given me a lovely neck ache and now it feels all grissley when I roll my head around.

Gillx Report 20 Jan 2017 11:33

Morning Mel morning all

Sunny here today but cold with it.

The Auto Electrician has just turned up to take a look at our car he thinks it's just a plastic clip that needs sorting, hope that's all it is and it doesn't cost to much. Poor OH isn't very well so he has to make a doctors appointment for end of surgery tonight as there is a bad flu bug going around work all the patients have it and it's so bad they've had to call out a number of doctors to check them all over. OH and the rest of the staff have been told if they catch it they can't go into work for 5 days. Hope OH hasn't got it as we can't afford for him to be off sick again, he's only just gone back to work after having almost six weeks off.

Sorry to hear your neck is sore today Mel, maybe a day off from HW and crafting might help. All the films Sandra had me recording the other day we're going to watch today. I'll hand stitch my sewing at the same time.
So there's another man missing near you Mel, hope they find him soon. That was nice of your OH to help the lady who got stuck in the dip.

I've decided not to go on the sewing course Jane as it cost £25 an hour and last time I went she had us doing things I already new so I don't want to waste money. She did say that if anyone needed help just to call in and they will help us with what ever we are having difficulty with, which I think is a better way of doing things that way you're only paying for the help you need. I think they are still called seamstresses, but then I don't take anything to be altered so I could be wrong. Another word is Taylor but maybe they have a PC word now LOL. So long as your clothes are altered that's the main thing isn't it?
Pleased to hear Larry's eye injection went fine.

Going to get a cuppa now, see you all later

Afternoon all,

I'm here now Mel , I've been getting all the ironing done this morning , also went to the bank and the bakery for some rolls , had a hoover through and cleaned the fire out so i haven't been sitting about .

Mel thanks for the photo's of Mr Fox , he looks a good size and what a lovely colour he is .
Fancy that woman going to Birmingham to shop thats quite a journey she had .

Gill i hope your OH hasn't got the flu bug you don't want that in the house as it usually gets passed on and no one wants the flu .
It will be good if your car can be fixed save you having to buy another .
I didn't realise the sewing class was so expensive 25 pound an hour is a lot to pay out ,although she was providing all the materials wasn't she ?

Very frosty here this morning ,i have a garden tub with water in and the ice was really thick on there this morning ,i lifted the ice out so the birds could have a drink.

Hope you had a good night Frank and that the eye is beginning to bring things into focus now, you'll soon have your head in your book again.

Good afternoon all

I wrote a long post this morning early and for some reason it disappeared into the ether..

I had to have my annual tests with the diabetic nurse this morning she said I had lost a bit of weight, not news I wanted to hear but she said my BMI of 21 was fine.
I see the diabetic doctor next Friday for the results of the blood and urine tests.

Naughty fox Mel eyeing up your chickens but it was a good photo that you took.

Loved the photo of Max, Mandy he is a beautiful boy, is he fully grown now?

It's been another very cold day again but the sun is shining. I ordered 20kg of wild bird food on Amazon yesterday post free and it arrived this morning..The birds are eating a lot at the moment but I do get pleasure watching them in the garden

Looking forward to meeting Ruby tomorrow but not the journey.

Pleased to see Frank back on line and glad all went well for him

Frank Report 20 Jan 2017 15:35

Afternoon all.

Just back from HOSPITAL. I woke this morning with blurred vision again I also had FLOATERS. I rang the Hospital Eye Dept. and the nurse told me to go in A.S.A.P. Ros got dressed and of we went. Had to wait to see the nurse, who happened tp be the one I spoke to on the phone. She examined my eyes and put three different drops in my eyes. Back to the waiting area for 20 min. then called into another Doctor. More examination and FOUR different lots of drops. By this time I was as blind a a bat in both eyes. Finally in came the Surgeon who carried out the operation. MORE DROPS in my eyes and further examination. He told me I had small EYE BALLS, and that the from of my eye ball had swollen under the operation. We have to put drops in my eyes SIX TIMES a day then reduce each week. I will be getting an appointment in the post to go back and see him in a month.

SOD'S LAW, if anything was going wrong, It would be me. I tripped over my walking stick getting up to go in to see th doctor. Good job some chap grabbed me before I went to the floor.

I haven't read any posts yet, but will try later.

Afternoon Everyone
Frank, there was me thinking it would all be straightforward for you.I'm sure though that once the swelling of your eybeball goes down everyrthing will become clearer.
As if you haven't been through enough lately :-(.At least you have been seen by the sugreon today and got things sorted swiftly :-D

So all ready for tomorrow then Anne :-D.How long is the journey? I expect you will be taking some lovely pics of Ruby ,and hopefully be able to share them with us.She will be so much bigger now :-D

Gill, fingers crossed that the car trouble is just a simple thing like the chap said it might be.That would be just the best news for you. When will you know the outcome?

Mel that is one hefty and healthy looking fox !!!.Thanks for the pics.

I am watching Donald Trump ,or should I say President Trump(cringe).I am afraid he gives me the willies.I see it is raining there and he is getting a bit wet .

I nipped out about 3pm to go and buy this Fitbit watch thing for Chris's Birthday.I went to Currys for it,but they only had 2 and not the one I wanted. So they said to go to the bigger store as they had 6.I didn't even know we had another Currys. But it did mean I had to drive across the other side of town and it was School Run time then,so I got caught up in all the traffic. At least I have one pressy now :-D

Jane Report 20 Jan 2017 18:16

I meant to say in my last post........Gill, I am sorry to hear that OH is feeling so ill.Just after just getting back to work again too.It sounds whatever it is is rife at the home. Not good for the elderly residents either. He doesn't need this latest setback .
£25 a session for the sewing classes sounds quite expensive (not that I know how much these things cost),so I can understand you not continuing .If as you say you need help or advice and can just drop in and pay a little bit then that sounds a good idea. But you must be quite a dab had at sewing /needlework already :-D.You aren't frightened of giving anything a try :-D

Annx Report 20 Jan 2017 19:05

Evening All,

You did the right thing to ring the hospital and go back Frank. You've had bother with your knee and now your eye you poor thing! At least they know what the problem is and how to treat it so hopefully as the swelling goes down it will improve quickly.

Gill that is pricey for the sewing class so I don't blame you for changing your mind. There is so much help on the internet nowadays, you could always watch things like youtube videos and books are very helpful too. Sorry to hear your OH seems to be coming down with another bug. He's hardly better from the last one. I expect he has to have flu jabs with working in the home, but even they can't protect against everything. That sounds promising about your car though so fingers crossed it will soon be fixed.

That looks a well fed fox Mel!! At least your chickens won't be roaming loose with the bird flu restrictions, but you don't want him anywhere near really.

The local paper says a body has been found in the water at Jubilee Park which is a 10 minute walk from here just the other side of the big island where cars keep crashing. It looks likely it is that poor man with dementia as he lived very close to the park. The river Soar runs along the edge of it and it is where I have taken some flood photos in the past few years. What a shame.:-S

That's reminded me of something typical that OH said yesterday that made me chuckle. We were driving past the church in the village and noticed there were 2 police cars in their tiny car park. I said I wondered if more lead had been stolen from the church roof as it has happened a couple of times already. Keeping his face straight, OH said 'maybe they have found a body in the churchyard!!' :-)

Jane, OH said the alarm man never mentioned the 'posh' bird!! :-D He only had eyes for the car methinks! He's a lovely man about our age and I have always dealt with him before, even after OH retired, but I decided OH can stop in and deal with more of these things now!! He's a retired fireman and OH said he stopped ages chatting and looking out onto the garden.

Anne, it will be great to see Ruby and how she's growing. I'm sure the journey will pass by very quickly!

I had a scam email about a refund on our TV licence today. It even threatened criminal proceedings if I tried to claim what I shouldn't!! Cheek........as OH deals with that and it's in his name anyway! That soon got deleted!!! :-|

Jane

Jane Report 20 Jan 2017 19:58

Ann, I had a feeling that poor man would be found in the river. I always remember Mum when in the 'fog' of dementia saying she wanted to go and throw herself into the river.
I wonder if this is what this is what happened to this man.it is terribly sad :-(

Well fancy that chap just looking at the posh car ,but not the posh bird LOL
Love the Body in the Churchyard comment from OH :-D :-D :-D..I just love his sense of humour.

James and Chris have eaten.I will have mine in a minute when Eastenders is on.It is a double one tonight.

Morning all,

Yet another dry day, I could get used to this and the sun's trying to come out too.

Oh had to wake me up again this morning, well just 13 mins ago will be a bit longer by the time I post this but when I came out of the bathroom into the kitchen it was 11 am.

Nothing much planned for today only the usual visit to the shop and clean the girls out.

Hope the drive to Brighton dos'nt seem to long for Anne. Bet she is really excited about seeing little Ruby and not too long before she gets her home. What fun and games there will be then. ;-) ;-)

Frank

Frank Report 21 Jan 2017 11:17

That's all I needed. I JUST LOST A BIG POST.

Morning to you all, evening Kim,

No improvement on the eye front. When I close my right eye, I can't see a thing, worse than last night. Then, I could make out various things in the room. So there is nothing I can do, but wait and see. (Not meant as a pun) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Anne I bet you are overjoyed with excitement going to see RUBY today. Give her a cuddle from me xxx

That must have been a bad experience for the person who found that body in the lake. Not something I would want to do. Our OH is a bit quick of the mark about the police in the church car park. I love his humour.

Silly Ros has gone off out without her hearing aids, and her telephone. As she went out she called out "I have my phone if you think of anything we want" I want a new light bulb for the lounge readting light. YES, I rang her, and the phone rang on the table.

It was very foggy and frosty here first thing, but now the sun is up and it's a nice cold day. Not a cloud in the sky.

Had some bad news yesterday, one of Ros's old friends was operated yesterday for Bowel Cancer which has also spread to her liver.

Any news on the car Gill ?? It's a pity you are so far away, as I still have contacts in the Motor Trade for cheaper cars. Lets hope your chap can fix it. It will save a big expense.

Thanks for your call last night Jane, it was nice to have a chat. and a giggle ;-) ;-)

I made Ros smile last night. For some unknown reason they put on TWO AND A HALF HOURS of soaps. I said "I could have enjoyed myself more by sticking pins in my eyes" I sat a nodded in the armchair, watched Bobby and Tina and went to bed. I slept like a log, even with my plastic cover over my eye.

What are you all up to over the weekend ?? No plans for us. I must get a joint out of the freezer for tomorrows dinner. A piece of beef sounds good to me.

I won't say "SEE YOU LATER" but I will try to get back on this afternoon !!!
