Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Jan 2017 14:54

O dear Frank that was'nt nice to wake and be blind in your left eye. Has it got better during the day and can you manage your eye drops on your own if Ros is out? Fancy her saying she has her phone when she left it on the table. Must admit that is something I might do!! but the other way round as once I wanted to rng oh and I had left my phone on charge! :-S

Well I should be cleaning the girls out but the sun has gone and the sky is grey and its bl**dy cold out there and now I don't feel like it so I may just give them more shavings in their house.

Jane Report 21 Jan 2017 15:03

Afternoon All
That was a good sleep in this morning Mel. I was awake at 4am ! :-S. Got up for the loo, looked at my phone and read the news, then read my kindle.I think I dropped off again about 6.30 ,then the alarm went off at 7 :-| :-|. Chris tols me he had turned it off.
So no more sleep for me. I watched 2 programmes on my lap top .One was the Digging for Britain that was on last year, and the other was about the young English lad who was going to try and kill Donald Trump.

Frank ,I reckon once the swelling in your eye goes down you will be able to see much clearer .It must be frustrating for you just waiting now. At least you managed a good sleep last night. That would have given your eye a good rest .

Gill how is OH today? Any better? Any news on the car ?.

I expect by now Anne will have met and had a good cuddle with Ruby

:-D :-D..I can't wait to see another pic :-D

Freezing Fog here this morning.Boy it was thick !.It is just grey and really cold now.It will be a lazy afternoon I think in front of the fire.We moved the settees around this morning as one settee gets used more than the other .My weight flattens the cushions on the smaller one ,so the other cushions need a bit of squishing down to match :-D :-D.So we just swapped them over.
It is very quite here.No TV on. Chris is sat reading a paper and listening to something with headphones on,and Thomas is fast asleep full of mice.

You made me laugh at Thomas being full of mice. :-D

I meant to say I hope Gill's oh has'nt given the lergy to Gill and Sandra as we have'nt heard from her.

Gillx

Gillx Report 21 Jan 2017 16:10

I'm here Mel and I'm okay so is Sandra. OH doesn't have the flu bug that's going around his works which is great, but he does have a virus, he can still work according to the doctor, as a virus can't be passed on.

Well, we've found out what wrong with the car, it's the starter motor. The Auto Electrician has just left he put a started button on the ignition as part of that had broken but when he did a test on the starter motor he said it wasn't working properly and was draining the battery, so OH is going to ring the garage on Monday to get another one as we've not long bought it off them. OH can fit it himself so that shouldn't cost us anything as the part will be replaced free as we only bought it a few months ago. We just want the car to last another couple of months so the tax isn't due right after Christmas, it's due in March on this car so we'd like to keep it around the same month if we can.

The death certificate for Josepha arrived this morning Mel, but no marriage cert, so I rang them and they said it had been dispatched on the 19th, hopefully it'll arrive on Monday. Let's hope her father's name is mentioned and that it's his real name. I should imagine Hannah, the woman she stayed with in her childhood, would of known her father's name so with a bit of luck she'll have told Josepha and it's been put on her marriage certificate.
How are your girls, hope they are okay with that fox around? The pictures were good, it's a big fox isn't it?

How is your eye now Frank can you see any better than this morning? I don't suppose all those drops you had would of helped, your eye sounds like it was full of them. Let's hope when the swelling goes down you'll be able to see okay.

Sorry to hear you didn't have a very good nights sleep Jane. I laughed too with the comment about Thomas being full of mice. How are you finding the other sofa, good idea to swap them over?

I wonder how Anne slept last night with the excitement of seeing Ruby today. Hope she managed to take some photo's, it won't be long before she can bring Ruby home......then the fun will start LOL. I remember how Mandy was with Max.

So you think they might of found the man in the river Ann. It's so sad isn't it?

Just catching up with all the soaps at the moment as I recorded a two part film on Princess Diana, which took me almost six hours to watch last night. Then when that finished it was time for Tina and Bobby, a programme Sandra and I have been following. I think Frank said he's been watching it too. After that Sandra wanted to watch her Big Brother, it was eviction night and then OH was falling asleep so we went to bed.

Well, I'd better go Sandra is waiting to watch the rest of the soaps before dinner.

My first husband used to service Bobby Moores car and I had driven it. It was a bright red Jag. I also worked in a boutique before I was married and Bobby's wife used to come in there and Jo Brown's wife.

I went down the shop today and what should I find on the fruit counter? An orange wrapped in tissue!! I have'nt seen one of those for years and years. Its a spanish orange so I had to buy it just to take a pic of it to show you.

Annx Report 21 Jan 2017 21:01

Thanks for the pics of Ruby.......I managed to open them ok this time! :-) What a little poppet she is Anne. Just think, soon she will be home with you and walking through those woods!

Your car should soon be on the road again Gill! Much cheaper than changing it too.

That was interesting Mel.......the famous people you met! You did some interesting jobs too!

I went to the garden centre on the A5 this afternoon but half of it was fenced off being refurbished. Outside it looks like they are building walls to make it half as big again as well! The garden centre on the way to the retail park down the road is having a big extension built on part of the car park and it was only last year they extended all the restaurant and parking. Who said times were hard??

I wonder how many mice Thomas has in a day? We noticed a new Tabby in the close yesterday. That makes 5 new cats in the last couple of years and none of them live our side of the close that backs onto the field. In fact there have been no cats our side of the close in the last 17 years!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Jan 2017 21:11

What an absolute little darling Ruby is. Thanks for sending the pics on Jane. I was going to say what a poppet but Ann beat me to it!

Going to watch Taboo in a min. I am into it now.

We have new Call the Midwife tomorrow.

The other person my hubby did the car for was Trevor Brooking. He was a partner with another chap oh knew as well as playing footie. I had his car for a day also when he had an MG. It was like getting into the driving position on the road it was so low to the ground. He had our car which was a Capri 2000.

Anne

Anne Report 21 Jan 2017 21:32

Thank you Jane for forwarding on Ruby's photos, those two are the ones Paul took,
Richard also took a couple so will get him to send them onto me.
We saw her four brothers as well as her Mum and the other two grown up Boston girls a Mum and daughter all living in the house and very spoilt. We have arranged to pick her up on the 18th Feb, something special to look forward to I've fallen in love with her she is adorable

We had a good journey and going down didn't take as long as we thought coming back M3 slip road was closed so had to carry on the M25 and come off at the M4 which brings us to the other side of Bracknell

I haven't read any of the posts yet as I am really tired, after seeing Ruby we went into Brighton's main shopping centre, we were parked for three hours and had to pay £15-00 parking charges unbelievable :-0 :-0

Also watching Taboo a bit gory

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Jan 2017 22:33

I just wish Taboo did'nt have so much foul language in it. I am now ging to watch last weeks Country File.

Gillx Report 21 Jan 2017 23:08

What cute photo's of Ruby Anne, thanks for passing them on Jane. I bet you can't wait for the 18th now Anne, you're going to have so much fun with her.
That's a lot to pay for parking.

I read about Taboo Mel, but it wasn't my type of thing so I didn't bother watching it in the end. Mind you with all the programmes Sandra has us watching I doubt I'd of had the time to watch it anyway. I have to squeeze some programmes in on the planner that OH and I like and watch, then watch them when Sandra's watching other programmes on her TV.

Off to bed now, see you all tomorrow
Night Night

Having a lovely COT made by OH. Very cold morning here but we're still snug in bed watching wild life on TV.
They do warn you about the bad language and violence on Taboo prior to the episodes Mel, so it's not as if people don't know what to expect! We love it !!
We're taking Cas on an sponsored walk this afternoon. It's an event to help raise money for a new health centre. Our surgery is very stretched and desperate for more space, and its amazing how the staff cope so well, stay so good tempered and helpful! They're brilliant in every way and we're very lucky to have them!
Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning Liz and all,

Dull and gloomy here today the kind of day that makes you want to stay in bed till the weather brightens up.

Going to try and get some crafting done today. I had rubber stamping stuff for Christmas and hav'nt played with it yet.

Frank

Frank Report 22 Jan 2017 10:51

Morning ladies and gents, evening Kim.

Had another excellent sleep last night. Was in bed by 10.00 pm. On local Radio was Richard Spendlove. An older presenter. He played some really good music and songs from way back. I just had to lay there till the programme finished, and went to sleep very contented.

Liz Ian could have bought me a cuppa, as I was lying awake, deciding if I was going to get up or have an extra hour. I had an extra hour.

I heard from my Nephew (John) this morning. My sister Mary (the only one left in my family) had a STROKE on Wednesday and is in a London Hospital. He is going to try to find out which one, so I can send her a card.

Bitter cold bright morning out there today. Lets hope the sun burns off the frost.

RUBY looks a sweet little thing Anne. I bet you can't wait to gt her home, for all the love and attention I am sure you will give her.

Gill, While the OH is fitting a new Starter Motor it might be a good idea to replace the FAN BELT. They do tend to stretch. It will save you having to do it later. Lets hope everything will be O.K. after that.

I see our Thomas is keeping the mouse population under control Jane. Does he leave the head and tail somewhere for you to find ?? (OURS left them under the table)

Ros is going to get me settled in the shower on a stool, and is going to wash my hair. NO JANE not with a plastic bag over my head !!!!. I also need a shave, I haven't had one since Wednesday.

The eyes still very blurred and is mostly Black and White images, but I think it's starting to improve.

I am going to try to prepare the veg for dinner. That will save Ros a job.

Have a good day folks xxx

Liz I am enjoying Taboo too. Can't remember how many episodes we have of that but think its 8 so we still have 5 to go.

Good morning All

Very cold and frosty here again even colder than yesterday the bottom pond has frozen over except where the waterfall from the top pond goes into it haven't ventured up there yet to have a look only been out to feed the birds.

Gill that was good news about your car and pleased to hear your OH is feeling better now, has he had a flue jab?

I hope your eye is starting to clear Frank and you are beginning to see better it must have been very scary not being able to focus properly. What with your knee and now this you must be feeling pretty low at the moment.

Cooking roast lamb for the main meal today we usually eat about 1.30 as Paul & Richard have ice hockey after they have taken the girls home.

Thank you once more Jane for forwarding on Ruby's photos I have now sent a few more taken by Richard, I don't no why but on one of them she reminds me of a little squirrel must be her tiny ears :-D :-D

Well all veg. done as is the cheese sauce and Yorkshire pudding. I usually put three eggs in the mix, but the eggs got yesterday are so BIG I only used two.

Clean little boy now, and clean shaven. Dos is sitting on the sofa with her hair dryer going, so I can't hear a thing.

The photo's are beautiful Anne, what a lovely little girl she is. xx. When do you get her home ??

The eye is not a lot better, still very blurred . Must get Ros to put more drops in. This six a day is a bit much and the time between doses seems to come round so quickly. I haven't been able to read the paper yet. I did try, but it was difficult, so left well alone.

Haven't had any more news on Ros's friend or my sister. I have contacted my sisters son on FB so hope I get some news later.

Hair dryer gone off, so I can go and sit down again !!!
