Thats nice that Max enjoys the children company Mandy and it wears him out for a good nights sleep too.

Been doing a bit of crafting. I should really wash my hair but then I shall miss the light we do have at the moment. Shall need a MOT soon and perhaps a crumpet.

Afternoon Everyone

Anne ,I bet you will be dreaming of Ruby now LOL I think we have all fallen in love with her <3.Had she been sleeping in the bed with her Brothers when you arrived?

So another good nights sleep for you last night Frank. That mattress must be making a big difference. Lets hope your eye is less blurred tomorrow.I expect it will be.

Do the girls often come for sleepovers at yours Mandy? Is it one at a time
:-D.It must be like a treat for them and I expect they get spoiled rotten lol.Max seems to have enjoyed having Chelsea there to romp about with.No wonder he is pooped out today.

Anne do Paul and Richard play Ice Hockey ? Or is it matches they go to watch ?The nearest place to here for Ice Hockey used to be Peterborough. But I don't know if it still is.

The frost on the lawn hasn't thawed today.Well some of it did but there are still massive patches still there.Looks like another chilly night tonight looking at the sky.

Roast Beef ,for us all tonight.Boy it is smelling good now :-D No Cauliflower cheese of course FRANK.I still find it a strange thing to have with a roast. I have the Carrots and Parsnips with Thyme ready to go in ,and the other veg is Sprouts ,and Brocolli .
James has just arrived home from Kent and has been asking what time dinner is LOL
NOT YET!

FRank,I hope you find out where your Sister is and can send a card to her. Also I hope her stroke is not a really bad one.
You asked if Thomas left Heads and Tails of mice........He eats the lot ,just leaves some horrible innards .

How did the sponsored walk go Liz, did Cas have a good time. How far did you walk? Hope enough was raised for the new health centre.

Did you manage to get any crafting done today Mel? It sounds like you have lots to do. Have you used your rubber stamping yet?

Pleased to hear you had another good nights sleep Frank. That must of been nice listening to all those songs on the radio. Sorry to hear about your sister Mary, hope she gets better soon. Hope your eye carries on improving for you.

Yes OH has had a flu jab Anne, so that's probably why he hasn't got the flu. Unfortunately he's got a virus, but does feel much better today. I loved the photo's of Ruby, Sandra and I think she's so cute. When is she moving in with you, it can't be to long now, didn't you say sometime in February?

It sounds like Max had fun with Chelsea, Mandy. Hope he's caught up with his sleep now ;-) He'll need his energy for when Katie stays LOL.

Been busy catching up with all my washing today and decided to change the bedding too, so a very busy day.

Just settling down for the evening now, looking forward to Call the Midwife, unless Sandra has us watching something else. I've set it to record just in case.

Evening All,

I think we have a Ruby Fan Club here now Anne! How sweet she is with her littermates all cosy in their bed!! <3 <3

Had to smile at you Mandy.......Black and White vision.......just like the old tellys and photos! I'm sure you'll soon be seeing in full technicolour Frank, well, apart from red and green of course! Sorry to hear about your sister and I hope you can get an address to send send her a card. Could you send one via her son if not?Max sounds like he is very much taken with Chelsea and has worn himself out keeping an eye on her all day! I wonder if he will be just the same with Katie?

Mel.......did you mean 'MOT' or 'COT'! lol. :-) I wonder what you are making now and whether the rubber stamps are being used on it!

I watched an old National Trust prog in bed this morning from the series presented by Nigel Havers. This one was of Ward House in Ireland and I was fascinated as the husband and wife who had it built couldn't agree on the style!! So what they did was have one aspect of it built in a Neo Classical style and the opposite side of the house was built in a Gothic style!! It didn't end there either as the inside had rooms that were in either one or the other style too. I think if OH had his ideal style for a room it would be like a gentleman's library with surrounding bookcases and a large, leather topped desk in the middle with a fountain pen and inkwell!! lol.

A few good progs tonight with the Open All Hours sequel which we like now we've got into it, Call the Midwife and the the new thriller Apple Tree Yard looks as if it might be good. :-)

Yes we had a really good afternoon Gill. A bit weary now, particularly Cas! but it's in a good cause as we desperately need a bigger surgery. I think there will be other fund raising events in the summer as of course it's a very expensive project!
Nothing else planned for this week, apart from hairdresser, but who knows what may turn up !!

Gillx

Gillx Report 22 Jan 2017 21:21

You'll all sleep well tonight Liz. Has there been lots of fund raising events so far or was this the first of many? It's a good thing to raise money for isn't it and it will benefit so many people. Have they got anything online that people can donate to, as like you said it's a very expensive project, so putting the word out there can only help?
Was there many people on the sponsored walk today, hope the weather wasn't to cold for everybody. It's been freezing here.

Well, I didn't see call the midwife as Sandra was watching her programmes. I don't mind if it makes her happy, she's got us watching Big Brother now. Good job I recorded my programme. I will watch it in the morning while she's asleep as I'm always up before her. OH is hoping to fix the car tomorrow so it'll be nice and quiet.

Off to bed shortly so I'll say goodnight. Hope everyone has a good nights sleep <3

See you all tomorrow

Yes Gill I have been crafting all afternoon. Decided to make a change so its taking longer than I first thought. I am enjoying it though. Your still not going to see it till its finished though.

Ann MOT was "mug of tea" as we don't have cups in this house only for VERY special occasions when the Minton comes out. It was mums so is safely stowed away in the uti room cupboard.

Oh is watching the snooker...................................boring after a while.

magpie

magpie Report 22 Jan 2017 22:26

No Gill, it's only a local fund raising. I think there maybe more events in the summer, have to see what gets suggested.
Endeavour was very good tonight. We recorded the new thriller and will watch Call the Midwife on catchup. I'm in bed and OH is in the bathroom getting ready for bed, so we shall be tucked up soon! Cas is tucked up with Teddy, (she loves Teddy and always takes him into her cage at bedtime!) and is crashed out !

Anne

Anne Report 23 Jan 2017 08:00

Good morning all

Just having my first cuppa before having a shower and breakfast.

I hope everyone had a good nights sleep and ready to face the day. Hope your eye has continued to improve Frank. Have you heard any more about how your sister is?

Cas must look so sweet cuddling up with her Teddy at bed time Liz I expect she was really tired bless her after the Fundraising walk, do you know how much was raised in total?

We also watched Endeavor , Richard didn't go to ice hockey after all as he had had a really bad tooth ache earlier and didn't want it to start again when he was out. They don't play but support the local team "The Bracknell Bees" He is having the offending wisdom tooth out shortly along with the one on the opposite side. Costing him a small fortune but it only has to be done once, unless the remaining ones need doing at a later date.

We have arranged to collect Ruby on the 18th Feb when she will be 2 months old
They were all in their cage when we arrived on Saturday and all came tumbling out to meet us, she is the smallest but not far behind the others. Alison was saying at one time Ronnie, their Mum separated the boys away from Ruby and tried to wrap her up in a blanket. When we left they were all snuggled up in their bed together fast asleep.while Mum was pinching their remaining food.

Not much planned for today my SIL always rings on a Monday for a long chat I wish we lived nearer

Thanks again Jane for sending the pictures on for me and the tip about taking baby wipes for Ruby in case she is car sick, thinking back I can remember a couple of our Boxer pups had that trouble

magpie Report 23 Jan 2017 08:49

Yes Anne, Cas just loves 'Teddy' in fact she's got four (!!) Teddies! I buy them from the Hospice shop, and she gets really excited when she gets a new one!! Trouble is, she doesn't look after them that well so they are all a bit battered!! I bet you can't wait till you bring Ruby home, they're so sweet when they're little (Bit like children!!) and if she's anything like Cas, you will be well pleased.
No we don't know yet how much money was raised, but no doubt we shall find out fairly soon.
Cas has come to tell me that breakfast is ready!! OH opens the gate for her in the passageway and sends her to the bedroom to get me, she runs down and grunts at me with her tail wagging furiously, then scuttles back up to OH and grunts at him!! (Millie used to do the same) She is a such a happy little soul, and always manages to make us feel cheerful, even on a bad day!!

Gillx Report 23 Jan 2017 11:11

Morning all

Dull day here, very cloudy, but dry

So it's the 18th you'll be picking little Ruby up Anne, not long now, then you'll be able to cuddle her more often. Good idea with the baby wipes, hope you don't need them though and she has a pleasant journey home.

How cute Cas must look with her Teddy Liz. I see your OH has got her trained in the mornings, coming to get you for your breakfast.....bless her. I hope lots of money was raised for the health centre.

It sounds like you're getting there with your crafting Mel, looking forward to seeing what it is. The marriage certificate arrived this morning and the name isn't what we were expecting for Josepha's father, it's Antonio Rodrigeues, so at least we know where the Rodrigeues name came from now, he was a farmer and was deceased at the time of her marriage in December 1904. I wonder where the name Duran came from, unless it was her mother's maiden name and if it was why was it put at the end. There are two names on the marriage certificate for her, Josepha Rodrigeues Duran and Josepha Rodrigeues, very odd, especially when her maiden name was down as Duran on her children's birth records. Maybe Duran is the name she used in the UK when she came over here from Bogota. At least I know who her father was now.

Well, I was up till 4am this morning doing my family tree, didn't realise the time and was up again at 10am so that'll be me tired this afternoon LOL I sent a message off to a tree match and he has replied, so I'd better go and answer it. This was for another branch of my Beech line who emigrated to Australia in 1951. It seems I have family all over the world. OH has given my German relatives information to a friend of his who said her son might be able to find out more for me, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed he find something.

Going for a cuppa now, then I might try to find out more about Antonio Rodrigeues.

Morning all,

Thanks to Liz for the pics of the sun coming up. It looks like you may have a beautiful day.

We have a VERY hard frost but the sun is out now full blast so where it reaches will thaw.

I came out for my MOT and looked up the garden to see the fox in the patch of sun.

Foprgot to post this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gill her parents probably were'nt married and thats why she has the two names.

My gt gt grandad was base born and he had his fathers surname as his middle name. I think he married someone else and later his mum married another man. It was a way of saying who the fathers were way back then.

Frank Report 23 Jan 2017 12:28

Afternoon all,

I am pleased you enjoyed your walk yesterday Liz, and hope the money pours in.

Mel, What are you like, forgetting to post. Yesterday afternoon we sat and watched Rick Stein on his trips around Britain. He mentioned HOLSWORTHY. Is there a DUCK or GOOSE farm in that area. ??? I am sure that's what he was referring too.

I gave myself a shock, while watching his programme I said to Ros "He's wearing a BLUE SHIRT" So yes Mandy I am paid up for COLOUR ;-) ;-) ;-)

Gill I hope your car gets sorted today. It can't be any fun for your OH having to walk to work. Is it far ???

Ruby will be loved so much come the 18th Feb. I hope we get "HOME COMING PHOTO'S"

No news yet on my sister. I can't send a card via her son, as I don't have his address. Ros's old friend is comfortable in hospital, but in quite a bit of pain. They are hoping she will be allowed home this coming weekend. Her two son's are here. One from Surrey the other from Newcastle. She doesn't want any visitors. Dos has passed on a card for her.

My eye feels very strange, I am able to focus a bit better now. BUT, when I look down when walking the floor seems a long way off. I assume the better it gets the better I will feel.

Lewis rang last night. He had us in stitches. He said he had a scruffy woman in the patisserie yesterday with HORRIBLE GREEN AND YELLOW TEETH, She sat there eating her food, when she coughed, and the food spattered all over the table. He took her a glass of water over, and was tempted to offer her his tooth brush and toothpaste, which he always has at work. He was also tempted to THROW the water over her, but she sipped it and stopped coughing. LITTLE BEGGER !!!!

Ros is sorting her needlework box out. There are tools all over the table.

Will have to look on FB to see if my nephew has been in touch.

Annx

Annx Report 23 Jan 2017 17:32

Afternoon All,

That's good you can see a bit better Frank. Until you have a new prescription for glasses after the eye has settled down your vision will be a bit funny anyway. I can just picture Lewis' face with the woman coughing everywhere. So many people don't cover their mouths it's horrid.

Ah ha I see now Mel ;-). We have MOTs as well and very rarely COTs. Well it saves washing up saucers and helps the planet!! lol.

Liz I am flummoxed by these events to raise funds from the public to build a bigger surgery?? Who will the funds you raise be paid to as it would seem upgrading is in hand and the funds are already being made available? Unless maybe yours isn't included.

This is a quote from NHS England last October:

'GP practices to benefit from new surgeries and upgraded clinics across England

19 October 2016 - 16:36

NHS England Chief Executive Simon Stevens will today unveil the latest action to support GPs and primary care sustain and expand services.

First, he will announce the GP practices to benefit from NHS England’s Estates and Technology Transformation Fund. The Estates and Technology Transformation Fund is a multi-million pound investment boost in GP premises and technology.'

We had a little sunshine for a short time this morning but it soon went gloomy again. We tried a newly opened carvery from the same group as one of the others we go to, but shan't go again! The decor was nice and new but we are used to picking our own table and although the place was almost empty they tried to put us on a pokey 2 seater table till I asked why we couldn't have a bigger table. Then the chef was so busy yack yacking to a customer he knew he tried to give me 2 meats instead of just turkey and also plonked a yorkshire pud on my plate without asking if I wanted one (I didn't!) We had to climb 6 steps from the carvery to our table which isn't great when you have a plateful of food and 'iffy' knees. Also they had forgotten to put any sauces out. :-S

I will be posting something to you for Sandra tomorrow Gill so look out for it! I hope your OH manages to fix the car ok.

Evening all,

Blooming cold frosty day here today ,like you Ann we saw a little sun but it didn't last long.

That's good that your beginning to see the colours again Frank ,all the drops must be making your eyes blurred so once you ease up on them i expect things will look clearer
I hate to see people coughing into their hands ,i always use a tissue ,the same when i sneeze ,yuk people cough into their hands and then touch things in the shops.

Ann that's not very good sending people up stairs with plates of food ,i don't think i could do it as i always take my handbag with me when i go for the food so i have plate in one hand and bag in the other so there's no way i could hold a stair rail, i bet they get some spillages and that wouldn't be good on steps !!

Lovely photo's of the sun coming up this morning Liz .

We always use mugs for our tea and coffee ,Colin likes a big mug ,i have a smaller one ,i think the only time we have cups and saucers is at christmas .
I think i will soon have to get some more every day plates and dishes ,i notice one or two have little chips on the edge , i have chipped some when i've got them out of the dish washer i catch them on the prongs .

Did anyone watch Apple Tree Yard last night ? :-0 good thing it was on after nine o'clock !!!!

Thank goodness Chris retired when he did from General Practice . It is just getting worse and worse.I think he got out at just the right time.
I hope the sponsored walk made a good amount Liz.Cas did her bit :-D
It is a good idea buying her 'Teddies' from the charity shop.Pet toys are always so expensive especially when they don't last too long either lol . Iremember Chester would often manage to destroy a toy within the first few hours.Especially the squeaky ones.

Frank, it does sound as though things are getting there now with your sight. I'm not sure but I think it takes the brain a little time to adjust to having a new lens .I might be barking up the wrong tree though.
I would have loved to have seen Lewis and that lady !!!!!!!.She sounded pretty gross. :-S

Frank,I did see on FB that your Sister is improving in hospital. That must be a relief for you.I hope that you can get the address of the hospital she is in <3
I am sorry to hear how poorly Ros's friend is.I hope she will be able to maybe have treatment to help her .

It is 17 years today that my best friend died.(I can't get my head around that). This was Rachel's Mum.It just doesn't seem like 17 yrs. That had to be the most difficult day of my life .That was the moment Chris and I became 'surrogate ' parents. :-(

On a lighter note...Did anyone watch Apple Tree Yard last night ?...I think it is going to be a good one. :-D

We have decided to go back to Hay on Wye for a couple of days in April. We stopped there briefly in September on the way to Pembrokeshire to have a look at all the second hand bookshops ,but it poured with rain and we only had an hour before we had to set off and Chris was very disappointed not to have had longer there. He loves his books. :-D..There is a great Butchers shop there and a wonderful Deli.So we have to take the plug in Cool Box for the car,to bring goodies home :-D

Left over Roast Beef tonight with Mash,Roast Carrots and Parsnips and a ton of lovely gravy :-D

SNAP Jane, But I did ours the oven with onions and potato's in gravy, nice crispy tops to the spuds. Boiled Parsnips .Calibre, brussels and carrots. Two clean plates so it must have been alright.

Have never been down that way on the Wye. Must give it a try sometime.

This week isn't good for me either Jane It's my dads 59 anniversary of his death on the 30th Jan. This week I spent at his bedside in London Hospital, Whitechapel Road.

I have an address for my sister, so Ros will get a card off in the post tomorrow.

Didn't see Apple tree Yard. Is it worth watching on catchup ??

Once again the eye is improving. I have to go to the opticians 6 weeks after the operation. They should be able to prescribe new glass's then. As it is at the moment, the glass's aren't giving me good vision, and I can't see that well without them.

I always try to get my hankie out before I sneeze. No wonder Lewis wasn't very happy with that woman.

It seems that we are going to get freezing fog tonight. I hope none of you need to be out to early. I know I won't !!!
