Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Jan 2017 19:36

Went to Bideford shopping but first I went up the High St to go and bank some money. I needant have bothered as I went up to get some wild bird foods in Poundstretcher and on the way up I spotted a nice cotton blousey shirt in M & Co. Went in on the way down the hill after getting a load of bird foods and also liked another top in there so I thought I would just give them a try on. Walking past to go to the changing room I spotted a fleece sleeveless in a lovely cornflower blue which would go with both the tops. Tried the sleeveless first and it fitted great, then tried one of the tops but when I had it on it had a dropped front and a v shaped cut either side but one side was much higher than the other so that one was a no no. The other shirt was fine so I bought myself the shirt and fleece. The shirt is patterned in very small flowers in Navy, whire blue and yellow. The one I did'nt buy also had tiny flowers and dragonflies on it and that one you had to put over your head and had like a lowish neck and a slit down it and false buttons. Mind you that one was £22 and my shirt was only £18. I have a lot of their shirts and they are usually about £25 a go. I can only wear cotton and some other material thats a natural fabric. Can't think of the name at the mo but it will come to me, it creases a lot and I don't mean Linen.

So two turn tables then Ann!! I think these firms get so bogged down at Christmastime they don't know what they are doing. If you don't have to pay twice jst accept it!

Annx Report 24 Jan 2017 22:30

Your shirt and fleece sound nice Mel and will go together nicely as you say.

Well I rang Tesco about the turntable and they couldn't understand why they sent me the email and confirmed a turntable will be on it's way. They had records of me cancelling it and of them authorising a refund and paying it to me. (this will show on my next statement) They are going to try and cancel the delivery now!!!

OH has been to a match and says it's very frosty already.

Morning all,

Another frosty morning and now the sun is out. Hav'nt fed the wild birds yet and they are all gathering in the box hedge. I woke at sunrise and listened to a bird singing. It must have been close as we have double glazing but it was so sweet a song. I must have dropped back off then as I woke later with plane lines in a lovely blue sky.

What I have planned for today is ironing as there is iles of it and washing in the machine too. I should run the hoover round also.

So see you later. :-)

Morning Mel, Morning all,

Happy Birthday Liz hope you are enjoying your day .

Very frosty here to this morning but it's now thawing ,the fog is lingering looks like its going to take a while for it to go .

We watch the planes go over when we're having breakfast , the other day we counted eight all leaving a long trail , we also counted 15 little Blue Tits flying out of the tree one behind other .

Not a lot happening here today i think it's a stay in by the fire day ,its lit and roaring away .

Good morning to you all, Evening Kim,

Had a very bad night last night with indigestion. When I par boiled the potato's last night, I sprinkled GARLIC over them before roasting. They were beautiful, but boy did they play me up. Gave me wind as well, so not a popular bed companion. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Laid for hours, When I did drop of it seemed time to get up, as I had to be at one of the surgery' at 9.30 am for a scan on my stomach. (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm) All Clear.Ready for a sleep now.

Eye seems a bit better this morning, I have had one lot of drops, another anytime soon.

That was a good walk for Chris Jane. I don't think I could manage two miles.

Just had Toast and Coffee. and more drop. Eye feeling funny now. I will leave you to this horrible foggy morning.

Morning all

Nice and sunny here today. OH has fixed the car so hopefully everything will be okay now.....time will tell I suppose. He's gone out in it today so I'll find out more when he returns later.

Happy Birthday Liz have you got anything nice planned for your special day? <3 <3 <3

Nice to hear your eye is feeling a bit better today Frank, sorry to hear you had a bad nights sleep though, maybe you should leave the garlic out next time. Pleased to hear your scan was clear, that's one less thing to worry about.

It sounds like you're going to be busy today Mel, at least the sun is out so that should spur you on as like you've said in the past you feel like doing more when the weather is nice :-)

OH and I noticed quite a few planes lining up to land at Liverpool Airport last night Mandy. It was dark so all you could see was a line of lights. How nice to see the blue tits flying around. We had lots of seagulls over the back this morning, someone must of put some bread out for them. Rosie jumped on our windowsill this morning wanting her breakfast, it's been ages since she's done that. It's nice to see her back as she disappeared for a while.

I've just been taking a look at the people I put on my tree the other day and noticed that the children were registered under the first husbands surname then again under the Beech surname, so now I'm wondering if they were adopted by my relative. Not sure how to check adoptions though :-S :-S :-S

Nothing planned for today, so I might look further into my tree to see about these children. Does anyone know how to check for adoptions in the UK from the 1930's and 40's?

SORRY LIZ <3 <3 <3 "HAPPY BIRTHDAY"

Just heard from my friend in Kettering. He and his wife are back from the USA after visiting his daughter for Christmas and New Year. We try to CATCH UP every few weeks, and both enjoy our little chats. We go back to 1964 when I first moved up here, and have been friends every since. We keep promising that we will meet up for a pint and a meal sometime. I hope it will happen this SPRING.

We are off to Wellingborough this afternoon to visit one of Ros's old Aunties. She is in her 80s and has Dementia and is cared for full time by her daughter, who was Ro's bridesmaid at her 1st wedding. Won't be much pleasure, and her daughter doubts she will know us. We will have to see.

Glad the car is up and running Gill, will save the expense of buying another. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Fog is still hanging around here, so we won't stay out long, don't want to be driving in the fog and dark. !!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Jan 2017 15:27

Well I hope Frank and Mandy have a better day tomorrow without the fog. We still have lovely sunshine and I am just going to go back to my ironing. I did quite a bit this morning but oh stopped me as he is looking at buying a new telly. The one I use in the kitchen, when he turns it on it knocks the leccy out sometimes and not others so he has decided we need a new BIGGER one. We don't need a bigger one as this one is a 55 inch screen and we both sit near to it at the table. I just hope this new one has'nt got what I call squeaky speech and sound on it. Its an LG one and other things we have had by this make have always been good.

Frank don't stay out too long if its still foggy as Ros won't like driving in the fog.

Gill good the car is now fixed and working again. They'll save you a bit of money.

Afternoon All

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIZ <3 <3.. I hope you are having a lovely day .Hopefully you haven't got this dreadful fog like we have here.It is so thick and hasn't shined at all today. I hate driving in Fog and always worry about anyone having to do a journey of any kind. I shall be glad when James gets home this evening. So many people this morning were driving without lights :-S :-S

Great your scan was clear Frank. it is good it can be done at the surgery isn't it. I'm surprised Ros didn't kick you out of bed last night with all your indegestion and Bottom Burps. The drops must be doing their work on your eye now if it is seeming to be getting better.

Gill, you will be so relieved that the car is back on the road again.Or at least OH will be now he won't have to walk to work :-D

Mel you lucky thing having SUNSHINE . I think it is the last foggy day though here (or so the weather man said)

Jane

Jane Report 25 Jan 2017 17:22

That is a big TV you have Mel !I think ours is a 42 inch screen and that is big enough for us.It would be nice to be able to actually fix a TV on the wall but it is just not possible .

Fitz rang up at lunch time to see if i wanted to go and see Bridget Jones's Baby at the cinema at 2 o clock.I had said to him I would like to see it ,but I just didn't fancy driving out in this fog.Well the going out would have been ok,but not driving home in the dark in it.Our road is a nightmare in fog as there is no lighting and you never know where the edge of the road is.So wasn't going to risk going out.
I think the top temp tomorrow here is about 1 degree!!!!. I said to Chris we can plug the oil radiator in in the summerhouse for Thomas when we go out to lunch and Theatre . Spoiled cat or what !...It is only as we don't have a cat flap for him in the house.

Ann,nothing has ever actually been stolen from next door garage.I don't believe they actually keep anything valuable really in there. So the burglars can't be coming back to steal new stuff. It is just odd. Chris said he heard the Alsation and little dog barking in the garden at 2.30 last night.I have no idea why they would have been let out then. This morning I noticed a van there from the security firm that fitted the Burglar Alarm .Whether thay had come to re set it or add some more security I don't know.
I don't like my neighbours very much as I have said before they are quite strange. But I do feel for them with all these attempted break ins.It has to be really unsettling for them. They always have all the curtains pulled at the front...weird or what!!.I know that most of the bedrroms are at the front ,and it is a bungalow, but it is so far back from the road that no-one would be able to just look in.

Annx Report 25 Jan 2017 18:17

Evening All,

<3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIZ <3 Hope it's been a good one and that you had a nice day. It's good your son's partner got to see the baby. What did they call the little boy?

Good news on your scan Frank and good to know that that's a problem you don't have. OH dear, what a night you had.......Ros would have been more 50 shades of green with your eruptions!! lol.

That's good the car is fixed Gill and I bet Sandra was thrilled to see Rosie!

Hope you enjoy the theatre tomorrow Jane. We had sunshine till lunchtime and no fog here all day. There's been continuous lorries here today taking away the huge pile of soil where the builders are. That is odd then that the house next door is suffering attempted breakins? I saw a programme once where they said some burglars leave marks like something on the pavement at properties they have targetted.

Fog is the one thing I hate driving in too! We were talking again about driving at night on unlit country roads this morning. I thought of 3 more reasons why it is harder lately. One is that most cars have some degree of tinting on the windscreen which doesn't help at night. Another is that the cutbacks in road maintenance means a lot of the white lines are quite faint now. Also the white lines next to the roadside verges are now covered with mud from all the tractors on the road so you can't see them! We followed a tractor the other day that was throwing mud up off it's wheels all over the pavement and cars parked along the edge. You wouldn't have been wanting to wear a white coat as you walked along. :-S

That would be a big tv Mel if your current one is 55 inches! It would be like sitting in the Odeon to watch it!! lol. Our main tv is 9 years old now and about 36 inches which seemed big at first, but not now!! OH is always saying we should get a bigger set, but it would block some of the patio door if we got one much bigger. It's the only one that isn't on the wall, but the way the settees have to go would make it awkward to watch from both if it was on the wall. I love how thin the new ones are, just like a pane of glass.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Jan 2017 19:51

The one he was thinking of getting is 55 ours is smaller than that. I think it will be a 43 inch one. My mistake but you know what its like when men are firing questions at you about how high it will be and the space it has to go in etc. I think ours is about 39 inch screen.

Doing chicken wrapped in streaky bacon with roast onions pots and parsnips and peas and brocc.

Morning all,

Another sunny day here at the moment but there is a cold wind too.

I have Library today at 12. 15pm so I am putting it on here so I don't forget and get stuck into something. I have told oh to remind me and put my books on the work surface.

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Jan 2017 09:40

Morning all

Really cold here today.

All this talk about TV's the one in our bedroom is playing up and the top of the screen is green, it looks like we're watching aliens :-D :-D :-D More expense as Frank would say LOL. Lets hope your leccy doesn't go off to much until you get the new TV Mel.

Do you think your neighbour is having attempted break ins because of the curtains being shut all the time Jane? Maybe they think the bungalow is empty. I don't blame you for not going out in the fog yesterday, hope it's cleared now for your trip to the Theatre.

Didn't sleep very well again last night, I don't know what's wrong with me lately. Hope I start sleeping better soon.

Going to get a cuppa now. What is everyone up to today?
