Oh dear Mandy your poor son and Jake too with tonsillitis, better they stay in the warmth, good idea not to visit until they are better incase you catch it. Hope they both feel better soon.
Cheese scones I haven't had them for years....enjoy :-)

Sandra has asked me to say a big THANK YOU Ann, the pink bracelet arrived a few minutes ago and she loves it, also the cat card it came in, which she is going to keep. She has the biggest smile on her face and can't wait to show her dad when he gets home from work later <3 <3 <3 You have made her day <3 <3 <3

Have just taken Cas for her lunchtime run and my goodness it's cold!!! The wind is like a knife!! Back indoors now and am preparing some homemade soup for lunch using the chicken stock made from our supper a couple of weeks ago!
Feeling more cheerful today! My birthday always seems to depress me these days, oddly much more than Christmas, so many family members not here anymore and also today is the birthday of my beloved cousin, who died of cancer. He was almost exactly 10 years younger than me and we were very fond of each other. However, OH did his best to cheer me, both offspring rang, sent cards, as did all three grandchildren. Younger granddaughter wants to make me a cake, so they're coming this Sunday, with the cake! I am ready looking forward to seeing them all. I think January is a bit of a depressing month, cold and uncheerful!
Soup's ready, so best get on with lunch.

Sorry its such a bad time of year for you and especially just after your birthday so not forgotten ever. <3 <3 My thought are with you Liz.

Well the suns been shining all day but the winds is so cold it would freeze the ***** off a brass monkey. You only have to step outside and your hands are so cold they seize up.

Afternoon all, I wasn't coming on today, but thought you would be worried ;-) ;-) ;-)

Oh what an afternoon we had yesterday. We managed to find where she lives. Knocked and rang the bell, No reply. Then there was a banging on the window, she tried to open the window, but it was locked. Dos rang her daughter to say we were there. She told Ros the code to a key box on the wall, so we were able to get in. KIM her daughter arrived soon after we rang. We all sat down while Kim made COT. Sybil Kim's mother, asked Ros where she lived, and when she told her. She sid I know someone who moved there. !! Ros said that was me :-D :-D She then asked if Ros's husband was still alive, The three of us had a laugh, when Ros said he's sitting beside me !! She's 88 years old, and still remembers her school teachers name from when she was 10. I bet she asked Ros where she lived at lest 20 times in the two hours we were there, and Ros gave her the same answer. We left before the fog got too thick, and was able to get back to Northampton before it got dark.

We stopped off at our little pub restaurant for a meal, to save cooking.

About 10.00 pm I had a large chunk of BLUE CHEESE and biscuits. Wrong move, Dreamt most of the night., and of course had indigestion. !!! My main dream was going shopping for Jan's daughter Jo. to get her a rolled neck sweater and a box of "BLACK JACKS" those little sweets in wrappers, you use to get FOUR for a PENNY when I was young. Needless to say I got neither as I only had £2.50 in my pocket.

Ros has gone to get her nails done this afternoon, then I suppose she will have a mooch round the shops. (BIT COLD ME THINKS)

Again I haven't put my nose outside today, from the forecast and the weathers reports, I am not missing anything. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Strange how your neighbours garage keeps getting broken into. I have noticed on my Emails from Northants Police there are loads of break ins in the surrounding villages and also car 's and vans having things stolen from them. I expect the thief's are getting short of money after Christmas. !!

"TIE A YELLOW RIBBON ROUND THE OLD OAK TREE" that will remind you Mel. lol

Ros is cooking a stir fry tonight, so another night off for me. The eye is showing more signs of improving, I can now see the T.V. in colour, even though I can't read the paper yet. I think that's more to do with my glass's.

I was thinking of Telephone Numbers from Childhood. Our local telephone box was BUCKHURST 3956, My brothers number was Wanstead 1884. A girlfriends number was Newbury Park 4627. My office number in London was AVENUE 4252. NOW what has made me think of those ??? It might be an age thing.

It doesn't look like the fog will return tonight but it's going to be down to minus 6/8 degrees. So keep yourselves nice and warm !!!

See you later, if I get time. That's a joke. !!!

Annx Report 26 Jan 2017 16:10

Afternoon All,

It's been very cold and gloomy here today! The noise from the builder's dumper trucks has driven us mad this week with all the groaning, grinding and revving as they move this mountain of soil from the bottom plot to the opening to the site. Lorries with winches and buckets have been down every day to grab the soil and pile it on the lorries to be driven away. We can hardly see the tarmac on the road anymore for mud!

Well, making Sandra's day has made mine too Gill :-). I'm so glad she is so pleased with it and I doubt she'll ever see anyone else with one just the same!! :-D

I always feel January should be a month for decluttering and sorting out the home when the garden and outdoor jobs aren't demanding attention. Sadly the ingredient lacking for me just now is motivation. It seems to need the promise of spring around the corner before I can really get stuck in!

Well that flipping parcel did arrive and while we were out so we couldn't refuse it!!! More phone calls to Tesco and now we have to wait for a courier to contact us to arrange collection. Will the saga never end!!

I had the most odd dream last night. I was on a training course somewhere but we had to furnish our ensuites to our rooms ourselves from some stores in the building! Washbasins, toilets, taps etc were lined up in all styles to choose from and were very lightweight. All the water connections were pipes that you just pushed together till they clicked, just like the connections on hosepipes!! The dream was all in black and white as well......weird!

Sorry to hear your son and Jake have tonsillitis Mandy. I had it a lot as a child....Very painful.

Thanks Mel, that was really kind of you <3. W e 've actually got some sun here this afternoon though the wind was bitter when we took Cas outl earlier!
We're having duck for supper with roast potatoes and water cresss and orange salad which is very good and easy!
Will your new TV have built in catchup Mel?! When do you expect it to come?!

Anne

Anne Report 26 Jan 2017 16:41

Good afternoon everyone

Cold and very grey out again although I have only been out to feed the birds, one of our old goldfish was dead in the pond so I had to net it out, you don't realise how big they are until you see the entire body

That's not very nice Ann having to put up with all that noise and mud on the road too, do you know how much longer you have to put up with it ?

Sorry to hear you felt down over your birthday Liz, I think a lot of it is the time of the year as I have been feeling the same just lately also remembering your cousin, so sad when someone dies young. It is something to look forward to seeing your grandchildren at the weekend how sweet of your granddaughter making you a cake.

What a lovely surprise for Sandra having the pink bracelet from Ann I expect she is wearing it right now to show her Dad

Mandy hope your son and Jake soon feel better, tonsillitis is so painful and hard to eat I use to get it a lot as a child, you are wise not to go near while they have it.

Frank pleased to hear your eye is now showing signs of improvement. Alzheimers is such a cruel decease not only for the victim but relatives also.

We are also having stir fry this evening nice and easy, chocolate choux buns for afters, delivered today by Sainsbury.

Richard is on facebook so he showed me the Bostons puppies that Sasha had put on there not only Ruby and her siblings but previous litters that her Mum has bred.
If you are on facebook just type in Angies Bostons and you can see them. Ruby is the one trying to climb onto her lap, I can pick her out by her markings.

Annx Report 26 Jan 2017 18:13

It's a shame you lost a fish Anne. I expect the winter is a harder time for them. I had a look on FB and saw Ruby!! She was having a little frisk too wasn't she!! We were saying the other day that we think it will be another 12 months before the building work is finished. We noticed today that a 'To Let' sign has gone up on the bungalow 3 doors away where an old man lived that passed away a few months ago.

I'm nipping to Sainsbury's down the road once the traffic has eased. It will be easier to park there about 8.00pm too. That is something MIL would have been shocked to know........that people go shopping at that time of night. :-0

It's good your eye is getting better Frank. It is very strange the conversation you have with someone with dementia isn't it. Something you just answered is asked again within minutes, then something remembered from ages ago is as clear as a bell. Ros keeps her nails nice doesn't she. Mine tend to break off in this colder weather.

Evening All

Just back from Northampton. The play was quite good, once we got inot it.I did think it went on a bit too long though .Our seats were a bit to the side of the stage and the first row on the balcony so I was sitting at a slightly awkward angle which gave a dreadful backache. In the second half someone began snoring SO LOUDLY.The whole place was in stitches.it is a very small theatre which I think made the the snoring seem so bad.I had to wipe my eyes at one point as I really had the giggles.

I went to call Thomas in as soon as we got in and I only opened the back door a few inches before he flew in.He must have been sitting right outside. His food dish and milk dish were empty in the summerhouse so he must have been keeping warm in there :-D

I haven't seen todays posts yet ,so will have a read once I have James's dinner ready .

Jane Report 26 Jan 2017 19:46

Oh Anne, I watched the little video of Ruby :-D :-D..She looks to be a lovely sociable little girl :-D :-D.

Frank, your eye sounds as though it is getting better and better each day now :-D :-D

Sandra will not want to take her new bracelet off now Gill.As Ann said thater won't be anyone else with one the same :-D.

Liz your dinner tonight sounds delish.I am sorry you felt a bit down yesterday ,but hopefully now you are on the up again.

Ann.Your close sounds a right mess ,with all the mud and muck from the trucks and lorries.Do the builders ever do anything to clean the road? I think i said that a Road Sweeper/Machine vehicle is up and down our road several times a day.But i think it is Anglian Water that must arrange for that to be done.

Mandy.Jake has so many episodes of Tonsillitis . How old is he now? Would the GP consider Jake having his tonsils out? James was the same when he was younger and had so much time off school. But it wasn't until he was about 15/16 before he had his out.He has never suffered a really bad throat since. So he should have had the op way before that. So it is two poorly boys,I bet your son is feeling very rough too. I hope the other children don't get it too.

James has finally arrived home !
I might leave the heating on low tonight as it looks like a really cold one.Brrrrrrr !

Frank Report 26 Jan 2017 21:39

Well I have sat through all the T.V. I can tonight. Dos had her soaps on but seemed to be asleep through most of them. I have recorded the "spy in the wild "and will watch that before going to bed.

Due to Ros being out all afternoon I have only had THREE lots of drops in my eyes. I will get one more before bed. So 4 out of 6 today. She must do better.!!

Tomorrow is hair wash and shower and shave. Looking forward to that.

Would you believe that the 4th of February is World CANCER DAY. That's the day I buried my Dad. What a coincidence. ?? Sorry folks, but it means so much to me. I miss his even after all these years. He was a man of Men. xxx

I watched a bit of the "CRUISE SHIP" tonight. My Dad would be the one who threw the rope a shore, to bring the mooring ropes for the ship to be tied up to the shore. I was lucky enough to have been on the bottom of the ship to watch him do it. He never missed !!!!

I'm getting a bit sentimental now so I had better get off here, I will say goodnight GOD bless to you all.

Hav'nt read all the posts yet but the telly and new stand both arrived just after lunch and oh has been setting it up ever since. We had dinner(gammon steaks pineapple toms peas mushrooms and chips) and since then he had to load all the channels I watch on catchup and teach me how to use it. We now have ONE changer for everything, Amazon is included on the telly. Its a 43 inch screen and the old was was a 37.

It is a smart tv so not so many cables dangleing down either like before on all the appliances we had on the old telly. I can't get used to seeing clear space almost down by the telly table.

I now need to read the post from Anne's so be back in a bit.

Sorry to hear you lost a fish Anne. I lost four in my pond since the filter went bang. Oh has'nt had a chance to look and see what happened to it yet.

Oh told me tonight the new telly is my birthday present.

It took him all afternoon to put the stand together after taking it apart about 4 times.

Sorry to hear you felt down yesterday Liz. That nice of your granddaughter to make you a cake, that's something to look forward to on Sunday.

It sounds like your close is a real mess with all the mud around Ann, hopefully it won't be to long now before it's all over. Sandra has still got her bracelet on and has shown her dad who thinks it's nice. Yes no one else will have a bracelet like hers. I'm pleased it made your day too <3

Just watched little Ruby on Facebook isn't she a little darling Anne and all the other little ones too <3

Fancy someone snoring in the Theatre Jane, I can imagine you sitting there giggling, the thought is making me smile :-) Hope your back is feeling a bit better.

Off to bed now I'm shattered after a few bad nights sleep. See you all tomorrow

Morning all,

Not so sunny today or as windy as yesterday but still cold out.

Hope you all had a better nights sleep last night. I went to bed with eye ache. Don't know if it was the new telly or just having to look at so many things yesterday to do with the tv but I have been sneezing too so I hope its not another cold approaching.

Frank Report 27 Jan 2017 12:15

Morning my beauties, Evening Kim,

I was in bed about 11.00 pm, still awake when Ros came in about 1.00 am. I finally got up and watched a bit of telly until 3.45 am. I hoped I would sleep in this morning but was up and about by 8.00 am.

My darling wife has washed my hair again, and washed my back while I sat on the shower stool. I managed to shower myself. I didn't realise how difficult it is, not getting the water on my face. I have also had a nice shave. So feel like a NEW MAN. !!!

Real heavy frost here last night. The sun is out now, so Ros has changed the bed and washed the sheets and pillow cases, She is going to put them on the line as there's a breeze so should dry with a bit of luck.

Jane were you at the ROYAL THEATRE ?? I used to belong to a club there and would go most months to see a play. Lovely little place, that always feels cozy and welcoming. That was very rude of the man snoring, why didn't someone give him a SHOVE.

Ros had made a BIG saucepan of STEW. It's simmering away as I speak. That will go down a treat in the next hour or so. <3 <3 <3 with a nice piece of crusty bread to soak up the gravy. It's making my mouth water just thinking about it. Mmmmm. Have just been and given it a stir and had a taste. !!!

Madam is in the shower and washing her hair, so the dryer will be going when she has done with the rollers. No peace for me for the next hour or so.

No plans to go anywhere today, so after lunch it will be Nat. Geo. for me.

The eye is a LOT better today. I can actually focus on things now, but still have to have my guard on at night, so I don't rub it. My knee has been a good boy also. So everything is looking good. ;-) ;-) ;-)

See you later.

Good afternoon all

Good news Frank that your eye and knee are improving now all you need is another good nights sleep [not like last night]

I had a doctor's appointment this morning to review my diabetic test from last Friday, pleased to say he was very pleased with the results and has adjusted some of my medicines, they are doing a trial run in giving the patient a print out of the results before you go in so they can review them in readiness to ask any questions if necessary, he then gave me a survey to complete on what I thought about it.

Hope everyone is feeling OK today

All's well here today! Big shop at Sainsbury's this morning so we're all stocked up again. After that we had a Pub lunch as it had got so late. When we got home OH helped me to unpack, then we got Merlin in, walked Cas and are now having cuppa!
As the TV is your birthday present Mel, will your OH have to ask you if he wants to watch it?!!!! :-D. Tomorrow OH is taking Cas beating again so I've got a day on my own! :-D. Next week is the final week before the shooting season ends, so no more peaceful days!!!
Sausages for supper tonight, easy!!!!!!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Jan 2017 17:08

Cleaned the big girls out this afternoon and now I am worn out. I gave them more shavings today so they are all nice and warm and dry. Did a tiny bit of clearing some dead stuff from around the back strps and across where the bird table is. Cut down the pink michaelmas daisy stalks and a couple of forgloves. Surprizing how much tidier it looks with just a little bit cut down.

So no more peaceful days for you then iz after next week.

I do wish oh would take himself off fishing again but as he can hardly walk very far now I suppose he won't. Can't wait for the nicer weather now so I can get out in the garden again. I enjoyed the little I did today as it was quite pleasent out there after the wind has died down and there's only a breeze and it is much warmer today. The sun put in a small appearance about 3.45pm for a while too.

Caught another rabbit today so thats eight I have had now. Lets hope I shan't have so many around the border this year. The deer have been up the top garden this afternoon. They don't come down so much now they have eaten all the apples in the orchard.
