Just noticed your post Jane. I had a day like yours yesterday, I was so busy with this and that the day was over before I knew it. So you've got to have a steroid injection, hopefully that'll sort it out for you. You did well seeing the GP this morning and getting home by 9.30, normally you're waiting for ages to be seen, so getting in early was great. Maybe that's the answer, book an early appointment LOL. Let's hope you don't have to wait to long before having your finger seen to.

So one lot of parcels have gone and now you have more, you are a good neighbour aren't you? Sorry to hear about the neighbours wife's mother passing away.
I don't belong to Travel Zoo, it does sound like you've got a good deal there though. You should have a nice time in March, especially if the weather brightens up. So the storm is arriving on Friday, I thought it was tomorrow, might go and see MIL tomorrow then......I'll see what the weather's like in the morning.

Evening all,

It's been a dull dreary day here with lots of rain ,it was very foggy first thing too.

<3 <3 Happy Anniversary Liz and Ian <3 <3 hope you have enjoyed your day and the lovely red roses too.

Colin still hasn't got his vitamin D tablets ,i called into boots and they had to order them in ,she said they should have been in by 4.30 and she would ring but we haven't heard any thing so it will be tomorrow now .
Colin rang his sister today and blow me she has just started taking vitamin D too ,she had tests at the hospital ,she has all the same symptoms as Colin ,achy legs, feeling tired and also getting up to the loo several times in the night, i wonder if its some thing that runs in the family .

Poor Richard having two wisdom teeth extracted ,i hope he doesn't get to much pain when the numbness wears off so he can enjoy the Omelette Anne .

You did well at the doctors this morning Jane getting in and out quickly ,lets hope you don't have to wait to long for your injection .
You got a bargain break i see ,it's years ago since we went to Ely ,i haven't heard of Travel Zoo i will have to have a look .

DIL gave me a photo today of the Victorian costume the school would like the girls to wear it doesn't look to hard to make .
The girls have several dress up days coming up ,this next week Lacey has to dress up with some thing to do with space !! Katie has to dress up as a Celebrity ,she wants to go as the Queen !! :-D
Then they have the Victorian dress up day and some thing else but i carn't remember what that was .

Lack of Vitamin D is so common now. It is our lack of sunshine :-(. I used to suffer really badly with pain in my thighs and arms. But since taking the tablets it is so much better.

Anne,I do feel for your Niece with Bells Palsy. Chris had it a couple of years ago.He was lucky as his only lasted a few weeks. But I know it can take a year or so sometimes . Hopefully hers will not last as long.

Parcels just been picked up by our neighbour :-D

Mel ,you can crack on with the Housework and Ironing once you get back from Holsworthy tomorrow :-D :-D...But then you might prefer to do your Craft work :-D :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Feb 2017 19:12

Sods law, the moment I left for Holsworthy the sun disappeared and it started to rain before I got in the car. It poured all the way in and had stopped by the time I came out of the shop. I got the giggles in Mole Valley. I was having a look at the meat counter when I looked at the sausages which were packed in lines of 8 or 10 to a pack and were standing upright on the shelf. In front is a peice of glass to stop the packs falling off and this was casting a shaddow on the bottom line of sausages. At first I could'nt beleive my eyes and thought perhaps it was my glasses but they just looked like a line of spare willies. I had tears streaming down my face when Lizzie, on of the staff, came up to me and asked if I was ok. I pointed to the sausages but she coudl'nt see it until I explained then we were both hanging on to each other and laughing. I bet if Lizzie mentions it they will move the sausages from the top shelf.

I too meant to say I missed Jane yesterday but it just went out of my mind each time I posted. Nice to know she is ok though.

The only thing I pay on a direct debit is the poll tax then I know its done.

Bropught fish and chips in for tonights dinner so thats all out of the way now and no cooking hooray. :-D bout time I had a day off.

Yes my grandad always said "A pinch and a punch for the first of the month" and my reply was "A pinch and a kick for being so quick". My grand parents lived with mum and dad when I was young. Well no thats not really true, mum and dad lived with nan and grandad as it was thier bungalow till grandad left it to dad. I spent a lot of time with my grandad when small and being an only child he was always there for me to play with.

No, we've not gone out this evening Frank as its a horrid evening weatherwise, and we both wanted to watch the vote in the H of C this evening on the brexit bill. To be honest we don't make a big thing of anniversaries, but the roses are lovely!
Son rang earlier to tell us that he has just sold a Porche than he bought about 15 years ago as an investment. It's gone for a substantial amount so he's very chuffed and we're very pleased for him. Mind you, he's been a canny chap from his teenage years when it comes to making a profit, so we're not that surprised!! Daughter also has a good head for business, so they've both got a sharp eye!!

:-D :-D :-D :-D Mel I can just imagine those erect sausages :-D..Does you good to have a good laugh doesn't it :-D :-D.Not that we have mucky minds ;-)

Liz,it sounds like your Son has done a great deal on his Porche :-D Bank Balance looking good LOL.

There is something else that follows a punch and a kick for being so quick Mel..Just can't think what it is :-S The word 'slow' comes to mind .I have no idea why.

Jane

Gillx Report 1 Feb 2017 21:04

It sounds like your son did well with the sale of his Porsche Liz, I don't blame you for not going out if the weather is bad, we find it's the same for us with our anniversary being in January, the weather is always dull so we end up staying in and I cook us something nice to eat instead.

Sorry Mandy I thought Colin was already taking the Vitamin D tablets, hope he gets them soon, the sooner he starts taking them the better. Do you think it runs in the family if his sister needs them too? Are you making all the costumes for the dress up days, if you are you're going to be very busy? The Queen should be a good one to do, does she want a crown too, they don't make it easy for you do they? What on earth (pardon the pun) are you going to do for the space outfit? :-S :-S At least you know what you're doing for the Victorian costumes.

You did make me laugh with your story of the sausages Mel :-D :-D :-D

What with a pinch and a punch and a kick and a poke, it all sounds quite dangerous, I think I'll stick with saying "White Rabbits" three times, it's safer LOL :-D :-D :-D

Morning All,

A wet one today, so no sunshine about. Not sure if the window cleaner will come or not but I've been left to deal with him while OH has gone to have a blood test. I slept much better last night after a really bad night the night before when I was still looking at the clock at 4.45 am!!

Belated Happy Anniversary Liz. We don't usually do much for anniversaries to be honest although we may have a meal somewhere new. We don't exchange presents, just cards. Getting married for us wasn't such a big event after seeing each other for over a decade. That's very good news for your son on the sale of the Porsche. It's being canny enough to know which models will appreciate in value I expect, plus you need somewhere to store them.

Mel I had a chuckle over your sausages!! :-) :-) That's just the sort of thing I would have noticed too!! You'll notice if they've been moved next time you go in there!! lol. :-) We stayed at a hotel in Salcombe years ago and OH had sausage and mash one evening. When it was served we got the giggles as the chef had put 2 round scoops of potato with the sausage sticking up between!! If I'd been very rich with oodles of space I would like to have kept some of my cars I had over the years!!

I worked with someone who had Bell's Palsy Anne. It didn't last very long but he said it was quite frightening at the time. I hope Richard's mouth feels a bit better today.

We went up the M1 to the McArthur Glen retail park yesterday. It was quite sunny which was nice. OH got some thermals for footie from the M&S shop and I got some trousers and pants. He also bought 3 books and we sat and had some naughty but nice cakes and a drink in the Thornton's cafe and shop.

Better do a bit of HW now before we go out. The parcel's still in the porch.
:-S

Morning Ann and all,

We have a hefty wind today but sunshine with it too at present. The wind came up last evening as I could hear things blowing around on the patio. I had to secure one of oh's plastic boxes he has mealworms in. He had washed it out and left it leaning against the wall. I popped it upside down under our big wooden bench seat.

Well it should be HW today but I am going to see how the day pans out as I may just leave it and do my craft.

Oh never remembers anniversaries only birthdays and Christmas. I always remember as the first day we were officially together would have been my dads birthday. I always get very spoilt for Christmas and my birthday so I don't mind.

Must remember to get something out the freezer for dinner tonight.

Frank Report 2 Feb 2017 11:51

Morning all, evening Kim.

Another horrible morning here, rain and very windy. (Batten down the hatches)

My dear wife has gone off to "Stitchery Do" without putting my drops in my eyes. I will try to do it myself, but I bet it ends up down my cheek. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I am taking a chance on showering and washing my hair on my own today. She told me to wait till she gets home, but I will get it done out of the way !!!

SAUSAGES will never look the same to you Mel. Funny what your imagination can do to you. I'm glad you two girls had a good laugh. They say a good laugh is like a good tonic.

Jane it's been many years that I visited Ely, but it is a nice little town and nice walks.
March should be a nice time to visit. We did a similar thing when Jan moved into the OLD HOUSE. We booked three nights B & B in Torquay through Amazon for ONLY £ 99.00 for the pair of us. Which I think was good value, as Jan couldn't accommodate us in the house. We were able to help during the day, and just go back to sleep at night.

I have found the DISC and loaded it. BUT still the printer is not working. Will have to get Jonathan to have a look.

There were so many sayings and replies for the 1st day of the month. I can't remember them all now, just the common ones. It's an AGE THING.

The forecast is pretty bad throughout the Country over the weekend. So be careful if out driving.

I think I will surprise Ros and take her to our little eatery later this afternoon. Save me cooking, and thinking what to have.

Have a good day girls, and hope Richard is soon out of pain with his teeth, and that the Bells Pausey soon clears up.

magpie Report 2 Feb 2017 12:51

Bells Palsy is horrid as it can initially be mistaken for a stroke. I knew someone who thought that was what had happened to them and was extremely relieved when it turned out to be B.Palsy! Hopefully Anne it won't last too long and your son will be back to normal!
Getting very windy here! This afternoon our field hedge is being cut, so Merlin has just been brought into his yard. Think he's a bit pissed off!!

I keep meaning to say that when I went to Bideford on Tuesday the daffodils were blooming at Landcross and yesterday on the way to Holsworthy they were out and about along the side of the road into Holsworthy.

I have one flower out on a little pot of tete a tete outside my shed. The snowdrops are doing well and flowering in the orchard and the daffs there are about six inches tall.

The wind here dos'nt know which way to blow first it seems as its coming from all different directions. Its already blown my little wooden toadstools of the shelf outside oh's workshop and busted up the last two huge panels of polystyrene outside the caravan.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Feb 2017 12:54

Liz is it really wind there today?

Anne

Anne Report 2 Feb 2017 13:01

Good afternoon all

Raining again here so as I had hoped to go out in the garden to make it Ruby proof that will have to wait so not much else to do, don't believe in doing HW for the sake of it and nothing needs doing at the moment, just vegetables for the evening meal to go with the moussaka . Had the Sainsbury delivery this morning so plenty to choose from.

I have never been to Ely, Jane but it does look like a lovely place to visit.

Richard hasn't suffered at all with the wisdom teeth extraction fortunately. He is still taking time off because sometimes uses heavy equipment which may not be a good idea.

Hope you managed to put the drops in your eye successfully Frank and enjoy your meal out

Frank

Frank Report 2 Feb 2017 13:21

Well it's getting darker by the minute. :-( :-( I have managed to wash my hair and have a shower and shave, Feel like a new man, I do miss my shower and hair wash every day. A bit different when FIVE of us bathed in the same water ONCE A WEEK. The rest of the time it was a wipe round, and left to you how clean you were.

Didn't try the drops, When I took my glass's off I couldn't see what I was doing. Not that I can see much with then on now.

Yes Mel, everything in the garden is coming to life. Spring is just around the corner. WE HOPE. <3 <3

Anne you certainly wouldn't want to try gardening here. You would be blown all over the place as well as getting soaked through.

|Poor old MERLIN having his nose put out. Will he go back when they are finished ??

I feel quite giddy after the shower, so I am in my dressing gown, and will sit for a little while before getting dressed.

I still have to hoover the lounge (I did say I would do it) but I have a couple of hours before Ros gets home.

magpie Report 2 Feb 2017 14:01

No, Merlin won't be going out in the field again today Frank, he's settled down in his stable yard so he'll be fine there till tomorrow.
Yes, it's windy here Mel, but quite fine with the sun trying to come out!! We had a walk round the garden just before lunch and a lot of the bulbs are showing well, some even with flowers! Aubrieta is flowering too!
Not sure what we're doing this afternoon - having a snooze I expect!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Feb 2017 14:26

Its come over a bit dark here and we have lost the sun. There have been some awful gusts of win ds though. The rest of the polysyrene has now broken up and is blowing around the orchard. There must be some in next doors garden too. Em's bungalow is level with our top garden and here back field comes down to about half the orchard.

Something has just blown down so I sm going to see what it was.

Annx

Annx Report 2 Feb 2017 15:47

It's gusty here now too so you southerners must be blowing it up here! lol We went to the Old Manor place at lunchtime and on the way we noticed another huge field starting to be dug up for housing. They have chopped down some trees all around the Old Manor and cleared a space in the woodland at the side which I think may be for extra parking. We called in a garden centre nearby then and then went to the farm shop on the way home. They have started building at the end of the farmshop which I think is to become a cafe as they had a planning application in a few months ago. All stocked up now with nice veg and salad plus 2 free bin liners as they still give free plastic bags there. :-)

It's good that Merlin is easy to catch and move Liz. My little Welsh colt was fine to catch when he was on his own and until he was put in with an older pony that had just been left wild and not handled at all. She was wary of people and would move off as you got near with mine following her!! I always took titbits when I went to catch him but ended up having to leave a headcollar on him with a short rope hanging for me to grab!

OH is not pleased with the new tax rules they are bringing in for small businesses. It looks like he will have to do a tax return 4 times a year now instead of just one!

I still don't know if I will have to do a return because of them not taxing interest at source on savings now. :-S The changes may have helped a lot of people but it's going to make more work for some who have never had to deal with self assessment before. :-S No guidance seems to have been produced yet. Life doesn't get simpler, even when you retire. :-|

OH is 'resting his eyes' so I shall finish cleaning the fridge I started this morning, just the door to do.
